I’ve played around with Plague Signet a bit in zergs and it seems pretty worthless overall. It pulses a bit slowly and doesn’t seem to really draw enough conditions to be beneficial to the team. If anything, it seems to do more harm than good, as you need to wait a while to get enough conditions drawn before you can unload them.

I’d like to offer a suggestion to make this more useful. I’d suggest changing Plague Signet’s passive effect to something like: increase boon duration by 20%, or increases critical strike chance by 3% or the like. For the active, I’d make it draw “x” conditions per player around you, up to a total of “y” (e.g. 3 per player, up to 20 conditions). Activating the signet again within “Z” (5?) seconds transfers the conditions.

I used it in beta and a bit after release until I noticed it was copy and pasting conditions instead of removing them from allies. I traded for wells after that.

Does it still do that?

i always wondered about that. when i use focus #5 i always found i could count on might getting stripped. which for my build was important.

Yea I used to be on Dragonbrand – My reasons for leaving our my own, and have nothing to do with any sort of ‘Drama’ or being dissed by anyone.

I stand by what I say – old school DB is a great and friendly community, and if you don’t come in with the assumption that your transfer in is going to make you the ‘big man on campus’ then you’ll fit in fine. If you do? Well – you’ll be eaten alive.

My comment was not ment to flame or to insult. Just bringing light to a persons opinion who i felt needed to be heard.

The new guilds on DB are trash, ignore what they say. They moved to DB with the mindset of taking the server over and carrying them to t1. They hit a wall(TC) with that goal and now it seems they are having problems with the “regs” of DB. I was on DB for a little bit and the community there is very friendly. I still keep in touch with many DBers. Dont let the new faces of DB give you bad judgement about their community that so many longtime guilds on DB helped build.

As much as I appreciate being called trash, I am going to have to disagree with all the sudden splurge of negativity. I have no idea what Dekar is talking about, the old guard guilds have been nothing but friendly to us, and everybody has enjoyed running with CO. This “problem” seems to be nothing but a couple people really not wanting the original RE to come to DB because they worry it will hurt the community, and a few people really wanting them to come because they are old friends. Not exactly drama city.

Either way this was a surprise, was just talking with my best buddy in rB about how great the server has been treating us. Lots of great comms, lots of great players, and lots of friendly people. We have good times.

For the original RE, good luck finding a new home.

Going to air some dirty laundry here about DB so you can make a proper decision and don’t care if people hate my honesty for it.

I don’t think you should come to DB, based on the patterns I see it’s on the same path as Kaineng.

-Guilds that “strategically” stop playing because when we aren’t winning
-Server PPT dependent on overnight crews that sometimes show sometimes don’t
-Server meetings that end up more venting about BS than discussing the “who, how and when” for achieve goals
-Terrible “natives > transfers” holier than thou attitude.
-Several guild leaders are going to either quit or take long term breaks in the near future
-Website leads don’t reach out to guilds but rather demand guilds to reach in (which shows they are “real serious” about cooperating with everybody)
…etc, sounds familiar?

Difference is Kaineng had fewer guilds and tried harder before it imploded. Don’t trust me about the eventual drama, here’s a recent drama:

May 31st – Reset Night on EB. 5 guilds are heading there; my guild had majority players so we ended up leading main zerg. 1.5 hours before reset I tried to talk to the other 4 guilds who are always in EB (despite other guilds asking them to rotate EB once in a while which they refuse and despite they having a history of not cooperating with other transfer guilds but I tried anyway) and not one of them got into TS to discuss strategy, one officer of one guild says they are going to play defense and scout as they “always do” but he’s not sure via tells. I told him it’s stupid not to know what the main zerg is doing, try to get somebody on TS or send me a tell to spend 2 minutes so they know what I am doing at least and we can be partially in sync.

At 8:59pm EST one of the reps finally gets on TS to inform me I don’t know him and it’s his purse before dropping his cyber resume which amounted to “I log online like everybody else but I say I’m better than you.” I tell him I don’t care and don’t give a rats about your history or anybody who can’t spend 2 minutes to know what each others strat is so just do your thing. After he trolls me some more and makes fun of Red Essence for some reason about how I will fail he drops a “welcome to DB” before rage quitting. They also shortly after map reset send a spy to join my guild.

Game time, we win all our fights cept one three-way we had to run away from in ogres, we have our third of the map plus SMC, plus two towers and supply in the enemy zone. SMC and our third is being upgraded safetly, we have walls already on SMC and working on gates it hasn’t been 2 hours yet. I keep getting trolled in map and tells because I am not responding to their “scouts” who don’t give numbers as fast as they like but I did move my zerg quickly to defend klovan, overlook, WC…etc and we saved them all. They are defending scouting like they wanted, I am leading main zerg and trying to adapt to their strat despite not having a full force in my hands to fight off the enemy full forces at times but all seems good our PPT is great and third safe.

All we had to do is maintain, main zerg was hovering around SMC and ready to warp to spawn based on scouts at this point and anytime we had a chance press SBI on their towers we took and re-took…etc. Well their scouts decided to not report any SMC moves to let Mag ninja it on us so they can troll me, they blamed the strategy, they blamed me…etc when it really it was a scouting performance issue. It’s about 2 hours 10 minutes into the night, I had my fill at this point from the “regulars” as they call themselves, I delayed our zerg to let Mag build up millions of ACs in SMC, I break the double team strat and kitten off both sides before we bail map.

Knowing the spy is in my guild still we get a bunch of us to kitten , moan and cry in guild chat about the night. We talk about creating our own alliance within the server without the DB “regulars” just to get them to poop a bit…etc knowing they are reporting it all back thinking they are so sneaky. Next day the spy quits the guild, all of Saturday the “regulars” furrow their brows about this alliance talk and this morning they come up with this:

If you transferred you will be welcomed for about 2 weeks but you’ll only be respected by other transfer guilds. Be careful where you end up, in my opinion stable communities are worth Tier fluctuation if they even fluctuate. Be happy with your homework before you move is all I can really say.

Yeah i have to agree. Que up solo is just asking to geta team that will implode on itself in a couple minutes.
also maybe there needs to be more direction for new players to try out the hot join to learn the map and game mechanic’s. right now i’m seeing rank 40 players get grouped up with rank 1 players.

alot of people care about where they place in the ladder board and once we get a high enough rank we can’t play anymore for fear of who we will get grouped with. so we wait until enough people we know and can relay on to play with.

Interesting how it’s turned out. My predictions for DB 2.0 last week was T2 #3 and it seemed their own wasn’t even that but I see they’re actually gunning in #1.

Kaineng is clearly not coming back to T2 and from the T3 thread I’m seeing more and more KN guilds transferring, to DB I believe. I don’t see the appeal of transferring to the #1 server in a tier but to each their own.

I hope T2 stays stable since KN’s night coverage is a lot less ridiculous than DB’s in terms of numbers. T3 is a lot more fun.

This isn’t Dragonbrand 2.0. our server has gone threw so many changes it’s not funny.

also i dislike being lumped in with all the other servers with the 2.0 tags that never went anywhere.

I think ANet is trying to stay away from allowing Necros to generate much LF outside of combat. I’m not sure if it’d really be too strong, but I think it would border on it.

A necro that could go into every combat with full life force has a huge advantage. I doubt they will ever do something like this.

Ok for the record while Moa might seem weak to most the classes. I play a bunker necro with minions. Now it’s one thing to get Moa’d but to find all my Minions actually dead and on cooldown which doesn’t start until after i get out of Moa… thats just plain BS.

Of course that is just one build. so i get the odds of that getting change in any way very unlikely.

Honestly you really need to look at what role you want to play within the group/zerg.

If you stay back and range then yeah DPS gear is totally a great idea. But if your a stack buster/front line runner your just gonna need to gear for taking the beats. Roamers and small groups will also gear accordingly as well.

If your going out with your guild and your able to figure out what the group needs then go with that but if your joining up with a mindless zerg of randoms i will always prefer to be more tanky.

Well, it’s certainly interesting to be bumped and to play one of the classic maguuma matchups : Versus DB & Yaks.

On Yaks : I find it super fun to see the improvements in general build strength and playmanship that you guys have done since the last time Maguuma had an opportunity to go yakslappin’ ;p . Of all the servers, you guys are probably the closest in numbers and individual fighting power and I love fighting you guys.

On Dragonbrand : Basically Dragonbrand have two things going on for them : Numbers and the infamous nightcap team. Build str & playmanship wise, DB are weaker than Mag or Yaks….. but the incredible amount of guys you can push into a fight means that no matter how strong you are, you just eventually get grinded down : at those odds it just gets ridiculous. ( How often a fight is gonna start 3mag vs 4db, and eventually turn into a 3vs8 ? Often.) And that nightcapteam is STILL as ridiculous as ever ( i mean, it is the same guys who nightcapped the whole wvw pie for xmas here).

I predict Dragonbrand will win by PvDooring and superzerging to victory, while we’ll be getting the real ACTUAL fighting done this week with the yak’s guys, cuz they actually live in our timezone and aren’t as kitten to fight.

Dragonbrand will win because during our prime time we can actually cap most everything maguma controls getting them down to 30-50 PPT on all the maps while during your guys prime time your only able to get DB down to 100-150 PPT and that will likely be alot less after the weekend warriors take a rest.

In the first 5 days we were in T3 I wracked up an amazing 8300 kills. Both YB and DB threw everything they had at us. It was fun, it was exciting, and it was definitely challenging.

In the last 7 days we wracked up about 430 kills. Rather than face the first challenge your tier gets in who knows how long, you chose to avoid us, and hit our homeland whenever we left it. Any time we took the field you scattered like roaches with the kitchen light turned on, and hit us where we weren’t. The ONLY decent challenge we had last match week was when BP was hammering us with everything they had while YB hit our hills the instant crossed swords showed. It was about 3 hours of run, wiping golems, defending massively one sided fights, and seeing great combat movements. The instant they took bay they moved, and joined in with the “dodge TSYM like we owe them money” initiative.

You had a solid chance to improve your team by facing mine. So yes, you can go back to your talentless ZvZ brawls, and BP I’m sure can go back to farming uncoordinated masses like its zombie land. Well go in search of a higher caliber of competition, one that might actually stay and fight!

Have to say I’m very disappointed in tsym. Coron made a post two weeks ago saying how anyone saying T3 wasn’t competitive was talking out their butt and now he says we are no competition even tho their server is obviously falling. From Coron’s post back then I thought they must have a good attitude about WvW and I wrote a reply in that thread saying as such but I guess now we see tsym is actually a bunch of pansies who can’t handle losing.

Just some friendly advice: We all win some and lose some. Ignore the tier number and the score and just go out and have fun. I bet if you stick around on SoS for next week in T4 you’ll find you aren’t nearly so outnumbered and your guild would feel more accomplished and have more fun with better odds.

Goodness knows YB has been crushed by other servers and we’ve had our wvw population and coordination go up and down but the main people are still on Yaks and still fighting. The guilds and people that left us when we were down only benefited us in the long run. But then again, maybe SoS is better off without tsym, ;D

We’ll be fine. There’s probably a few more quitters left to leave, but such is life. The rest of us are doing what we can for now (looks at score and cringes…) and just waiting until we fall to an appropriate tier that matches our remaining population.

You still have a strong off hour WvW presence you won’t fall to far. Bring a good fight and guilds will find you. Trust me i know this to be true.

When your guild left Dragonbrand we were getting out played by the other much larger servers. You guys were on the receiving end of alot of beats. just because you moved to a server that has higher caliber players doesn’t make you a higher caliber player.

from what i’m reading it looks to me like our guilds have evolved and changed tactics to minimize loses and increase PPT.

So who has the higher caliber players?

i think Dragonbrand finally getting more organized i.e. getting there own forum set up… this might actually be drawing in more people into our WvW because we are really starting to controlling more of the PPT then ever before. Specially during times in which we would normally be getting a lot less.

Our best time used to be from 6am till 10am PST tops now were really stretching that out a alot more.

Maybe it’s as simple as not all of the guilds that were slated for transfering off had done so. Of course you would think BG would have gotten a big surge in score but that doesn’t seem to have happened either.

Time will tell.

From all the scores available so far on millenium, green server is not winning in any tiers, but will likely be winning in just about all of them by the end of the week.

It’s may be an indication of how important around-the-clock coverage is compared to strength in any one timezone. The green servers probably have the comparatively more even distribution of WvW players in each tier.

Not only that is really goes to show which servers have alot of Weekend players and which servers have alot of WvW week day players.

Alot of our WvW guilds made huge Sacrifices last week and it brought out alot of the casual players. the ones you don’t see as much during the week.

I play a Necro and i can assure you there is not a single ledge or wall that LOS hinders my marks in anyway. Bottom line if you have 30 guys with range on the ground and your on the wall sticking your head is going to get it shot off….

Now should there be man-holes or defensible positions on the wall? yeah that would make sense. But there isn’t, there are tiny lips. so lets all be realistic and accept the fact that by stepping up to the edge you are doing so at your own risk.

DB is focusing SOS more for one reason only… revenge. Doesn’t matter if the original guilds from back then are different. Those who were left behind and people who came after hearing about what happened hold a grudge. All around fun fights this week though I hope next week continues to be the same. This week is alot more balanced then the past week. It’s hard being the middle guy stuck in a tier for weeks on end but if this is the match up we will get more consistantly I for one will be happy.

The best part is we get to a bit of Revenge fighting SoS… Plus we get to watching all the Bandwagoners who jumped to BG still get stomped by JQ. Justice has been served in so many ways.

Actually about 1000 players left Dragonbrand to go to Sea of Sorrows. So i find it very unlikely we would have made that call. they said we didn’t have enough coverage then as well.

we did warn SoS truebloods to be ready for the day when they would once again leave.

i feel sorry for the SoS truebloods and the BG truebloods. Hope you’ll be able to get rid of the unwanted quickly BG.

I love seeing all those guilds still not getting first. i just feel sorry for the actual loyal BG players. i think all of us from DB have waited along time to see them show there true colours.

A large number of the “hardcore pvp guilds” couldn’t take losing 2 or 3 weeks so they transferred to Blackgate.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head, which sucks. Bandwagoners are rather lame.

(Mostly to KA) Out of curiosity, how does FA compare to TC?

Its hard to compare FA to TC, it seems like TC’s American prime is stronger but FA has better coverage than TC does.

SoS however seems to be the weak link and I think its safe to say that SoS will be dropping to T3 when you guys move back up. Unfortunately that means a week or two wait as we absorb SoS’s score.

That’s my early call which is a bit premature till we see how the servers stack up in the M-F before reset where the meat of the points are earned.

hopefully your refering to maguma because dragonbrand has made it to tier 2 and didn’t like it very much.

We actually had a guildy who we sPvP with and funny story is he happens to be on a server we play against. Turns out he was in WvW as we were doing a guild run and he totally stomped him after we saw the tag he asked in guild chat if that was him.

It was kinda funny. sometimes having cross server guildies means nothing.

I do hope they change the message suppression a bit. i’m actually been suppressed once from double clicking on a POI. how frusterating is that??

Now the other thing i did notice is during those times i was suppressed i was able to still chat in my Guild and /say chat.

Also since we’ve never had issues with Bot’s and gold sellers in WvW why not ease it up a bit.

Not sure if this would be true. There just would have been more even pvdooring. Mag/DB would divy up the daytime points, NA prime would be competitive, overnight FA would pvdoor. That does not sound more fun, just more even points wise. FA could really make a push in T2 if we could get some of that sweet, sweet daytime coverage you’all got on your server. How did you get so many transient laborers onto your servers?

It’s called attrition. and it’s in every war since the start of time. If you want to keep on fighting and winning you got to be able to get more people to keep coming out.

I think magooomba are in the exact same position as FA. We’re going to bounce between t2/3 and mags between t3/4

And DB going to be stuck in the middle for a long time. We have enough asians to stomp tier 4 servers, not enough people in general to compete with tier 2.

Honestly i think DB is the only true tier 3 server. We’ll pretty much be stuck here until the end of time unless something major happens.

We’re pretty much on par with Mag’s effectiveness as long as they’re making a concentrated effort to win (And not have some significant portion of their server trying to get them back to tier 4). Though, I’m excited to see us vs. Yak’s again.

Mag’s definitely better than tier 4. The problem is that us and Mag’s are the only servers that seem to belong in tier 3 right now. And one of the two of us doesn’t seem to really want to be here. FA or TC needs to drop a few guilds and then we’ll be a really competitive tier

Honestly it’s hard to say where Maguma belongs their climb up the ranks was in the tail end of a bunch of broken servers who really just didn’t have as much fight in it as they should have.

Next week we will have Yak’s bend who will bring a good NA fight but even right now CD is crushing them during the off hours time frame. So i think we’ll end up with a very similar score as this week.
