For good measure, uninstalled the game as well.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Been playing, off and on for years. Was actually excited for the expansion until recently.
Charging the same price for the entire existing game and the expansion for new and existing players is a HUGE middle finger in the face of all existing players. We’ve already paid you, supported you and are the SOLE REASON YOU STILL EXIST. YOU being Arena Net.
No game in history has ever asked its existing player base to pay more to continue their game than new players. EVER.
In essence, existing players pay double, while new players pay what we paid 3 years ago, get all we got and more. Forget sales between now and then, it’s blatant taking advantage of your ORIGINAL SUPPORTERS.
As such, IF…I ever buy the expansion at all, it will be on the inevitable sale. GW2 sells for as little at $10. If I buy the xpac, it will be at that price or lower. Thanks for showing early supporters what you think of them, I’ll answer in kind with my wallet.
I’d rather have someone with a brain lead a zerg, regardless of class or stats.
This thread shouldn’t die because Anet has NEVER lived up to what they promised and they continue to get farther and farther away from it.
This thread shouldn’t die because the more people that see it, the more people realize how ridiculous it is to bring up 3 year old videos that have been supplanted time and time again by new information that players have completely ignored.
This “new information” states that they’ve completely abandoned their principals and decided to create a completely different game? Please, share this revelation.
The new information shows exactly what a dynamic event was, and exactly what the personal story was, long before launch. People still try to use the manifesto like they didn’t know all roads led to Zhaitan or something, which is just crap.
There’s plenty of new information. Yes, Anet did change their stance on vertical progression…but since vertical progression was not mentioned in the manifesto at all, I can only assume you haven’t seen it.
So, you got nothing. I figured as much, but it’s cleaner when you say it.
That my people, is the price of no subscription fee.
Totally cool with it too. Thanks.

There have been idiots in LA map begging for “donations” to xfer people to SoR. It’s pathetic.
Free transfers to low pop servers is a good thing. Simultaneously lowering the cost of transferring to high pop servers is destructive. The idea is to get people off high pop servers and spread the population around, not make it easier to load servers up.
@OP, your view of it is backwards.
Its not a good thing at all, as many of us have said, Server Population has NOTHING to do with WvW population, look at the NA servers, the bottom 3 are all very high/high and yet they can’t pull enough numbers to compete. Its frustrating watching Anet put on their blinders time and again so they can completely avoid the true problem/picture.
WTB a dev that actually REALLY cares about WvW, and has the capability to see past Server population.
Have a look at current server loads and WvW ranks. There most certainly IS a correlation between low server pop and low WvW rank. It’s not an absolute certainty, but it is definitely the trend. Also try guesting around during peak hours. Simply using the low-very high listing in the server menu is a poor gauge of how busy a server is. Many listed Very High are anything but, especially when compared to a T1 server.

Anet makes absolutely no sense to me. Lowering the cost of server transfers lowers the barrier of entry to tier 1 servers, something that is harmful to the game. It also lowers their profit margin reducing their profits (unless they’re expecting a higher volume of transfers to cover the difference, in which case I refer you to my first point). I simply don’t get the motivations of the people running this company.

FIX IT, ANet!!!!
They should have removed this dysfunction when they released the LFG system.
Anet needs to implement restrictions to kicking people from parties now that LFG is up and running. The exact same abuse happened in WoW when Blizzard released their LFG tool back in Wrath. Kicks should be limited to necessity only. Not so that some troll can just kick anyone for no reason as many times as they please.
I would gradly transfer there if the transfer is free. Right now the tranfer fee is just too expensive. Arena should make transfers to struggling server free for a limited time.
It’s ~48g to xfter to Devona’s Rest right now. That’s not too expensive, you’re making excuses.
If you’re claiming to be the first, I’ll ask you if you ever spend gold or karma. The obvious answer is yes, you do, just like everyone else. People spending time and effort in the ruins are playing the game, just like anyone else and they are just as entitled to the same rewards. They should get them.
Of course I like me some shinies. When I run around in the middle of the map though, I know that I don’t get any stuff from it other than some loot bags and wxp from kills, and this is totally fine. Nice fights are the reward which pay me for being there. If I want / need gold, there are easier and faster ways than WvW; at least my repair bills are covered by loot bags.
Simply killing other players in WvW isn’t profitable. Not to mention that the circle of ruins fails to draw in sufficient numbers to even make it worthwhile PvP. It’s a waste, boring and pointless due to lack of rewarding play.
The ruins are places designed for players who don’t care about rewards too much, and who are looking for like-minded and challenging small scale fights. If you want rewards, you capture structures and kill dolyaks and sentries. Please don’t try to change everything to suit your personal demands — it’s just not for you if you don’t like it yet.
I haven’t met a player that doesn’t care about rewards. They don’t exist. If you’re claiming to be the first, I’ll ask you if you ever spend gold or karma. The obvious answer is yes, you do, just like everyone else. People spending time and effort in the ruins are playing the game, just like anyone else and they are just as entitled to the same rewards. They should get them.
Ruins are poorly implemented. A grouping of 5 points for parties to endlessly capture and recapture with no rewards is pointless. Likewise the bonus for doing this is misplaced.
Ruins are a mini-game within the larger WvW game. They will not and can not alter the balance of the game the way they are currently implemented. This is because …
A) Ruins provide rewards to those already in control.
B) There is ZERO INCENTIVE for any opposing faction to claim these points.
The way Bloodlust and Ruins currently work favors the winning server.
That’s wrong. I’ll say that again, it’s WRONG.
Here’s my solution to Ruins and Bloodlust.
1) Ruins award karma, gold and experiece…..on a small scale due to their high turnover nature. This scale should be representative of what someone could expect to reach following a zerg around the map capturing points. It’s not difficult math for Anet to pull off, they should already be tracking this kind of thing all the time.
You capture a Ruin, you get X exp, X karma, X gold, every time, the aggregate amount would roughly equal the time spent following a zerg. Plain and simple. The reasoning for this is that the people following the ruin battles are not the same people following the zerg battles. These are people interested in small scale combat, but still want to be part of a large scale battle with consequences.
2) Bloodlust should apply to the lowest ranked server in the contest. The winning server doesn’t need buffs, OBVIOUSLY. They’ve already earned top spot.
Instead Bloodlust applies to the lowest ranked server, to get them back into the fight. For the mid ranked server, they can earn a single stack of Bloodlust. The top ranked server get nothing, BECAUSE THEY DON’T NEED IT.
This gives the servers that aren’t winning incentive to fight for the Ruins, incentive for the servers that are winning to defend the Ruins and a reason for everyone to get involved.
Leading servers will send parties in order to defend their lead and lagging servers will send parties to gain an advantage against their foe. It creates combat, strategy, and fun. It makes it worthwhile for people only interested in small scale PvP to look at WvW and still earn something.
In short, it makes WvW available to everyone. It’s a Win Win strategy and it should be implemented immediately.
The game released with nothing resembling the manifesto in place. A year later it’s as if the manifesto never existed. It was a publicity stunt. Anet uses them a lot along with their descriptions of content (dynamic events, living story) misnaming and misrepresenting things in order to sell them. It’s what they do. The game they said they were building doesn’t exist and it never will. Either you have to accept what you have, or you don’t. But those are the facts.
Bucket O’ HP.
Golem has always done this, but it’s new for Teq since it was changed. Super annoying.
Necromancer life blast and staff 1 often won’t hit Teq’s fingers. Displays obstructed or invulnerable when they should be neither.
Also, OP, you should put Tequatl in the title.
How are people guilty for trying to stay away from certain parts of the playerbase?
The fact that you ask that shows everything that’s wrong with you.
A soon to be deleted/locked post for ignoring forum guidelines.
I agree, it needs a change. It should just place random people together like the WoW Dungeon Finder does. Don’t like your group? You can leave and get a dungeon debuff so you can’t run dungeons for half an hour.
Oh, you don’t like that solution? Then live with what you have. Anet already catered to the elitist scum by allowing the LFG to post what “type” of group they want. They can’t force people to abide by what you type.
This thread made me think of an important question. Will the LFG tool block people you have on your blocked list? I hope so, because I’ve added a couple from this thread to my list. I can’t stand elitists.
They’ve done the 1/4 s delay with many skills. IT’S NOT A NERF. Protection against wasting Death Shroud would be a buff, if anything. It’s actually neither, just security against lag. 1/4 second is less than the latency you get if you play on the East Coast US. 250ms, it wouldn’t affect skills at all. If you don’t understand how it works, do some research and look at all the skills it’s already been added to.
It’s not a nerf. It’s security against putting DS on CD and wasting it.
Did you just insult Jennifer Hale? Them’s fighting words……
Nope, I didn’t insulted anyone but yes, the voice she made is one of the worst in the game and no, I don’t mean she did a bad acting, just the voice she chose to do is awful IMO.
The best thing you could do for yourself and the rest of the GW2 community at this point is to delete all your toons, abandon or cancel your account and leave without saying a word. You are not wanted here.
Karma Fairy. Undocumented change in last patch.
The only reason I don’t have a Syvari necro is the voice (female). It’s just kittening annoying.
However they can look great with the right gear and for Asura, the Arah armor is just amazing, they look really creepy on that.
Did you just insult Jennifer Hale? Them’s fighting words……
Hey guys,
What would you say?
I know Human looks better in gear in general and has a better running animation, but Sylvari’s a bit different…
What do you guys think?
I think you’re nuts.
I know Human looks better in gear in general and has a better running animation
^ that’s why.
DS does need a 1/4 second delay in order to prevent being double tapped (pop in then right back out of DS, putting it on CD and wasting it) in laggy (WvW) and gameplay intense situations. It doesn’t need to lock out half your skill bar when exiting DS however.
Could you also add a 1/4 second delay to Necromancer Death Shroud (like you’ve done with other skills in the past) to prevent double tapping in laggy (WvW) or intense situations? This would prevent Death Shroud from being wasted because the button was hit twice. Thanks.
How about if you are bleeding you can’t go invis cause people can see your blood trail.
Can be balanced by it being triggered after a certain # of stacks.
I’m happy to see they’re finally working on some fine tuning.
That would effectively kill stealth in game. There are too many ways to stack bleeds easily across many classes.
Increasing pet HP in PvE won’t help anything. It’s not needed for map exploration. What is needed is a damage taken reduction on pets in dungeons. Having more HP won’t matter unless the HP pool is twice (or more) of the player HP and that’s not gonna happen. Reduce the damage pets take from bosses/AoE attacks in dungeons.
Pets (especially necro minions) need better AI. They need to attack the players target, every time, all the time, when the player does. Not standing around 2-5 seconds doing nothing (Flesh Golem). Bone minions and jagged horrors (the little minions) still run off and attack random targets, regardless of what the player is attacking, even if the player is attacking nothing.
Necro Death traitline is the most sorely lacking one, not Blood. Since pets are unreliable and because of that unviable in almost every situation this trait line is mostly useless as well. Pet AI fixes are the first step towards fixing that. Also the CD’s on pets is far too long. If a pet dies it’s a useless utility slot for ~60 seconds AND a long cast time once it’s up again. That needs to be reduced.
Tab targeting needs a sticky target option. Clicking on the game world will not deselect your target.
(edited by Oxe.6142)
In Guild Wars 2, the monsters raid you.
Also, check out Guild Missions
It’s disturbing to me that someone with the title “Game Designer” equates raiding to Guild Missions.
Number 1 on that list should be Pet AI. Pets are slow to attack or simply don’t, especially the Flesh Golem. Pet’s should heal when the player does out of combat. Pets should attack what the necro is attacking. Bone Minions shouldn’t run off and attack random targets (like how the Flesh Golem used to), ESPECIALLY if the necro isn’t attacking the target.
Melee cleave on a necro would be OP. Necro’s innately have aoe built into nearly every attack they use, with the exception of dagger/axe 1. They’re the best AOE class in the game, bar none and don’t need melee cleave also.
FA is in T1
No. They aren’t. They’re playing (and losing) T1 servers. They are not in the first tier.
You’re complaining about an optional service you can even pay for by earning gold in game so no real money is required in an MMO that has no subscription.
Read that twice. Then apologize.
Yes, farm your 10,000 hours to get those 1,800 gems. Do you not know how much the price for gems go for nowadays? It’s like 6 gold per 100 gems!
That’s obviously not an option here, so Anet wants you to pay real money for that.
Read your post twice, because obviously you didn’t do the math, and in all honesty, I don’t even know if you’re playing this game because you know so little about it.
Read your post twice, then apologize.
Gems have actually dropped in price recently, they’re below 5g per 100. So either you aren’t playing the game, or you like hyperbole to spin your arguments. If you can’t earn 70-100 gold in a week, you’re doing it wrong. Learn to play.
Better to take 10 in Death instead of Curses. Choose protective wells (Ritual of Protection). You lose the ability to cast wells at range, but using Axe your max range is only 600 for serious damage anyway (yes, focus goes to 1200, but that’s really only to land a slow on someone you’re trying to catch). You also lose bleeds on crit, but they’re useless without condition damage anyway. Use focus 5 to catch up, focus 4 to start vulnerability once close, change to dagger use horn 5 and stand in your wells which grants protection while you kill the target. Suddenly you’re a zerk power necro with 9 seconds of 33% damage reduction and a teleport escape. Most targets won’t survive 9 seconds, if they do you can still escape with the worm or range them in DS.
That’s a rly nice suggestion and I already tried it out but the problem in tournaments is that you will be knockbacked a lot when u try to use the well next to a dead enemy and their guard starts rezzing, but it is worth a try.
The elite in that build (Lich Form) grants stability. Also, you can opt for 3 seconds of stability when entering DS as your 30 pt talent in Soul Reaping.
Leveling I buy armor from heart vendors for Karma. Karma is easy to come by (yes, even after the nerf) and once you replace it you can throw karma gear in the forge for something to salvage or sell. Your stats don’t matter in the least while leveling. You’ll get 2 skill point resets at 40 and 60 and you should be using this time to try out new and different things. Play your character in a different way than you did the last 10 levels. Discover something you may not have thought of, but works none the less. At 80 respecing your traits cost about as much as a medium length waypoint, so it’s negligible.

I think Fort Aspenwood is now in Tier 1 for WvWvW
This one was hilarious.
Blackgate, Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood
Two of those are T1 servers. Aspenwood isn’t one of those two.
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvw
hmmm reads T1 though rating is #5. But it’s in T1 slot, sooo. Like last month, rated 5 ir 6 but in T3.
Anet added a random component to matchups some time back. This week SoR was placed with T2 and lower teams and Aspenwood was placed with T1 teams. That doesn’t change the rankings, SoR is #2 in the game and a T1 server.
The problem with this is that T1 servers are miles ahead of T2 servers in terms of ability, coordination and participation. It’s simply not fair for T2 and below servers to be matched up against T1.
Case in point, the current scores of those matches.
http://mos.millenium.org/na
Keep in mind, next month everything changes with this WvW league thing and every server in the top league will be facing T1 servers every week for 7 weeks. It’s going to be a slaughter.

I like the part where it accuses you of breaking the web page.
Please contact the server administrator, cliff@arena.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

The stat difference is not minor. A single piece of Ascended gear won’t matter much. A full set most certainly does. We now have more than half of all your gear available in Ascended, so not having that means you’re at a disadvantage.
Run Fractals using Karma boosts, buy with both relics and karma. Win win. Unless you don’t like Fractals (completely understandable).
