My Two Cents :
- No more “falling to your death” mechanics, aka breakable floors, put a transparent glass wall around the map, etc.
- Remove the jump pads.
- Rework the “Skyhammer”:
- Make it available only at certain times, (aka 11:30, 8:30, 5:30, pretty much like “Med” on ToSS).
- Place some sort of bonusses inside the underground passages of the map.
- Give it 6 uses and enable it for 1-2mins only each time.
- Increase the rotation speed of the Hammer
- Give it two types of ammo, 1, the current AOE dmg strike, and the 2nd, a healing shot with Condi cleanse.
Reasoning:
- Personally, I think the map brings a lot of fun as it is, but also brings a lot of frustration, specifically with the jump-pads, trying to reach a certain place with those jumps is just a nightmare, even worse when you’re trying to run away or kite someone, its dreadful. The theme and the hidden passages are great imho, but we need a reason to go to these passages without just wasting our time. Maybe a random ferocity in some spot, something like that.
- I think the Skyhammer itself, the cannon I mean, its fun, but how about if we give it a healing factor too? and make it available only during certain times, that way people wouldn’t zerg it from min 00, they will (or should) try to cap first, fight on points until the “hammer” is available.

Nah, it’s really far from grindy.. you guys can’t just expect to get every single feature in the easiest way possible.. I’d hope the req. stays that way.
Oh my.. Can’t wait to try those traps! Feels now we can rely on a full trap build? We’ll see after the update..! Also new skill! yay!
Btw, Karl, About Procession of Blades, the spin animation felt a lot slower in the last BWE, was that an intended change? also.. Whirl finisher plz? haha.
btw, Thanks guys for the constant updates on DH, much much appreciated!
Can’t say I really hate traps on DH, speakin of which.. is it me or Procession of Blades’s spin animation is way way more slower than it used to be?
If only Traps could land some sort of ward or symbol, combo finisher (for PoB) or anything else, that’d be great..
To be honest, I thought Druid was going to be an OK-ish Elite spec, I was dead wrong haha.. It feels great, I find little to nearly 0 complaints about Staff #1 (except that weird hammer holding stance it has), Its not intended to do a high dps damage on enemies, for me it’s alright..
Maybe having Natural Convergence (Celestial Avatar #5) stripping a pair of Boons, but that’s about it, as for the glyphs, if one of them could grant Stability, that.. would be just perfect.
Overall, I really liked it so far, feels very rewarding, even though some may find Staff#1 doing a non optimal damage, I think its alright the way it is.
PS: I still find very strange how a Wyverm prefers to be on ground rather than just fly..
Honestly I think its a good change, presuming Arena-net have properly balanced key drop rates all this means is the same amount of keys will be in existence, they will just be spread out among players alot more, and overall that’s a very good thing, I can actually now get keys doing content that is fun
Of course that is a big IF since we don’t know the details on the drop rates, like how often and where
Hopefully we’ll get more info about is.. Key drop chance on Open World has always been abysmal. How about making them drop (with a more reasonable chance) on completed events through the world? That could push more people to make more events here and there..
Oh god.. so brutal..! Can’t wait to try the berserk again!
Though I’m not a fan of a constant Fire theme on the ’zerker spec. but those sweet sweet combos and references/Primal Bursts, its just so difficult to ignore haha.
Nice changes so far and here is hoping to see more improvements on the DD animation department, like really.. the Monkey King tonic have such an amazing animation on every single jump, it might be tough to pull off an entire new animation set just for one elite spec though and I might be asking too much but please please, make us feel the Daredevil theme!
Good changes so far!, though I don’t know yet if LB is going to root us entirely or not (as someone pointed out, having a Skill shot on LB it felt really awkward but I’m holding my veredict til the next BWE), as for Traps, I actually like using them (though I might be the minority on this regard), my main issue with them was that they offered 0 to none survivability or condi heal, now with a quick cast and more defense choices here and there (If Fragments of Faith could work as Purging Flames or Hallowed Ground i’d be happier lol), we might have the Dhunter we were waiting for!
Y’know? I’d like to hear a some sort of chain SFX when you throw the Virtue#1 OR when you actually cripple someone with LB#1 (or some kind of noticeable sound when you cause cripple).
I don’t know why LB feels so clunky to use either in PvP and/or PvE, definitely LB#1 needs to deal a bit more damage, and LB#5 needs to react a bit faster too, there a very noticeable delay between landing the AOE and seeing it work trapping enemies, (i know its intended to work like that but really, it feels just a waste of effort of even using it since it forces you to stay all the time).
As for traps, I like the idea posted by RebornbyFire.7913 about traps having boons on activation, i dont want traps to be overpowered but really, right now picking a full trap build on a PvP match is just beggin to get stomped.
Another issue is the virtues, why are they so hard to use? or at least that’s how i feel them right now about virtue#2, if i want to get a quick heal, I need to land it in a place, which takes time, idk i just hate it lol, the spear is nice, can’t complain on that and the shield is.. well.. it kinda works, but virtue#2 feels so so awkward..
I really want to love the DH, but in pvp is just godawful for a tons of reasons, i dont think DH is a joke but in no way they’re in a good place either. Traps need to give the DH some sort of survability, the heal trap takes too long to be really effective.. most of the DH skills take too long to activate too (specifically skill #5). I wish i could run with a full LB/Trap build with DH on PvP, but doing that is just suicide.
Well, I find little to none sustain on PvP, there’s absolutely no way to heal any conditions at all (i feel like we need a trait that could heal conditions with traps or a rune that actually can do that).
Traps take way waay too long to be landed, and even so, the healing trap is just well, awkward to use, I dont know what it is exactly but for PvP feels so difficult to endure a battle against any kind of clash, either the LB skills/traps take too long to hit or the traps just take too long to be landed and activated. (why can’t we actually throw them like the rangers did it before?)
I really want to love DH, even tho I hated the name/theme (still do but to a less degree), the skills and visuals are great imho but from a pvp perspective, it doesn’t fulfill the role it was intended to. Traps need to give some kind of survability through healing conds or giving boons, med skills do that, shouts do that too and consecrations also do that too. so why our traps can’t do that?
As many have pointed out already
- LB1 feels really awkward (it’s just way too slow for an autoattack).
- LB2 needs to be a bit more flashy since it produces some reasonable damage.
- Traps/Virtues are cool, but you end up giving up a lot of sustain/boons/survivability.
Overall I really liked the DH theme, it’s fun but it’s not THAT fun, it’s not there just yet, a bit tweak is needed here and there, specially with the traps and virtues, a full trap build leaves you really really vulnerable now that you can’t rely on virtues (the DHunter virtues sounded good on concept but they can’t reeplace the current ones efficiently).
Looks great!, now if we can only choose a different background.. the arrangement is awesome though!
WHAT
THE
CRAPNot cool Josh, not cool at all.
I am straight up angry right now.You have completely kitten the engineer for every mode of the game.
By temporarily disabling a bugged trait until it can be fixed. Dude, learn to play the freakin game and stop relying on overpowered abilities. First endless complaints over Mortar getting balanced, now because you can’t use a trait that’s clearly working incorrectly? This community is disappointing.
What was working incorrectly?
I think Gern’s post was pure sarcasm.. and if not, man.. it should be lol..
Also Wrath of Justice (Immobilize) doesn’t seem to work with GS 3rd Skill “Leap of Faith”
I think Perfect Inscriptions is not working with Signet of Resolve, it doesn’t grant you “light aura” upon activation.
Inquisitor or Zealot for me, I don’t mind Arbiter that much, even if the animations are here to stay (traps do need a lot of work, they looked pretty lame and simplistic on the pvp preview, but that’s another topic)
Really?
Dragonhunter addressed issues people actually had with Guardian. It gave us a long range weapon, potential condition damage, and soft CC with Cripple.
While the Necro spec looks cool, it hasn’t addressed a single concern the Necro community has.
Here’s something I pulled from another thread regarding this.
It seems like Anet is very wishy-washy about the spec in general, honestly. They want it to be a backline support, but they’re making the virtues less supportive, and they’re trying to justify an obviously divisive name for it by saying that it’s inspired by witch hunters who actively seek to purify evil by destroying dragons, but yet it’s still supposed to be supportive and stay in the backlines and let other people do the grunt work, but then they’re giving us traps that aren’t ground targeted that you can only drop right in front of you, even though you’re supposed to be on the backlines and also actively chasing the enemy to vanquish evil.
That’s why I’m pretty peeved about the whole thing. It’s very scatterbrained and just feels poorly planned out.
So at best, they kind of gave us what we wanted? We got a more reliable ranged weapon, but it’s certainly not a support-oriented spec like they’re claiming, and traps are terrible regardless of what role you play. Furthermore, the entire Dragonhunter spec feels like it came from the minds of at least 3 or 4 different people who refused to compromise and just threw their input in it individually. There are so many contrasting elements to it that it lacks any decent amount of cohesion, both with the base Guardian class as well as itself, even.
As for the Reaper, we haven’t seen any of the shouts yet. All we have detail on to go from right now is one new GS skill and one new Death Shroud skill. In the video it looked like GS could be getting a pull skill as well, but we don’t have any skill facts to determine if it has other effects alongside the pull. I’d say wait to judge whether or not it fills the gap for what Necro players need until we get some details on the skills and traits.
Couldn’t agree more on this.
d.hunter just comes out of nowhere when it comes to Guardian, just look at chronomancers and (now) reapers, they preserved their thematic look and lore and with mechanics that actually make sense to their profs.
Guardian suddenly lays traps..? because they’re like witch hunters? but they hunt dragons instead? but all dragons are evil then?
dhunter is a convoluted mix of weird ideas in one package to me.
I’m having enough of this. Guys, before you throw your impressions and feelings of the phrase “big-game hunting” around, please research the term. It is more than fitting for a dragon hunter… it is a necessity even…
Dragon hunting is fine for a big game hunter.
guardians are not big game hunters.
Even Jon said they were supposed to be more like witchhunters.
No, dragons are not this game’s version of witches. They can’t both be game and witches. And no, dragons aren’t evil. They’re basically elemental forces and part of the cycle of the land.
Yknow? I’m sorry but seriously, Jon just contradicted himself many many times on that post.. and I’m not even trying to be unrespectful to him but everyone can see that at this point..
Necro’s new spec for today, “Reaper”, so.. I wonder where is this specialization excuse to go so out of theme with Guardian.. Mesmers get a shield and ability to manipulate time, Necros get a sword and it’s all about fear, terror like a “classic horror movie”.
And Guardians get a crocodile dundee thematic spec..
Couldn’t have said it better myself WhiteSphere, right now we can only hope for the best..
_The mechanics are sound. They have been what guardians have wanted..
Nope, they were not pal.. a huge majority expected a very VERY different angle from this elite spec. (see the previous artwork from the “new spec” a guardian with blue wings and a crystal bow.. how’s that supposed to be a hunter of some sort..?) hence the mixed and bland reception on different parts on the net.. Compare it with Chronomancer, which was unanimously well received.
The concept is not only vastly different but weird for what a Guardian is supposed to be, it’s not even coming closer to a Paragon to the very least.. The mechanics are OK, but again, Guardian with traps?.
They should’ve considered a different approach, elites were supposed to be a ramification from the main profession not a whole different concept (both thematic and mechanics). It just doesn’t make any sense at all.
Its a bit forced to expect to see a D.hunter to be a witch hunter or a righteous whatever they want to call the elite spec now. I think ANet just wanted to justify the elite name..
I might be the minority, but i’ll really going to miss the Tomes (mainly for the animation rather than the mechanic itself).
If they could find a way to turn them into kits, man that’d be so so awesome..
Sentinel sounds great to me, but then again, its a personal choice, should we could suggest a name I’d go for that one tho..
We can only hope for ANet to reconsider a name change for a more fitting one.. we can only hope
Though I can acknowledge that they wanted to put more enphasis in Tyrian concept, Why they didn’t picked Paragon on first place? that goes beyond me..
The main problem with the D.Hunter and Guardian is that, their lore and thematic concepts are absurdly distant from each other.. (warriors and dragonhunters can relate alot better for example)
Sure, it’s another perspective for the guardian theme, but it’s just an unfitting theme for them.
People are mostly pleased with the mechanics, (even though they’re y’know.. “traps” sigh), their animations look great and the LB skillset looks pretty interesting I must say, though the elite spec name and theme are really awkward and weird, the new skillset has been pretty well recieved. (myself included).
The worst part is, the mechanics look at the very least, interesting and fun, but the “hunting” theme Anet is pushing for the Guardian prof. is just weird and unfitting.
The spec is for an offensive playstyle it seems, why not just give it a more thematic name like Zealot or Judge.
Seems Anet drop the ball on this one very hard, again the complaint is not about the mechanics, but the theme and name itself.
Mechanics are fine, I actually liked the entire LB skillset, and the traps look visually appealing.. and they might prove interesting to play, can’t complain that much..
But the spec name is still dreadful and impossible to deal with..
I’m still hoping that they reconsider a change at the very least, just change the name of the spec, let traps be traps (still they could’ve come with a better name like “Seals” or “Runes” and give them a trap mechanic).
Gameplay wise, the new spec looks interesting (not gonna lie on this one), HOWEVER the name is still unfitting and dull.
The only problem I have with the name is if I’m a guardian and I guard and protect someone or something, why the hell should I turn and become a hunter all the sudden?
Exactly this..! Both Guardian and Ranger have a very VERY different concept/theme from each other (a Ranger is very individualist while the Guardian is exactly the opposite).
If Anet wanted to push a more aggresive “name”, they could’ve taken “Zealot” for example, which fits Ok with the Guardian theme.
Having said that, Arbiter works ok for me, not my personal favourite but it gets the job done.
I rather have any other similar mechanic than “traps”, Why is ANET pushing that kind of mechanic on Guardians is beyond me..
It’s just so out of context and anti-thematic for a guardian, y’know, a paragon of justice and bla bla bla, that thanks to certain rune can go stealth through traps..
Prolly as a mechanic it could be interesting for some, (i personally despise it), but at the very least they could change the names (elite spec and “traps”), make them wards or call them something entirely different but give them the mechanic of traps (since i HIGHLY doubt they’re going to reconsider reverting it at all).
Anything but D. Hunter, Seraph or Sentinel are my personal favs. so far tho.
Traps should belong to Rangers and Thieves, they NEED that kind of mechanic, they rely on it (lorewise at least), how come a paragon of justice (guardian theme) will use traps? Give them more WARDS at the VERY LEAST..
Traps are absurdly out of theme, as for the mechanics of them are plain and just meh.. they hardly compete with meds and consecrations skills in efficency.
The only thing good about the new elite spec (dragonhunter, teehee) are the virtues..
Seraphim / Seraph
Archangel
Crusader
Warden
Zealot
Dragoon? (duh)
I’ll take anything ANYTHING over fragonhunter
Definitely a total and abysmal “meh”, guards with traps, just.. why? and don’t get me started with that horrible and awful name..
Easily, the most dissapointing elite skill of all HoT.
THANK YOU x 9999!
In all seriousness though, these changes are pretty much a dream become true for any JP enthusiast with a Charr or Norn as a main.
That’s just amazing ! Can we have the entire DBZ cast too? xd
Yes please! Stronghold looks absolutely amazing, and really i’d like to queue a lot on pvp just to play it, please add an option to queue for separate modes (Stronghold, Conq and Courtyard)
I just wanted to provide an update since it’s been a while.
- We are currently working to restore the Greatest Fear storyline to the live game. I can’t provide a release date at this point.
- In addition to restoring the Personal Story steps to their original order we’re making some minor improvements where possible (e.g. recording new VO or updating certain conversations, etc.).
We’ll provide additional details closer to release. Thanks much for your patience.
Ty x 9999
Just got a couple of friends to play GW2 with me, but had to tell them to wait a bit on their personal stories til we had a proper fix for the final chapters, glad to know that this issue is getting fixed.
5. LS2 Episode Availabilty
4. Acc. bound Dyes
3. PvP skins available in PvE (and viceversa)
2. Token Wallet
1. Commander Colored Tags
5. NPE
4. Trait Acquisition Overhaul
3. Eventual elimination of water combat (both PvP & WvW)
2. Fractals & Dungeon systems both abandoned.
1. Did I mentioned NPE and traits?
- Rework on NPE Stats acquisition.
For example, the fact that you acquire a full chunk of stats every certain amount of levels is dreadful and unbearable, back then in GW2 Alpha, you could actually level up and gain some attribute bonus to increase your main stats (AKA Vitality, Toughness, Precision and Energy), I’d love to see this system again on leveling experience, allow the player to raise up and actually feel how the character grows up through leveling and discovering the world.
As for the new Trait acquiring system, there is a whole thread about it, I don’t need to add anything to that really, there are tons of great ideas sinking slowly into the depths of oblivion.
If I had to be honest, and of course I know I don’t speak for every single person on GW2, the new daily system is fairly easier than the previous one.
Get a vista here, do gathering there, 3 dailies and you’re done, free 10AP points. I think the main problem comes if you don’t like to roam around the world (that is doing events or killing world bosses for example). or if you absolutely despise PvP/WvW (which is understandable too), not everything can be that easy, it is a MMO after all, but even so, gathering, getting vistas and etcs are something quite easy to get done.
But then again, what if you have just started a new character and you don’t have any WP unlocked at all, or any maps discovered, that can be a bit frustrating, if that’s so you have a few options besides map exploring, sadly the only ones that come to my mind are PvP related, (if you need those 10AP with extremely urgency with a new character/account) play in Hot Join for a bit, and you can get 2 of 3 daily achievements without too much effort.
In short, the new system is quite simple and easy for veteran players, for newcomers maybe not so much but there are ways to work around them too.
Q: What if an expansion doesn’t come in 2015 (or anything that indicates an expansion at all)?
A: All hell breaks loose (on the forums)
I’d like to see some devs’s opinion about map instances and if it would be hard to implement in maps like queensdale or fireheart rise for example. That being said, I’d love to see a hard mode for maps like metrica province with their past mechanics (fixing golems and etcs with a timer for example).
I still don’t understand why the contact list works that way, is so awkward and uneasy to have, for example, unwanted contacts following you (sure you can report stalkers and block stuff but really.. ) for example people who blocked you first can whisp you back (you need to block them too so they can’t keep whisping you), if they block you they can tell where you are or what are you doing through the contact list.. there was even a case in wvw where people block you (that is blocking someone from another server) exclusively to know your acc name and harass you… it’s just dreadful
Yeah I think we can all agree that having this option as a gemstore item is a terribad idea..
Instead just let us replay our PS, and to make it interesting for the sake of replayability, y’know adding hard mode achievements, revamping some chapter rewards here and there, that’d be great too.. make the PS work just like the LS works now (but please without any paywall of some sort behind it).
