So I didn’t see this in your imgur but it needs to be added to GH.

We REALLY need Asura gates! Functional ones! How many of you had made an ugly SAB cloud stair case to top of GH, and then built the most awesome structure up there, only to have noone visit because it takes a 20 minute climb just to see a few decorations. Not to mention that nasty stair case still has to stay there to provide access.

What I would like to see, is 4 craftable Asura gates (red/blue/green/white) of which you can only put 2 of each on each map. Red goes to Red, Blue to Blue. Simple as that.

Nerf to Seed of Life is what’s hurting my gameplay the most. Where the kitten did this nerf come from? I don’t think I’ve read anywhere about this skill (and trait) being OP, and something ppl complained about.
It’s changes like this that seemingly appear out of the blue that kittenes people off the most. Talk to your community, you kittens.

I dont understand this nerf either. Before I thought it was pretty balanced to a Soldier’s amulet build, where the amulet gave you 1 cleanse and the seed gave you 2 but you had to stand near the point where you cast the skill. This was a fantastic trade off since usually if you are casting a skill you want to evade damage shortly after but had to have patience to stay in that ring just shy of 1 dodge roll wide. Now I just dont feel I have a good reason to not use more reliable shouts for all my cleanses.

I’m not sure I mind the lower pet damage or ancient seed fixes. I am saddened deeply by the lunar impact change, mainly the daze duration, which already saw a significant nerf after beta.

Why did you merge top tier servers?

Why did we get merged with Kaineng, and why did anyone think these top servers needed a merge in the first place? You guys said yourselves that you could choose to merge or not to merge, that you could combine servers where they are needed, and not do it to those that dont…so why did we get merged? We had 90-100% queue up time already…Im so glad we now have TWO servers fighting for space now.

Kaineng is not a top tier server -_- and if you are having que problems I promise it is other TC players. I’ve been on KN for a year and they are the most apathetic WvW server there is. If there are more than 10 players in any given map, its a guild knocking out dailies or scratching a few guild missions. Rarely are there organized groups trying to make a concerted effort to hold territory or anything useful.

Wait a week or two… the que’s will die down. Everyone is just trying to logon now to see how the merging works.

Bumping cause I would like to see spirit rework.

I actually really like the idea of changing the spirits to wisp of some sort. More thematically than gameplay wise. I don’t like how all the spirits look the same just slightly different hue. The oakheart model is also underwhelming because I tend to associate oakhearts with their size. A wisp ties into the theme well, and I would like to see the spirits reworked to provide more synergy with druid.

I do not like the spirits as skills in the current form though. They seem like glorified banners that can die atm. Just very boring. We need to keep the effects that keep the ranger essential in the meta though, like Frost Spirit’s damage increase.

Expelling Guild Leader, is it possible?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

That kind of feature would be absolutely horrible, because my co-leader and I have been in a situation where a few toxic guild members spread lies and pretty much were angling towards a coup. If there was a feature like this, our hard work and good name would have gone down the drain. The good it would do wouldn’t outweigh the bad, because people in general suck and empowering people to topple their leaders would create massive problems and bad feelings.

Like the others here have said, talk to your leader any way you can and bring them your concerns. It might not be entirely their fault; guild leaders are people and have lives, too. Of course, guild leaders are people too, and as I said, people in general suck, so… consider leaving and starting anew as well. If there actually is a problem, it’s worth it in the long run to distance yourself ASAP.

Shovels come from event bonuses and champ bags in he silverwastes. So the best way I found to farm with my guild is run the mets through a few times. After vine wrath when you hit the 3 champs, skip the maze and go find the other 2 champs as they each have a chance to drop another shovel. They both lurk the north side of the map until the cool down on the mets ends.

Can we talk about scribing for a min, devs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Odyssey.6523

To me, and I am sure it might have been said already, too. It helps the guild so the guild helps you. Also there zero reason to rush anything so you can easily group collect what you need. I know it might not sound like the best way to go, but that how I see it.

This sounds good on paper it just doesn’t pan in practice. I would never give to a scribe. It’s not that I don’t like you, or don’t trust you but at the end of the day this is a game and there is a real world outside. At some point we all take breaks or depart. But all that investment I put into you, all that money, is lost. I don’t think people would be as disheartened with the material cost of the cost benefitted their guild. But at the end of the day the cost benefit you and it’s your choice whether to turn that to the guild or not. This is why I suggest splitting scribe into 2 levels, a guild level and a personal player level.

Can we talk about scribing for a min, devs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Odyssey.6523

I expect the horror stories of “Scribe detachment” to start coming in soon. Stories where either a guild supported someone learning to be a scribe only to have them leave or stop playing, or stories where some poor soul had to level the skill without help, only to be thrown from the guild or see someone else appointed as official scribe out of left field.

Don’t say it won’t happen, because we all know it will sooner or later. Real Life events and guild politics can do nasty things to people even without this burdensome investment to consider. It needs to be dealt with now, before it becomes a huge mess.

These are best case scenarios. Worst case scenario is the guild helps the scribe level all the way to 400, dedicating thousands of gold to it, and helping him to unlock recipes. Then, when the person reaches 400, they have instantly become one of the most valuable players in the game who can go to ANY guild because what guild wouldn’t want a free level 400 scribe? So they simply leave for another guild.

My recommendations from another thread are to split the scribe levels. Have a guild level and a player level. You need to meet the level requirement on both to craft a recipe. The guild level lowers much slower but gains xp every time ANY player uses the scribing station. The player gains XP much faster but because of the guild level, can’t out run/out pace his guild.

Example, say going from 75-100 requires crafting 100 banners to get the XP, totaling hundreds of Gold. Make it so that the guild needs to craft 100 banners to go from 75-100, but player scribes only need to craft 10-20 banners to level from 75-100. Now you’ve cheapened the cost to level scribe individually, allowed more players in a guild to work toward scribing, and created a better community effort by allowing 10-20 players to work toward the goal of leveling the guild’s scribe level.

I would also add a scribe materials storage to the bank upgrades and a “deposit to guild storage” drop down for collectibles from player inventory.

Guild Material Storage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

I suggested this in another thread. Also useful would be a “deposit to guild storage” option from the inventory which would pull only items flagged with “Scribe” craft and deposit to guild storage. That way you can easily give the scribe everything you can while saving stuff they can’t use for your personal crafting.

We have the minstrel (in gilded hollow) and he offers the default tunes. But in the treasury, if I hover over quartz, it shows the treasury needs 100 quartz for an additional music upgrade. I found this curious since I only ever remember seeing the original, but could not find the new one. It would appear that you were supposed to be able to research multiple upgrades, each unlocking more and more song tracks. I don’t think they actually put them in any of the building tracks though (except the first.)

Scribing is Utterly Broken

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

I want to add in just because I agree Scribing is useless and utterly broken. The resource cost is asinine. I have a feeling this is going to be a problem for our guild. No one is going to want to donate enormous amounts of resources to level the guild scribe when there is the risk he will leave. Especially before Xmas game season when lots of people take time off to explore new releases.

My Fix:

1.) Tie the Scribe level to the guild itself. Every time a guild member crafts something at the scribe station, the guild gets more scribe XP and can craft higher level items.

2.) Players still have individual scribe level but it levels at a MUCH different rate than the guild. MUCH MUCH faster. A player scribe can manufacture any item if his level AND the guild level is high enough. Scale the player Scribe level so it maxes 40-50G like the other crafting 400 professions. Now it is not a community effort to level a scribe who might leave the community. (And has made himself valuable to EVERY guild out there by doing so)

3.) Create a second treasury, or a collectibles bank for scribe materials. Then, make it CONVENIANT for guild members to donate by enabling a second drop down menu/right click option from the player inventory. This option would allow the player to “Deposit to Guild Collectibles” and only take items that have the “Scribing” flag in their material uses.

4.) Create a special “Scribe” permission in the guild ranks tab that would allow members access to crafting table and unique bank said above.

5.) I feel like the processing line system should come first. It seems silly you craft something then “wait” to use it. Doing the processing line first though would allow guild members to make “request” by queing blue prints. Guild leaders could rearrange the priority of the request in the processing line. Players can be invested in their own request by donating the materials required to make the items they want.

6.) Lastly, scale the output of the items with the cost to make them. I have no problem with consumables being 40G, if you got like 10-20 of them each time you made a run.

By the time Silverwaste and Drytop came out I recall being disappointed that there were no renown hearts. They were a great way to apply quest to the game, could be done solo, and provided a reason to loiter a specific area. Some of them were certainly tedious, but quite a few I really liked.

Idea for scaling guild hall costs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

The whole guild hall cost scaling thing is a lesson in capitalism. A cooperative entity will always out perform and have access to higher levels of capital. Hence, larger entities always have access to more amenities.

I get why smaller guilds are distraught that they will not have higher levels of access to guild amenities, however, part of the appeal of being in a smaller guild is overcoming the challenges a larger guild faces but with less people.

The reality is you have access to everything a large guild has access to, it just may take you longer to get there. That is the exact same it was prior to HoT.

Guild-bound Craftable Items

Odyssey.6523

The issue of account binding is a strange one to me. So many people are protective of the idea that if they worked hard for the best equipment, they should keep it, over someone just buying it. I think these people are foolish. Foolish because they don’t realise the economic oppurtunity in the game they’ve sacrificed. Yes, opening account binding to everyone, or even guild binding would allow people who have not worked toward a craft 500 have the highest level gear. But who benefits off that? The people who did work toward craft 500, and now hold the market share on capitalizing off that.

Lets be honest, did you really work hard to get crafting to 500? No, you probably did what most people did, and grinded/saved a few hundred gold, then purchased a crafting guide, and sat there for 2 hours recreating recipes to level 500. This has devalued crafting entirely. It is now just another 2-300 gold required gating your first set of ascended. Because of the way crafting is built/implemented in the game, it literally serves no other purpose than ascended crafting. In reality, removing binding from crafting devalues crafting for the average player, which in turn, raises the valuation for crafters. It actually gives crafting as a whole more meaning, not less. Your best items are now acquired as a community, not as an individual.

You are already starting to see this. Flax started at 40s the day HoT came out. The next few days it lingered around 20s until the dev’s leaked the farm underneat Jaka Itzel wp and cued people to check their achievements for the 10 linseed oil reward. Since then players have been farming like crazy. Today I saw flax hit 4s which is an all time low from what I’ve noticed. Mean while many guilds are pressing through the Tavern and Workshop building upgrades which combined =20,000 flax or almost half of the total flax requirement for guild halls. Additionally, individual players are losing luster on Nightfury as a “give me now” item, while the persistence of others has led them to finish crafting it. Demand is reducing, supply is rapidly increasing. Flax will be down to 1s by the end of the year, I’m sure.

I’m on the same boat as most others on this. Our guild is going to pull ludicrous amounts of resources to level a scribe, and then he will leave, for what? Now we’ve all lost time and money. The scribe craft needs to be tied to the guild itself. Right now its a kittenaotic, with competing scribes vieing their guild member’s resources in a competition to level themselves first, mean while the guild members don’t want to donate anything because its a high risk investment with a low yield return.

Guild Features- what's great / what's missing

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

My only feedback is the aggravation in collecting ley-line tools. Unless another guild has found a better system we have simply been buying most of these. They are heavily gated by account bound, time gated materials that require a specific (weaponcraft) high level craft and a level 3 mastery (nuhoch). The result is the onus to collect this very important material is placed on a very small population of the guild since a candidate to collect and craft these materials must have weaponcraft 400 AND nuhoch lore 3. Then at that, they can only make 1 a day. Limit the craft limitation to all weapon disciplines and provide other ways to farm ley-line sparks. On the bright side, it appears there is very little incentive to research the mining rate past 4 since the aetherium gain would then exceed the favor gain by a margin higher than what you could reasonably research.

Well it’s scaling for with something because ours have gone up although I haven’t looked to see where at yet. It started at 3% and then went to 4. I think it may be based on your guild level.

Also if anyone is interested mining rate 2 decreases production another 10 seconds. I’m curious how long that last because when you hit mining rate 6 it obviously can’t decrease to 0 seconds. So my guess is it scales less later on or goes to 1 or 5 seconds.

Scaling Guild Hall upgrades

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Odyssey.6523

Odyssey.6523

The point is a guild could exploit this by sending 5-10 members to open a new guild hall and max it out in a few days based on contributions of all 500 members

There are 2 key resources that make it impossible. Favour is capped weekly, and aetherium is generated at a constant value depending only on your upgrades. Both are designed specifically to prevent what you are describing from happening.
Thus, it’s a nonissue.

I seriously doubt any guild would willingly downgrade themselves to only few members for several months (which, as we have heard, is the fastest you can 100% your guildhall) just to save on mats.
And 500-man guilds can already easily queue upgrades at the highest possible speed. At these numbers, costfor each individual is negligible.

They don’t have to downgrade their guild. They just run it in the background on a second guild slot for a while. Managing our guild hall I can say aetherium and favor are not the biggest obstacles. Money is.

The best idea so far has been to limit smaller guilds to smaller halls. They don’t need a city they need a cabin. Whoever said that was right. Make the cabin require less to upgrade but if guild ever applies for larger guild license to recruit more people they have to pay exponentially, to rehome their guild in a larger guild hall, per each upgrade they’ve already achieved.

There’s a lot actually. Don’t forget you can still visit the guild hall via the guild pane and contribute resources to upgrades.

1.) Guild Missions all generate favor and are all in Tyria. Be at these important events for your team.

2.) A huge amount of resources are exclusive to silver wastes or can be farmed there including bloodstone bricks, silverwastes shovels, coarse sand and random mats. Make it mutually beneficial, try and tackle some SW achievements or lumi armor while you are there.

3.) money ALWAYS helps. Seriously some of these mats are a pain to farm. As the guy doing most of the management on my own guild hall it’s nice to just buy some off the tp sometimes rather than motivate an effort to collect them.

4.) You can take over or lead recruitment efforts, or mentor new players and help get them to 80, learn PvP or an unpopular game mode within your guild to broaden the number of places your guild can draw resources, etc…. Not having HoT is not the end of the world though.

So the secret here is to goto the scribing station closest to the upgrade vendor for the workshop. You can open both up at the same time and the second tab on the workshop vendor shows all materials needed for every upgrade available and allows you to donate them straight from there. If you hover over the number on each mat it shows how many for each upgrade are needed. You can pull straight from your bank to inventory and inventory to donation box.

Now what I really want is a TP =D

we don’t know if it was done purposely or if it’s coincidence and we probably never will, you can decide for yourself, our guild already has

There is an NPC that you can get for your guild hall, he is a scribe and his name is Douglas Bird. Our friend that passed was named Doug, and our guild tag is [BIRD].

i just confirmed, concentration is indeed broken on it. the amulet is gonna be bloody amazing when it’s fixed. i’ll make a little post in pvp forums.

Thanks for confirming. Havent had time to play with all the new features since HOT release. The potential to boon stack with Nature Magic 20% passive and basically another 30% from Minstrel will be amazing. Plus rune and in WvW you get food as well. It may be possible in WvW to obtain 100% boon duration without specializing in a boon, or at least very close.

I have a build similar to the trapper druid I’m using for sPvP as well. When the CA form regeneration gets fixed I think druid will be very competitive in PvP. Right now the only thing holding it back is access to CA to get some of those higher level skills and procs when you need them.

You will need swiftness to cross map quickly because it is big and high dps but overall if you call targets on the vine tenders and burst them down the maws should die rather quick. Raid boss hits hard but is predictable. Solid range dps will widdle him down. If you are having trouble send me an in game message and I’ll help. I’ve coached a few people through it now claiming guild halls for personal (read 1 man) guilds.

I would rather see a guild PvP roster. The way it’s set now, by my understanding, makes swaps and changes difficult.

Irenio you are a sage to the ranger community. I am extremely appreciative of how vocal you personally have been since the WHaO fiasco. Thank you so much.
