I’m quite a novice when it comes to making my own build.
Basically I want something for open world HoT with conditions and can take some hits.
I completely ignored power, is that a bad thing?
If I decided to do something else, with minions, do they scale off your gear and do they require power?
EDIT: How can I get more than the 30% condi duration that it shows?
Please look at my gear choices as well, thanks

staffs and staves are both linguistically correct.
Using Staffs when referring explicitly to Staves is indeed incorrect.
If I have to explain >.<
I feel cheated. The people buying the game now get so much more for the nearly the same money. And to make matters worse, the price is too high. I used to put Anet on a pedestal, but they’ve lost that right forever.

As someone who was here from the very beginning I feel a cheated.
A FTP player can join the game for zero dollar investment, but has to purchase HoT to receive that content. Okay, no argument there until we look at how unfair this is to veterans.
Original GW2 was what $60 for standard? HoT is $49 for standard. So basically A FTP player can get everything for $49, yet veterans have to pay a total of roughly $110?
Seems to me veterans should be getting HoT for free. Correct my logic any way you see fit. I’d like to be enlightened.
I agree with you, wholeheartly, but lots of people will bring up the fact you had hours of fun with those $60 and thus you should be more than happy to shell another $50 for the game when others will get full content for much less. There is nothing much to say, Mods and Community managers only shows up to support the ones happily accepting this, NEVER showing a word of understanding for our concerns.
The only solution is to drop the game, spread the word, inform the others that ANet stops caring for you once they get your money in the bag and the only important customers for them are the potential new ones.
I’ll be voting with my wallet.
If the expansion was $30 for owners of the base game I may bite. But $50? I don’t think so.
Oh well, there are other games

It seems anytime I mention GW2 to some one they tell me yea but, the skills are so boring? GW2 characters do seem to have fewer skills than other MMO’s but, do we really need 10 rows of skill sets?
GW2 skills and the use of them are in no way visceral and to me that’s such an important feeling. Tera, now that’s visceral combat.
To me the amount of skills usable at one time is not the measure of a boring or not game.
What kind of developer forces these setting on their players?
I just started playing FFXIV ARR and they have a setting where I can adjust everyone elses spell effects. I can even turn them all completely off! This. Is. Awesome.
Never miss a dodge again.

Hurry up please.
Temporal curtains swiftness stacks with no existing swiftness duration. Seemingly done to stop people running back and forth over it to stack high amounts of swiftness.
Understood and that’s a good point.
Though a proper check in place would eliminate that abuse.
If Signet of Inspiration’s swiftness is active and you use Temporal Curtain, they do not stack. SoI’s swiftness runs out and you’re left waiting on Focus 4 cooldown.
If TC’s swiftness is up first it will stack and work as it should.
I know you have hundreds if not thousands of bugs to fix. But I thought I’d throw this out there as an fyi. And you probably already know anyway.

So this is an intended slap in the face then and not an accident?
Taking away something we had is a slap in the face.
Giving us an additional few lvls after 400 including what we HAD BEFORE would have been the respectable thing to do.
Intended or bug? Speak up!
1-400 crafting is now only giving 7 levels. Tell me this isn’t on purpose and you’re fixing it asap.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1loupk/all_crafting_disciplines_now_give_7_levels_for/
If I’m reading the patch notes right, you’ve decreased crafting experience.
1-400 was 10 levels.
1-500 should be ~13-15 levels. But considering what it takes to get 400-500 maybe we should get 20 levels.
End of the year will be to late. When do the other games launch? ESO etc (ps beta is awesome).
ESO is not and will not be a threat to GW2. Some of the “etc” may have a minor impact though.
Oh golly gee, heaven forbid we had to walk anywhere anymore!
People don’t do the event becase they don’t want to.
“People don’t do the event becase they don’t want to.”
Thank you for pointing out the obvious, Captain.
When a person makes a decision to do or not to do something, there is always a reason or else you’ve not made a decision.
The decision to not do this event is because it’s a pita to get to, comparatively speaking.
Humans almost always take the path of less resistance, it’s in our nature. I myself don’t mind running to this event. But running to it and never finding anyone there is fairly pointless.
I have yet to do this event because no one ever wants to bother. The closest waypoint is in a ridiculous location too far away. Between that WP (Gladefall) and the event are tons of unavoidable mobs, a lot of them ranged.
If you build it, they will come.
This is on SoR.
Looks like a fairly standard apoth build using axe/dagger & sword/torch. Your lucky he was using felines because all that build needs is a bit of hard cc so he can have a couple seconds to dump every condition on you at once. He wasn’t lacking condition damage, he just lacked the cc to hold you in place, therefore missing many skills.
Heh, I wasn’t the Thief. I ran across the video in the forum and became curious. It seems pretty tanky. The regen and protection, what are those from?
I found this Ranger build to be pretty amazing as far as defense goes. It doesn’t seem to put out a ton of damage though.
At ~4:13 Video
2nd vid, Ranger at ~4:00 was pretty amazing. I thought it as funny how he got bored and wanted to leave as you would never have killed him, without help that is.
How was he so tanky? And it seemed like he had regen and protection every 5 seconds Oo
Thank you very much
Turn off those nameplates folks!
Nameplates for players not yet rendered always show up, regardless of the nameplates option setting. It’s completely horrible and I want it gone.
Couldn’t agree more. Nameplates in that screenshot makes it look like kitten .
Probably one of the biggest failures in this game. I’ve never felt heroic. You know, powerful! Every single mob in the game could easily hand me my kitten if I don’t play right.
And after a while that really begins to wear on me.
Passive speed boosts!
Some classes can get it with their first couple of skill points. Others in their late 20s, some not at all.
Every single class should have a passive that they can toggle on and off. And it should also auto toggle in and out of combat.
Not exactly sure what you are asking for….If it is remapping the 6-0 keys, you can do that under the keybind section in options.
If I meant remapping, I guess I would have said that
“Skill sets” meaning a set of skills 6-0, each set with varying skills that you choose.
Hitting a key bind would switch all or a only some skills 6-0 to other skills.
For skills 6-0 it would be nice to have different sets and key bind accessibility.
Out of combat of course
What really brought this idea on is the fact I change out my 25% speed boost quite absurdly often.
That particular problem could be solved via other means (all classes should have a 25% speed boost on toggle but reapplies itself out of combat). But it could also be solved with the aforementioned option.
Thank you all for the replies. I’m going to look into the survivor thing
I came back to the game 2 days ago and started a Necromancer. I’ve played 18 hours of /age time to lvl 24 and have only gathered 47 scrap thingies.
When I went to the Bazaar and saw the rose back piece I immediately fell in love with it.
But I’m now gravely disappointed because I know that with this horrendous drop rate of kite thingies, I’ll never own a rose.
Sure they’re on the TP for ~3g but I can’t afford that. And as soon as the bazaar is over and scraps no longer available, the price will go up quite a bit.
I do not and will not gamble with my real life money. Never have and never will. So buying the fortunes from the gem shop is against the way I do things.
I personally feel that if someone has been playing pretty hard for 18 hours in game time, 200 scraps would be and should be obtainable.
Now where is that corner, I have crying to do :’(
I just wanted to make a post for once that wasn’t a complaint, and say thank you for the mini pets. It was a really nice touch
I’d like to stop holding down this right mouse button. Such DUMB design, to the point of dur da dur. Archaic tab target = more dur da dur.
These two lame mechanics do not fit with all the bob-n-weave, stick-n-move, dodge-n-dive combat.
I want an option to select cursor, no cursor. I want a free mouse like in Tera, Neverwinter etc.
This current method is not healthy for your hands or wrists.
1:28 – 1:41 Dual wielding axes, no weapon switching. Can you spot the obvious lie here?
Thanks for the reports, everyone! This is an issue we’ve been tracking for a while now, and I’ve heard we may have a fix for it in the next few days. If you continue seeing it, please let us know.
Two months later and no fix
They have a new TP UI in the works and I can only hope it’s almost ready!
My ears are soft, supple and have no problems being comfortably tucked into my hoods. Do you honestly want them to get frost bit while I’m adventuring in the snowy, bitter cold Shiverpeak Mountains?
Now if I had a tail like those silly angry cats… well, that would be different
Feathered Headpiece, pic says it all:
From a business standpoint mostly. This page should NEVER be empty, ever.
The RIDICULOUS cost of the tier 3 cultural screams “gemstore real money conversion”.
~$200 for some virtual items? I lol at that.
Grind your butt off so I can toss away 100g on one single set of aesthetic armor? I lol at that too.
Lucky for me I think the majority of t3 looks awful. I prefer the Orders armor skins.
SWTOR launched without a dungeon finder and you see where that kind of failed thinking got them.
You don’t launch an MMO in 2012 without a LFG system. Especially when you know it’s going to be expected.
/boggle
If they would actually make it useful, sure. But fishing for the sheer joy of catching vendor trash, meh, you can keep that noise.
There should be two achievements. One for 100% map completion in WvW and one for PvE.
Forcing someone who despises PvE or PvP into that environment to complete the same achievement is
ludicrous.
Last time I checked, this was a game. Games are supposed to be fun. But the moment you start
shoving PvE aspects down PvP players throats and vice versa, it suddenly becomes no fun at all.
It’s just another lame game mechanic. The devs aren’t perfect. They could however be a little more thoughtful though.
Just put this in another post but why can’t we have cool stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcEWOC5YbYY
Not to mention that RIDICULOUS sound effect we currently have =\
Why can’t we have nice things like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcEWOC5YbYY
Clearly the sound effect needs to be much louder so our enemies can hear it from the other side of the zones/maps and be more of a screeching sound, plus make projectile faster and AoE.. Akin to this WW2 weapon.
That way you know there’s a Necromancer in the area and you better run!
“Nebelwerfer” oh that’s so fun to say!
I think damage meters SHOULD get implemented in the game… just a thought….
Not needed, so no.
Let them work on and fix things that are actually important.
Not in the least.
Not worth the time, money or effort.
Very few of them are even remotely appealing, esthetically or statistically (they are only for looks after all).
Please start using them, like 99% of the rest of the internet. You’re uglifying my bookmarks bar >(
