EDIT: Yes, I am just missing something. You have to combine Quartz Crystals first before the option to create the Ultrahot Sphere becomes available. Still a bug as far as I’m concerned

Hopefully, I’m just missing something obvious, but…

I’m standing at the Searing Cauldron in Iron Marches with no option to combine my Wyvern’s Liquid Fire, Elemental Flames, Destroyer’s Heat, Flame Effigy Embers and Fire Imbued Heart into the Ultrahot Sphere.

Kind of annoying as I’ve been working on this like a no-lifer to hit a brick wall. I’d also like to note numerous errors in the items’ descriptions and hints, which may be what’s causing the bug.

Ultrahot Sphere
Hint: Use the Searing Cauldron near Ironhead Lake in Iron Marches to combine the Wyvern’s Liquid Fire, Elemental Flames, Destroyer’s Heat, a Flame Effigy Band, and a Fire Imbued Heart, to create the Ultra Hot Sphere.

It’s referencing to a Flame Effigy Band, which isn’t in game and I’m sure it means Flame Effigy Embers. The Ultrahot Sphere itself is the only time it is not called an Ultra Hot Sphere.

I’m hoping someone else can confirm this or if I’m just doing something wrong, or finally if I’m just the only person insane enough to be working on this Legendary.

The ability to view your guilds’ levels on other servers would have saved me, and I’m sure a few other people a lot of gold or cash.

My prior game guild started on what I now remember to be Gate of Madness. Basically most of the members left and we bounced around quite a few servers. When we get slapped with the influence grind that is guild missions, we remember that our guild was maxed out in everything on… What server was that again?

Since we couldn’t remember and there was no reliable way of telling, short of inviting and promoting someone from that server, each of us transferred at the cost of 40g (or $35) until we found the server we were looking for.

I ended up guessing first, and guessing incorrectly and now I’m stuck on the wrong server earning influence for the wrong server towards a goal that is painfully… painful.

TL;DR. Add some way to tell what level your guilds are on what servers WITHOUT having to transfer to said server.

I almost bought a new keyboard after this, right after I nearly broke this one over my knee. I don’t want to play this game in the first place, but I’m not going to leave my group stranded – so I log in for Fractals. Guess what we got on the first one? Temple! That’s right. My armor ENTIRELY broke trying to clear the way past the harpies because of this kitten jumping bug, which seems to affect larger characters more often than smaller ones.

Great job ArenaNet. I quit SWTOR because they worshiped RNG and every time they patched, they broke more. Is this the beginning of the end?

A vast majority of these bugs aren’t even remotely new, many I recall being present in the beta. The only really new ones are the fixes to the Colossus fractal and that fractal only.

Come on… You LISTED the exploits present in fractals and you don’t fix them immediately. Basically saying that it’s okay to abuse them.

Give the likely ONE person you have working on bug fixes a pat on the back though. With as many widely bugs there are, I wouldn’t even know where to begin if I were them.

Unfortunately that’s the case and point. The Legendary grind doesn’t mean anything at all. Assembling the parts was the most fun of the whole ordeal. I frequented TA for lodestones and cores while helping other people for their armor sets and gifts. I farmed and farmed and farmed some more for all the other components, a lot of it with friends. At least that was social. So now that we’re only missing the precursor, how do I go about that? Continue to farm the same stuff more for money now? That’s great, but I’m tired of it.

Your math is sound, but the method of acquisition is not. “Hey, you have a Legendary! You’re either a grinding masochist or you’re a lucky kitten.” I’m tired of it and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

To start, I think it’d be a good thing to have the discussion about this in one place. As for me, I’m close enough to buy it my precursor at its outrageous price if I wanted, but the thought of an alternate method makes the idea of dropping hundreds of gold on something not so appealing. With my luck, they’d implement it tomorrow if I bought it today.

I can’t even find the thread, which I believe was from Gaile Gray mentioning the “Scavenger Hunt” for Legendary Precursors coming soon, which would have been nice to reference here. How soon is soon? Are we talking Wintersday event or beyond? I’m sure the community would love some comments, even if it is as simple as “It is still being worked on.”

I’ve heard several awesome thoughts about how it could be implemented. Instead of another mindless and meaningless grind to feed Zommoros, give each Legendary a quest similar to your personal story.

Wait a sec, the amount of time and resources involved in that?! That could take ages! Just cut out the voice overs and epic cut scenes. I don’t think many people will miss those. Time and money saved and not too much work left other than creating a few lore-like stories which explain a little history on the weapon and how to restore it to its former glory or make it into something amazing, if it was never legendary in the first place. Heck, ask players for stories and may the best ones win.

Back on track – have the Legendary story-line come from an obscure NPC. For example, have this NPC only be available when all the Orr temples are controlled (assuming those get fixed in the same patch). That will give players an excuse to be in Orr and participate in those events. Community building!

A few more caveats to improve immersion and to prevent exploitation of it. Only one Legendary story-line can be active at once. We wouldn’t want those jerks to just complete them all simultaneously just to turn around and resell them, ignoring the story and legendariness of each item. Disable the obnoxious storyline indicators. Make players (at least the first few until someone posts guides) truly have to pay attention to the story to learn where to go next.

I’ll will close by saying – for the love of God and Kittens – don’t make create a fee to start the scavenger hunt or make it trade-able quest starting item. I’m sure the playerbase who doesn’t buy gold or win the drop lottery will appreciate that. It only feeds the bots and illegal gold sellers when that opportunity is out there for them.

Ultimately, I’d just be happy if the RNG element was removed; me and my over 6,000 Greatswords all of which are now with Zommoros.

Edit: Because I forgot to mention. Could you Confirm/Deny/Good idea! any of the thoughts suggestions, should this wall of text merit ArenaNet attention. I’m sure the community would like any bone you can give us.

As seen in the past, RNG is the filler for lack of something better. ArenaNet has admitted that releasing Ascended gear in this form was a mistake. RNG chance for Legendary precursors was a mistake thus they talk about a scavenger hunt to come.

They do it to release content to keep people playing to keep making money. It’s a kittentasticly terrible way to run business, but its working…

However when we do Arah, it’s about ~1.5g per path in around 40 mins to an hour, depending upon what path, not taking karma/tokens into account.
- Would love to know where this Arah is. All I see is bugged event chains. Also, bull. You don’t make that much per run unless you’re wearing MF gear.

I’d invite you to tag along, but it seems you’d skew those numbers pretty badly. Also, I thought exploiting Arah was the topic of this conversation… If it’s never up, kitten?

I would like to make a comment regarding the “lottery” of the Karka event.

I played it 7 times (I had 7 80s at the time). I got a Charzooka, which I equipped. Everything else was of negligible value. It wasn’t game breaking at all, with my previous comments of old and new money taken into consideration.

Okay, so lets say you’re right about this. In 3 days, when I come back on Monday, if the price of Ectos and T6 mats havent dropped yet, which is what you’re attributing all this “new money” to, then you’re wrong. Simple as that.

Also, I couldn’t give two jacks about Arah tokens. This is ANets fault. They have not made dungeons worth doing. Spending an hour and a half shouldn’t yield 40s in the Arah dungeon. It should be a hell of a lot more. Spending an hour and a half shouldn’t yield 3 blues, 2 greens in the Arah dungeon. Spending an hour and a half shouldn’t give 1.8k karma in the Arah dungeon. See what I’m getting at yet? It’s their fault that they haven’t made the rewards significant enough to make people want to play the dungeon. I can get just as much Karma and even more NEW GOLD from doing my AC paths. Explain why a level 35 dungeon is introducing more NEW GOLD than a level 80 dungeon that takes 3-4x just as long.

As for your holy grail farming spots. It’s just like if you were to tell me you were a girl playing a video game. It is still bull until you provide proof.

Sigh, so first, Ecto/T6 mats are inflating because of the new recipes for ascended gear. Have you seen those? Books/Quivers requiring Ecto and 250 T6 mat of stats of your choice. Thanks to Anet’s brilliant idea to add vertical progression, they have caused a market surge in the only piece of guaranteed infusion. On top of that, the next tier of infusion is 250e, that certainly doesn’t help Ecto prices if you have horrible RNG luck. Understand the market at little bit – first step to making profit with profit.

I don’t know what kind of group you’re running dungeons with, but I suggest you find a more reliable one if you want to make profits running Arah and I wouldn’t necessarily run it for profit. However when we do Arah, it’s about ~1.5g per path in around 40 mins to an hour, depending upon what path, not taking karma/tokens into account. You run Arah for the skin, not the cash. As numerous people have stated in this thread, it’s a game, play it. No where does it say that the goal is for money, thus dungeons should scale linearly in the same. Would it make sense? Sure. Does the fact that Arah skins are rather obscure, thus making the time an effort to run if for them worth it? Yes.

Oh and your last sentence made me laugh, considering I somehow ended up with more women than men in my gaming circle.

Dungeon rewards are account-bound, so to speak. I have noticed that it does tend to bug out when trying what you are suggesting, and instead affecting the entire party.

I’ve bug reported it several times and I’m sure it will be addressed whenever the dungeons are revamped, whenever that will be.

TLDR: You can’t get initial rewards with multiple characters within the same daily period from dungeons.

So what you’re saying is that ANet should hotfix absolutely everything that can bring in money. I was grinding 4g per hour with the Arah farm playing the game. But people playing the Trading Post can make 100g+ sitting in LA. Yup, that’s fair.

Also, name those 4-5 spots where you farm. If you don’t, people will call bull on you. Like I am right now.

How is repeatedly farming the first boss of a dungeon intended? Especially when you can reach that first boss without pulling any trash at all. Compounded by the fact that this path was heavily abused before for farming shards. Lastly, on top of all this, they actually made dungeon bosses worthwhile to defeat and immediately they’re being abused.

None of this seems like ArenaNet’s fault. That solely falls on abusive players.

To your comments, I just said that I know of several 3-5g/hr spots, which I’m sure Robert and crew are aware of. My favorite probably being one they use themselves with how obscure it is.

If you read all of my post, there’s a difference being making money and making money. Arah is introducing NEW money into the economy. Playing the trading post/selling precursors is using OLD money, that is already in the economy. NEW money hurts the economy when introduced at an alarming rate, which is what was happening with Arah P3.

Let me put it into a simple analogy since you overlooked it last time:

Arah P3 – the government printing new money at an alarming rate causing inflation. BAD.

Trading Post and lucky Precursor drops – OLD money trading hands. It was not freshly printed without backing, not causing inflation.

Robert, good on you for taking the heat and responding to this question, which you didn’t have to do at all. It is a little upsetting about how much heat and exploits go down in Arah because people can’t manage to actually play the game there; not sure if its skill or laziness issues…

This thread is absolutely hilarious and that is why I think they haven’t closed it.

I can easily think of 4-5 spots where I can farm 3-5g an hour SOLO, depending upon how well magic find is working for me and honestly, I wouldn’t want to do the farm here even for that extra bit. It’s no fun at all.

To the people who brought up the precursor farm from the Karka event, that was gold already in the economy, not NEW gold being introduced at an alarming rate, like this exploit was.

Now that this thread is all sorts of off-topic, what the heck are you trying to say William? At first you started saying that there will be only one daily reward chest, when in fact, there’s a daily reward chest for every group of 10 levels, only rewarded on even numbers. Basically, a daily reward for [2, 4, 6, 8] then for [10, 12, 14, 16, 18] and [20, 22, 24, 26, 28] etc.

For people who don’t know, your posts are highly confusing and make people like me who know, feel like the system is broken.

What I gather from you is:

There is only supposed to be one daily, regardless of tier, which would cripple people looking for groups further because no one would want to run a level 1-10 to help someone if it was their daily, when they are in the 30-40 tier.

The daily reward for each tier group is the same, regardless if it is 10 or 18, or any other tier.

The Jade Maw is supposed to be every level, regardless of odd or even, which is what I originally read when FotM was being talked about pre-release, but is certainly not the case right now.

I’d personally like clarification on all of this since you manged to garble it all up pretty well.

If you have any movement skills at all, you can kite him indefinitely with 1 person. However, this won’t be viable much longer as it seems they’re making “classic” dungeons more like FotM, which I imagine will remove the graveyard runs.

To top it off, Lupi isn’t all that difficult, it just takes a bit of practice, unlike most of the faceroll bosses in game.

What I was envisioning when they mentioned the FotM hub, was a zone in itself that connected to the dungeons (I’m thinking GW1 style) where anyone who was there was interested in doing FotM, thus making finding groups a little easier.

However, I’m totally against the match-making system. It takes the socializing out of grouping and desensitizes the members. I hate grouping with people I don’t know, but when I have to, I’d like at least a little bit of control over who I bring. When an RP name and xXxL33T4k1LLzxXx both message me about a spot, I’m typically going to bring the RPer. Match making takes that away.

You might not have been around for it, but there was a time where these prices were low (70s+ per powerful blood). The prices are where they need to be, since its where the current player (not botter) economy has them at.

If more people shared your concern, prices wouldn’t be this high. Alas, this is only a temporary problem as there will undoubtedly be another influx of bots, followed by a massive ban again. Everyone profits in that scenario.

Initially the Commander book was great at 100g. Many guild pooled resources to buy one for a (hopefully) strong leader. However, now as the game has matured, there are fewer strong leaders with blue “Look-at-me” icons and more loons.

It was previously stated by Anet that they would adjust the costs of the Commanders Compendium to deal with saturation and I’m pretty sure that time is now. Sorry for the tangent.

I really would like an option to hide that icon though, maybe /ignore Lookatme!!1 would make it go away? It would be highly useful to be able to hide them by person, rather than all or nothing.

Achievement/Title - All Classes to 80

Since all the story lines are an achievement, why not this? I was talking to a friend who thought that’s what I was working towards and we noticed there was no achievement.

I don’t even know what you could call it, but it’d be nice right? I really enjoyed the ridiculously difficult and lengthy achievements in GW1 and hope they make there way into GW2.

Hitting 80 with my 7th character (Elementalist) tonight/tomorrow, leaving just the Ranger to go.

That’s kind of why I made this post. The few people I know with Legendaries borrowed heavily from others at opportune moments (when Pre-reqs were low). I’m going to be on the positive side and assume that’s how most everyone else got their own, but realistically we know that isn’t the case.

If they were BoA, sure the people can still buy gold to buy stuff to toss in the forge, but luck and a sense of accomplishment still accompany that sucess.

So I had this thought after poking through the forums for awhile. A couple noteworthy points and why making them Account Bound would affect them.

  • Pre-reqs are too expensive and being controlled by a select few people.

The exploiters would suffer due to not being able to move their product. Patch this in a stealthy manner for the most tears.

  • Entitlement / Difficulty to Obtain

There’s a lot of people on both sides of the fence for this argument. So, making them BoA would solve both sides of this.

  • The entitlement side feels they’re too difficult to obtain and that they’re missing out due to the cost of the item and luck of other people. If they were BoA, the cost is a non-issue and it would not be as competitive because it would be solely about the amount of effort poured into the mystic forge.
  • The other point of this is that they will be more exclusive and more “legendary” feeling, short of actually having a story behind them. As it is right now, only Zommoros knows the story. This would mostly eliminate short-cutting to them by since you cannot simply buy the pre-req.

I would feel much better about the Legendary “grind” if it were this way. This is coming from someone who passed up their chance to buy their pre-req at 50g, vice 350g+, because of reasons currently unknown to me. Some of this may be jumbled and some ideas missed, but thoughts anyone?

You will quickly find going up in the ranks that dungeons are more difficult when you are closer to their level, so it will get easier regardless of your build. Secondly, it has been discovered and widely agreed upon that glass cannon builds (full power/crit/crit damage) are more of a nuisance than helpful. Sprinkle some vit/toughness in your build somewhere.

I typically run with a mix of vit/toughness trinkets and possibly running it on my weapon as well. Bottom line is, FULL damage gear generally makes you too fragile to be of any help.

Used to have issues with AC. Now the only time it bugs is after killing the last boss on Hodgins’ path, which we haven’t had it bug on us recently as long as we kill the boss in the center of the room he patrols.

I’ve had this happen to me 3 times. Since then, we’ve wiped once on the last boss every time, purposely (Get naked and pile in the lava pool). Since we have adapted that strategy, it has not happened, which has been 5-6 runs of that path.

Bad game lag lately

Can’t say I’m glad to hear this is happening to others, but I was really wondering what was going on. My wife and I have both been getting horrible lag spikes (not simultaneously) since the last patch. I’ve been running ping guildwars2.com -t on another monitor and when either of us lag to the point of disconnecting, our latency does not change in the slightest. We have FiOS (60d/25u) and there is literally nothing else going on but GW2 and we still lag out.

We’ve tried everything I can think of and the problem is definitely on our side of the client. I hope Anet chimes in here soon…

Dungeon Bugging After Last Boss is Defeated

This is the 2nd time today and probably the 5th time this week that this has happened to me and my group. We complete the dungeon, kill the last boss, but the host NPC never does the closing dialogue and we never receive the reward.

Today it happened in Ascalonian Catacombs – Hodgins path and Arah – Jotun path. Has this been addressed with a fix impending? I don’t mind the lost tokens , but I’d like it to stop happening. Thanks.

We have been watching the prices climbing on Legendary precursors and share your concerns about some of them becoming too expensive. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make any adjustments we feel are necessary.

The need to monitor this is gone – it is time for action. The select few who EXPLOITED consistent recipes for creating the precursors are the ones dominating the market and causing this extreme instability. I highly doubt it is difficult to track those people down and take corrective measures. As I see it now, a very large portion of the issues in game, such as farming and diminished returns are directly related to the escalating prices of these legendary precursors. People will farm to pay the ridiculous price and the profiteering exploiters will raise the price since it will continue to be met.

On another note… There has been so little information shared on how to obtain precursors that allows this rampant economic instability to get worse. So throw us a bone here, help us to help you:

How are precursors INTENDED to be acquired?
Is RNG (Mystic Forge/Drop) the only way to get them or is there a specific recipe (Crafting/Mystic Forge) available for precursors as well?

In all seriousness, are you and your team members changing builds/traits/utility skills? I personally change my utilities almost every pull – trash or boss – and I typically change a few traits around each boss.

With smart management and knowing your foe, the dungeons come down to an enjoyable challenge. Hit my stream up any time as its typically running anytime we do a dungeon.

I must post my plea to Anet on every one of these threads. Please don’t nerf the dungeons. I and all my friends greatly enjoy them all. Just fix the bugs preventing progress, but don’t disturb the difficulty.

I haven’t seen anywhere where karma is stated to be strictly a public event reward. Dungeons are obviously a group event if that is all you were hinting at and have many events within them that mirror existing Dynamic Events and Heart Events. I am merely asking if there is a specific reason that dungeons do not reward karma in any way.

As topic says… Has ArenaNet stated why dungeons do not give karma? I’ve looked a bit, but didn’t see any mention of it.

I mention this because zerg farming karma just makes my mind go numb. I enjoy doing dungeons and would enjoy them much more if karma was included in the reward. My thoughts would be that each boss/event in the dungeon would give karma just like real world events. With this mechanic, they could be subject to the same diminishing returns as the rest of the dungeon (100%, 50%, 25%, etc…assuming that is even working correctly)

Thoughts or source to Anet’s reasoning on this would be great! Thanks.
