Bugged runes turned up in inventory

I had 74 of those runes that have the same symbol as Superior rune of Earth on the TP, and since HoT they have been bugged, having no item description or name. I flipped 100’s of them and the market was very competitive, and now all of a sudden 74 of them show up in my inventory with the only option to destroy them and not resell them. Any ideas what is going on?

And then on the other side is me.

I took my time on the new maps and I am still unlocking the first areas. Did a few of the story missions and as many events as I can find on the map. Sitting at about 30 mastery points even though I see over 100 sitting above many others.

My point is that if you want to rush everything to get it “done” it is your own fault if it is over far to quickly. I prefer the journey, but if your only shooting for the destination then don’t be to disappointed when it arrives far to soon.

As much as I enjoy HoT, this is not a valid argument towards the debate these guys are having. You always read things like this, “100 hours in on Skyrim and haven’t left Whiterun” etc etc, doesn’t mean there is meaningful content that will keep people interested, it means the person in question often has too much time on their hands and is willing to drag their heels to get their moneys worth from their purchase. The OP here has a lot of valid points that a huge number of players are feeling, and you probably haven’t experienced a lot of them yet as you are spending so much time soaking up the content.

I don’t rush by any means, me and my partner play a couple of hours in the evenings and a bit more on weekends, and have seen most of the meta events now. HoT is good, but I do question a lot of the design choices Anet made here.

Thanks again for all the tips, I think the best option here is to make twilight and sell that instead, hadn’t even thought to do that but it’s a much greater profit. Also I haven’t any desire for any of the’old’ legendaries so my leftover gift of exploration will go unused if I don’t do this now

You might want to hold on to that precursor and build it into Twilight.
If you have a good amount of the required materials available to build the Gifts it will be more profitable than just selling Dusk. (haven’t done this myself since HoT release, but this method did well before)

I worked out that it would cost me 600g to make twilight, give or take, with what I currently have and current prices for the rest of the stuff I need.

Question is, are people really like to pay more than 3k gold for a legendary? I may end up in the same position again with a more expensive item on the TP and no money left in my bank lol..

Thanks for the input everyone

Hi guys

I was lucky enough to have Dusk drop off a champ in Orr, and decided to sell it so I can split the gold between my and my Mrs. I put it on TP for 1100g, and in 24 hours another 8 have been put on there at a lower price.

My question is, is there any way to determine how many of these things sell on average per day? I guess I may have gone in too high and not sure whether to relist due to it being kitten listing fee. Not in a major rush for the gold but my Mrs has her eye on some stuff so would like it to sell soon-ish, and if I’m stuck with a kipper maybe I should just fill a BO?

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

Let me enlighten you:

Let me enlighten you. I know perfectly well how precursor generation works. Been here for years. If there were a VENDOR offering precursors for 500 gold I’d buy in a heartbeat because that takes 100% of that mud coin out of the system.

Given the option to work a little harder (and I have level 500 crafters in all professions so I’m quite capable of fabricating the ascended mats from their basest, cheapest components) to NOT push 90% of that money into the hands of another player, I’m willing to pay a modest premium.

Frankly I’d sooner be the person dumping yellows/oranges into the mystic forge over buying a precursor. Because buying other people’s risk rarely is a good deal in the long run and I expect to be here a few years more.

I don’t understand that sentiment at all, but even so, why would you waste 1000g or more on precursor crafting (not to mention the time it takes to finish the masteries and collections) when it’s a lot easier and cheaper to generate a pre yourself through the MF (by using lvl 70 exotics, dungeon exotics or crafting your own rares)?

False sense of pride in not ‘feeding the evil flippers’.

When gathering the materials needed for precursor crafting takes a lot more time than farming for gold to buy one off the TP, then there is no reason to bother with the precursor crafting. Just farm gold and buy a pre from the TP.

Oh for pitty’s sake. You CANNOT say “oh, just farm the gold” and then be kittened off about the price being asked by people who actually generated the mats!

Someone has to actually put the real goods with actual value into the system. People generating piles of trash gold need to recognize they are the ones causing the mudflation.

When the sum total of the materials’ value needed to craft a precursor is higher than the price of the precursor on the TP, then there is no reason to bother with precursor crafting. Just sell your mats and buy a pre from the TP.

…and watch the prices climb to equilibrium…

Precursor crafting as it is right now is literally a waste of time and money.

No. BUYING the mats is a waste of time. Being able to realistically produce a precursor without feeding coin to your economic pvp opponents is priceless. Literally.

And once again you’re completely missing the point.

Because of the insane amount of mats needed to craft a precursor, you’re literally better off buying a pre from the TP. I don’t get how you don’t understand this/ But let me spell it out once more:

Lets say I’d need 1000g worth of mats to craft The Chosen, and instead of buying the mats from the TP I’d farm and gather all of them myself.

So here I am, farmed and gathered my butt off. Now I have mats with a total value of 1000g in my bank and I didn’t spend a single dime for it. All is good right? Nope! Not all is good! Because here is the problem:

Why would I use those mats to craft The Chosen, if I could also sell them, turn them into 1000g liquid gold, the buy The Chosen from the TP for 500g and actually have an additional 500g to spare? I’d be frikkin stupid to waste my 1000g worth of mats on crafting The Chosen if I could just sell my mats and get The Chosen cheaper!

So I’ll say it again: as it is now, precursor crafting is a complete waste of time and money.

The last 6 lines of your post are something I cannot see how anyone can logically argue with.

You mean the last 6 lines of my post don’t make sense? How so? What part doesn’t make sense to you? I explained it pretty clearly. But I’m willing to explain it once again if I have to. I’m a patient man.

Haha you misread what I posted, I was actually saying that is an extremely sensible way to put it and I cannot see how anyone can present a logical argument against that statement.

I got Storm the other day, and the price of it is pretty low (around 380 B.O and 490 B.I.N) and it actually works out CHEAPER to buy it off the TP than it would be to craft it. I don’t think the system was thought out very well, I can understand that to get a precursor you should have to put in a considerable amount of effort, but for the item to be cheaper to buy it does kind of defeat the object for some I would imagine.

I picked ranger so i could play as ranged dps. Im not the best player and i dont like any groups i am part of having to rely heavily on me, aside from damage support. Ive put 1000 hours into my ranger over the last 2 years, and now feel that the direction of the class has been forced down a path i never wanted when i picked it in the first place.

The main selling point of GW2 for me was “no Holy Trinity” and now the class I enjoy has been shoehorned into a role i dislike having, with a major lack of viable alternatives to use my elite spec if i dont want to be a healer.

I had an immense amount of fun playing ranger, and am dismayed at the design decisions which, for me, have ruined my class or at least made me have to use the same weapons/skills that i got eventually bored of before HoT. Not sure which class to try next but yes, for me its R.I.P ranger.

Preferably the Crown Pavilion and Queens Gauntlet, or Zephyr Sanctum , but that may be a little difficult lore wise, as it seems the Zephyrites are not in their best form right now (completely destroyed in other words :-p ).

Those events were all really fun, anything like that would be welcome. Instead the focus seems to be on gem store items

Patch day was last Tuesday, there will be nothing today.

For what it’s worth I think the whole way HoT has been approached is terrible. Since the announcement Arenanet have left the current players with nothing new, not even the usual spring WvW tournament. It doesn’t make much business sense to announce something so early, drip feed information with very little proper news, no release window, and simply stop producing new content which the game was originally designed for. Arenanet are a great company, GW2 is one of my favourite games of all time, but the way this has been done is crazy to me. They will be lucky to have a decent player base left when the expansion releases at this rate!

there is nothing more that i hate that being undercut by 10s on a ~70s item , instaed of undercutting me by 1c and keep the price high some “special” ppl undercut me by 10s and pushing the price into oblivion where its not profitabel anymore (i´m looking at you beaded weapons)

the thing is , its not like they will sell it faster because its 10s cheaper instaead of 1c, if someone need it , they will buy it, no matter the price

This isn’t the main problem though. What happens is there will be an item that people can make a nice profit buying and selling a few at a time, then some fool tries to ruin it for everyone by trying to monopolise it buying 100 or more, so people feel their buy order will never be filled and keep upping their bids. Selfish people ruin the whole thing when it could be a good profit for all. Rather than stopping a 1c increase it would be better to stop people buying more than a certain amount of things if they aren’t consumable or crafting maybe?

Its not manipulation, its speculation.

This Sigil has been overproduced, meaning people crafted it in order to gain the discovery exp to level their artificer cheaply from 450-500. It costs about 1.2g to craft, so its cheaper than discovering an exotic weapon.
That resulted in an oversupply of this sigil because it wasnt popular, so its listed way under crafting value.

With the upcoming changes to stability, someone thought that it might be useful in wvw and bought out 3 stacks.

Fair enough, that makes sense and you clearly know more about the market than I do.

Destroying a gate in WvW, all I can see is wings, everywhere. For such a gorgeous and well designed game, I’m struggling to understand the decision to put these in, but they are popular and more and more people will own them, and each to his own. I just wondered if there is a way to stop displaying them? I know we can choose not to display our own back items. I think it would help if the events could scale higher than they currently do with number of players around. With the megaservers and new dailies concentrating players into a particular zone, some events are over in a flash and can be hard to tag even with good DPS.

I actually really like the new system because it does encourage players to revisit zones, and makes them feel lively and well-populated – I just feel the events need to scale higher now that the majority of the player-base are maxed out in level and builds, and know he events well.

Exactly my point. The megaservers have made everything more populated, and no longer do we have whole zone wide NPC’s dead. I think the game needs re-tuning a little now though, as some of these events are pretty broken as they are, but could be SO much fun.

I wanted to make a post which shares the frustrations of me and my Mrs who both play this game. I have been playing over a year now, and she is new to the game, after I managed to finally convince her how much better this is that the game she was currently ’WOW’d’ by

I could go on for ages about details, but you guys know the score enough for me to not need to do that. The points are

1) Commanders who pretty much bully you for starting an event or not doing what you are expected. My partner was actually upset by the abuse she received for not knowing she wasn’t meant to start an event. The commander was reported, but this did bring up several issued about the ‘zerg’ mentality and what this means for people who would like to play relaxed and do things at their own pace, which brings me to…

2) People who know the events so well they camp the mob spawns and you can’t get a hit in. We did the Grenth post-event several times and hardly managed to get any loot! She used plenty of AoE as an Ele and I use an Axe as a ranger, but kitten the mobs are downed so fast we can’t get a look in without knowing where the spawns are.

Don’t get me wrong, this is all good for players who enjoy it, and sometimes I do like to roll with the zerg, but this game gives you no real option but play that way, which is to it’s detriment imo. I expect a flurry of gg and qq replies which is cool, but this is a genuine issue for us, and I still regard GW2 as in my top 3 all time games, I’ve logged over 1,000 hours in a year and will play for a long time to come. My fear is that HoT will consist of more of this.

All it needs IMO is the mobs to scale better, so they don’t die within 0.5 seconds. I am not naïve enough to expect this to be changed or anything, and we adapt to how it is and still manage to find ways to have fun, but it’s still mega-annoying.

Surely it would make more sense that Anet balance the game so that not every dungeon run is faster using ‘zerk’ only. MMO players naturally find the fastest way to get loot and use it over and over, which is probably why over 70% of the LFG parties say zerk only. I love this game, but it does have a lot of systems which seem to segregate the player Base and cause bullying.

Whichever way you view it, paying a lot of money for a precursor or legendary after this announcement would be a questionable decision. A sensible player would wait before spending large amounts of gold, which alone would effect prices as there (realistically) should be supply but very low demand.
