Idk if I am just not seeing it but what exactly is everyone complaining about in regards to the bunker DD ele? I see a lot of “it’s been nerfed” but I dont really see anything resembling a nerf in the patch notes..

I’m already contemplating playing Halo 4 rather than WvW. I also didn’t think WvW would be so computer-intensive since GW2 was supposed to be a casual play lol.

I don’t know if this is the right section to post in but it seemed to be the closest to what I was getting at. I imagine there’s a lot of tech-savvy people in here so I was wondering, how much do you think it would cost to build a computer that isn’t top of the line but can hold its own in WvW zerg fights without lag? If you’d like to go even further, you could post a list of parts you think I should get. I’m just trying to get an idea of what I’d be sticking my head into.
P.S. I didn’t think I’d have to look into getting a new computer since mine is decent and GW2 is suppose to be casual-friendly…not that I’m all that casual but still lol.

Every class is getting changes, with Mesmers having the fewest bullet points, and Engies the most.
For all you know Eles are getting the second most.

In multiple cases, it just seems like people get their patch info ahead of time or they have info that wasn’t listed on the “official” patch notes listed in the announcements section of the forums. So I’m just curious, am I crazy and missing something or are they just making assumptions etc.?

I do believe AC is easier than SE and HotW, and AC is definitely the fastest to find a group for in LA. My runs are usually complete within half an hour per path if I’m in a party of regulars but if it’s your first time running, you may need a few runthroughs before you can do it blindfolded.
Actually I think everyone should start learning dungeons from AC. It’s not the first dungeon you can access for no reason.
But anyway, while I advocate for AC, I don’t find any of the armour skins appealing. If you want to go for ‘looks’ I’d go with HotW.
Thanks for the advice. AC is what I was leaning towards since I did it once on my mesmer but I’m not sure if it counts for anything. I want the armor for WvW and I don’t think skin should be a problem with the transmute stones.

Basically I’m looking to get my first exotic set of armor and all three dungeons offer the particular stat set I am looking for.
So, I am curious which one people would recommend based on groups, difficulty, timeliness, etc.

Well it’s kind of hard to have competition when one server keeps dominating the other two lol, at least imo.
And I wish they showed names as well. Sure, I might have gotten into heated rivalries with other people in other games I have played but it was a lot of fun! That “oh kitten, it’s —-—” tends to give me a boost in energy and looking forward to a good fight. Plus, who knows, it might even lead to making friends on other servers (reason to allow names for the carebears).

@Junkpile, that’s why he said server transfers could be like once a month or something longer than a silly week. And if you did not server hop onto a dead server within the last month etc., you will be able to use your transfer to get off.

What about something like this:
1st place in the previous week – 30% bonus to server wide Karma, Badges (PvE and PvP), and Experience
2nd place in the previous week – 15%
3rd place – 0%
That could be an option to look at but I currently wouldn’t recommend it with the server transfer issue, especially if people could just transfer into that server and get all the boons from it.

As human beings, we strive for progression and currently, there is hardly any type of progression system. Currently, it’s just you fight two other servers and either win or get dominated, the end. Yes, you can play just for fun but for most, it’s hard to have fun when your server is dominating and the other two servers have quit or vice versa. Yes, there are a rare few that do still manage to have fun continuously but most aren’t like that. I’m not quite sure what needs to be implemented as I am no expert but I do know something needs to happen.
It creates elitism though. It’s like a K:D score in FPS games. Basically right now everyone is on even terms except for the non-80’s that show up.
I mean, I probably have a 50:1 K:D ratio in WvW because I know how to survive and runaway if I feel like we’re about to be run over.
Eh that is true but it’s up to the community to perceive if the player’s “elitism” is good or bad. If they think he is a kitten, they will label him as one and somewhat exile him just like they do with kitten commanders lol.

Well keeping upgrades would be completely overpowered but they should go away once a keep is “destroyed” just like the benefit of siege equip would disappear when destroyed.

SamhaynSome people like dungeons (and get unique skins for it) some people like achievements and get titles for it. Some people like wvw and as of right now have very little to show for it on a personal level so why not? If it does not compromise balance or game play it should not be a problem.
I understand and appreciate that, but I guess my point is that there’s already a bunch of WvW achievements in game that give titles.
And since the OP was raving about a ranking system and I personally don’t see much difference with the achievements, they could also add more achievements and / or new tiers instead of developing a ranking system that basically shows the same thing: a player’s time spent in WvW.Don’t get me wrong, I’m not outspokenly negative or positive about something being changed to incentivize, I’m just doubting if a ranking system would offer that incentive.
Personally I just play for the fun of it so I don’t care either way.
As far as I know, those titles can’t be seen by the opposing servers so what’s the point of having them if your enemies can’t know your prestige? Sure, playing to go up a ranking system isn’t the most healthy of things to do, but it gives a lot of players motivation to play. You can only go so far with a gas tank near E (trying new things as new things will run out, as an above poster said).

Developers said they don’t want any carrot on the sticks.
Even without a reward you can already see how fast people jump ship. HoD is a prime example. #1 to #0 in a week.
Sure they have said that but if they have any sense at all, they’ll learn to add something in the end to keep players around because it’s only like two months after release and already more than enough players have quit due to “done everything in WvW already” or “everything is just on repeat” or “what’s the point anymore.” I myself and what’s left of my guild have thought about switching back to Aion just because it gives more of a sense of reward and accomplishment when pvping then in this game. It’s sad though too because I was hyped up about this game due to Wv3, now it’s looking to be a disappointment.

Yeah I plan to build my Ele something like 0/20/10/30/10 with a great amount of regen but since I’m not 80 yet, it’s hard to test out how effective the regen is at condition removal. But I just keep thinking about how fast and easy a pistol/dagger bleed thief can apply bleed with just auto attacks and I’m like…Idk if regen can keep up with that. I guess I’ll just have to hope it does or at least hope it keeps up for a certain amount of time until I can do enough damage to kill them. But then again that’s where their #5 dagger offhand comes into play and they can just keep repeating stealth since auto attacks take no initiative and they can use #5 quite a bit.

Sometimes I agree right there with you in saying there’s too much walking, but then I realize it is WvWvW, not sPvP. You’re not suppose to walk a whole world in 10 minutes. To reduce run time, make better strategies and alliances

I saw you mentioned you played bleed build thief as well (or maybe I read that wrong), but I was wondering since you said you played that and ele, how would you counter a bleed thief build as an ele since the thief just hits 5 to stealth, spam auto attack and stealth skill, and stealth heal, repeat etc (not really difficult). I watched a few bleed thieves and it takes like 5 seconds to get enough stacks on you..and its gg..at least from their videos.

@ Kel, haha sorry. I’m sure it’s a great weapon but I just don’t think the block skill supports my play style. I generally would use a pistol, as Embolism said, for duels. However, with so much running needed in WvW, might as well use focus. It’s not like you use lose any damage from going pistol → focus since the warden does a fair amount as well.

If you remove the numeric portion of the WvW, that still leaves the “looking at map and seeing everything one color” portion. Unless you mean to remove that too…which I would have no idea how since..yeah. I am not trying to throw-down your idea but its just something I thought about when reading your post.
Overall I do agree though on the fact that I believed WvW was going to be my end-game for a long long long long time but with all the problems it poses, I just don’t know anymore. I honesty don’t know how long the game will last at this rate, at least in terms of WvW. There’s just no incentive to even play for a long time. Sure we can play it, but we’ll get bored of it pretty quick.

Is there really a difference between the two in regards to damage and combo? It’s pretty much trading one utility for another and one pretty good damage phantasm for another. I am trying to decide between the two for PvP use, a lot of WvW I think. I’d imagine the focus be better for the run speed and the skill can also yank people off walls if done properly.
Opinions, suggestions? Also, I plan on using this for a shatter burst build unless someone can provide a build that is equally in my liking. Thanks.

Is there really a difference between GS and staff damage when having power? I feel like at least auto attack wise, the staff makes up for it with its chance to proc burn.

@kara, what defense fields do you talk of? Chaos storm? Also, do you mind asking your friend what his build is? I actually tried playing a mesmer at one point and I guess you can say I failed…I tested it out in spvp and my damage seemed mediocre. And yes I did have a researched build and stuff. It probably didn’t help however that I always had like 2 thieves kitten me the whole match…

But wouldn’t thief and ele’s be quick kills since all you have to do is like knock them down and it’s about GG for them with all the damage they would have taken, even from just like three people?

I know there was a similar thread before but it seems to have died down. So now I am curious if people are still having the most issues with the same classes that were listed in that thread, mainly thief and mesmer. Overall however, I want to know what class out of all the classes seems to give you the most problems in WvW and not just between thief and mesmer. If are you running to your group and someone comes up on you, what is the one class you don’t want to see? If you are in group combat against the enemy, which class seems to give you the most problems for surviving? Etc. I am just curious what class people think is currently dominating WvW with its damage and tactics. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d like an explanation as for why so that why I can use that knowledge to better educate myself on those classes and what to look for. For example, why do people seem to have so many problems with mesmers?

I just read another post on end-game WvW progression and I saw a great idea. Someone mentioned that we could have some sort of ranking system with titles given to those top players. I think that would be good as players have something to strive for, there is some recognition for hard work, and players can recognize other players on the battlefield somewhat. Sure it will probably have some faults but I think it should be worked in.

I agree with the poster that I do wish there was some sort of personal rivalry or individual player recognition. Sure some people take personal rivalries too far but that can’t be said for the whole population of players who do enjoy it. If rivalries get out of hand, it isn’t hard to counter them. Block them, report them for harassment, run around with your guild/friends. Recognizing your enemies and being like “oh crap, it is so and so” gives excitement to my fights because I know I will be fighting someone worth fighting. It gives me more of a boost to my fight and I know I will smile if I win or rage and try to do better next time if I lose. It’s all about how you handle it but isn’t that the same with every other thing in life?
