It’s not so bad when you get T6 materials back. The only thing I hate is when you put in the 1 recipe it spits out 2 ectos and you’re like, “gee thanks…”

Currently on 58 clovers. Getting there!

I got my Dusk about a week ago, you guys should stop crying and just play the game.*

In all seriousness if I didn’t have my precursor I’d be feeling let down just as much as the rest of you. I put 500 rare greatswords into the mystic forge. Not only did that cost a lot of gold but crafting that many swords takes forever and it’s a pain in the kitten After putting in all my greatswords I was left with 35 exotics and was let down. I was torn between throwing in the exotics or selling them to get my losses back. After I threw in my second set of exotics, the toilet pooped out Dusk. I wasn’t excited as much as I was relieved that it wasn’t all a waste.

The question is what do you do about precursors to make them unique and acquiring them a challenge? Do you craft one? We already have the Gift of [Legendary Name] which is the crafted gift. Do you rely on RNG? Gift of Fortune relies on a lot of RNG because of the clovers. Do you go for playing the game? That’s what the Gift of Mastery is for. If I was to use a system for precursors I would do something with achievements and achievement points.

Giving a bit of background to my idea, I’m drawing a bit from Star Wars Galaxies and one of the ways SOE had you become a Jedi. When they introduced the village, before you could even access the content that let you grind your way to being a Jedi you had to get a certain amount of badges in order to “feel a connection to the force.” Once you had enough, an NPC approached you and sent you on your way to the village (it was inaccessible if you didn’t do this).

So here’s my suggestion for acquiring your precursor. You need to get x amount of achievement points AND complete the following achievements:
- Defeat a starter zone boss (Shadow Behemoth, Maw, Fire Elemental, etc.)
- Defeat the Shatterer
- Defeat Tequatl the Sunless
- Defeat the Claw of Jormag
- Defeat Zhaitan.

Very specific achievements related to the story and world in GW2. Once you have all those conditions met, you’re sent on the scavenger hunt for the pieces you need for each precursor piece. Each of these pieces are hidden randomly and are different for each individual person. Don’t give exact locations, but give clues in the form of riddles.

Do this once per account as achievements are account bound. Everyone would be able to get one precursor weapon and would fill Anet’s design idea of having your legendary start from the precursor. Want a second legendary? A third? You’re going to have to buy one or go use the mystic toilet.

It would have to be tailoring or leatherworking as silk/leather is pretty cheap.

Is it possible that you have less of a chance of getting one if you use the exact same item every time? Maybe you have better luck with this if you use different types of rares and exotics?

Have people tried doing a variety of different weapons? I know Carrion is the cheapest but maybe mixing them in with the others would help.

About MadCast

Back in 2007, MadCast was founded on two basic principles. It would be a gaming community that would be bigger than just one game and it would be a community that doesn’t live or die based off a single leader or a handful of admins at the top. We get into games based on the interests of our community and our hard working admins are picked by our members. Since 2007, we have been involved in Battlefield 2142, Call of Duty 4, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Left 4 Dead, Brink, Call of Duty: Black Ops, World of Warcraft, Battlefield 3, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Minecraft, Dota 2 and more. We have experience in running successful servers, competitive teams and MMO guilds. Our currently played games include League of Legends, Dota 2, Tribes: Ascend and Diablo 3. With admins hosting events in those games as well as others, there’s always something to do and someone to play with. Back in May we ran a very successful LoL tournament with 11 teams, and we are looking to go bigger and better in the future. Right now we’re expanding into Planetside 2 and Guild Wars 2.

What sets us apart from other gaming clans/guilds/communities is that we have a very strong focus on our website and teamspeak. When you have a community with gamers who play various types of games, there’s going to be others you won’t see playing the same game as you. Our site is what brings everyone together and if you’re not active on our forums and on the site in general you’re missing out on a lot. For starters it’s a great place to meet everyone and more importantly you stay in the know of what’s going on. We’re currently upgrading and adding new features.

MadCast in Guild Wars 2

In Guild Wars 2 we run nightly dungeon runs and participate in World vs World. We cover all aspects of the game, whether it be in PvE or PvP. In addition we host regular events in Guild Wars 2 to try and bring in the entire community for a night of fun. We emphasize community, so being active in guild chat and getting to know your guildies is important.

How to Join the Guild

If you want to join the guild, the best way is to register on our forums , introduce yourself and say you’re interested in joining our guild. From there someone will track you down and get you an invite. Or you can simply get a hold of me (contact info at the top) and I’ll get you in asap.

Joining MadCast

Being a Full Member isn’t required for being part of our guild, but it does have a lot of benefits. It’s there for people who want to have a community to be a part of. Full Members get priority access to events, first dibs in giveaways and plenty of other perks and opportunities both within games and community wide. More information on becoming a Full Member is available on our site.

Closing

Thanks for taking your time to go through this thread. I know it’s a lot to cover, and if you want you’re more than welcome to hop on teamspeak and join us in some games and get a feel for the community. Guests are always welcome to join us both in regular games as well as events.
