The problem isn’t exactly that it’s impossible to cleanse, the issue is putting yourself at a severe disadvantage by doing it, sacrificing more than any class in order to do it at all and still having it be completely unreliable as it’s one stack only and at any time you are likely to have at least two damaging conditions and at least one detrimental condition, so you may well end up swapping weps and legend to get rid of a cripple and 1 stack of vulnerability while keeping 10 stacks of torment and 15 bleed. Not only that but conditions are reapplied way faster than you can ever hope to cleanse.

TL;DR: In a teamfight that build will still melt like a pile of icecream on Scarlett Johanssons kitten.

I agree before going back to my Mesmer purely for pvp purposes I desperately tried to make this build work.. This build worked some games but as soon as I see a team of 3 NECROS and 1 Warrior.. I know it’s time to switch (I know I’m not the best Revenant player, heck I’m still learning the class but i have never felt so useless in pvp on any game than this season) it’s gotten really frustrating now. Before I stopped if win loads of games be 1 pip off of my next rank then lose 2 games again.. Then win 2 then lose 2 win 2 lose 2 it’s driven me up the wall haha (but I’m not mad before anyone accuses me of raging, think of me as a babbling mad man in a lab or something)

I LOVE the wrist effect, it’s great flavor for the class, Revs are always channeling (apparently, the legends even chat to you out of combat) so it makes sense the effect is always there.

why not go for the middle-ground? it’s always on,but it is removed when using the reduced particle effects option?

I’d personally be very sad if it was removed.

I didn’t say remove it permanently anywhere? If you read the post, you’d see that it would be visible in the same conditions that the elementalist attunement wristlets are visible.

To clarify:
1. Invisible when weapons are stowed
2. Visible when weapons are drawn

And from a flavor perspective, constantly being on mistfire makes very little sense. When their power is really invoked and manifested, like when a person is about to fight or attacking, it makes perfect sense and is a flavor win for sure. Just standing around in a trading post it would get strange looks from bystanders. (at least until the world was acclimated to 1/9th of the population with their arms on green fire, which I guess could happen?)

The key difference being from an elementalist the legends are always active. They speak to you outside of combat too where as an elementalist could simply calm there powers, I think the partial effect graphic option would be best I like the effects around my wrists while I’m chilling it makes me feel like I am still in control of the legend who is talking my ear off outside combat

Revenants aren’t OP it’s the herald that is :p anyway nothing brand new comes out balanced this is why it’s a part of the beta after all they addressed the Mallyx issue and completely went over the top on changing that (going to miss you displacement I still feel it should of been 1 burst that displaces once on a long cool down but beggars can’t be choosers) when I was being a Revenant I didn’t feel I was all that powerful until I took the herald line Glint that’s when I could easily stall a point up to the part where people gave up & left...

You have to take into account as well that Druid was crazy OP in healing without even needing healing power gear so Revenant isn’t the only OP thing here. Also chronomancer I feel is harder to fight than another Revenant. Chronomancer do so well at avoiding damage while punching face.

Just don’t complain until AFTER it is out. For all you know the beta weekend survey people will most likely of addressed this and they will most likely look at it. Just don’t expect any class to be perfectly balanced especially the second it’s born

I honestly don’t understand your problem with this? The story of heart of thorns is to do with Sylvari betraying the pact and giving into mordy’s call... They are going to be going through with an eternal struggle. Saying its a bad design is seriously laughable. It’s a great one it’s giving uniqueness to a race that will probably be repeated in future expansion packs to other races.

It’s not major game breaking it’s not like you have to make a sylvari or you cannot finish the story. Not everyone will care most people will just want to kill the dam oversized plant dragon (I will be playing through on a sylvari alt just to hear it) but in all seriousness how hard is it to make an extra character and play through the story? I always play through living world stuff with multiple characters.

Instead of pulling your hair out over a little flavour feature look forward to the game or start levelling a sylvari or hell just wait till wiki has quotes or someone has uploaded the clips on YouTube. I mean it’s going to happen no matter what anyone says

Originally a Canthan Ritualist serving the Emperor at the time of Shiro’s betrayal but killed by the assassin they were trapped between the mists and our world until recently having been drawn out by the gathering of power and magic in Tyria. Now the tables having turned the former ritualist now revenant now invoking and controlling Shiro’s power amongst many others.

Tossing up between the smokey white(for a more ghostly appearance) or jet black hair(more in line with Canthans). Blind eyes (Celestial), combination of Orrian and Primeval skins, greys, dark blues and blacks.

Ele is my current main, I was at one point seriously considering replacing it with my Rev. In the end I may end up sharing that spot between the two of them depending on how Tempest turns out.

Although I am hoping we get a legendary pole arm looking staff and loving the idea of the medieval colour schemes! Searching through 160 inventory slots isn’t practical at all.

I’m not much of a role player, and I don’t really intend to follow the lore background of Revenant 100%. I’ve always found the idea of scholar classes rather fascinating, so the simple version of the “feel” for my character is that my Necromancer died and began learning the fighting techniques of legends and returns as a Revenant. Kind of that beyond the mists, scholar but still a warrior vibe. I dunno, it’s what suits me.

His name will be Sikari Mist, my necro main (High Warlord Sikari) never really had a surname, nor has Sikari ever since I played MMOs, but I feel like now would be a fitting time and a fitting way to give him one.

He’ll be rocking Sword/Sword + Hammer, and likely Shiro/Mallyx. Mallyx is currently a bit of a wildcard, as much of it’s use depends on Glint.

Been toying around a lot with looks, and after quite a bit of testing, I think I’ll go with something like this, as I feel it goes well with the “Sikari Mist” name.

Also, I plan to main Revenant.

the problem here is the revenant needs weapon swap the weapon and legend needed to be together to work well and not being able to weapon swap made the second legend feel kind of... half full? also you have to bare in mind the revenant cannot exactly choose its own utility moves elite or even heal skill they are bound to the legend.

engineers have a lot of kits that give them many many new weapon skills and they can customise there utilities heal skill and elite skill that also effect and change there class abilities

elementalist is kind of a maybe in my opinion but to the same reason as the engineer i have to disagree, elementalists can swap attainments giving them 20 weapon skills at 1 time as well as there utilities elite and healing customisation and on top of all that they can conjure weapons giving them and extra +5 weapon skills per conjure item in the professions

hope i don’t sound to sour for this and i sound fair? i do love elementalist but i already have 4 weapon swaps when i think about it :P

A Charr Warrior who is conscripted to fight against Mordremoth as part of Smodur The Unflinching’s pledge to help with the campaign. During the pact fleet crash, the majority of her warband die, and the rest of them are killed by Mordrem on the ground. After this, she seeks ways to become stronger to seek revenge against Mordremoth and the corrupted Sylvari (and probably all other sylvari.), and in turn becomes a Revenant as a way to do that.

What race are you going with?

What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Mainhand sword looks very nice, partly because its the only Revenant weapon capable of killing things effectively. and the offhand axe. I like the bit of CC and mobility it has. and I don’t want to run sword/sword because I already have a character who runs dual swords, and I like to keep all my characters unique.

What is your favourite legend?
Shiro so far, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I prefer Glint when she arrives.

How are you going to make your Revenant look?
I like to make each of my character’s armour a different colour, and so far, the only colours I don’t have are White, Pink and Brown, so ill probably make her a mix of White and subtle Pinks. Im also yet to embrace the Albino Charr fad, so I might give her white fur and pink eyes.

Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
We’ll see. I haven’t judged Revenant yet based on the betas. Im reserving that for when we can play them at full strength, with all 5 core specs, and their 5 legends.

I actually solo roam so i wont have anyone to cleanse my conditions They will eat me alive just like they did back in 2012 on warrior. Kill fast or be killed style. With the sustain of other classes its obvious that it will end up as be killed style.

Why i would put generosity (100g sigil lol) and another 1 i dont even rebember when everyone else around is free to use air/fire or w/e else they want?

As for Mallyx the Ta.. hes so useless that i wouldnt use him even consider him in condition builds as it stands now. Poor stripable resistance, damage from conditions which wont do anything in power builds and it elite copy olny 1 stack when you can have 50 bleeds on yourself. Well played man, well played. Not to mention that allies may nerf you if they cleanse yours conditions during your Mallyx stance..

Each to there own I guess but you have to remember whT we experienced in the beta was just the beta and figures are changing! Not everything will be shiny and cleaned up yet but I guess we will both have to see the final product of the Revenant to discover what’s what (: and I do honestly understand where you are coming (:

The elite spec might have something interesting as the datamined shield had protection and healing it might even get a trait that helps remove conditions but we know nothing of what it can do so I won’t claim it will it’s just a guestimation or something Rou can reach and add to a trail line :p

I honestly found both Ventari and Jalis hald decent with room for improvement and until we get another beta to play with the figure changes I won’t be able to say if it’s good or bad :p
As for mallyx I feel it has potential but does need a lot of work and it’s 1 of those ones that we won’t know until we can feel the figure changes for ourselves (:

On the dual swords, I’ve got a serious blade fetish, so it comes naturally with the Rev for me. I only wish we could have had GS and daggers added in the mix too.

I hear ya I wish we could have a NA server and a EU server so I can play with my NA & my EU friends and me too I love swords every game I have to be some kind of spell blade or someone who can’t enchant there swords or get possessed while wielding swords I had the Mesmer for that boy now Revenant feels to me like it fills the role much better

I plan on going Sword/Sword or Sword/Axe with the staff on my weapon swap (so freaking cool we can weapon swap now) and I probably won’t be using ventari’s legend I’m looking at the staff from a different angle well the angle it was kind of announced as with Ventari but I’m going to use it mainly to tank and support a little with (: when I need shiir DPS I will use Shiro (hah see what I did that Shiro Shiir I is pronounce ee in Japanese haha No)
But that feeling of whacking someone in heavy amazing looking armour with a stick is just so appealing I might actually make a second Revenant and try make him look like an old man and keep shouting GET OFF MA LAWN every time I hit someone in pvp

I’m the same every time I log on to my Mesmer I end up just talking to friends instead of doing anything xD well o made an ascended mace and axe for my Revenant now to go with Bolt and Bifrost I will probably need to make a hammer next but I’m like just crafting and talking I need my Revenant so bad!

I probably won’t use it as I have another name in mind but Invoxicating (invoke intoxicating) if anyone wants that feel free to use it!

There are plenty of sigils that can remove condi’s and I’m sure you won’t always be alone so a friend might be able to cleanse you or turn your conditions into boons (: also remember mallyx has Resistance in demon stance and in his traits so you can abuse all conditions on you by switching to mallyx putting up that Resistance and deal more damage! You can also pulse those conditions out to enemies with certain traits and I can’t remember but a utility or the Elite does the same too (:

I would love master Togo I miss our bold wise companion who always stared at my character blankly I would love to invoke him and shiro and hear him slap down shiro’s rude remarks with wise words that really annoy shiro >:D

I don’t even play since release and I regret that. I missed so much of the LS1.

But in the time I played, I loved playing my thief (and even today I do) but since the announcement of HoT and the revenant as new profession, I’ve fallen in love with it. And no matter how weak he will be (and I’m pretty sure he won’t be weak at all) he’s gonna be my new main.

Aww yeah I understand I’ve had 1 or 2 long breaks from the game and I’m kinda social logging on every once and a while now waiting for that Revenant! And even if it becomes squishy there is always a way around it I played Mesmer since release and my Lord is there a lot of ways to die in seconds xD hehe

A Heart full of Hate and anger for the whole species of Elder dragons and sharpened blades are ready.

Asura Revenant! That’s awesome and I like the revenge and anger over poor tybalt I wish we could invoke him ;D maybe glint would allow us to invoke the fallen 3 but probably not :p hehe

Backstory: I leave this blank, because I’m not that creative. But I’m pretty creative in picking a name for my character.
Race: I’m not sure yet. Either boring old Human or a Charr because of Rytlock.

Weapons: For PvE Sword/Sword + Hammer with Shiro and Jalis or Glint as legends. As for PvP it depends what is more viable in terms of destroying the enemy. Either Condi Mace/Axe + Staff with Mallyx and Ventari as legends or DPS Sword/Sword + Staff with Shiro and Ventari as legends.

Personally I’m making it out my Mesmer died when the pale tree was under attack and she returned the favour by ressurecting me as a sylvari Revenant sounds a little silly but I like the back story hehe

So I’m not expecting this to happen obviously but it’s just an idea for all of us dying to play Revenant constantly waiting for more Information doing a wee wee dance on our chairs looking like we have had way too much sugar but if Revenant gets completed before heart of thorns is released do you think there is a possibility or a way to let people who pre-purchased get a day or 2 early with the Revenant? I would like to add a extra 2 days to my week off when th expansion comes out to not sleeping and playing the game glued to my screen like a Mindless Vegetable (I am sylvari yes pun intended) :p

I still don’t understand where people are getting this whole (if a specialisation gets a new weapon the other classes will not get that weapon) thing from
Did they actually confirm that somewhere? I must of missed it and maybe all 5 legends will be main but the specialisation will allow us to control them in a different way maybe becoming avatars of them like the dervish could also replacing and changing all current weapon Attacks into a specific set of 5 for the legends

Even if the Rev does’nt get greatsword this time around it will be in a future specialisation

If glint is going to be our Spec Legendary I imagine maybe Focus, Shield or Sceptre... But saying that throwing hammers and slapping people with staves I wouldn’t put it past the Revenant team to make a dagger act like a focus :p (and I say tht in a good way)

I think everything will work okay with everything I mean it would be a little silly if mace and axe only worked with mallyx and not your other legend swap (: I imagine that a specific weapon might feel stronger with 1 legend but I think of it like this wether I use Condi or power on my Mesmer my utilities are usually survival or something to counter the counter of what I am using if that makes sense? (:

Honestly, this is pretty hilarious. If they spent time adding dialogue like this for the Revenant I would not be mad at all, even if it took a little longer for HoT to come out. They are already adding some dialogue for your character in the open world, so I could see this really being fun.

Why thank you (: and yeah I want to hear the evil ones plotting against the Revenant the heroic ones giving advice and backing the Revenant up and then the combination of the 2 be a confliction I’m looking forward to it to be honest it helps me role play as my insane self in tyria ^^

So this could be way out of reach wrong but I wanted to share a thought that popped into my head when reading about the Melee staff on the Revenant encouraging players to move around the enemy whilst attacking

So we have seen a trait a believe its on thief where if you Attack on the persons sides or back you deal extra damage? Someone please correct me on this as im not actually 100% sure

But what if when SHIRO is revealed and he has a deals more damage at the sides and or back theme in his traits to go with him? I am guessing maybe sword/dagger will be shiros thing if not sword/sword but I just found this interesting

So basically long story short SHIRO & Ventari sharing the staff to dance around your enemy dealing bonus damage as well as being able to switch into a more supportive role to knock enemies away from allies or to just continuously knock them back for fun

to be honest i was very disappointed. after thinking "ooo something really exciting for us this week? can’t wait!" then having a short stream with no real new information just some dwagon hwuntwer footage and basically info read from the news page... was kind of bad to be honest but hey ho beggars cant be choosers from now on if i hear "exciting announcement coming" i just wont get hyped

my hype on the expansion reveal was very high

then it kind of went down a little

then the revenant was revealed and i went freaking crazy for like 2 months

then my hype died

then chronomancer was revealed my hype was revived
then dragon hunter made me sigh.....
then reaper made me hyped a little again
then last night... it just died & i guess the last hype i will probably get is when a release date and pre-pay thing comes out

but for now im just like ... meh my hypes kind of slipped away

can we possibly get a option when right clicking a teammate to choose “never side me with this player again” or something… i keep encountering a team of the same people and they don’t have a clue what they are doing. me and 2 friends keep going into ranked in a team of 3 and keep getting people who either troll about or have 0 clue whats going on and its starting to really suck and get annoying. i keep being put with the same people on a daily basis and i don’t want to team with those specific ones.
