I was hacked last night, I saw an email saying about the password reset request and went straight to Anet’s site (not click the link in email) to reset password and have also changed the password for the linked email address.
Same as O.P. I was also cleared out but Anet have been fast to respond to the matter and I’m just waiting for my account to be rolled back.
So a big thank you to customer support!
Heads up to you. Also go to your account security and get rid of all the accepted IPs just in case.
UPDATE:
I was able to get my account rolled back, and I have everything back which was lost. The Anet support team was a great help in the process. I now have 2 step authentication and a much longer password on both my e-mail and my GW2 account which is much more complex than the last. I also updated and ran AVG, Malewarebytes, and CCleaner (the free versions) to check for keyloggers and nothing was found. Should this be sufficent?

You’re talking about a separate version of the game with separate servers maintained by a different company. It’s like blaming Pizza Hut because McDonald’s gave you a Big Mac instead of chicken nuggets.
More accurately it’s like blaming a McDonald’s in the US because a McDonald’s in Asia gave you an incorrect order. But in this case one corporate entity maintains the integrity of the customers information for both locations.
While I truly believe there has not been any compromise of data at Anet, there is a valid argument for the timing of the Asian release with what appears to be an increase in compromised accounts.
And what argument for the previous increases in compromised accounts? It is nothing but coincidence. More likely to do with some other email or game site’s data breach. Or just the fact that accounts were banned in a large wave recently. Not to mention the fact that people can use a proxy or something to hide their IP address.
It just isn’t fair to blame the China release without solid facts.
Well I do have proof that mine came from China and Korea. When I was setting up my Authenticator I saw the allowed IPs list (I was recently hacked) and 3 were from China and 1 was from Korea. That’s proof enough for me.
Does anyone else find it an odd coincidence that all this is happening around the time the Asian servers were added?
Here is the information you seek:

Good luck.
Also thanks for the help. I have a ticket submitted right now.
Same to you tolunart.
Hey, my account was hacked last night. The only warning I had was an e-mail that let me know there was a log in attempt from a different area. I get on and both of my 80s have no armor and all of their weapons are gone as well as my bank goods and a lot of the stuff from my guild bank plus all of my gold. Is there a way to rollback what has hapened, and if so please tell me.
If it’s the email that I’m thinking of, someone with access to that email account has to respond and allow the log in attempt to proceed for the hacker to gain access to your game account. This means that the hacker has access to your email account and everything in it.
I know the hacked doesn’t have access to my e-mail because the mail was still marked as brand new. On my e-mail if you look at an e-mail then hit keep as new the color changes signifying that it was looked at, but just kept in the new mail folder, considering that it was the original color that means that they didn’t have access. That being said I have also changed my e-mail password.
There is usually a “mark as unread” option in email clients.
That’s what I was talking about, it changed the color of the thread from dark black to grey.

I was dueling a thief in WvW on my staff ele (i was built for siege battle at the time and was just running dolys. I held him off for about 1.5min using my static field and unstable ground plus lava font, meteor shower and burning retreat. During the entire battle I probably hit him for 30k damage, but every time he was hit and got to like half health he would stealth away and come back at full health and I would just barely dodge his backstab macro (I say macro because when he finally hit me 5 of his skills went off at once and I was insta-downed and then used mist form to jump off a cliff in my downed state just so he couldn’t use his finisher, which he tried to do using stealth). Eles need way more damage to compensate for their lack of survivability and escapes, it would only be fair.
My thoughts on free transfers is that they should have been limited to bronze servers only, instead of just a handful of bronze servers. It’s just like someone else said, who will pay to move to bronze when they can go for free to a diff. server. That being said while my server wasn’t free we did get a handful of wvw guilds which was nice, but we have no chance against the sheer numbers that the free bronze servers got.
Again your saying your awake time is more important than someone else’s.
I don’t think that’s really the complaint. I think the complaint is that 5 people’s awake time shouldn’t be worth as much as 100 people’s awake time or that 5 people’s time doing PvDoor against undefended targets shouldn’t be worth 60 people’s time prying towers and keeps from a similarly sized opposing force. No, it’s not you fault that the enemy has nobody on, but maybe it would be good for everyone to encourage SEA/Oceanic players to distribute so they fight each other instead of NPCs guarding doors.
The problem isn’t the amount of people, it’s the difference. You can have 200 WvWers and it won’t matter as much if the enemy has 250. You could have 5 and it doesn’t matter if they have 15. The problem is your server has no sea/OCX coverage, not that the other server does. You don’t see OCX/SEA players complaining about strong NA prime times.
That’s beacuse the OCX/SEA players are playing on servers that are not their own because they lack a set of servers to call their own, which sucks. I think that the EU and NA servers should be for NA and EU players and that new servers for OCX/SEA and Asian players should be put in place. It would ease congestion on the servers and allow for a much more consistent WVW experience.
I use my ele in WVW as a full zerk staff ele that can defend the hell outta a tower/keep and contribute a lot to breaking zergs with massive aoes. I don’t expect to be tanky at all, but one thing that annoys me to no end is the fact that any thief I may happen to come upon while roaming with a s/d fresh air build can 1-2 shot me without me even seeing them. Heart-seeker into Back-stab 13-20k damage = one dead ele, I have 0 chance to do anything. It’s insane that a thief can do so much more damage than an ele, the highest I have hit was about 34k when like 10 of the meteors from my MS hit one poor kitten on an AC. This game does weird stuff with the armor classes where heavier armor= higher dps, survivability, healing, everything whereas light armor= Good DPS and 0 survivability or High survivability and 0 DPS.
This is an email i recieved from Anet’s Techincal support on the issue
Dear Fuzzion.2504,
Thank you for your email. The recommended specifications to run this game smoothly are :
- A dual i7 16 core 10GHZ Nitrogen cooled Intel Haswell CPU
- 128 GB of 2333MHZ ram running on triple buffer
- 8x NVIDIA Titan cards
- A G-sync Monitor
Kind Regards,
Anet Support
Gimmie them titans.
On another note, I have a Nvidia GTX 670 4GB and it runs very well for the game. I still get crazy lag in WVW when zergs collide (like 100+ players/skills on screen) and sometimes it gets to be a slideshow when all 3 zergs meet, but other than that it runs fairly well. You can always use the zerg lag as a early warning thing so you don’t turn a corner and get demolished by an entire server. On highest settings I can get about 20-30 FPS, Auto Detect 30-60 FPs, and Best Performance 90+ FPS (it literally does so well that everything goes in slow motion, it’s crazy).
A larger AOE cap would be nice, and it is needed to discourage blobing/stacking. Plus, to use the example from the post above, if you can’t dodge the entire lava font skill that is your own fault. It has a very telegraphed aoe circle where lava literally erupts from the ground. The damage doesn’t even start for 1-2 seconds after the initial appearance of the lava. If you stand in the middle of it and let yourself get hit by all of it’s pulses you deserve all of that damage and more.
I think reset tonight… not sure though. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
I could get behind that torch idea

We may not be a free server to transfer to, but we have an amazing WVW community. FC is full of skilled players who excel at dueling and small scale combat (kinda necessary when we are almost constantly outnumbered by the other servers). If you wanna be a part of a server that has the ability to squash a much larger zerg due to individual skill then FC is the place for you! Our WVW population is always willing to help other players and we have extensive communication between all of our commanders. We are a tight-knit community looking for more players to expand our already wonderful player base. We have several good WVW guilds including LION, EDGE, vT, EMP, Krew, and more! This server is most definitely worth the lowered transfer cost. Don’t go to those free servers who will implode at season’s end, come to FC and let your fun begin!
I’m not in Krew, but I often run with their groups and I can vouch that they are a well organized group. Also, if anyone wanted to know, I’ve been with them in one of those 10-15 man groups running through a much larger one (it’s not an exaggeration). Anyway if you are interested in a good WVW guild on a good server these guys are a good choice.
There are a number of reasons as to why that would be a terrible idea, but I’ll just leave it with this.
In my opinion (being from a server that doesn’t get free transfers) all bronze should have free transfers and that’s it, if you wanna go to silver or gold you should have to pay more than if you were going to a bronze server. The transfers have broken my servers current match-up, and will break the bronze season.
I actually think that the only servers who should have free transfers are bronze tier servers. I say this because there are a few in bronze who are free transfers and there are some that aren’t. This is killing bronze for a lot of people, for example, the last reset FC (my server) was put against AR and DR. We were all excited for a good match where the numbers were even and prime times were similar, but in comes boat loads of free transfers to DR. The first day we were all within about 1-2k points of each other and the weeks WVW could go either way. The next day (I got off at about 2AM and got back on at about 3PM) DR had pulled ahead by 10,000 points due to the massive amount of oceanic transfers they got because their server is free to transfer to. Now only FC and AR are close in score, while every night DR moves ahead by about 10K more points. It’s crazy. Granted FC has gotten a few good WVW guilds due to a cheaper transfer price, BUT the oceanic players just flooded DR and have now unbalanced everything. I just think it’s a bit crazy is all.
I get it. You all like being able to do anything you want in WVW due to a huge discrepancy between WVW populations of all of the servers participating in the fight. You don’t want to go to Silver because you all won’t be able to hide behind numbers anymore but have to rely on actual skill to do as well as you all are doing now against the small WVW pop. servers.
You obviously have never WvWed in your life. NSP has NO population. You’re dumb as bricks. NSP doesn’t hide behind numbers, NSP doesn’t have numbers. You’re so ignorant it isn’t even funny. All the skill in the world is useless if you are playing zergs 5 times bigger than you. But you wouldn’t know that because you’ve never stepped foot in WvW apparently.
Yeah I didn’t see the NSP blob trying to camp the DH or FC spawns the last few nights. I also didn’t see NSP attack kitteneep while it was fully upgraded and defended by about 20 people and take it with a massive zerg of easily 60-70 people. I also didn’t see NSP zergs of 30-40 trying to take the kitteneep and getting their butts kicked by a force half their size. You’re right I don’t WVW at all, except for the all the time I spend in WVW (probably more than 3/4 of my time on the game). It’s not me who doesn’t know anything, but you. I love collecting NSP bags after their failed zergs try to fight us in an open field battle and I love watching NSP run back to their towers/keeps when trying to spawn camp FC so we get in range of your siege. NSP has the manpower to do anything they want to in Bronze; you know it, DH and kittennow it, all of Bronze knows it. Like I said, you only want to keep rolling over servers easily and not have to actually fight servers which can field as many people as you.
Once again, you’re full of kitten. Just stop because you sound pathetic. You’re losing to a server with inferior numbers to you and you can’t even admit it.
Do you ever have actual proof in any of your posts or do you just try to use personal attacks to defend your pride? Show us some sort of proof that you all are undermanned please. Take a screenshot of your forces fighting our forces and you will see just how many more people than DH and FC you have. Or just try another personal attack with no proof of your claims, but until you can prove your argument everything you say is useless.

Well right now NSP is rolling over the servers they are fighting (DH and FC) simply because the sheer number of NSP WVW players in WVW at all times of the day. NSP is able to field way more people than almost all of the servers in Bronze. So do you want an easy match in bronze rolling over all the servers except 1 or 2, or would you like to be challenged in Silver?
First of all, right now NSP is rolling over servers because servers are throwing matches to get into bronze. Second of all, since the rewards for this season are based on your servers position in your league, I’d rather be in bronze and actually win then come in last place on silver because you “wanted a challenge”. There is no challenge, there is only crushing defeat. We went through 7 weeks of this bullkitten last season. We got lucky and came in second place twice and 3rd place 5 times. The only reason we came in 2nd twice was because IoJ(I think it was IoJ, I know whoever it was we came in 2nd both times playing them) happens to be just slightly worse off than we are and even that was very close. So yes, I’d rather roll over bronze for 9 weeks then be completely outnumbered and outclassed for 9 weeks of humiliating defeat.
As someone who plays on FC I can guarantee you FC isn’t throwing their matches, instead we are fighting outside of our keep because NSP keeps trying to spawn camp us after their zerg that outnumbers us 4-1 rolls over the entire map.

This is the build I have based my roaming build off of. Mine is slightly different to my own liking.
Its does pretty well, almost worthless in zerg running though.
Yeah, I use my ele for all my zerging needs!
Hey guys, Iv’e been roaming in WVW on my lv80 Ranger recently and really enjoy it. I have been able to handle most 1v1 fights and a handful of 2v1s. I feel that my build is lacking something though, and I think that the problem is that I have too much focused on Zerker stats. Is there a good WVW roaming build that has good survivability and can put out decent damage. I normally run with the Lynx and either the Wolf, Drakehound, or Hyena and I use the LB and a 1h/war-horn. I’m thinking of switching to a 1h/axe and 1/dagger.
Suggestions?
I have the Imperial edition pre-ordered and am willing to give it some of my attention for the free month, if it fails to hold my attention back to GW2 full time and laughing at my friends paying a sub fee.
Please, this is your daily routine.
Mine was losing 4 fully upgraded keeps to 40+ man zergs when we had only 15 people to defend. Maybe you should try to play on not a blob server.
That is another problem altogether. Your problem is caused by the discrepancy of numbers. Maybe you should try not to complain when you’re playing in a small server that can’t pull out numbers.
The AC is the only way for an out-manned server to even hope to defend it’s towers and keeps from a zerg which only relies on numbers to get the job done. We get rid of that, or if we nerf it, this game will then favor larger servers even more that it already does.
You get more dragonite if you don’t defend your keep and still siege monkeys sit in walls and throw kitten.
You may not get mats, but you defend points which end up benefiting your server.
Arrow Carts are probably the only tool that allows you to overcome superior numbers.
Without Arrow Carts you might as well log out when the zerg comes knocking.
It’s rare enough to see people defending as is, it would be shameful to reduce their chances even further.
Essentially 1 sup. AC is > or = at least 5 players.
If you are in a low pop server (for wvw) like me then ACs will literally save your life numerous times. They are the most vital piece of siege for undermanned servers due to cheap cost and high effectiveness.
I personally love siege warfare. I love standing on top of the walls and sending meteor showers on the hapless attackers, or going into mist form to get back into the keep after I get pulled from the wall. While attacking I love being able to help my zerg by utilizing water fields to keep them up and clearing the walls of enemies with various AoE spells.
Any AC trouble counter it with catas or trebs, not that hard.
FC has some very good roamers and duelists. There are a few guilds dedicated to this type of WVW play.
E Bay- Okay we have this keep now what do we do? server (Needs momentum)
Ferg’s Crossing- I’ll 5 man your 15 man zerg buddy…. bring it. server (Duelists)
Sorrow’s Furnace- You may have won this fight but we’ll come back with even more people this time. server (Needs an overwhelming number of people to fight even small groups)
FA- The fly you fools. server (ENEMIES! Back to the tower boys!)
JQ- The orderly retreat. server (Skirmishers)
This is just my personal experience with each of these servers. FC is my home server.

I think that might be fun, and possibly give the ranger a way to apply the CC/AOE which rangers lack. I can see like a scaled down version of entanglement as an aoe, vine snares, and other stuff like that, possibly some heals or an earth wall like the ele 4 staff earth skill.
It has damaged it for my server, FC isn’t a T1 server, it is far from it. All of our people are flocking to EotM and completely forsaking all of our WvW areas. WE DON’T EVEN HAVE OUR KEEP IN OUR BORDERLANDS OR EB…. it’s a pain, especially when you do so much to cap all the areas you can with a zerg and getting off only to get back on and see that everything is gone.
What if… just bear with me…. there was a total revamp of Rangers? Something like ditching the pet completely and making the Ranger more of a “super-archer” class. Make them pack a big ranged punch with the SB or LB and give them dagger-dagger in addition to their current skill set (possibly take axe-axe). The dagger-dagger skill set could provide stealth/blink abilities as well as a burst damage or trap ability. We could keep some of the LB skills like the 2 and 5 and rework the others into more aoe type attacks which will increase our viability in the game. For the SB there can be things like a stealth, cripple, poison, or fire arrow which we could use for the AA (like the ele f1-f4) which would proc every 4-kittens. Just a thought, opinions?

What I love to do with the 1H sword is jump into a crowd of 3 enemies in WvW and literally jump between them (jump to one stabby stabby, use the 2nd attack in the chain to then jump to the other, etc.) It’s run watching them try to land AoEs and other skills when you are jumping around like a crazy man (or in my case Norn). Learn the strengths of the sword and then work around the perceived weaknesses. The end result is always fun.
If you hit esc. while in the chain it overrides the chain and stops the combo allowing you to dodge.
Yeah I love that 1h sword is taller than most people, my war horn is as big as the tallest Asura, and my short bow is literally taller than all other races….
8/10 on the top one…. I like it but it doesn’t seem complete.
9/10 on the bottom simply because he looks awesome with that aura.
The Origins of Madness content was released only just one week ago, on January 21.
For normal people, who have lives and for whom video games are a casual distraction for weekends, this past Saturday and Sunday would have been the first time many people even logged in to the game to learn of the Marionette or Wurm battles.
So normal people can’t read a boss description, the map chat, or a wiki??? That’s actually quite worrisome. How do they complete their aforementioned jobs or do anything productive in these “normal” lives without a basic skill required to function in society today?
Also doesn’t help that you have rangers who are clueless on putting their pets to passive.
This is purely semantics that is annoying me, but pets should NOT be on passive. They need to be recalled for the few seconds it takes to run over a mine, then target reset on the warden. Especially since you’re probably using a jungle stalker or snow leopard.
Everyone in map chat shouts “rangers don’t use your pets!” and then I have to explain to a bunch of now confused rangers that you absolutely should use your pets, just appropriately.
I have a level 80 ranger and I just use the ranged spiders for this fight that way you don’t have to hear people complaining about the pets and you have a reliable source of damage. For my other pet I either use the Red Moa for the fury (along with the fury I give from the war horn 5) or the Lynx for the pure DPS potential.
I just don’t understand why Warden II is so difficult for some people to beat. It is a fairly simple mechanic, run him over his mines when he is spinning, but people just can’t seem to get it down. Before anyone says that some people don’t know what to do yet I don’t accept that as an answer for any of the Wardens, and this is why. Not only are the instructions on how to defeat the Wardens written under their health bars you also have resources like the wiki to get the info you need, and if all of that somehow goes over your head you have about 15 different people telling you how to beat the boss in /map chat. Maybe it’s the server I’m on, maybe people are really just that inept at some things, maybe it really is that hard I just get lucky every time I run the boss and beat it, or maybe people just don’t care. Someone please tell me why simple concepts are beyond some people who attend this event and why we have to fail because of their ignorance on the boss fight. I’m honestly stumped.
Volrath of the Mist
I was looking to find a name where I could avoid using a surname altogether and get the feel of a legend. There is also not that many players which use the prepositions such as “of the” or “the” in their name, so it feels unique as well. As for the first name, its actually not my imagination, Volrath was a baddie related to the card game magic the gathering. Pretty happy with this one.
