Guild Wars 2

Lately in matches I am running into a lot of Mesmers who bring Persisting Images in their build. It’s a pain because if I hit them with barrage then they pop a few clones in that area and I end up eating a ton of damage. The only way I can think of to effectively deal with this is to engage…disengage and wait 6 seconds(length of retaliation on trait) and then start the fight back up. I would also save Barrage for their down state. Anyone have any better ideas? Mes will also often go into stealth so just focusing the mes doesn’t always work either.

I know it’s a specific question but I’m wondering if anyone has thought of a better solution.

There are still lots of great bows in the game…I happen to love the Jade Dragon Hornbow, Royal Ascalonian Longbow, and Ebon Vanguard Longbow just to name a few. I don’t think it’s fair to say great skins aren’t already in the game. These are just nostalgic pieces we would like to see added. No need to be that harsh Alain. I’m not interested in having a war with you so this will be all I will say, but have a look through all the great bows that are currently in game and I’m sure you will find something that you like.

I sincerely thank you though for all your hard work and effort you have put into the game over the past 4 years. It’s clear to see that you do listen to your community and do what you can.

The best play was right at the end when we capped home and then took out the beast for the win. There were lots though…insane skirmishes at mid. All 3 points were constantly being contested. It was just a real great game.

Nice! I had my first balanced ranked match yesterday, 500 – 498 in our favor. We were actually losing most of the match and at the end we managed to cap all three points in temple of silent storm while 10 points behind. The other team got 1 point 1 second too late to keep their lead. It was intense and a very fun match. I wish more of them were like that

I find it amazing how many keyboard warriors who spend the entire match typing essays on how the rest of their team sucks end up with the lowest or second lowest personal score on their side. I know that personal score isn’t a great indicator of how much you’re actually contributing in GW2’s PvP but I can’t see that typing volumes about how bad your own team is does much for your chances.

I had a match on Niflhel where someone spent the entire second half of the match constantly complaining (and I mean constantly, as in line, after line, after line with no breaks) about how terrible we were and moaning about being matched with such terrible players and then… we won. He was so focused on moaning that he didn’t even see that the remaining 4 players had managed to turn it around. It didn’t feel like a victory though.

This man speaks truth! Quit typing and contribute something.

But look at all of the rest of his game, ahahahaha. I guess in GW2’s pvp you have to hit the lottery to get a fair and competitive game. Lol that screenshot is awesome!

On some level I agree with you. I can hold my own in any match, but group comp needs to be addressed. I don’t know how the system works so it’s hard to speculate, but it certainly could use some tweaking. Out of all those matches listed the only one where I felt I had no chance was with the lone warrior match. We were a group of two warriors and three thieves. One guy even commented before the match this is the “GG” comp. It certainly did feel like it was over before it started as we were facing 2 necros, engi, War and Rev. I still tried but they did wreck us hard. I’ve had some pretty frustrating moments this season, but nothing is perfect, and I’m still playing so obviously I’m enjoying it. Also as you can see I’ve played the majority of my pvp as ranger (my main) but have started to branch out into other classes this season in order to improve my knowledge of other classes. I also only play ranked when it’s available. You’re not going to get better if you don’t play against the best competition that you can. That is just my own opinion.

Problem is from what I can see most of the time the guys raging about other players are the ones that need to step up their game. Quick example. I played 5 games in total last night. the first two were losses and I was matched both times with a player who was constantly belittling others on the map and of course nothing was his fault. Took a break to do some things and came back to play a couple more games. Same player was there, but this time I ended up being matched against him and turns out he was incredibly easy to take down. This went on to happen two more times in game and he blamed his “team” each time. In another separate instance I had a player telling everyone how terrible they were only to see me res him 3 times in 2 minutes later in the match. Bottom line is this. Spend less time calling out others and more time focusing on your own game. Teamwork is not calling others out. Teamwork is communicating and stratagizing to win the match. Nuff Said

PVE, WVW, or PVP?

In PVP and PVE I have protect me on. Honestly though if it’s PVP I also have sick’em on right now to counter all that stealth that’s out there. It’s an off button for the thief. You didn’t ask but in PVP I’d take Sick’Em over both choices.

I’ve been having a lot of problems with it in its current state. I wouldn’t mind the nerf…although I agree that 900 is where it should be….or the cool down increase, but I am also seeing a significant lag from when I cast it and I can’t count on it to bring the player to me. often times I can count to 3 before he shows up. Most of the time this means he has been stomped. I can think of one time where I cast it and thought oh I guess I was too far away and moved in closer. All of a sudden the player appeared at my feet. It was easily a 5 second delay as I was able to engage another player and begin skirmishing. Is anyone else seeing this? I’m curios if its my mind playing tricks on me or if it’s happening to others. For now I think I will slot it out as there are other skills I can use that are better.

I’d really like to see a classic weapons collection from GW1 come to the Gem store with some of our favorite skins from the original game. It would be a cool way to pay homage to the first game. I’d personally like to see the following skins included.

Eternal Shield

Title says it all. If you could have one bow in Guild Wars 2 that was in the original Guild Wars what would it be? Mine would be my old Storm Bow. I really miss that effect.

I have a question that ties in with this thread. Last night I mistakenly opened my PVP box with a character I don’t ever intend to do PVP with. all of the items were soul bound to him. Please tell me that the PVP items work the same way and I can get them for any Character on my account. If not it was a total waste. Thanks in advance. PS I’m a PVP noob and probably should know this but I don’t. I plan to start PVP eventually but right now I play PVE only.

The Effigy Lighting Ceremony is a single player instance, according to the blog post. There is no information about it being removed before the end of the event. And yes, there’s a reason it’s in an instance instead of the open world. Complete the instance to get the achievement (yes, there’s an achievement…no, it’s not the lighting 50 effigies one).

Couldn’t have said it better…makes perfect sense to me. Sometimes people mistake silence for not caring when in fact it’s because they don’t want to spoil everything for you. Not saying that everything Anet does is perfect, but c’mon people. Thanks Vahkris!

I’m loving the event and boxes as well…so far this has been my experience. I went out to do an area and explore while thinking maybe I could find a good place to farm the boxes. I eventually did find a nice place to settle in and do some farming. After picking up about 60 boxes I decided to call it a night and open some. Wasn’t expecting much but wound up with the mini and a ticket. Yes I know it’s lucky but I also think it’s about perspective. You have to look at it like hey I’m here to do this for fun and if I get something then it’s gravy. Mind you I really wanted a ticket but my world didn’t depend on it. Same goes for the Moa races…I came out of it with my achievement and about 60 silver. I committed 2 gold to the cause and said hey if I get it great but if not too bad for me. It worked out. People need to take things in stride a little more and be happy they have a great game to play with lots of fresh content. Just my 0.02
