I’m playing necro since the launch (and few BWE). I have a warrior, a mesmer and an engineer, but my main and favorite is the necro. In sPvP(in WvW too) last six months i play terrormancer with condition duration – 4 nightmare runes + 2 Lyssa (30/20/0/0/20). With master trait for fear and 30 points in power/cond duration i had 2 seconds of fear for each Doom casted(enough for dark path to land). Combined with 15% faster DS skill recharge trait i could do this combo once every 17 seconds. Very handy. Almost impossible for anyone to survive on open space, if i fear him when he have 40% health.
NEVER KNEW that sigil of paralization affect fear … and now i see that it not just increase it with 15%, but it is a multiplier for 2.3 seconds in sPvP. It should be 3.45 seconds fear with the new changes.
Now … calculate the 1.5s fear with 50% trait, 20% from 2 giver’s weapons, 20% from runes, 30% from skill points spent in power/cond duration and 40% from food. Multiply the number by 1.15% (sigil of paralyzation) . If the theoretical calculations is correct this is 4.485 SECONDS FEAR IN WvW . I agree that the necros needed the love promised long ago, but this is too much.

I’m with i5 2500k @ 4.5 Ghz and HD7870XT (Tahiti LE @ 975 MHz core and 1500MHz memory). I play on 1680×1050, all effects and details maxed. In LA i have 35-60 fps. The card is hot and loud … i dont know why LA load the gpu so much. Outside it i have 60-100 fps with little or no culling (i always see the names, sometimes in mass Cursed Shore events i dont see the skins).
In WvWvW, in the big zergs i got down to 20 fps and i could hear my GPU dying. It temp goes up to 80*C, while in the room is 25-30 and all the 3 vents of my case are on 100% . The CPU at this time is <50% loaded. If i change the graphic appearance to “best performance” i have steady 50+ fps, even in the zergs. I still dont see skins sometimes, but i dont mind. I play smoothly and can see how much and where my enemies are. The card temp is <60*C , it vent is silent, so is the whole pc.
Few months ago i had PC with G850 with HD4870. The cpu was always >70% loaded. The card is hotter and louder than 7870 by default . There was no problem to leave the vent on 40%. The GPU temp went up to 90*C+, but with no effects on performance, neither to stability of the system. In LA fps was 20-60, outside it was 40-80. Very smooth, except in mass events, where there was bad culling and fps drop. No matter “best performance” or “best appearance” – in best performance the bottleneck was coming from the CPU, in best appearance from the GPU. WvWvW was almost unplayable. There was invisible zergs killing you instantly or longer battles with ~10 fps, which was unpleasant to play.
There is significant difference between G850 and i5 2500k. I cant say does it comes from 2 more cores or from the higher speed. Overclocked 2500k is definitely an overkill for GW2, so should be an FX83xx or FX81xx. About the cards … GW2 is very beautiful game with lot of effects, but i believe you can enjoy the game enough with lower class cards like HD7770 or GTX650Ti . If you want to play WvWvW you will still need top GPU. Probably best upgrade for you will be to buy a video and see things you never suppose they exist.

i vote for 10 gems for karma / glory / swim / killstreak booster, 20 for crafting / MF / exp one.
Let say in bigger part of Europe a cup of coffee is 1 Euro. I can make one at home almost for free, but I pay this price to sit in a bar with friends, to read newspaper or just to spent some time outside. I can have a juice too, a coke, soda and so on for almost the same price. It is just there, cheap and fresh unlike most of real life pleasures. As miriforst said – it is something so trivial that i dont care how much does it cost.
If i want to drink a MF booster in GW2 – it is 150 gems or ~2 Euros … WTF ?!? It is not a common buff, but i dont see it as exceptional as you price it. It is temporary buff, we all can play without, so it should be cheap and trivial. Make the boosters so cheap that no one would ever think do they worth.

You can run p1 not in an average, but in a minimum of 6 minutes. I would be glad to see a video of p1, which is shorter than 6m from loading screen to porting back to fireheart rise.
For average i would say 6m 30s, considering the group is perfect and the instance is not contested even once. I dont think you can save more than a minute, wearing ruby orbs or divinity runes instead of scavenging. There is 3 fights you have at all.

Omnomberry bar = +40% gold
gold infusion on ascended amulet = +20% gold
6 runes of scavenging = +15% gold (does the 4 war, 1 mes elitists allows this runes?)
banner (if someone have) = +5% gold
Flat gold:
1st boss drop 10s, 18s with all the boosts
last boss drop 16s, 28.8 with all the boosts
the chest before the flame balls drop 10s
Thats ~0.57 flat gold just from drop. No DR applies to it.

Khisanth, it is about selling 500-600 rare weapons. I cant just put them in the TP, because i will have to relist half of them later due to undercut. I will have to make and sell them 50 by 50, that would take like 2 weeks.
Mystic, if Arachnophobia is impossible to be output of forging 4 rares, than all the weapons which are obtainable by MF recipes are impossible too. Thats lower significantly the average price of any exotic you can get. If we add the dungeon and karma weapons (i’m pretty sure they are obtainable from MF), which are account bound and worth 0 gold … then a precursor will be the only output that can lead such a gamble to profit.
What about destroyer weapons ? Can you get one ?
As i said i have forged many rare runes. Back in the days it was profitable. I think it still is, but the amount of clicking it requires makes it not worth. There is 51 different types of exotic runes you can sell and 6 more dungeon runes you cant. Any of the 57 runes have the same probability, thats why, with a large enough sample you can average the price of superior rune. It is 1g 00s 40c now. Consider you got one exotic from each 5 forges, than for 16 major runes you can expect to get a rune which average value is 1g or 85s after the taxes. So … any lower than 85s you pay for 16 rare runes any bigger profit you can make forging them. Thats why the price of the most common rare runes is ~5s.
So, i’m simple asking – does this tactic is applicable to the weapons? Let say i forge daggers. Let say there is 50 types (not precursor) of different exotic daggers you can get, by forging 4 rare ones. Do all the 50 have same probability (2% chance) or the more valuable and rare they are, the less possible would be to get one?

I have leveled a warrior just to farm CoF P1. Tried it several times – it seems the premade farm groups with gear link are made mostly by noobs. My record is 3 consecutive runs with such an elitist group found in gw2lfg.

I know that they are not affected by it what i meant is that those chests drop pretty decent stuff as well and since many people do it it means that the market gets flooded with rares and ectos. This in addition to the MF buff is the cause for the rapid decrease in ecto prices.

More than a month passed since the globs had dropped below 25s. I dont see “rapid decrease in ecto price”. Last 2 weeks the price is 20-21s. I thought it will fall and stay below 20s, but i was wrong.
I think the ecto is on the bottom now, it will not drop anymore, unless a new patch come. I havent tried the new content, but i dont see any new ectos on the market. Seems SSC drop cant compensate the cease of sentinels items, salvageable with 30% chance for rare inscription. The ecto supply is steady ~55k, the demand is also ~75k, so is the sell price – 20-21s.

Does Sigil of Night works any time in dungeons?
Still cant understand the day/night things in GW2. In WoW as i remember there was a clock with server time, very handy since my local time was different. How can i see is it day or night in GW2?

I have saved lot of t5 crafting materials, like 2 stacks of each and i have bought like 1 stack of the sentinel’s rare inscriptions. My idea is to make rare weapons, daggers or GS’s probably and take my chance on MF. At MF, usually 1 of 5 forges result of higher tier item. So, each 16 rare weapons could produce 1 exotic. I want to ask, if we put aside precursors – does all the exotics you can obtain have the same chance? So far i have forged like 2500 major runes and i think there is same probability to get any superior rune, including the dungeon runes. Is it the same situation with the weapons ? Does anyone got rare skin exotic weapon by forging 4 rares?
Still cant decide … should i sell the weapons or forge them.

Here is the panic sell as i predicted – there is 3.5k ecto now at 21.01s . The highest buy order is 21.00 currently, but i think not for long.
Next prediction:
Till the end of the week the price will go below 20s. With the new sentinel insignia i think the globs will fit their price at 19s

If you use artificer; you can convert elder wood, mithril and 15 of any tier 5 crafting materials into lvl 80 rares. You then proceed to salvage these rares for globs of ectoplasms.

This is the most cost efficient way I have found to convert tier 5 crafting materials into ectoplasms.

You can get 26-28s (with the taxes) if you just sell the materials needed for the cheapest weapon you can make. Scepter or focus need 27 elder wood (30c each), 12 mithril(40c) and 15 of T5 material.
1 glob currently is 22s50c – 23s.

Most players do know how much each item is worth. There is items with ridiculously high fluctuation – most of fine crafting materials, especially T5, ectos, lodestones and unidentified dyes.
Depend of the item, but lvl 80 crafted rare gear is usually cheaper than the materials needed to be crafted.
Price for crafting is high, because of the expensive T5 fine materials. T5 materials is expensive, because most of them is used for crafting rare greatswords or staffs and playing for precursor on the toilet.
The crafted item itself is cheap, because of the competition from lot of droped rare gear.
For lower level items the reason is similar. Greatswords and other weapons are relatively more expensive than the gear, but still there is some items you can craft and sell with profit. The common case is that if you craft and sell T3 gear item, you will get like 5-10% more, than if you sell the raw materials, but if you buy all raw materials and craft a piece of gear – you will loose money to the TP taxes.
Here the price is high because of the limited supply for lower tiers materials. No one is farming low level zones.
The prices for this low level items are high, because most of the low lvl players are alt characters made in accounts with hundreds of gold. I have 500 gold and i will make mesmer soon. I dont care about 10 or 20 gold for gear as long as it will help me level it up faster.

When she bugs, after stealth she have 50% health. Always. No way to counter it. I dont see she was bugged in your video.

Make rare greatswords and sell them on TP or play for precursor on the toilet.

My personal “style” include salvaging precursors and vendoring exotics, but i will never write a guide about it, since it doesnt help new players get money with it.
I will give you few basic tips, as example where do you mistake:
Tip1. Hard leather strap have vendor price of 25c. It always produce 1-3 thick leathers or 1-3 hardened leathers. Last few months, the leather price on TP is the same as the vendor one. Same thing about “rawhide” gear.
Conclusion – it is profitable just to vendor hard leather straps and rawhide gear, than to salvage it or sell to the TP.
Tip2. The TP price of green greatswords lvl 74+ is significantly higher than it vendor price. After you pay the taxes you will still get 2-3s more than if you sell it to the vendor. The GS prices are always above 4s. Your rule and explanation about lowest sell price is hardly manipulated by GS buyers (actually many more items is manipulated ), so dont even consider the current price.
Conclusion: Sell the green greatswords to TP at ~4.50s. There is similar situation with few more green items.
Tip3. There is 20 types of blue weapons, DO YOUR 1000+ SALVAGES!

One last tip: Some of the kits you can buy with karma.

Beside the artificial tanking (i see it on every item last days) – the graph of ecto price is steadily going down. All this with constant supply at ~65k.
What do you think guys, how much ecto is stocked around? Last time i checked mine, i had 136.
Is it possible the stocked ecto to be panic-sold and thus significantly affect the market and push down the price even more?

Some of your advices are completely wrong.

Sell to NPC whites,blues,greens.
Salvage salvageable with a basic salvage kit.

About which kit to use … you are wrong. About what to salvage – you are 75% wrong too.
With the current prices of elder wood, mithril, silk and thick leather it is profitable to salvage some items, while it is profitable not to salvage, but sell salvage items. Once you realize which items you have to salvage, which you can sell on TP with profit, you will be able to sell the rest to the NPC with just a look. You will have to do your research and calculation by yourself as i did.

Since english is not my native language, i’m not sure what exactly means “tanking” as a verb of tank … I guess it is something like stock up or increasing supply of .
Anyway … as about ectos … it will always be the most common used material, not just in crafting, but for anything. Seem the speculation, after the announce of world events change, have passed and most of the speculators got bite the dust (or i hope so). The price dropped more than 20%. The temporary increasing of supply is probably due to releasing to the TP of speculation stocked up ectos. Soon the listings will become the same as before the patch, so will the price too.
As long as there is no bots (or almost none), the price will remain pretty stable at ~24s (with ~10% tolerance). No chance for 10-15s ectos. There was a topic in which John Smith posted that the volume of ecto market for 24h is like 130k. So … i dont think there is market manipulator wealth enough to make manipulation of such a scale.

Arah p3 first 2 bosses farmirng ~5 min, depend on your jumping skills. But it was really long ago. The time when 100 gems was 18s, pentinent event was just to spam aoe on the entrance, shelter humanoids was coming in column. Jofast, Arah entrance, Melandru and Grenth temples was perma bugged.

Age … cant check it now, probably over 1000 hrs. 3700 achievement points, while some of my friends have 5k, but no precursor neither want any. There is dungeons i have never been in. In the same time there is dungeons i’ve been more than i need – i have like 500 arah tokens in the bank (and i spent 1.5k more for the gift, daggers and equipment). I havent killed simin still, but i’m always up for path 4.
Did i mentioned i’m not using my Bifrost? It have kittening stats and knowing what it cost me i dont want to transmute it.

I made the Bifrost 3 weeks ago. It cost me like 1.5k gold. For the precursor itself i paid 300g long time ago. In the beginning i thought i will not go for legendary. 2 months later i had 3 different sets of exotic equipment – berserker with divinity runes, condition with afflicted and MF with pirate/traveler + weapons. I had 3 crafting professions maxed. 2 additional slots in the bank, all the additional bag slots unlocked for 2 characters and still had 400 gold … I found it needless, so i bought the precursor.
I have never did any market manipulations, neither i flipped items on TP. Every day before log out i crafted every rare/exotic i can and put it on TP. Never got exotic drop more expensive than 5g. I have never bought gems with cash. Most of this money i farmed while there was thousands of rangers and bears running around. The gems was so cheap that i was salvaging rares with black lion kits and everything else with mystic kits. 1 ecto was 12-13s, crystalline dust was less than silver. Still … i paid for my precursor over 2.5k ectos.
So … dont tell me precursors are overpriced. I’m sick of all this whining. Their price is FINE. As long as 1 vial of powerful blood is 30s and single ecto is 40s.

I can confirm you can make 6g/hour. But i farm with 173% MF without buffs. With the food and banners i got more than 200%. Although – got only 2 kitteni exotics for 20+ hours farming.
I cant farm more than 2 hours a day. Usually after the 1st hour i become really bored. I find it more entertainment to wipe 3-4 hours in arah with PUGs than to farm back and forward penti-shelter.

That’s really bold statement considering that warrior deals 15-20k with 100b to lupi every few seconds. Haven’t taken my warrior into fractals so can’t say much about that.

How much warriors you know who do 100b every few seconds to lupi all the fight long? I dont know the guys who solo Lupi, neither i saw anyone to melee him , except in phase 3.

You can recognize the good necro by the time he is swapping his weapons. I guess the above statement is about those who play all the time with staff and doesnt swap at all.

In any dungeon where you can find groups of more than 3 mobs, having good condition necro in your group speed up their killing significantly. You can notice it in dredge or charr fractal, if you ever reach lvl 20+.

Well, this should be his direct attack. It is easy noticeable, cause he is watching straight at you before launching it with a motion of his hand. Dodging it is easy too, as long as you have endurance. Many times i use my dodges, avoiding his circles. The only way to avoid them is to dodge or stay out of his range. If you stay out of the circles, but there is one behind you – you still get hit. They also have bigger explode range than the circle.

As a Gandarian – every evening i wait like 20 minutes to join Eternal Battlegrounds. The rest battlegrounds i enter instantly. Lot of commanders now, but few of them skilled enough. I’m still wondering, where was they the last 3 weeks, when we were shame beaten by Augury Rock and Piken Square ?

Only a WvW player goes to BLTC npc for every single transaction.
Only a WvW player wonders why the risens in Orr doesnt drop badges.
Only a WvW player think that Black Citadel is a dungeon.

Only a WvW player will not stop to the nearby ori node, following his target.

Only a WvW player think the server reset come, when his jumping puzzle resets.

Only a WvW player would wait 40 min queue for EB to join his guild team.

Only a WvW player think the only way to obtain exotic is through WvW badges.

Hard facts:
1. You still cant guest/transfer/join overflow from US to EU or vise versa.
2. You still cant play WvWvW, while guesting (same as now you cant join WWW while you are in overflow).
3. You still can play dungeons together with your REGION friends, without the need of guesting.
4. You still can change worlds once 7 days

+ You will be able to to pve with a friends on OPEN WORLD MAPS.
- World transfer is no more free …

So, i dont see anything usable here. The only “+” is for pvers, but why would you need that ? 99% of the pve content is soloable and not even fun after given numbers of runs.
Sorry … all i see from this update is “from now on, you have to pay a gem fee to transfer worlds” . I’m afraid the fee wouldn’t be something like 100 gems, but probably 800. Shame on you Anet!

He means he filp items, he post buy order at price higher than the current one and sell cheaper than the lowest sell price. If the margin is higher than the 15% fee you can make money, investing your time and risking your money (the price might drop).
This is how people make money in RL too, i dont see any parasitic behaviour. May be there should be no merchants IRL too or they have to sell at the price they bought the goods.
Probably you mean cornering the market for specific items such as precursors, lodestones or silver doubloons? I wouldnt agree too, most of the items can be made via mystic forge. The price cant go higher than the (mats X probability). I would gladly put buy orders for 1500+ rare greatswords and take my chances at the mystic toilet (500+ attempts) than pay 500+ gold for Dusk.

There was a whole topic about the misleading interface of the TP. Your math is right – you get 15% less than the listing price. 5% is non refundable listing fee and you pay 10% more if the item sells. It is a gold sink they implemented to keep the inflation low.

yes, you salvage with these and can make ‘alot’ of money so when prices of these kits drop with 30% you spend 6 silver less per salvage, now if you salvage a couple of hundred items that adds up, this is basicly a good time to stock up on these. I’ve dropped 100gold on gems just now myself.

When the gems was 20s for 100 i was using BLSK to salvage rares and mystic kits for all the rest. Now i’m using BLSK only when i’m salvaging exotics, which have upgrades more expensive than 60-70 s . For rares now i’m using master salvage kit and for all the rest i use basic kits.
Dont tell me that BLSK have better chances for ecto, i know it. The chance is not higher enough to pay the 15s difference.

I had salvaged 60 rares once with crude salvage kits, just to test – i got 34 ectos, this is 0.57 ectos per rare. With master salvage kits i got usually ~0.9 ectos per item, salvaging the same lvl 80 items.
May be i got bad luck, but i think the kit does matter. I won’t risk loosing 330 ectos ((0.9-0.57) X 1000) just to prove it.

As i said in another forum – Arah eats all the MMO dungeons i have been in.
I prefer doing p2 for 2+ hours with pug group in Arah than the daily FoTM/AC/HoTW/CoF runs. Arah is hard, but fun, and as the OP wrote – the reward is sweetest when you feel you earn it. If there wasnt so many exploits and boss farmings, wearing any piece of Arah armor would be mark of prestige and achievement.

I have been in any single fractal more than 10 times, still AC have better gold/hour rate. Just the raw gold you get from AC bosses beats even the perfect 4 fractals.
The truth is that the low lvl fractals are easy enough for pug groups which will probably not be able to complete any path of … let say CM.

Well, i remember after the official start there was no note in the TP about any taxes or fees the trader will pay, except the listing fee. I have flipped many items, actually loosing money, before i realize it. The “Projected Profit” field has been added later and i still find it little bit confusing – shouldn’t such a “projected profit” be a “clean profit”? I mean, when i sell something for 100 gold i expect to get 90 gold as the “projected profit” field states. Where does the TP mention that the 5% listing fee is not included ?
So yes, despite the fact i’m aware of the BLTC taxes and i agree with it, i’m finding the notes in the interface MISLEADING for new players.

Go to Tailoring station → start crafting something → Open the TP window, while you are crafting and try to do something, anything different than just looking. The lag is eternal. If you have to craft 1500 bolts … gratz! Go take a 15 minutes break or alt+tab the game.
I haven’t tried this with another crafting profession, but i believe it is the same.

The OP statement is incorrect, should be "20s less than the lowest selling price. Also, it should be relative value instead of raw. Undercutting by 20s considering the price of precursors or legendary is nothing.
On the items i’m usually trading with, i undercut by 1c. If i see someone undercut me very much (let say more than 10%) with a single or few items – usually i buy his listings with low or no loss. As a regular trader on this item i know the fluctuation and the worth of it. I’m trading mostly with cheap items with high fluctuation. Such a “brilliant strategies” with low cutting traders, trying to drop the prices doesnt work, while i’m online.
On the items i got as a drop i undercut more ( but almost never by more than 10%). Depend on what i’m trying to sell – what is the buy/sell margin and how much listings are on the TP. Huge margin with large supply usually means low demand – if you undercut just by 1 copper you will be undercut for sure and you even risk the price fluctuation not to peak to the same level again.

Ohh i see. I think this was the last nail in Necro coffer. Any point to take a Necro in dungeon? Can they do something (anything) better than other class?

Almost 1 week after the patch came and i still see no topic about a change took place, but not mentioned in the patch notes. Completely in Anet style …

Fear no more interrupt bosses.

Have anyone noticed ? Not long ago i was able to prevent half of the skills of the bosses with fear. Now seem the fear doesn’t affect the bosses at all 90% of the time. You can see the debuff on them, but they continue to spawn aoe, channel, hit or run directly at you. Have this been discussed somewhere?

Really lame to categorize the fractals like this and even forgot one of them. Which scale are you on? 2 ?

Just another stupid market manipulation attempt
The price will actually go down – not only of the ectos, but most of the crafting materials. The bots are back, not the same quantity ofc. They occupy different, less populated spots and still grind and flood the market.
Despite This statement more than week ago , the price of the so-called “rare” crafting materials continue to drop … I assume that the war doesnt go well for Anet. The bad news is that the common players like us will take the consequences in the form of “fix”, which will include the usual nerf next patch.
Such a flat, banal troll-posts like this or the one with the eggs or walnuts or any other clear market manipulation post deserve a ban from the forums + bugged TP ingame for a week.

I see semi-successful attempt of speculation. Few people bought like 800k walnuts at average price of 5-6 copper. The price spiked for a while, but seems they didn’t had the gold to hold it up enough to take their money back. The consumption of walnuts is not that hight. The drop is higher than the demands, which hold the price at almost the same level. It is not the same base item as the butter.
Now if there is no christmas recipes, which use walnuts or if it there is, but not worth – the price will go back at the steady 4c sell / 3c buy . Some people will loose some gold, but not more than 200-300.
There is lot of market manipulations last few days. Some are successful, like the butter and chocolate ones (i think the chocolate balloon will pop any moment). In my opinion, all the speculators did is 100-150 net gold profit, increasing of all the prices and massive gold sink due to TP taxes.

So, 1 month after this patch there is still 1mil supplies of butter and 500k of chocolate, which suddenly became very attractive to the chefs around so they decide to buy them all at once
If you look carefully at gw2spidy for the butter last month, you can see it is at equilibrium. The supply is constantly at around 1000k, which means the drop is equal to the consumption. Now few players with lot of bags space bought from the market ~800k sticks of butter (i calculated rough, it is for ~900-1000g).
There is nothing with former or future patch notes, just a simple speculation with popular product – there is no chef who can level up without butter and it is basic ingredient in many more high level recipes. I believe they will succeed with this bump, unless Anet make changes to its drop or crafting demands. There is no reason the newly dropped butter to be sell cheaper. Consumption will remain the same, the drop will remain the same, only the price will be several times higher.

I have 170ish MF on my ranger.

This is only the gear or with other MF buffs like food, boost, guild banners/upgrades etc ?

I think that roughly from the gear you can have 150% MF max :
6 slots for clothes, 6 for trinkets + 3 weapons (1 two handed for superior sigil and 2 one handed).
+45% if All 15 slots of weapons/clothes/trinkets are traveler +3% MF each
60% for 5 superior runes of noble/traveler/pirate + 1 more of different MF type
24%, for 6 upgrades with exotic opal jewels on the trinkets, 4% each
6%, for 2 upgrades with opal orbs on each 1 handed weapon equipped
15% if there is 25 stacks from superior sigil of luck on the 2 handed weapon
