If stacking is a problem it is not terribly difficult to fix. Aoe does full damage to 5 targets and 1/5 damage to 6-50 targets. Or aoe does 4/5 damage to 1-5 targets and 1/5 damage to 1-50 targets. Not a leap of genius. An arc of people spread out around the blob should beat the blob even though the blob can better focus fire. If those aren’t the numbers that beat the blob I’m sure they can be calculated.

Mesmer focus skill #4 aoe pull. Everybody should roll a GS/scepter + focus Mesmer. 1 year 9 months to equip all my characters in full ascended gear should I wish to pursue it. And now super ultra ultimate omega arrow carts without a decreased arrow cart siege cap. Over zealous forum moderators. Pointless cyclical bag farming. If I want bags I’ll go buy groceries. I probably have 100 bags in my kitchen. Hordes of people who play at 6:00am on a NA server without penalty. And now super ultra ultimate omega arrow carts. There should be handheld super ultra ultimate omega arrow carts so people can take there mowing down everything within half a mile fun everywhere they go. They already can at the cost of a dirt cheap blue print and 30 supply! The game developers need to get off the booze and start making sense or start working on a better mmo.

I don’t think either Server is up to SoR or BG level of Coverage (let alone JQ nobody else has that :P ) but both TC and DB can at least provide some level of coverage 24/7 now making for good fights no matter when you log in

Welcome DB to megazerg warfare. Have your kites ready and may your towers be lined with arrow carts. Remember, megazergs all have something in common: they are somewhere out there and every moment they exist is a moment gone by, an opportunity for you to turn them into deadweight with superior siege warfare and reinvigorate the battlefield with recon and blitz warfare. This is the opportunity to redefine T2 and remove pure attrition. Retreat is not an act of cowardice. It is the necessity which arises when a battle of attrition is an inevitable slaughter. Integrity of the battle group and the opportunity to kite the megazerg isn’t retreat, it is tactical warfare. A camp for a camp. A tower to force the megazerg to reposition in its own territory. A megazerg can’t be in two spots at once. This is your challenge to be overcome in T2. Fail and be assimilated.
Nice. Squishing your screen down in windowed mode makes your field of view much bigger. And it doesn’t look like crap in windowed mode. If I move my chair from 4 feet away from my TV to 3 it should compensate for the smaller area covered. And I can run a clock right on top of my screen and whatever else third party. It feels a lot more worldly in extra wide screen. Thanks for budget tip!

FA is like the Atlanta Braves of the 90s. We are consistent. We have a bunch of Cy Young winners. But we don`t have enough batting power(people) to win more than one world series. And we aren`t a passing fad. We are here to stay. So….
FA has hit the sweet spot. We get hoards of TC to slaughter and if DB plays like they did in T3 they will flip everything over night so we can flip it back in the afternoon for big wxp. And with all the new stuff promised for WvW we will be taking it all in without queues to get into any borderland.

Also ESO will be a cop-out like SWTOR. But maybe it will encourage a less regimented weapon system in GW2. Adaptation will probably be the next thing in MMOs. Eventually MMO veterans will be tired of lather, rinse, repeat and want to think and strategize scenarios and want tools to work out those scenarios. 5/5 weapon slot options is very restricted.
FA is taking the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. I witnessed the lousiest defense of the valley keep. It was great. There was an equally lousy offense with 3 times the numbers. I haven’t seen play like that in months when there was a day long ebb and flow between bay and garrison in a T4 match-up I think it was. So much for the prestige of T2. Maybe I’ll try and login during the good time so I get WvW rank points. The WvW score is important too but participating in a vain slaughter only feeds the aspirations of the WvW rank point seekers. You can’t take what you don’t have and if you have everything you cannot gain rank points unless you kill other players or defend objectives. The valley keep will be ours again and WvW exp will come with the package. But we as FA should not throw away free rank points for nothing. If you fear then run. If you don’t then fight. Staring at the inside of your keep wall isn’t going to make it fall over onto your enemy. I’ve tried it. It doesn’t work. Waiting inside your keep until 3v1 comes storming in then pressing 1 and dying to impossible odds is silly. Charge first and get as many good stomps in as you can. Put a tax on that fort. 10-15 body tax for every tower or fort contested. Nothing is free in the lands of Fort Aspenwood. Obviously giant groups of people that can perpetually revive its members is the name of the game. Let them revive 10-15 people. Make them use their hoard tactics insurance policy. Make them eat their hoard tactics insurance policy. Let them all die to the sword. Or the cannonball. Or the stone.

In response to the wall of text we can always try a boring ballista leapfrog turret defense. Kain seems to shut down our avenues into more interesting options in dealing with the TC mega zerg. When Anet makes it possible for players from opposing servers to party together, that leads me to the conclusion that alliances are an accepted part of WvWvW. Just the way it is.
Now, having said that, is it to everyones taste? No. I, personally, would much prefer to have all worlds just duke it out, for themselves. But, I can’t deny that alliances have/do take place. When they do, just gotta roll with it. Crying about it, isn’t going to change it.
Is there a KN/TC alliance? I honestly don’t know. I honestly don’t care. I play WvWvW for the Toast, and anyone not of the Toast, is fair game. Get some!

We conquered many servers and got out of being double teamed by an off hours server and a mega zerg server to be double teamed by an off hours server and a mega zerg server. I am out of words. “Fate. Predestination. Manifest. Manipulate.”
After playing a guardian decked out in soldiers gear I got depressed at how easy it is to play compared to ranger. Crit ranger is still my favorite build amongst my classes except for maybe boon removal condition necro.
Ebbs of epic are flowing past us through lead: forged from magma and lost souls in the depths of hell is an armor so impregnable it is only receivable in the superlative degree of comparison: the polar opposite of the defense fielded on FABL this reset.
I have mostly been sitting this one out waiting for the patch. It seems to be reflected in the current score. That and I have 2 alts to gear in exotics and not sure what to do. Soldiers guardian is definatly a go but not sure if I want carrion necro or some kind of mesmer. And the disabled(until the future) slot in the guild weaponsmith vendor, I wonder what it could be. The guild axe and shield looks nice so maybe I make axe+shield/hammer warrior. That would be redundant with guardian though. Once the patch goes live I’ll tinker with my graphics, probably set it to minimum and use 3rd person ambient lighting like in counter-strike in the second half of the match. Then I will be back next week fielding a beatdown squad to improve on last weeks results. Good luck to everybody until the long awaited and much coveted patch. And let’s hope it doesn’t make the game gravitate towards 50 man zerg storms for personal gain.
Looks like FA will finish ahead of TC in points but 30k+ behind Kain. Woopty do. TC is the worst to have a forum thread with but definitely the most fun server to play against. They seem to have a natural zergy style that doesn’t require one to rukittenerg breaker build like against BG. The horror of that match. If you break a match down into a canonical set that is overly fundamental then the game becomes a process and the artist gets imprisoned by connect the dots with straight lines.
Of course, there’s many, MANY, more variables to that, but it helps drastically when being able to treat WvWvW as ONE giant kitten map
Wow. You probed into the deepest memories of my mind. I haven’t seen one of those in a very very long time(the carmat or car placemat or whatever you call it). Whoever finishes in second will be a result of score manipulation by Kain. Getting stuck in the tier with a north american server which has a large Jerry army is always unfourtunate. That’s when you break out the devourer and tag people from 4000 range for bags in a NORAD build. Sure beats a heavy handed longbow spiky build in terms of gains. If I have learned anything from this match it is this: two armies can hit my keep at once but I’ll still run out the back door with a big sack of loot over my shoulder so nee-ner.
TC had their two top guilds in our borderland against our militia. We couldn’t hold a fortified fort or take a wooden one. Or damage a wooden one for that matter. Pretty unexciting compared to the previous three days. I don’t know what you call that. Three days of somewhat challenging first then a big hole. Still haven’t touched Kain’s rock. Although we did sink their integrity earlier in the day when we held out in EB and I saw dogs standing in the sky. How much of a lead does one need before they are confident they will win? Overall I would say this has been a victory for FA all things considered. The only way we could do better in the short term is to be mean to pugs and indoctrinate them into a strict gamestyle but I don’t think that is us. So cheers to a mute/null boycotted match.
I take it FA takes tuesdays off to run dungeons to build up a stock of gold to do WvW. TC and Kain borderlands were empty. FABL wasn’t full. EB was a hold with no push. We will probably be 30k+ behind Kain tommorow. This is like FA back when we fought IOJ and CD. I think FA still needs work on supply theory.
Uhhh. Warriors get 12.5 seconds of invulnerability if traited right. They get balanced stance. They can keep up swiftness indefinitely between their elite signet and a banner while traveling between places plus their banner has a charge to boot. Their hammer has a 2 second aoe stun. Their heal removes 2 conditions and if your really desperate for condition removal they have a signet that removes all conditions. They have the highest base armor/hp. They have two gap closers on their GS. They can block and if traited reflect projectiles with their shield. The ranger #3 GS movement skill is affected by cripple. I think the Guardians GS #3 movement skill is affected by cripple as well. They have an immobolize with with longbow #5 and bolas plus a 2 second knockdown with bulls charge and hammer #5 which they can follow up with frenzy and hundred blades. Comparing the warrior who has the highest base armor/hp to an elementist who has the lowest base armor/hp probably isn’t fair.
Does a retaliation guardian in full soldiers gear with -50% condition duration work in WvW? 30% reduction from runes and 20% from food. It worked situationally in sPvP. I dominated thieves but got killed by engies. Retaliation damage is based on power and power is primary stat on soldiers gear. Utility skills are signet of judgement and stand your ground for aoe retaliation plus one condition removal skill. I also use 4 on greatsword to make a light field then 3 to leap through it for 5 seconds of self retaliation.
I’ve never heard of spring break being in the third week of march. Are you from the Netherlands? Do you all go to Amsterdam and smoke pot and strip naked in the street? From what I’ve seen so far from the very little time I’ve played it has been the same 40 man bunch of people following a phermonal rush of next like those nature shows where they discuss a group of animals in their natural habitat coming from TC.
I have to ask Kaineng: why would you hide a mesmer in our valley keep for an eternity to port one lousy white armored necro who eventually was downed in the dead center of our keep before any walls or doors were down except for outer south door. Are you trying to flood Anets inbox with hacking accusations? And why?
Arden, compare today’s engineer and ranger, then you will see what we mean. Countless odd conditions, many supportive skills, self-booning, ways to escape, burst – we don’t have any of those. And saying if we don’t like the way it is, we can try other classes isn’t solution. It’s politely saying to ‘’go kitten ourselves’’.
Just adding few boons to traits and skills we already have and boost something (weapon sets, survivabilty) would have huge impact. And THAT would be good START.

Let me be clear. I didn’t say rangers should never see review, I’m saying let the engineers, for example, be first. Anyone who says engineers don’t have more issues isn’t paying attention.
People still play this class in abundance. Engineers? Not so much.
I want to make an engineer but my slots are full. They seem to own my retaliation guardian in sPvP better than any other class but get owned by my condition necro. I can beat them in a long fight with a one handed sword meditation guardian. That`s about all I know about them. They stack boons and do cc and condition damage and kite. Like the necro who has a good build without pets the engineer probably has a good build without turrets but the ranger has no build without pets.
The best way to balance ranger imo is to get rid of rampage as one and replace it with a different elite. Break it down amongst the utility skills to make its components more on demand. Rampage as one followed by a pet swap for 2 seconds of quickness and barrage while simultaneously sending your jaguar to target then hitting longbow 3 then popping jaguar stealth when you pet gets to target then QZ and longbow 2 is devastating but it is also very restrictive. The problem with ranger is all the long cooldown burst skills. You can throw in an active signet of the wild and Sick ‘Em for even more devastation. The long cooldown burst skills are probably what restricts a better ranger class with more on demand skills. But waiting for long cooldown burst skills to set up one complated spike is a zzzz way to play. A guardian can hit 3 then 2 on their greatsword and they are in the fray right away without some long combo to set up. If they make longbow projectiles fly faster then ranger would probably insta gib anything that doesn’t have invulnerability.
What the ranger does have is a 15 second water field. They can use GS #3 to get to the melee right away and drop one then turn around and hit GS #4 for 3 seconds of block. By the time the block is up the melee is probably condition free and healed up from blast finishers on the water field and advancing so you can turn around and shoot some more. Or even barrage to cripple a bunch of people so they get killed and seperated.
LB and GS are the only weapons I use in WvW and those are the only two weapons getting buffs <.<. I guess I can’t complain. I don’t understand the LB survivability. #4 to kick people away and #5 to aoe cripple at 1500 range is pretty good survivability. GS #2 is mostly for decoration. The bleed is mute since it only lasts 5 seconds and if you are using a gs you probably aren’t specced for conditions. Compared to a full soldiers geared retaliation guardian or a full carrion geared corrupt boon/blood is power/plague necro a ranger probably doesn’t measure up. Necro goes blood is power -> 2,3,4,5 on staff -> 2 on scepter 4 on focus -> plague form spam aoe blindness. Ranger has barrage; QZ, longbow #2, stealth jaguar; water field; protection spirit. A warrior with longbow/hammer can hit hard with #3 on longbow against rams followed up with #2. They can immobolize with #5 on longbow for 4 seconds. The longbow adrenal ability covers a huge area. Once their adrenaline is built up they can jump off the walls and use hammer adrenal ability for 2 second stun then spam hammer skills to knock people away from rams. They have 12.5 seconds of invulnerability if traited right. Mesmer needs no comment. Their phantasms go through walls and doors. Their focus #4 skill is like Morgoth’s grip.
We got focused by Kain during Jerry hours while outmanned on every map <.<. This fight seems mute. TC does the ppt thing and Kain wipes out any borderland at will. Solution? Something better than dieing alot and reupgrading everything everyday while being pinned down defending paper forts. I’ll boycott this match on account of the Jerrys.
As the krait champion on the top of that slum stack in the middle of the lake in some level 60 zone in southern playable tyria says “destroy, DESTROY!!, DEAGHSTROUWGIHEEEE!!! YEEEESSS!!!!!”. That’s my humble pile of words to start this match for the other two servers.

I feel that as a member of Fort Aspenwood to avoid a stale, stagnant, starchy iron barred progression of the reformation process we must in a businesslike manner pursue, or better yet avoid vainglory. Highlight of the match for me thus far: my xbox freezing halfway through a level of bioshock and my last save being at the enterance to the level. My desire to fight has been diminshed by the “noooooooooooooooo” moment. Hopefully this much touted march wvw patch will be reinvigorating. Get rid of the golems and up the level of the guards to 90 at 7am in the servers natural territory. Or some timeframe that takes into consideration the Americaness of servers labeled American. EB has been and probably will be painted green all week at the same time. The spirit to fight isn’t really there when one server can dominate a time gap and build a golem army with the supplies gained and play god the whole match.
