This is a real pity because I was actually going to use it with the shorter cooldown, but going without deployable turrets again after such a long time without it working would annoy me too much.
Ignore everyone saying that necromancers are absolute kitten (unless it is about minion ai, then believe it with a grain of salt), then ignore everyone saying they are magnificent golden gods (99% of the time it will be Bas and Bhawb on this side of things). The necromancer is a resounding meh and seeing how the other classes go up and down, and down, and down with each patch I am fairly happy with that.
YES! They finally nerfed this horribly broken talent that they only just made work! It was obviously too powerful with turrets that do slightly more damage!
HAHAHAHA! Thats a good one. It will happen just after they make Reanimator a useful talent.
People have used minions for long enough to notice that one of the traits doesn’t work?
As long as they don’t nerf lightning discharge….
Notice how it bounces around and hits more than 1 person…..
The minions only attack if you hit 1. Using any other ability doesn’t send them to attack. If you always hit 1 at the start of combat your minions will attack.
Except when they don’t. I nearly always start with a press of 1 and still have all my minions stop to watch the grass grow a good 70% of the time instead.
I would guess it counts as a turret and all the turrets are nearly instant aggro magnets.
Now that your kits are gimp you can come play turrets with me. Yaaaaay!
I long for the day when I will be able to use turrets without them instantly getting aggro and dying in one hit from a basic pve mob while doing a reasonable amount of damage, but sadly that day is not today. They will need to cut kit damage and versatility across the board by at least 46% and making it so you drop them when you get hit by anything to bring them in line with turrets.

I’m going to go for 1 on this quiz. I hold very little hope that minions will be made viable outside of leveling, much like turrets on an engie.
Ok, now do the same thing but run a dungeon or wander around a level 80 pve area.
Many of the people on the forums complain about minion AI… but back in the game they’re playing conditionmancers or freezers or power shrouds.
Of course we are, minions don’t work

This is partially true, it is not secret that I am yearning to fill my skillslots with blood fiends because I make it bloody obvious that I want to do this.
Well you answered my big question about the current patch with the title of your post.

Then tears for my engie being still unable to have turrets useful, then a small smile for the mesmer because no nerfs and phantasms are better. One of these days I will just play warrior like I am supposed to.

In a 70+ Minions are a bit better
Assuming they do anything, then you get to 80 and they become horrible again. This of course is continuing to assuming that you are able to make them do anything, half the time calling them horrible is being too nice.
I havent tried the worm yet but will tonight .
It is the only minion I have never had an issue with the AI on. Other parts of it, teleport, poison, etc, might be wonky but the AI actually works for a change.
I reckon they will fix a few of the bugs in the bug list but definitely not pet AI. They will definitely change something that already works the way it is into something else entirely. They will probably introducing at least 1.3 times as many bugs as they fix some of them previous bugs that have already been fixed.
But then they would have to make minons work and… well…. we have all seen how that is going.
EDIT: Should mention that we already have a minion line with minion focused traits, just in case you missed it.
I was glad to see we got a couple of buffs and fixes, but extremely disappointing that so many other glaring issues remain untouched. Why doesn’t Anet just remove all minion skills and rename us Warlock or Dark Mage or something? Adding to my disappointment is the fact that my ele received some really stupid nerfs for no reason.
Meanwhile the game keeps getting frequent new quests and content no problem. Anet needs to fire the entire balance/bugfix team and hire people that are actually capable of doing their jobs like the creative content team.
Or hire more then two of them.
Didn’t you hear? They don’t have a bugfix team. It is just an intern. He’s actually doing all the programming in notepad. He’s pretty good.

I very recently decided to try out a toolkit build after getting sick of grenade spam on my leveling engie. This patch has been good to me… kind of…. sorta… a little… more than my minion master necro at least.
I believe it is the rifle turret underwater.
Lol after all that response from Jon Peters about reanimator, did we see a change? Nope.
This is really all I wanted. Reanimator made not absolute kitten and Minion AI fixed so they work “the way they are supposed to” according to replies in that same thread from reds.
I can’t complain about the other bug fixes, they are all good, but the only 2 things I was waiting for fixes on are still borked.
EDIT: and the warrior thread dealing with the same idea as this one gets a red post within the first 15 posts. Why am I not surprised?

I have a similar issue. I waved it off as unimportant because I only get it every hour or so or even longer but if it helps get attention to your problem I’ll post. Playing GW2, internet locks up with no data transfer in either direction, restart net, all good again. The only odd thing about it to me is that it only happens in GW2.
I'd rather have reanimator disabled until a fix is ready.

Thats all I want out of them but it is a rare occasion when any of them do that.

All I ask for is that my minions attack what I am and don’t attack if I am not. More control would be good but this would be good enough.
If only there was some sort of ability that granted 20% LF on demand. That would be a pretty sweet deal.

You are a horrible kitten and in no way a gentleman or a scholar and even if you are female this still stands. I saw this thread before I saw the patch notes so my disapointment was mighty but unfortunatly expected. I expected us to get nothing though so HOORAY I suppose.
EDIT: If the singular fix was minions working I would actually be happy with it being a singular fix.

Sounds like a similar build to the one I was using that is now very VERY ho-hum after this change. Obviously I was using DS wrong and need to become one of the might power necros!
