You dont really believe that, do you?
because you cant test it with millions of players worldwide at a time, that maybe why?
But you can get 20 employees to do the entire event and tell you that 30 mobs aoeing the whole zone has no solution no matter which classes they are playing and which utility skills are selected, that the event is not fun and the only way through it is to consistantly die and ressurect people until you fall on top of a chest
Testing with lots of people on different servers is tougher but not impossible, nowhere near in fact. But the very design of the encounters was a clear giveaway that we were the first people to try it. Nobody would have given it the go-ahead in that state.
I stopped reading at the testing part. Not sure this is the right forum for works of fiction.

Not sure about the rest but the young karkas shouldnt be a problem for any class as I see it. Once you realise the spear shooting they do is aimed in a general direction and not specifically the player, you should be getting hit by 1 of them at maximum. Its like fighting a mob with siege attacks. Every class should have a skill or weapon that can attack from out of aggro range. Once you have attacked them they are going to use their long ranged spear move. So dodge. Or use an ability that moves your character or makes you immune to projectiles or all damage. You’ll be hit by maybe 1 spear if you dodged and 0 if you used one of the many abilities. After the spears they dont hit very hard and I’ve never seen them live long enough to work out how long before they shoot another set of spears.
Sorry but the info was out there that the one time event was on the 18th and because of that its pretty obvious that the real reward was going to be after you complete that.

It actually made me poorer. Not all in a bad way though. Drops? No luck for me. However with all the luck other people had a lot of armour and one weapon that I had wanted for an alt became far less expensive. Think I spent around 6 gold on named heavy legs for my warrior, 3 named medium pieces for my thief and another named dagger also for my thief
Honest guess is that if we get anything more than an apology, it’ll be the 20 slot bag, the karka accessory and a green item. Which for a lot of people would be an “alright” compensation. For others it would feel some way short.
Like it or not this had to be done. Not because of the people trying to do it for the first time, but the people exploiting it repeatedly for the rewards. Don’t be mad at Arena Net, be mad at them.
Please do a search and count how many people posted because the event bugged, froze, reset or crashed on them. This is just the vocal section of all those people who were not able to finish the event for one reason or another.
And you’re here to tell us that there are people out there who completed the event 2 or more times? Alright then since you seem to know everything, how about you name them all.
I personally completed the event 4 times, the first was the original starting at 12 pm pst, and the other three were on overflows trying to get other people into the event

ok then genius, you see this thread? i may have started it to let people know the situation, im definitely not the only one who hopped into the overflows to ferry people in…. but then why do we have to give our names to you? what could you possibly do with them? you can assume all you want but i did each event on the same character, no extra rewards, just extra help >_>
also …. seeing how the thread has turned from people seeking and granting help to immaturity as some posters have shown…. id like to request this thread be closed if any forum mods are looking

I’m not jealous, I congratulate you. You were very lucky. But you are just 1 person and excuse me if I refuse to blame you for the new build while people were finishing the event instead of Arena Net. I dont know why you want the blame but I dont think you can have it. Not from me.
I hope this helps a few people who werent given this advice previously, but I’ll give you my own account. I personally know a whole guild of people who know this and much more about their pcs and what they can handle. They also know that if they want to play an online game seriously they need a good internet connection and to have a wired, not wireless connection. But just like myself on my 100 mb download connection and playing on lowest game settings possible for the best performance available, they and everyone else on my server at the time lagged an impossible amount on day 1 of the event. I’m not even the one who is mad that people were able to do the event several times. Thats on Anet once again. But just because you were able to do the event a whole bunch of times doesn’t mean a lot of people were able to and that we should be blaming them, not Anet, as was suggested.
Unfortunately this is pretty much MMO standard. Things are put into the game for the hard working, determined, fortunate and privelidged. And then at some random moment whenever the developer feels like it, those items either become obsolete or a huge amount more common making you wonder why you spent the time trying

Perhaps the change is that so many people were dissappointed with the bugs, resets, untested content and new build when people were still trying to take down the ancient karka for their first time that each server will lose half of its population via people not logging in anymore.

While you can and should appreciate the “free content” its not just for us. Its also for them.
You think they want everyone to forget about their game before its even christmas? Thats how it would have been if not for “free content”.
This happens when people jump to alts and farms it over and over and over and over and over again.
Pretty sure the number of people who were even able to do that would be a fraction of the number of people who were participating in the event but never managed to finish it. So few people managed to get it done once without a crash, restart, bug or whatever else stopping them and you’re going to blame fictional people you made up who went through faultlessly again and again to collect Dawns
Now we’ve finished testing their event they can roll it out properly today… Right?
Seems very obvious given it works that way in the rest of the game. The only way I’d have taken a non-80 there is if it was like the mad king’s slippers which you knew were going to be in the chest. Think of it this way, you being less than 80 with good gear meant that the entire event was even more of a headache for everyone else there with you. Every group there quite clearly needed help not hinderance from lower levels because this wasnt a fluff event that a level 80 could solo. It was nigh impossible content without repeatedly dying, butting your head against a brick wall, until you found a chest.
Whoever who says “its just a CHANCE to get precursors” are just grasping at straws to defend Anet.
“its just a CHANCE to get precursors” + “cannot even do the event because of technical/real life issues” = No chance forever.

Some of us chose to face the concequences. Not having the chance at a legendary precuror is yours.
The only “unfair” part is the huge difference between people with great luck who got a precursor and those who got the least in demand exotics or level 79 ones. There should be a lot less difference in your fortune if you went through the same hell together, it shouldnt be that a few people felt they had an awesome experience because for 3 hours of their time they got a legendary precursor while the rest feel they wasted their time on subpar content for small rewards.
You feel discriminated against because you couldnt make it? Guess what, you couldnt make it. Others made the time. It was announced well before the event and you could have done the same.
Was the reward too big? No not really. In fact if Dawn had dropped for me (and nothing worth mentioning did) then I’d have felt like I earned it because guess what, you didnt just miss the event, you missed hour after hour of unavoidable deaths in content that was clearly not tested, a little lag, repair bills and extremely forgettable content. I appreciate what Anet tried to do with the account bound accessory and the 20 slot bag, those are cool beans but somehow I think more thought went into those 2 items than the entirely of the Lost Shore monthly.
This gets bugged all the time on Whiteside Ridge. Several times yesterday when trying the Southern pact push event with only death and failure removing the npcs from their location. Then we tried the northern push and that too got stuck right before the temple. This time we had plenty of npcs left up and the only enemies that spawn are single targets, so they keep each other from dying and wont reset. Incredibly frustrating
