I really hope we hear a devs opinion on the subject. This sub-forum hasn’t seen a red post in over a month. Have they ever even tested allowing healing in DS in any of their test servers? Such as how they tested capture the flag and didn’t like it?
Why don’t we ever see dev discussion on the most debated subjects? All we see in the dev tracker is, “Thanks for reporting the bug! We are looking at it! It looks beautiful, thanks!”
The good thing about this change is that a large amount of players didn’t even know healing didn’t work in DS. Now they will which will cause many “healing in DS threads”.
Spectral skills wouldn’t be a problem. They would actually be useful for once.
If you could heal in DS, what viable options are there to heal with?
- Life Siphon with every hit
- Life Siphon with every critical hit
- Regeneration boon
- Transmutation
- Blood Fiend siphons
- Vampiric Master trait
- Well of Blood
So looking at that list, we conclude that the only decent healing mechanics would be Life Transfer which is on a 40 second cooldown, Well of Blood which would finally be up to par with Consume Conditions and the regeneration boon.
Life siphoning is always weak. Or are you planning on casting 500 life blasts while in DS to recover 20k HP with life siphoning traits?
You could heal around 5,000 HP by entering Deathshroud if you took all of the above and put it all on cooldowns and sacrificed all of your damage to become a bunker.
Guardian, Ele and Engi have bunker builds. So overpowered if a Necro heals ~5,000 health while losing life force every 40 seconds?
Giving examples of other classes healing the Necromancer while in DS isn’t really a good argument. Any class helping The Necromancer in an uneven fight will cause them to win.
Eg. 2v1 Necro/Thief VS Guardian. Guardian loses anyway.
Eg. 2v2 Necro/Guardian VS Engineer/Necro. Even fight even with allied healing.
Not regenrating health while in DS is just a massive balance flaw. Hell, even not regenerating Life Force in DS is stupid as is. So is losing spectral armor when you enter it. GOSH!! Spectral Armor would actually be useful if it didnt remove it!!

Yeah, something strange happened to our server. We are almost facing another tier drop at this rate.
(edited by Ruufio.1496)
What a garbage server Borlis Pass is. I was having loads of fun from Friday-Sunday when the scores for all 3 servers were within 100s/1000s of points and it was an extremely fair match – one of the fairest in a while
Then Sunday night/Monday morning comes.
All 3 maps are capped. Borlis Pass is 20k ahead of everyone else. What a PoS server. You ruined a potentially great match up by PvDing all night. Hope you had fun for 2 days that it was actually fun.
There won’t be any challenge at all from here on out from Devona’s Rest or Ehmry Bay. You completely demoralized both servers by showing how “superior” you are by attacking empty forts all night. You were one of my favourite servers to fight in a while and then you destroy any integrity you had in one night.
Pathetic.
How many days until reset? Oh yeah – 5. Watch how little challenge there will be from now until reset now that no one stands a chance at winning but Borlis Pass. The same challenge that was there from Friday-Sunday will no longer be present.

The fact that this thread goes past page 1 very quickly and there are only 3 pages of questions (most of which ask that same questions) really says something about the state of the game lol.
99% of Necromancers don’t even know that Dark Armor affects life transfer.
Dark Armor should replace protection of the horde.
Double teaming us with everything they have till the very last day. Classy.
Thanks Yak’s Bend, for double teaming us, constantly, all the time, while Crystal Desert’s borderlands almost always remained untouched. I guess taking stuff from a server that can’t challenge you is fun. We had second place for a while, but even a server as skilled as ours can’t hold off 100x the amount of players we have.
Next time, attack Crystal Desert more.
~No respect.
Peace.
Cya again soon. LOL

For PvE you can do whatever but never go full glass cannon Necro in PvP – you will get owned.
TPvP is garbage. This works fine in real PvP (WvW).
The only arguments I can see are that it would make glass cannons like backstab thieves even stronger and bunkers like guardians or elementalists harder to kill.
But this is an issue with the class balance itself – not the stat customization.
But 100 blades and unload both suck in SPvP so allowing everyone to customize the way they want would help this, would it not?
Do any of you actually feel overpowered in World VS World by being able to completely customize your character with trinkets and gear?
What’s the deal with SPvP still having just an amulet and a jewel for customization?
World VS World is the true PvP in this game. I was into SPvP for the first month but now, going to SPvP… it’s like… barf Why can’t I customize my character the way I want it?
How do you think the Necromancer compares to the Engineer in terms of 1v1 bunker-busting?
Honestly? The problem is that other classes need long cast times as well.
This game is supposed to have counterplay.
So many powerful abilities have no wind-up cough backstab.
Why are rangers limited to 2 pets?
Why can’t rangers swap to any pet that they want when their current one has died?
Allowing rangers to swap when a pet dies will make it so a dodging-pet isn’t even needed.
Just swap your pet when it’s dead. (On a cooldown, of course)
Doesn’t this make more sense? It makes no sense at all to be limited to only 2 pets. Rangers should access to the full assortment.
Just give them a pet-swap cooldown when their pet dies.
Then pets don’t need to have the AI of a human across the board.
Here is an important topic I’d like them to talk about.
- Every class currently has an ability to stomp opponents, which is nice. Are mechanics such as shroud-stomp or mistform-stomp intended?
this would be a waste of a question. of course they are intended. what gives you the impression they aren’t?
Are you joking me?
If you enter Death Shroud and then try to stomp or res, you can’t. It was originally made this way because way back in closed beta, you would have stability for the entire duration you were in Death Shroud, so it would have been overpowered to stomp or res, etc.
This is no longer the case though, as Death Shroud was massively nerfed after closed beta.
You have to press 2 buttons at the same time to be able to do these stomps. It would be nice to hear Anet’s opinions on the matter now that the game has been out for so long. Necromancer’s no longer have stability for the entire duration and Death Shroud is their only defensive mechanic/ability to stomp with.
For Elementalists, they can’t be stopped when mistform-stomping, but they have to waste a valuable cooldown to do it.
Anet have never spoken how they feel about this subject so it would be nice to know if they plan on angering a ton of players by removing these abilities or not. Most Necromancers agree that we should be able to stomp or res in Death Shroud by default, not by glitching it by pressing 2 buttons at once.

It’s been 7 months already. Where are my viable builds?
Give specific examples of how you are going to change something for a class. If the devs acknowledge that Corrosive Poison Cloud is a useless PoS skill and finally plan on changing it, I want to know what they’re going to do to change it. If the devs understand that the Elemensalist and Mesmer are overpowered in every way, shape and form, I want to know what they plan on changing.
Here is an important topic I’d like them to talk about.
- Every class currently has an ability to stomp opponents, which is nice. Are mechanics such as shroud-stomp or mistform-stomp intended?
(edited by Ruufio.1496)
And what situation would that be? When they glitch inside of a post and can’t use /stuck to get out?
I hope you aren’t actually suggesting that CPC is good… lol
If CPC applied its conditions every second like Caltrops, I would consider it as a worthy utility because it already has a targeting option whereas wells need a trait to be targeted. And really, applying its conditions every second wouldn’t even be all that strong anyway.
Does anyone complain about the spammable poison cloud on the trebuchet that inflicts like 30 seconds of poison? Nope. 15 seconds… if the opponent stands in CPC the entire time, is just… rofl.
Also, Luke, you are so right.
This skill has been like this since the kittening beta. In beta, poison stacked and ticked every second like bleeds. Now it’s the worst condition in the game.
(edited by Ruufio.1496)
I don’t think any of those who you listed are good. There are TONS of really good thief players, they just don’t go around the internetz showing off
This.
Same goes for every class. The best players are the ones who don’t glorify themselves and think they are unbeatable.
Obviously no comparison.
Caltrops can stack 25 bleeds, cripple and trigger signet of malice with every pulse on each enemy.
Corrosive Poison Cloud can poison for 15 seconds and weaken for a short time if the opponent is stupid enough to stand in it. Actually… the opponent would have to be stupid to run out of it, because it isn’t even remotely threatening. Running away would just mean doing less damage for no reason, when you can just stand in it and have it do absolutely nothing to you.
Caltrops is also on a near spammable cooldown. Corrosive Poison Cloud is on a 40 seconds cooldown? lol
What’s the deal here? It is so useless and should have been changed a long time ago.
Well, I found this blade of grass the other day. It was a little more angled than some other pieces of grass. I’m not gonna tell you where it was though.
Adding an “unlockable ability” to dye weapons with dyes you already own would make Anet almost as much $$$ as they made by selling the game in the first place.
They don’t do this, why?
Don’t know about you but $1,000,000+ from sales sounds good to me. Update like this would take no time at all to code.
sigh
Could we have this fixed soon? It’s really annoying.
Why is it that the 2 best looking focus’ in the game: The Anomaly & Spirit Links both have purple glows to match the Mesmer?
My Necromancer has a dark colour scheme and every other focus in the game is lame. Accursed Chains is almost a good looking focus, but it’s more of a grey shade and it’s barely visible.
Why doesn’t Accursed Chains have a black glow like a Necromancer does when in Death Shroud? Was there really any reason not to make it like that? Why should Spirit Links – which is the exact same skin – have a purple glow and Accursed Chains not have a black glow?
Skulls are also lame, because they are an ugly colour.
Oh yeah, Moldnir Effigy, Nightmare Focus, Peacemaker’s Focus, Tribal Focus and Glints scale also have purple glows. Mesmer bias much?
TL;DR
I am not a purple Necromancer. Where are the good looking/dyeable skins? Where is my black glowing Anomaly and Accursed Chains?
Where are the black claw focus skins from Guild Wars 1? The skins are already created. Let’s see them in Guild Wars 2.

He did pretty decent for a while, but he chose stupid utilities. Well of Suffering, why? It didn’t really do anything. Spectral Armor was junk too. Spectral Walk and Flesh Wurm would probably help a lot.
Before saying stuff…. maybe someone should actually try it first?
I think a power build that focuses on life force gain would be able to do it. Using Death Shroud to soak the damage.
Say you are fighting a Mesmer and he keeps popping up clones etc. Do you have to manually change target from a clone or can you just aim at whatever Mesmer you think is the real one and have it automatically target him?
I haven’t tried the mod yet but I can’t stand that I know what Mesmer is real but I have to manually re-target him instead of his clones.
There is no OP build for Necromancer. Any other class going full glass cannon does more than a Necromancer.
It’s not like it’s a bad weapon, but it does seem like the most sub-par out of the three off-hands we have.
Off-hand dagger has the most traits that affect it. The focus has many traits that go well with it. But the warhorn? It only has a single trait that affects it – Banshee’s Wail. Warhorn almost seems weak if you don’t that that one trait that it has.
Warhorn has some utility… but not as much as the other off-hands. Off-hand dagger can transfer conditions. Focus can remove boons. Wail of Doom is a short daze on a long cooldown that inflicts no damage. The biggest flaw is that players only use the warhorn for swiftness because of the Necromancer’s lack of speed. Would you actually use the warhorn if it didn’t grant swiftness or if there were non-utility ways to increase speed? Probably not.
So what can be done to make the warhorn up to standards?
• Make Wail of Doom inflict a piercing 1s fear. 1.5s fear with Banshee’s Wail trait.
• Make the Banshee’s Wail trait affect the trait Decaying Swarm – Locust Swarm at 25% HP.
• Change how Decaying Swarm works – a Locust Swarm at 25% HP is useless.
• Change the trait Speed of Shadows – Run 25% faster in Death Shroud to grant swiftness.
This would make it up to par because it would synergize with a lot of traits lines. Scepter/Warhorn fear build anyone?
What’s everyone else’s opinions on the warhorn?

The motherboard I’m getting states that it has a DVI-D port on the back panel. My monitor does have a DVI-D IN on the back. (As well as a VGA IN)
So I should be alright I guess. I probably have a cord stashed somewhere already that came with my monitor, with the other buttload of cords in my drawer.
Swapping weapons while in the middle of a dodge stops you where you swapped.
Needs fixed.
This short video explains it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj1tarrDv-k&feature=youtu.be
Really trying to like the axe, bug this has been one of the main reasons I can’t get into it. Opponents just have to strafe/dodge, which they do, and it ruins your attacks completely.
For Life Siphon, you have to face your opponents general direction to activate the skill, but it continues no matter what way you turn. Axe… have to pretty much see eye-to-eye with your opponent and you can’t turn or the skills will cancel…

I remember them asking the devs about the Elementalist downstate specifically and they kind of just, smirked, and dodged the question without actually answering it.
I thought they just nerfed the Engineer lol.
Ask them when they will start balancing the classes.
I thought you left to play another game after that post on reddit about the recent patch.
Good thing you aren’t a dev.
I’m 100% sure the devs will read my thread after that sentence, though.
When a Necro tries to well bomb me, I just enter Death Shroud.
Sucks to not be a Necro. For only this reason, though.
2 seconds of poison would be overpowered on Life Blast?
Lol’d.
But, I mean, hey. I don’t even use a condition build so what do I care if Death Shroud sucks for them.
Bump because I want Anet to make this game esports. Esports require strategy.
I agree that it needs cleave. I think we all know that Arenanet will never in a million years agree though, because it wasn’t their idea for the Necromancer.
I did all of the work for you, Anet. Now, all you have to do is the coding.
Death Shroud
Life Blast – This skill now inflicts 2 seconds of poison.
Scepter
Feast of Corruption – This skill now applies Might for 3 seconds per condition on the foe.
Axe
Rending Claws – This skill now also siphons a little bit of health with every hit.
Dagger
Deathly Swarm – This skill now behaves in the same way as Reaper’s Touch which improves its single target condition transfer and bounce ability.
Focus
Spinal Shivers – We have reverted the 50%, 100%, 150% damage boost. This skill will instead apply Might for 5 seconds per boon removed for a maximum of 3 Might for 5 seconds.
Utilities
Signet of Spite – Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds. Now also applies Fear for 1 second.
Spectral Armor – Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds.
Spectral Wall – Opponents that pass through now also grant you Life Force.
Corrosive Poison Cloud – Now also applies pulse Bleeding for 1 second on opponents.
Summon Flesh Wurm – Attacks now inflict Poison for 1 second.
Summon Shadow Fiend/Haunt – Haunt now also damages foes in the radius.
Summon Bone Fiend – Every hit now causes Cripple for 0.5 seconds.
Spite Traits
Signet Power – This trait is now called “Conditional Might”. Gain 1 Might per condition on you. Lose 1 Might whenever you lose a condition.
Siphoned Power – Now also grants Might when hit while in Death Shroud and under 25% Life Force.
Curses Traits
Reaper’s Precision – 33% chance increased to 50% chance.
Spectral Attunement – This trait now affects the trait “Last Grasp”.
Banshee’s Wail – Warhorn skills now recharge 20% faster instead of 15%. Increased duration and recharge rate now also affects the “Decaying Swarm” trait.
Death Magic Traits
Reanimator – Jagged Horrors no longer lose health over time.
Protection of the Horde – Now grants +20 to every stat for each minion you control.
Dark Armor – Now grants Protection for 3 seconds when channeling.
Death Shiver – Now applies Vulnerability every 2 seconds instead of every 3.
Spiteful Vigor – Retaliation lowered to 3 seconds. Now works with Deathly Invigoration.
Blood Magic Traits
Dagger Mastery – Dagger skills now recharge 20% faster instead of 15%.
Quickening Thirst – Now grants 25% movement speed if wielding a dagger at all.
Soul Reaping Traits
Path of Midnight – Death Shroud skills now recharge 20% faster instead of 15%.
Spectral Mastery – This trait now affects the trait “Last Grasp”
Speed of Shadows – You now run at double speed while in Death Shroud.
Decaying Swarm – Now activates at 25% health or 25% life force. 30 second cooldown.
Imagine all of the viable build possibilities…
I did hear it correctly that you want more viable builds, right, Anet?
(edited by Ruufio.1496)
FYI
Ectos, as well as everything else, will actually go UP overtime. Everything always does. Ectos are cheaper now because everyone’s getting them. This means all of these people are also becoming richer.
Exactly. You are able to do 2% more damage for a few seconds but the opponent is able to counter that damage. Increasing the flat damage by 2% cannot be countered.
Lol? How can you accidently swap your weapon?
Thank you, Larynx, for clarifying.
The thing with 1-3 stacks of Might vs 50%-150% damage is that 3 Might is only 105 power and 105 condition damage (For conditions, that’s like 7 more damage). This is much less than 150% damage but it would last longer (5s in example) and would affect more abilities, giving the same result that 150% damage does, but creating more variety for the effect.
As it is after the patch, Spinal Shivers will now do 2K damage (my build) if 3 boons are removed, instead of 1K damage if none are removed. 1,000 damage increase. That is instantly more powerful and non-counterable. 3 Might for 5 seconds would go with the attrition aspect of the Necromancer being stronger over time, allowing the Necromancer to have a 105 Power/ConDmg boost for 5 seconds, which is counterable and is more balanced than a flat damage increase.
I still support that this game can become esports… but this can only happen if the developers create more combat depth, as Larynx said. As it is right now, you are right… players more or less just spam their abilities.
Reaper’s Touch – Necromancer Focus skill #4.
This skill applies Vulnerability which increases damage for all allies. This skill was buffed a few patches earlier to give 12 Vulnerability instead of 10. This was not a flat damage increase. This is the same idea that gaining Might with Spinal Shivers would be. It has a counter and is not just “Boosted damage.”

Didn’t realize I needed a heat sink haha. Okay, I the 212 EVO. I’m pretty content on the M4 SSD though because it’s so much cheaper.
This is the case I’m buying btw.
http://www.ncix.com/products/productdetail2.php?noheader=1&sku=61928
The Gigabyte Z77 UD3H apparently supports 1 motherboard fan and 4 extra fans. The case itself comes with 2 fans in the front and 1 at the back. I’m buying 1 extra fan which should go on the top and blow out, yes? Also, can I trust that the company I’m using will install the motherboard fan facing the right way as well? I also hope I can trust that they will use thermal paste.
That’s a total of 5 fans… so that should be pretty good.
