The only reason i use leg specialist now is because they messed up my old build. If they move Empower Allies back to tear 1 i would happily stop using it. The thing is tear 1 has no other useful traits i like.

Are you sure that’s a wise thing to do? You made that mistake with the lost shores patch and it was like a punch in the face to many people. No wonder they are angry. You should give people plenty of time to digest new material before its released. A more open approach would go along way.[/quote]

I know nothing about the Bioware situation other than the people I know of who didn’t like the game still didn’t like the game just because the ending was changed. See: Shamus Young.

I’m not going to speak to what I think of it because, frankly, I’m too far in ignorance of that situation to make an opinion.

Its well documented if one is willing to look. Personally i liked it even before the new ending, but that’s another matter. But what it shows is that if enough people show displeasure over a games direction it can be changed if the developers are willing to listen. For the fans our voice is all we have, its our only weapon. No matter how many times they silence us we should never give in, because only then does it really set a bad precedent later on.

And if they do a rollback, it tells the people here that if they complain long and loud enough about something they can force the devs to cave in. Whether or not it is the right thing to do in this particular case . . . it sets a bad precedent later on.

Bioware added a new ending to Mass effect 3 after enough people complained. The voices of the community were so damaging that they had to take notice. Bioware gained my respect after that. It showed they are as human as the rest of us and can make mistakes and really do care about their fans. I believe Anet has made a mistake with this patch and the community should show there dissatisfaction. I believe Anet can make amends if they really wanted to.

I can understand why so many people are upset and venting their anger on the forums. In one weekend GW2 has changed, and not for the better. Its quite sad actually. It was a really good game for a time, not perfect, but it was one of the best MMOs out there, it was different, bold, and appealing. Now it feels like every other generic MMO. I really think they should have ran this patch through beta with us first before deciding to implement it. Its an awful patch that has completely changed the direction and feel of the game.

Ascended gear needs to go or the stats changed to exotic, or if they decide to keep it then for the love of good make it so its as easily available to get as exotic by crafting, karma vendors, etc, and reduce the gear grind needed to obtain them. Maybe its not to late to change it back if they act now, and in doing so they may at least reclaim some credibility back on their original promises.

Wow it keeps getting better… I just found out that because I couldn’t log in 7 hours ago for the final event, I missed out on a free, one-time uber accessory which will cost 1000 shells or about 20 gold (based on current trading post prices) otherwise.

I can see how that’s not very fair. What happened to this game being casual player friendly. Are we not allowed to have a social life any more. The weekend is my busiest time socially. I usually only play weekday evenings.

Its like the stuff from the Halloween event hasn’t been cleaned up properly. Occasionally i still see those candy ore mines pop into view and disappear when i get near it, so they are obviously still there but hidden.

With less people playing these days solo play is becoming the norm so i suggest a few changes to make solo play more enjoyable and less frustrating.

*Improve the healing skills, healing power, or add healing potions.
*When down-levelled increase the level change to 4 levels higher than the area mobs or maintain toughness and armour stats from the original character level.

Aggro/Threat and the lack of dedicated "Tanks"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

In my experience aggro can be caused by a few things, toughness, armour, healing power, and damage. There may even be a bug that causes some to gain more than they should, but it’s hard to prove unless your in a group with the one that has the bug on them, then you witness some very strange aggro behaviour take place. The only effective way to lose aggro is to log out and back in again.

Although i understand that some other people do place an importance on these things but im not sure i would want titles appearing above other characters heads everywhere i go without any option to disable the feature like you can with names.

Interesting thread. I haven’t done any testing myself but I do notice that when im in Orr with 1,800 toughness, contributing to 3,000 armour, it still only takes a few short hits before im downed, similier to what it was with standard armour and a much lower toughness. There are other factors i suppose. Condition effects and critical hits, but i should at least seen some visual improvement, but perhaps its so small its unnoticeable.

Remove speed reduction in combat – Slowing down characters when they get aggro. There’s really no need for this unless the object of this game mechanic is to annoy people.

Also conditions that slow you down negate swiftness boons. Even if you have a swiftness boon active it has no effect to counter the condition effect. Technically you should be reduced to normal speed not reduced entirely to a snails pace.

Space out cluttered enemies – Some areas have far to many enemies cluttered together, making some areas almost impassable. You could run past them but you will most likely encounter the annoying things that i described above.

Travel the world – The game needs more high level areas to explore. One level 80 map is not enough. Compare that to the five starting areas.

At level 80 a player shouldn’t feel they have to remain in one or two high level areas all the time. Perhaps make it so that some items only drop for level 80 characters from enemies in a specific area. So players may have to travel to six different maps to find that special armour set they want. And in doing so it might help fill up those middle maps that seem so empty.

More armor and weapons – There needs to be more stuff to entice players to go out and find them. At least 100 more armor sets and weapons. Get players out and about searching the world!

Combining heavy, medium, and light armors – For example, transmuting a light armor skin onto a medium armor. You can create some cool outfits if this where possible and will allow players to create some very unique looks.

Reduce cost of waypoint travel at high level -Its honestly a ridiculous increase in price and greatly discourages travelling.

Make traits more useful – Far to many to name all the worthless ones. Having played a few classes, on all of them at least 90% of the traits are not worth using. The effects they give so minimal that they are not even noticeable, and there for not worth using. As it is most trait builds feel identical and boring.

XP as money – As with skill points it would be nice to use XP as a form of money. At any level you could spend XP like karma. And by doing so it would be possible to down level a character. The excess skill points and XP you earn at level 80 could be put to good use buying food and crafting tools, and possibly even used as a alternative to paying for waypoint travel.

Invulnerability – This feature doesn’t work as it should. Its highly buggy and is best removed altogether until it is fixed. Many times i have attacked an enemy only for it to be immune to all attacks, yet it can often carry on damaging me with impunity. They can even heal back to full health while invulnerable, yet i still remain in combat mode – my health not regenerating and my speed forced into a snails pace.

Preview items in trading post- Some items share the same icon even when they are different, and some items just have the wrong icon. Of course you could just fix the icon problem but a preview would be nicer.

Remove soul bound – Its annoying to repeat things just to get more of the same just to use on a different character. Account bound seems fair and is more than enough. Soul bound is over doing it.

More crafting – I need more items to craft! Many people love to craft. Crafting is enjoyable.

Fishing mini game – There is lots of water. Lots of fish. A fishing game could be fun.

Option to remove the red flashing around the screen when you take damage – Its annoying… I know im taking damage, i can see my health orb going down!

Reduce condition attacks – Enemies use far to many. I can remove one and get effected by two more and they cant be defended against like regular attacks as armor and toughness doesn’t seem to reduce the damage from them. If you get surrounded by enemies, all using nasty conditions on you, then its often game over. No fun at all.

Just out of curiosity what does being in a group do? Do you get more drops or prolong DR from setting in or something?

I think if your in a party you have a better chance of obtaining loot from corpses if all the party attack the same target, like a champion for example. Damage maybe calculated differently for parties – the more damage you do often meaning a better chance at obtaining loot. But its seems rather unfair to everyone else that contributed to killing it if they end up with nothing. It might be a design flaw or a bug. If i know a party is fighting the same target as me i might disengage from combat if its going to be a long fight and leave them to it as i usually end up with nothing for my trouble.

I just moved to Aurora Glade which has a higher population than Piken Square and feels much more active as i prefer it like that. Are there any roleplayers/ RP guilds on Aurora Glade?

I really enjoyed the symbol build. I liked being able to heal with the symbols with the healing trait. It was one of the few things helping me stay alive in PVE. I dont like running around like a mad monkey all the time, it doesn’t work well for melee classes.

PVP and PVE are two very different things! Trying to make them both work together clearly doesn’t work and it is greatly harming PVE to the point that i really dont want to login to play any more.

And why in gods name they thought it was a good idea to put Leap of Faith as number 3 before Symbol of Wrath i dont know. Really it should be last. I only use Leap of Faith when i want to close a gap quickly from a distance.

If they thought retaliation was harming PVP they should remove it altogether. It only lasted 1 second on Symbol of Wrath anyway. It was so small i never noticed it.

Mob Difficulty (Please Raise it)

in Suggestions

Posted by: Rich.9503

Rich.9503

The trouble with mob difficulty is the balancing which isn’t always balanced fairly vs player level. Some mobs are easy while others are harder. I’ve encountered weak veterans and hard trash mobs within the same level areas. If you can avoid hard encounters then fair enough. But you cant always do that. Some are aggressive and will always attack on sight. And sometimes you have large groups, which is often the main problem of difficulty people seem to face, that need to be passed to progress in the game. That also cant be avoided.

And some of the conditions these mobs can hit you with can also seem a bit excessive. Almost all mobs can use condition attacks. A large group of them, again which cant always be avoided, will often leave a player fighting to the death or running for their life. The amount of player corpses i’ve seen downed throughout the world also tells me that a very large proportion of other players aren’t finding it as easy as you have suggested.

Now maybe i’m wrong and some people just like dying a lot or maybe they prefer running around mobs in endless circles, but a lot of people i see prefer to just stand there and tough it out. Probably not the best strategy, but each to their own. It takes a lot of time and patience to play the way guild wars 2 requires you to play, and in a growing casual player world not everyone has that patience.

I would suggest a difficulty mode, easy, normal, hard, etc. Let someone choose a mode to their liking. Some may argue that the harder you play the better rewards you should get back. I disagree with that entirely for many reasons but that’s not for me to decide. At the end of the day, a difficulty mode would go along way in appeasing many people. But i’m sure, as in every argument, not everyone would agree that either.

I would like the game to be more solo friendly, especially for melee classes. When i want to do an event or pass through a group of mobs there is never anyone around to help. Some of the areas are starting to feel very lifeless of other players, bots not included. I need more survivability if im going to carry on playing alone. As it is im starting to rely more on the bots than real players, and when happens you know something is wrong.

I’ve been playing a lot in the two areas just south of Lions Arch, which are surprisingly buggy compared to all the others areas i’ve been in. However sometimes when i change areas all objects become unclickable and the only way to fix it is to logout and restart the game.

I started noticing this only recently maybe after the last patch was installed. Its never happened before and does not happen with any other game or program i use.

I use a logitech g500. All drivers and software is up to date.

I think this may be a bug but i don’t see anyone else mentioning it so it might just be a tech issue. I’ll see if anyone else has the same problem. If not then it must be a problem with my mouse.

Here’s a few suggestions of the top of my head that may or may not help.

1. Put a fixed price, or a less harsh max/min value, on all items that can be sold at the trading post.

2. Limit the number of items one can sell at the trading post within a 24 period.

3. Limit the number of mails one can send within a 24 hour period.

4. Limit how much money one can send by mail within a 24 hour period.

5. Make exotic and legendary items account bound.

6. Reduce costs of all waypoints, repairs, and merchant items to compensate.

Keep up the good work Arenanet.

This is getting ridiculous. The world has become plagued with bots. Literally everywhere i go now. Sometimes i see a controlled player keeping an eye on them, while following along teleporting near them every so often. I assume that’s the one that takes the items the bots harvest. I then assume after they get their booty they sell it all on the trading post at a massively reduced price. Then a clean account buys it seconds later and resells it at normal going prices. Perhaps if Arenanet put a fixed price on everything, which cant be changed, then the gold sellers will struggle to make enough money.

That sounds like the same old boring MMO attitude to me. I was of the mind that Guild Wars 2 was for everyone regardless of ability. For anyone to jump in, play and have fun with. Why cant a causal group of new players jump into a dungeon and have fun with it and still come out with something to show for their time and effort?
