I think our performance so far is probably even surprising some of our own folks. We’ve been tiptoeing around outmanned on KBL and FABL fairly consistently and even on our own BL at times. Despite that, there’s been some great fights so far and it’s still all mostly there to play for.
I am just wondering though, with the scores looking how they are in both tiers, is Kaineng prepared for a potential appearance in T1 in a couple of weeks’ time?
They should probably do some interclass brainstorming amongst their guilds. e.g. If a ranger fires barrage into a zerg ball with lots of protection up a necro with spectral grasp should pull the ranger in near the end of their cast into the ball. Either the ranger breaks the channel and only gets 3 volleys of barrage off or they get the full 12 off and get pulled in. Everytime barrage lands the ranger can take up to 2k+ damage from retalation due to barrage still dropping. The ranger dies under the zerg ball. The ranger probably won’t get a rez.
We probably have the best match-up of all the tiers except for bg vs jq and our thread got pushed down to page two. Where are the pom-poms? A former T1, a T2, and a T3 server collide in a disturbingly close match where it seems everyone is playing for first. This is the stuff of poetry. Tommorow is manifest to the veterans. I won’t insult them with prophetic verse. So….offense, defense, or special teams?

We should be discussing Kain’s coverage and not TC. An entire page of TC is more than a stop by and say hello. I remember once in a BG/TC/FA thread TC accused me of hijacking the thread and yet here they are trespassing in another thread.
So what is everyones opinion of requiring 850 laurels and 250 ectoplasm + backslot from fractals to field 5 classes in WvW on a level playing field. Why anyone requested ascended items is beyond me. What player of WvW enjoys the thrill of farming and dailys and monthlys? Besides the fact that ascended items dilute the stats from your trait tree selection and add nothing to the game but stats…well there is nothing besides the fact. Who came up with this idea? Who cares about more stats? These stat people who are: when they do up their taxes do they get a big rush? I don’t understand. It takes what: 1 year 9 months 7 days to get 850 laurels? I just want to play WvW. This restricts my freedom to play multiple classes on a level playing field.
This is the question: What is your opinion of jumping through hoops to get gear beyond what can be crafted or obtained through dungeons or obtained through karma in order to play on a level playing field?
I think they should consider changing the rules for golems. Or get rid of golems. You could attack a gate with 3 flame rams without creating orange swords before. Same with 3 catapults hitting one wall I believe. The change protects roaming 5-20mans from creating orange swords and getting picked off by a large zerg. I watch where the commander tags are and the team chat more than I watch for orange swords. I hope this doesn’t make keeping every enemy tower and fort capped to keep up white swords up indefinitely.
Pro tip: log into EB before 4pm est and stay there. That is where the fun is.
In T2 keep ninjaing is pretty standard. If your group isn`t resilient enough to fight a zerg trying to ninja the keep you are trying to cap then you lose. Of course in T2 they buff up with combo fields then drop mass invisibility and portal near or on top of you and disentigrate you but hey that`s life. The game actually gives advantage to the person doing the ninja. Or if the zerg is greater than 20 then forget the portal and do the buffs and mass invisibility. A bunch of melee tanky builds are on top of you before you know it. All that null field and hammer stuns and offhand mace knockdown and necro elite form conditions and guardian spinning GS and 9 second invulnerable 6 second quickness 1h sword ranger spam and mind wrack and utter annihilation. Really is the downside to WvW. Whoever came up with boon stacking on combo fields and mass invisibility wasn`t terribly brilliant.
Boooooooooooorrrrrrrrrriiiiiinggggggggg. Somebody attack our borderland. Reading Psalms is more exciting than this match-up. I can’t even break my warrior in cause everybody is running away from everybody else. Fighting the ghosts of 8am EST is o.op. Get an NA crew. It’s an NA server partition. I can get 50 badges in 30 minutes in the jp. I want to fight a war. The only war I’m fighting is the que to get into eb and maybe actually get to do something fun. Just give up on every borderland except one and lets fight a war of even numbers. Come fight on ours. Yaks on one side DB on the other.
It’s been no secret that this tier 1 match has been the most toxic in recent history. While we could single out specific servers and discuss them here, it’s not the point.
The point is that there are elements from each server, who have communities that have also found the current toxic environment equally distasteful.
The best thing for those that want to avoid the poison is to not by into it. Easier said than done, especially with the nature of internet communities. Psychologists refer to a term known as ‘deindividuation’. What it is refering to is if someone is not held personally accountable for their actions, that is if you can’t interact with them directly say at work/school/socially people will not care, infact they are inclined to behave less than human, because there is not this level of accountability. What it means is that some of the poison that flows is actually funny for some people, because at the end of the day, they have nothing invested and can’t be held accountable.
That can be hard, especially for those people that have invested a lot into their guilds, communities and people they play alongside.
To get at the core of many of these issues is something beyond GW2 and ArenaNet, it’s much more fundamental to human behaviour and unfortunately the current match up has seen the worse kinds of those types of people.
For those of you that do care, about your guilds, communities and people you play along side. Keep your head up. If you find the people that are creating the poison, remove them from you circle. If there are others you see in the middle of it, don’t by into it, if anything, offer support.
I encourage people to rise above the gossip because thing about gossip is that it’s insatiable, you can never get enough.

“…going on behind the scenes…”. Well la-de-da. Every mmo I have played which has an end game had a political spectrum to go with it. It’s the unfortunate inevitability of limited resource or player cap systems. This is not a great revelation. There is no Molech in Guild Wars 2.
WvW is a hobby. Guild Wars 2 is a hobby. It is a hobby with millions of players. Some of them are half insane. Some are obsessive/compulsive. The word of one person out of many million isn’t going to change the world. If you establish a culture of fellowship I don’t see how there could be a problem unless you are losing sponsors. If a culture of fellowship itself isn’t strong enough to hold your guild together maybe you founded your guild on the wrong principles.
With that said if you are being libeled in a malicious way with rhymes or mechanisms of the sort that debase your guild to a certain degree of humiliation for its members then it is unfortunate that you attracted said attention. Servers are debased all the time. My server and every server I have played against has been debased. Most people don’t care. Some even adopt the new server name with pride in the attention they have attained. I don’t think I need to speak of the individual because WvW only shows opponent server guild tags.
If you feel a “…going on behind the scenes…” presence then think of your server as a celebrity. The more famous a server is the more tabloids it appears in.
You should use fast cast ground targeting for your staff which you can toggle in the options menu. ‘Corrupt Boon’ owns. It removes stability so you can follow up right away with ‘Spectral Grasp’ or the blowout skill from your flesh golem if you’re using one. ‘Blood is Power’ gives you many stacks of might to up your marks damage. You can get rid of the self inflicted conditions with dagger #4. Dagger #5 inflicts long aoe weakness which makes 50% of non-crit attacks glancing blows. I don’t think there is a five person limit on ‘Spectral Wall’ so you can throw that down for your zerg to run through upon entering a throne room. Protection stacks in duration so hypothetically many walls could be thrown down for long duration protction on an entre zerg. If you’re running a close range build you can throw down a flesh worm behind you and if things get dicy you can use its active ability to teleport away and get out of combat life regen.

I could but I have 4 other levels 80s to gear up with multiple sets and other things I’d rather do. If I did have a tag my group would become infamous and armies would be fielded to oppose me and the stretch of waste to become before me. The game would be remade in my image. Aside from the lame guardian that was immune to corrupt boon I have to give credit to DB for taking out our east side in eb in the early afternoon. It was pretty elementary but the FA teams fielded couldn’t think on the spot and prioritise.
This match has gotten way too bipolar timewise. 10 in the morning EST!? Are we playing against people from Afghanistan? 1 complete map wipe twice a day by two different servers spending huge amounts of gold is not good. Well not good for the people spending the gold. I fight thrift wars so…but yeah, the dreaded bipolar tier. I thought Kaineng was the only server that did that. Sucks for the major guilds of FA. I predict…giant zerg treb sniping ram war with a bum rush to cap as much as possible in the time given. Fortified walls will become obselete in the bipolar match. Door will be torn down asap and big zerg will eat little zerg because of bipolar nature of match.
I agree with the OP plus some. Other than items gained from crafting skills consumables should not be allowed in WvW if they have any effect on combat. I don’t want to wander all over tyria gathering gimmicky items independant of crafting nodes so I can use them in a clutch situation to gain an advantage over my opponent. In my opinion the bar should be set at superior blueprints. I’d prefer if there weren’t superior blueprints so you can’t throw money at a merchant and win but that’s the way it is.
So….who gets the honor of starting the new thread. Hopefully someone impartial from FA. Or better yet an impartial forum moderator. The overtones from Maguma are ridiculous.

I declare this match null and void on grounds of DB fielding classes which are imbalanced and have no counter. 20 seconds of invulnerability is too much. I’m not accusing them of hacking. I know DB would never hack. I’m accusing them of fielding classes which have no counter. 20 seconds of invulnerability and immunity to stomp is too much.

I encountered 3 on opening night map hacking into fully upgraded towers that had never been taken, no damage ever done to them. I caught them in the act and prevented a cap of one of the towers. They were reported.
I encountered 3 different players on saturday, 2 mesmer and 1 elementalist. Up to the same tricks as on opening night, but also destroying siege from under the map and inside walls. They were reported.
I encountered 4 different players today, 3 mesmer and 1 guardian. Two mesmers in the EB Jump Puzzle, which one of them stayed around for a while so I partied with some Dragonbrand players from GASM, and they helped me by reporting and trolling the hacker. Then another mesmer flying around the map above the ground and lastly that guardian in the supply camp.
I am a commander, and I have nearly 1600 hours of WvW gameplay. I understand the game mechanics very well and anyone who knows me, can easily back that statement.
But again I’m not blaming Dragonbrand as a whole. It’s unfortunate they seem to be plagued by hackers this round. I can’t understand why and I doubt anyone else would be able to answer that either. There are still LOTS of honorable and respectable players in Dragonbrand and I chat with some of them daily.
It’s a Harry Houdini video. The elemental blocked the first portal. The reflection wall was cast by another guardian in stealth. The second teleport was an intervention(Judge’s or Merciful on someone in stealth) ability followed by stealth.

The OPs intentions mean well and i agree 100% that they should be taken of immediately – but doing this exacerbates the tarnishing of an otherwise good server from, as mentioned above, dickheads who just dont care. Report them using the system in place. Send the screens/videos to Anet.
Also, where are you guys seeing these hackers, especially 10 in 2 days? I’m in WvW A LOT and have maybe seen only 2 hackers in my WvW lifetime (1 under the ground hack and 1 fly hack) since release. I’m starting to believe culling, lag, PvE items and lack of knowledge in game mechanics are bringing about a hysteria in people.
This is the first match I have seen people…stretch the rules. I don’t know if joining a party with someone from another server and then getting a portal from that person counts as cheating. I have done it once in the jp. Seems like a lot of desperation for a match that was decided between 4-5am est on the first night. I stood in wonderment at what my server did and took no part in it. Checked the walls and door to be sure. All pretty much maxed. 30 enemies inside the tower. I asked my server what the hell they were doing. Then turned my head and moved on. Well I think I actually logged out because of how full of crap that was.
On a side note I kited a bunch of people around a fully upgraded supply camp on the first day of the match in eb. The circle was up but they couldn’t cap because I was still alive. I popped both my invulnerability cooldowns and kited around buildings with ranger gs until backup arrived and wiped them. It was like something from an Albert and Costello movie. I run around the building and see them running after me going around the corner ahead of me.

I don’t think that DB player was hacking as they were using a staff. It was convenient how they caught that aoe stealth when they did and got the out of combat regen.
Why are you so mad about a video game? Who cares if we win/don’t win. Or people do irritating things. It’s all about having fun.
Personally I don’t seek e-glory by winning T2, or going to T1. It’s not important to me. I just want to log in and WvW with my guild and have a good time. We wipe, we wipe people, We take keeps, we lose them. But almost always everybodys in TS in a good mood having a good time.
it’s never been about winning, its been about outplaying the other server, i could care less if we lose by 200k because of night time crews that wreck us, but if we can’t efficiently play good during our time, it makes it quite depressing to know the only reason we win is because the people who are night crew pull 100% of our weight. I have been on 5 different servers (4 of which weren’t winning servers) (FA being the exception) and i can honestly say that those 4 other servers played better. I’m not saying FA doesn’t have skills so don’t imply that, BT has an amazing roamin group and i’ve seen them firsthanded, but that’s not what my argument is about. Why do people always imply that critique is based on want to win. I have never wanted to win, it’s always about having fun.
If our server sucks so bad why don’t you go join a 6th. I’ve played on FA since day one and I think it is a splendid server. It plays well and is fun to play. There are many roles to fill. The only thing we really lack is 50 man robot zergs. But maybe we just aren’t that professional when it comes to WvW because we aren’t getting scholarships or a living wage for playing it.
Total annihilation and we aren’t even through the weekend. Let’s see, working overtime, huge ultra massive homework load, getting up for church on sunday, I can’t think of any other excuses. Being to good or majestic to go all out until sunday night. Not caring cause you’re losing and not winning. Sitting on your friday glory and thinking that is enough even though it collapsed once our longterm plans kicked in.
This match is much more one sided than the last time we met. I wish people’s philosophy was to play for points. Otherwise why not have a ‘see who can kill the most dead stuff the fastest in Orr’ track meet. But that is the way of things. There will always be bad apples.
I think the purpose of confusion is to shut people down much like the mesmers did in GW1. Most mesmers I see run GS for aoe and occasionally switch to scepter+focus and might use the scepter’s confusion ability. The scepter only has 900 range and requires 3 seconds to channel confusion. Otherwise it’s Cry of Frustration and the clones are pretty easy to kill with aoe. So if you are a 30k hp with all boons and you manage to get shut down by a mesmer well that’s life. There are only six gods in this game and none of them are human players. You may just as likely get hit with corrupt boon and your retalation turns into 3 stacks of confusion anyways.
I’m awake and ready to roll some more Mag and DB out the door. There’s just one problem. It’s peanut butter jelly time and I’m all out of bread. And I think it snowed here too ><. Snow melts eventually though. But what is peanut better jelly without bread. Guess I’ll have to use Mag as the top slice and DB and the bottom slice to make my sandwich. Omnomnom.

The people who look into cheating are going to have a huge backlog from this match-up. Might push the patch back to April. I’m not going to accuse anybody of cheating but you have to wonder how much credibility the scores have. I’m not really comfortable with another dimension added to the game that could get me banned if I participated.
