I have played over 100 matches of Stronghold and I don’t think I will be queuing up for it anymore. The whole mode feels sloppy and doesn’t have any flow to it. You need bombers to open the gates, but the enemy team kills the bombers and completely stops all progress until you spawn more. During this current beta test I played around 20 matches and all the games ended in a time over, except for 2.
7. Make a proper GvG mode, a la GW1.
I think they’re terrible gameplay in any game mode. Damage should be done by players not stupid siege weapons that do huge damage to multiple people at once.
No way man, I like to sit half way across the map and kill everything quick without even seeing what I’m shooting at.
If you are joining with people, you should be matched up with others doing the same. If you join solo, you should ONLY be matched against other people who joined solo, simple as that. I don’t understand why this hasn’t been done yet. (maybe because there are not a lot of people playing PvP and it would split the numbers up too much).
We waited 3 years boys. Enjoy the greatness.
This isn’t a PvP map. You may as well be completing a heart for your world completion with the amount of PvE you do in this map. The worst part is this is the only map/game type we are getting for the expansion.

It’s too late, GW1 has more of a chance. It actually had proper competitive modes and balance. This game is a mess.
I am so happy to finally see an FOV slider in Guild Wars 2, THANK YOU!
I noticed an issue though when I quit the game and came back later to play the FOV had been reset back to the default setting, however the slider was still all the way over to the right. I dragged the slider 1 notch to the left and back over to the right and the FOV instantly increased again back to where it should be.
A small issue, but annoying that I have to re-adjust it every time I start the game. Again thank you so much for these changes!
Not a huge bug here but, I noticed none of my non-ranked matchmaking games are counting in my statistics. I played about 5 matches and my stats did not change. I tried restarting the game but that did not help. Not game breaking, but has anyone else noticed this?

I had to check the top 100 leaderboards NA and Eu to know how credible these people posting, that GW1 > GW2, and i didn’t see any of you there. So I guess this thread is about people who suck at GW2 but GW1 and concluding that GW2 is an inferior game.
So only the top 100 players have any say as to whether the game is good/fun or not?…
I wasn’t a top player in GW1 either, but I know it has better PvP and a much more enjoyable/fun PvP experience.
Yep, just had this issue. I remember this problem 9 months ago before I stopped playing. Just came back a week ago and this problem is STILL not fixed?!
I just played a few rounds of sPvP after not playing for about 6 months, and it’s just as bad if not worse then before. The PvP in GW1 is amazing, it’s the best PvP I have ever played. GW2 is the complete opposite. It’s not fun, it feels random, and it’s glitchy. Every fight I was in, I had control of my character for about 5 seconds. How did they decide things like fear, invisibility, and being knocked over repeatedly and flung across the map were a good thing for GW2 PvP? They should completely scrap the PvP in GW2 and just port the GW1 PvP over. (I know that is impossible, but it’s the only thing that will make GW2 sPvP any better)

I want a full expansion. These quick little events that only last a small amount of time are not equal to a full expansion. At this rate we will never see any new skills, character classes, races or a new full map.
These events every 2 weeks are fine, as long as you are also creating a complete expansion as well.
At this point in GW1’s life, Factions was coming out soon. A brand new campaign, 2 new characters, a whole new map, 100’s of skills, brand new armor sets and new enemies as well as a new a multiplayer mode and challenge missions.
All we have in GW2 a year later, is fractals and some new gem store items.
We want new character classes, new races, new armor and weapons, new weapon types for each character, a new map (just remake Cantha GW2 style), a new multi-player game type with 3-4 maps, more guild features like guild halls and GvG.If you can deliver this type of core content without an expansion then that’s fine, but these little 2 week mini updates just feel like something to keep us busy for a few hours, rather then a true full expansion experience.
And the amount of content combined between Factions and Prophecies is still considerably less than the amount of content in Guild Wars 2.
That is to say, after Guild Wars 1 was out a year and Factions was released, there was less Guild Wars 1 content than there was Guild Wars 2 content at launch.
That maybe so, but I played Prophecies from the day it launched all the way up until the day Factions launched, never stopped and never got bored. I played GW2 until December and stopped because I was completely bored (Came back to check out the event, already bored again. See the problem here?). I feel the smaller amount of content in GW1 was much stronger, especially compared to these little mini updates.
This may also be due to the fact that I have not had to ever change my characters skills (since theres a total of like… 5 per class exaggerating) and the SPvP is complete trash, but those are flaws with the actual game itself and not so much the “content”.
I guess I want an expansion because in my mind that’s the only way ANet can improve all the things I don’t like about the game and also add all the things I want in the game. It feels like since we are just getting these smaller updates, the game is going to stay completely the same (no new skills, no new characters, no new PvP, no new real maps, no permanent changes to the game).
Like I said before, if they can find a way to add these major things through these small updates then fine. If by the end of the year we have a new race and a new character and a new map to explore, I will be happy. And also, I’d be cool with them doing the small updates IF they were also working on a full expansion pack at the same time, then I’d be completely cool with it.

This worked for me.
It’s working now guys (the patch at least), I see other people posting about the game not working after the patch. Grr!
Ah, I just posted a new topic on this with basically the same screenshot haha.. Good to know I am not alone, I hope they fix this soon I want to play the Winter update!
When starting the launcher to begin patching, it opens to a blank grey launcher with no progress bar or anything. It’s completely blank and it’s not actually downloading anything (I use iStat to check my download and upload rates). Anyone else having this problem? I have had 0 issues with starting the game before todays patch. Thank you.
Just tried to 4v1 a thief on a cap point. He kept doing massive damage go invisible, come out of invisibility do more damage and stop us from capping, go invisible again/ He downed 2 of us before we killed him and delayed us from capping the point until his team mates got there. How is this fair? When he was spinning in the air no one could hit him.
GW1 is a better game, that’s why people are upset. GW2 should of been the next step of GW1, not a completely different game.
There is a bug with the Emissary of the Mad King achievement that is not counting all of my completed Halloween achievements. Yesterday I completed the Pumpkin Carving achievement and earned the title. It did NOT count towards the “Emissary of the Mad King” achievement track. Today I completed the"Holloween Huntin’" achievement and it DID count towards the “Emissary of the Mad King” achievement track. Please fix this!
Is this the ONLY way to get the skins?

Just a quick update : I am on a 27’’ 2009 iMac and I always keep the resolution at 2560 × 1440. It seems that changing the resolution to 1920 × 1200 has helped the problem.
EDIT: Never mind it still happens, but seems a bit better.

Thank you SO much for reducing the camera smoothing. It would be even better if it was gone completely but this is a step in the right direction!

Did you restart the client?
Yes of course.. I have Guild Wars 2 set to full screen, so when it starts up it automatically goes full screen.
It would be awesome if they brought back the Ritualist. But doesn’t the Engineer already sort of do what the Ritualist did in GW1? They put down healing and damage turrets like the Ritualist could (except they were spirits).
I’ve got 6 so far haha.
It sold 2 million in the first 2 weeks. I am sure it’s way passed that now.
Yes, I stopped doing it around level 30.
But… I can window mode and drag the game window as wide as I want, so I don’t understand this explanation.

@DeadPhone – The rotation speed doesn’t help. It still happens, I’ve tried all of these options are lowest and max settings.
@Todd – I am playing in full screen, I cannot click away from Guild Wars. I know the problem you are talking about in windowed mode, but this is a separate issue all together.

The 3rd tab is sound options :-). Just reply once you have checked in game what the setting is actually called.

The only slider in the graphics options is “Full-Screen Gamma”. This just changes the brightness.

What is the option called? I already have everything under the graphics options tab set to the lowest.
This game works the same way GW1 did in terms of “gaining power” at max level. GW1 was successful and lasted until GW2.

When rotating the camera using the right mouse button, it will sometimes randomly spazz out and look a random direction. I tried both full screen and windowed mode and it happens in both. I also tried turning on and off all of the Mac mouse options. It happens with any combination of options turned on or off. Something I noticed is when you hold right click the mouse cursor all of a sudden appears in the middle of the screen for a split second before it disappears, no matter where you click on the screen (not sure if that is relevant).
This exact same problem was present with the “Crossover” port which was done by Codeweavers in Guild Wars 1. I know the Guild Wars 2 client is also not a Mac native client and is also a port being done by a different company, so this could be the same issue Codeweavers had with the Guild Wars 1 port. I have a feeling it is something to do with the camera smoothing in the Guild Wars engine.
This game is NOT GUILDWARS 1 nor was it meant to be!
Are things Wrong with this game hell ya! But the only thing it has in common with guildwars 1 is lore.
That’s the biggest problem IMO. As GW1 is a much better game then GW2 currently.
I agree, lets go back. GW1 had such clean PvP where you felt like you had control over what was going on. In GW2 it feels like the opposite. Stuff explodes, people go invisible, some clones run around and that about sums up GW2 PvP.
Yeah, I got GW1 when it launched (even got the Collector edition <3 my glowing hands) and it was the only game I put significant time into. I played it all the way up to GW2 launch. I am only rank 11 in sPvP, but so far I feel GW2 is 10 steps back from where GW1 was and sort of wish GW2 never existed because most of the GW1 player base is playing GW2 now and wont go back.
I would trade GW2 for a brand new GW1 expansion.
As a GW1 player, I am curious to know what others think about the PvP in GW2.
Guild Wars 2 has no business being on consoles.
Good games are made for the PC and ONLY the PC.
So I guess games like Borderlands 2 suck? According to you anyway.
From what I have seen ( I am only rank 9 and a half ) Mesmer and Thief are the most annoying things, making the game nearly unplayable.
I noticed the achievements for things like Slayer or Conqueror only have a set number of tiers before it stops recording your progress (using Slayer as an example, once you max the achievement it will no longer keep track of how many kills you get in PvP).
It would be way more awesome if these were infinite, like the salvaging achievement which will keep track of how many things you have salvaged forever.
Stopped reading after you said GW1 wasn’t very different from other MMO’s. You most likely never played GW1.
I would love a native client and not just a Cider port from TansGaming :-(
It’s not actually a native mac client, it’s just a cider port using a wrapper(TransGaming is doing the port), so I wouldn’t hold my breath.
In bootcamp I get 45-50 FPS, using the MAC OSX beta client I am getting 2-3 FPS. I am still using Snow Leopard, could this be the reason?
