Alright so i’m trying to get a handle on how the scoring affect’s our Evolution in the ranking system.
the reason i’m asking is i’m looking at the tier 4 NA match up and all i see is the winning server dropping in rank while the 2 losing servers are going up.
Sadly playing the same servers every week is extremely boring. Will be glad to see Borlis Pass join our tier next week when NSP drops down a spot. Nothing against you NSP guys but time for some new blood in this tier. Too bad our server doesnt have an even average euro presence or this would never be a contest against the current matchups.

P.S. Looking at previous matchups not only has Darkhaven spent more time in higher
tiers than Dragonbrand despite DB at one point in time being in tier 3 but out of the 3 previous times we’ve been matched up against them we’ve beaten them twice so far.
P.P.S. I’m not trying to start a pissing contest but lets be a little realistic here. You guys are getting carried by a night time population that takes over the maps that can close a 10000 point gap in as little as 2 hours. Don’t say it didn’t happen because it did this morning in the hours between 6am and 8am. Before this magic hour hit for DB even NSP was out scoring you. Yes. The server you just dismissed as even being slightly competitive against yours.

For starters DB was a Tier 2 server. And when i say a Tier 2 server not a was up for a single round then got knocked back down. we were up there for a bit before bouncing back down and back up again.
During that time Darkhaven never once ever even showed up on our radar.
Now to defend the comment by my server mate as to why he may have said what he did… Without any nighttime presence no server will ever have any chance of ever making any major movement in the tiers.
this aspect is the very thing that people look for when choosing servers.
Hopefully we can move past all this negativity that seems to be popping up and just get on with the match. NSP seems to be able to hold their head up high. hopefully Darkhaven can learn from this.

When the 1 week matches started DB dropped in the ranks really quickly.
Also, then you need to tell your fellows on DB to cut the negativity then. They are the ones who are claiming they are so much better than us and dismissing their competition as non-factors when they don’t have any right to do that.
So I just thought I’d point out the facts over the last 10 weeks of competition since the 1 week matches started to settle the argument. My intention was not to say we are better than you guys but to say that perhaps some peoples egos on DB are more inflated than they have a right to be.
And those are hard indisputable facts. You can look them up if you want.
It’s worth noting that since our most recent matchups with Maguuma we’ve lost several somewhat large guilds to other servers.
During our Match up with Blackgate we lost 2 major Oceaonic Guilds to Blackgate during the actual weekly match up. which in turn lead to us getting bumped down to teir 3.
the following Week we lost 7 of our main WvW guilds to Sea of sorrows which as it turned out we got put up against.
My guild originated on NSP when it was one of the top 3 servers they lost everyone to ET.
we can all pull out our hard luck stories.
the NA guilds do what they can under hard circumstances to stall the other servers until the bulk of our people get on. They should be very proud of what they do under the circumstances.

So this guy is on here saying our server is nothing compared to DB, but all they do is PvD when no one is on to oppose them in any numbers worth a kitten Sounds like a stand up fellow right there. I’ll be glad to be back to facing servers that are not based around late night capping. Have fun getting squashed in the upper tier. From what I’ve seen of your server’s actual strategy when fighting something other than mostly empty fortifications…you won’t stand a chance lol
Dude if what you say is correct then all the Asian/Oceanic people on DB can make the same claims about all the NA people. because all your doing is night Capping them.
All that matters to me atm is when i had to hit the sack at 7pm pst we had retaken alot of our BL’s back and had a resonable amount of EB in our hands.
Us NA people have an uphill battle and over the course of the last few days we have made a lot of gains during a time period where we were lucky to control anything.
We will keep fighting. that’s all you need to know.
This has always been our weakest hour. and yet we survived to regroup and regain a point total over everyone. as of right now we are fighting back on 2 BL’s and EB. this hasn’t happened for over 5 weeks. not since the huge exodus to SoS.
we will see how the night play’s our. last week DH came out strong tonight and was able to contain our night crew which is what lead to them winning.
If it wasn’t for NSP and DH trying to swap keeps we couldn’t have regained our ground in EB
Currently we have a very dedicated but small NA presense. But we have a very large Asian/oceanic presense.
As of yesterday though we just got 2 mid size guild’s giving us an extra 40ish people to support our NA presense.
so If your looking for a server that is able to put up a great Fight during NA primetime and also get the backing of a good night crew with out the ques this is the server you’ll want to try out.
Also we have been fighting both Darkhaven and Northern ShiverPeaks for the past 2 weeks. So check out the threads and i think you’ll find all were missing to make some major gains is a bit more NA love.
Just now wvw reset, everyone was teleport to LA(overflow), from DB there is like only 30-40 ppl. So it’s these 30-40 ppl who fight for DB over 4 maps during NA prime time and make our score not ugly. If your guild is moving to DB, it means you guys will double the population of DB’s NA prime time coverage. (DB used to have a strong NA prime time population months ago which can compete with current T1 servers, but not anymore) In fact what DB need now is just some NA time guilds.
Oh and Queue time information during 8pm-12am EST for each server! Please don’t understate your queue times.
Already in the process of transferring our guild over. Having some issues finding a time DB isn’t “Full” but we’ve managed to maybe get a total of 20 over within a day during odd times. We’ll probably be doing really small groups and having fun, then expecting the majority of our 2 guilds to be over here by Reset on Friday giving us 40ish a night to work with.

Which server has better activity during 7pm to 2am Pacific Standard time DH or DB? Group of about 10 friends picked the game up and looking for a home, most of us are Pacific/Mountain time. A few have to transfer so want to make the right choice, thanks in advance. Maybe someone has a screenshot of 10pm & 1am PST Score?
DH and NSP have the larger force up until around 11pm at that point DB has a shift change then starts making waves until as late as 12pm the next day then we start losing ground to NSP first then DH comes on in force.
there are all based on PST since i’m a westcoaster.
Any idea when Dragonbrand population dips down and isn’t “Full”? sending a few scouts there this week
Any information about Darkhaven or NSP is appreciated too, not fully set on any server.
Hopefully someone from a more active NSP guild will give some better answers than I can, but here’s what I can say:
From what I’ve seen over the last week, it seems that US prime time is mostly NSP versus Darkhaven in EB. I haven’t spent much time in Borderlands, but I know we (NSP) could certainly use more people there as we’re typically limited to just EB and our Borderlands with maybe a small force in one other BL, even at prime. We finished third last week (same matchup) by a somewhat significant margin, but until a disastrous Wednesday or Thursday we were keeping pace (6k-14k point gap) all week.
My impression from EB play is that if Dragonbrand gained a significant force during US prime, they would be a major threat to move up to T4. I have no idea how well they’d do there, but I think a sizable shift in players to their server would push them up a tier. A big enough shift to any of the servers would have a chance to move anyone up that level, but I think DB is the biggest threat to move because of their population timing.
I would have to agree with this post. we used to be a T2 server but lost a massive oceanic guild to blackgate and then 7 huge NA guilds to SOS the next week. been a hard fall but we have started to find our pace now.
if we got a couple NA guilds we could make some major moves. of course i kinda like the carefree pace of the lower tiers.
also i would have to hold fast against the horde of NA servers that just thrash us during that time hehe.
Actually if you look at the ET/HOD/SF match up there is a small chance that SF could move up. SF of course having to play against 2 empty WvW servers is making some huge gains this round.
Am I the only one that dislikes this matchup? Other than Friday, it’s been almost entirely Player vs Door. Each server just takes turns throughout the day storming the entire map. Their population falls off and a couple hours later, another one is steamrolling everything.
Honestly i beleive your just getting on at bad times. For me i tend to get on after Dragonbrand Primetime. So i’m defending our captured lands with a outnumbered buff.
Prolonged stalling battles is all i deal with. with the hopes of getting lucky and stealing a win until the next wave hits us.
If you look threw some of today threads someone said that the number one rated player in spvp is a necro and when i looked up his build it was alot of Vitality. Unfortunately he didn’t have gear on the page just jewelery and runes.
i understand that the racials tend to be weaker versions of other abilities. But for a Norn a weaker ability is better then none at all. Example underwater norns lose access to all elites but 1. plague form is all we get underwater.
I’m only really familair with char and norn elites. since all my 80’s currently come from those races.
the char elites are better then the norn elites IMO specially for a necro. of course alot are still not accessible underwater.
Yeah the Bear form seems to be the only form i have found any use out of. Unfortunately it doesn’t really fit well with my playing style. i’m more of a Run and gun player and the loss of mobility when using any of the abilities is really crippling.
In PvE and PvP i’m finding the racial abilities of the Norn to be completely dwarfed compared to a couple of the other racials.
Now i’m not totally familair with all the racials. but as i understand it Sylari get a AoE immobilized which is stupid strong compared to what the Norn get.
So i was looking for feed back as to which races compliment the Necro class and why people think that.
Some one posted the above link last week -think it was the highest ranked tournament player named Powerr. Take a look at it though for solo play I don’t use any signets.
Maybe i missed it but i was wondering if anyone could tell what his armour stats were on this build. i only see the runes.
And the no building seige issue is clearly marked in your screen shot where? you have a screen shot and if it’s an actuall issue it will be dealt with. lets move on.
Kita you’re either delusional or have no idea what’s going on with your server because Blackgate was middle of the pack until a bunch of guilds jumped from their previous servers to yours.
Did you even look at Kita’s signature? He plays on Darkhaven. This rant and his mention of Blackgate was probably prompted by a WvW guild that transferred from DH to BG this week.
Also, for the record, BG had climbed to the #6 spot in the rankings, and played in a T2 match with SBI and IoJ the week starting on 10/12, which was BEFORE any of the transfers in from HoD and ET.
Yes Blackgate got it’s huge influx of guilds during it’s matchup with Dragonbrand. the following week the rest of the guilds that left dragon brand went to SoS. simple as that.
Turtling shouldn’t NEED a counter. It should be ineffective by its very description: “Everyone stack tightly in the same space.” That should NEVER be a good idea in WvW. It shouldn’t even be possible, but technical limitations need to allow it, so at least make it something zergs do if they want to die, not win.
Anyone who actually defends the use of this tactic has no concept of good game design (or sportsmanship) whatsoever.
…As for portals, just limit its utility such as:
1) Apply a debuff (as someone mentioned) when they use a portal which prohibits them from using another portal for 45 seconds. Or…
2) Allow a portal to carry only up to 10 players before it closes.
There will always be times in WvW when holding a position trumps all. Through out history this has happened time and time again. not once did any one question it.
If a group of players decides to hunker down and hold a spot putting all there energy into making sure you can’t take there position then you have number of options.
take action in a manner that will force them to move, attack and break there lines, ignore them and look for greener pastures.
to many games and to many events has allowed these tactic to be used for you guys to win this arguement about this being an imbalancing game mechanic.
But if you must next time you see it happen report them all for blocking your game progress.
Have i ever done this, nah i have never been in a position where it would be required. But i can honestly say if my group/guild knew we needed to hold a position to keep an enemy server from making any major advances and this was the best tactic then yes i would do it.

Any guild that was worth anything “stacked” we called out targets and dominated other guilds.
this isn’t a system thats new. it’s been getting done in any game that has allowed it. because it’s a tactic that works. The real issue is the culling problem.
people who have issues with the tactic of stacking are more then likely just frusterated by the fact they are not as organized. which is understandable. in the end to be truely effective you need to be in a group.
we really need to stop making multiple threads. its not “stacking” we are talking about we are talking about Buffs being unlimeted targets and a 40 man zerg with invulnerability and stability that can’t be hit in the first place let alone the 5 amn AoE restriction after that.
the culling and portal drama is just icing on the cake.
Buff’s while are unlimited only have temporary effects. i have a guardian so even with max traits spent i can put a buff up that last’s 12-14ish seconds but then have to wait 48-96 seconds before i can put it up again.
stacks while useful are only so useful. powerful against an unorganized groups. So far as i can tell my only issue i have found with stacks is i can’t see them until i run into it.
there are ways to beat a stack. for example. seige is not affected by the limit of 5 targets.
i know i’m playing the devils advicate on this but i’ve played alot of WvW based pvp over the years and this is a tactic that gets used alot.
2000 years ago they used the Phalanx formation. but eventually it got broken too.
as for how the buff’s can target more then 5 well they are of limited use and unless the group is extremely organized those buff’s will be down alot of the fight.
tell me how often most classes can drop an AoE and then ask yourself how often a class can drop a buff.

Currently i’m running a glass Cannon build. So i have alot of Rampager’s gear on. or Dungeon versions of those stats. it allowed me to really pump out alot of condition damage and also pack a wallup with direct damage and DS damage as well.
the Khilborn gear is got the looks to be the prefered Necro stats and so does the Twilight Arbor gear.
Again though still trying to figure out my perfered form Damage.
So i’ve been shopping around and have been looking for the right gear you could say. But can’t seem to find the right stats on the TP so i was wondering if people could help me out.
I’m looking for Toughness/Condition/Precision.
I’ve tried looking up Rabid in the TP but doesn’t seem to come up.
