Don’t do it! Run for your life!! Get out while you still can!!!
It’s too late…for me. But you can still save yourself!
Been playing a siphoning build since launch and nothing else (4,000+ hours put into a blood necro). It can work – barely – if you don’t mind having to constantly play to your best every second of combat while burdened with poorly designed attrition, life stealing, and sustain mechanics. Think of it as GW2 Hard Mode. There are certainly easier and less frustrating builds available.
Since you, kind Sir, have admitted that you’ve been playing siphoning since launch, riddle me this: What has noticeably changed in the Blood Magic traits, say, in the past two years? I ask this, because I recently came back on after a long hiatus, thinking I’d go run amok for a while, when I noticed that all my points were refunded, so I assume a lot changed for necros in the interim.
This was the build I had at the time, taking into account whatever the stats used to be for each trait (I was heavy into WvW but not really into sPvP):
http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds/1629-schmoopies-pvp-necro
I had hella fun with that build (I’d often tuck myself under enemy keep walls and just drain everyone on the walls above me) – not sure what exactly was so Hard Mode about it (maybe I am just old, maybe I played too many grindy Korean MMO’s) but I did sample a lot of builds before this, and this was what felt natural for me:

So I humbly ask you: Do I stick with the Devil I Know (and love), or do I try something else, because they really tinkered way too much with Blood Magic since I last played?

I came on because I hadn’t been on in well over a year, and then I noticed all my traits were refunded and thought, “Oh, crap! My WvW Pain-In-The-kitten Necro build went kaput!” I went back to look at the old build I posted way back:
http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds/1629-schmoopies-pvp-necro
Which I am sure got completely nerfed to death since. This build eldenbri posted here looks relatively close to what I am aiming at (don’t think I’ll get my “Jason Voorhees” necro back, but that’s OK). I will still have to pour through the updated skills and traits, see what I am looking for. LOL will have to relearn everything all over… Memories of way back when… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYRE1wWXW9Y
EDIT: I did find this, and it has great overall ratings:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Condition_Roamer
I noticed that a lot of builds are now completely ignoring the Blood Magic line. I can’t find a comparison of what the old specs (2012) were and it’s been too long, so what changed?

WvW seems so stagnant. I have a hard time being motivated enough to log into it – even my attention span while I am in it is waning… Are they planning to add/refine areas or other mini-events? Zzzzz…
At least they did away with the free transfers. No more mutiny from people in the guild.

We have moved to Sanctum of Rall. The OP has been edited to reflect this change.
Have a safe and prosperous new year!

I think what really counts when it comes to merging servers is figuring the overall standard deviations for the server loads over time (regardless of PvE, sPvP, or WvW activity). This should be most telling regarding what servers are actually low enough in population that it interferes often enough with the social environments and dynamics necessary for successful group-event, dungeon, sPvP and WvW activities. Unless they begin selling items and boosts in Black Lion Trading that would somehow mitigate this “interference” (Instant Group in a Bottle!).
Suddenly, those silly Guild Wars NPC “pugs” are coming back to memory…
Necromancer
I think a really good thing to do before merging servers is to do away with free transfers so people stop ping-ponging all over the place: Even the one-week cooldown isn’t enough to dissuade shard farmers from moving about every week. We can’t really have a good idea on what really needs merging until the populations counts are consistent.
Yes, we still really need to do something, because my guild members are already complaining about wanting to change servers since the population seems so low during the holidays. I don’t want to transfer servers again, I already did this for a guild once before. I’d like us to keep our influence perks. I don’t know how long I will be able to keep the guild on this server, they want an answer soon about where we should move.
I’m tired of bailing home worlds. I don’t like it, and I don’t like how easy it is for people to choose that as the immediate, easy answer when it’s obviously not the best longterm solution.

Many of us have been spending holiday time with family, but our guild is still active, in-game!

WvW legendary part isn’t that much of a trouble. Much more annoying part is to not be able to buy the obsidian shards for karma since the only vendor resides in the almost always bugged Temple of Balthazar.
So you’re stuck with lurking the forums for a server where it might work and try to server hop around every 7 days.
I just found out from two of my guildmembers that they will indeed be looking to transfer servers for the 7 days in order to get these obsidian shards. Despite protests I can’t stop them – they want to make their Legendary weapons. So now my guild loses them for a week for WvW. This item requirement seems so broken to me. It means there is an area population bias in order to obtain an item.
Between this and the ongoing issues with the lack of enforcement about skill-hacking, I am not buying another thing from BLT until I see some evidence of progress in at least both these areas.

XcomCaveRat’s fix worked for me today, also.
For the record, this issue never came up until today, and no, the game files are not within a temporary folder. The only recent changes to anything on my PC were the most recent patches to the game itself and a DirectX update. The game launcher window did come up briefly at first, then sent a report to ArenaNet upon crashing, and thereafter the “not a valid Win32” error window kept popping up. That copy/paste fix worked.

Our guild changed home worlds a few weeks ago. I wish to remove “Dragonbrand” from the title of this thread:
Or, if this isn’t possible, it is also acceptable to delete/close the thread and inform me of this so I may post an accurately-titled guild thread?
Thanks in advance for your help!

My guild is in the process of changing our home world (moved from Dragonbrand to Crystal Desert):
1) Do we have to build up influence again to get a new guild bank on the new server in order to access our guild bank, if we can at all? Should we simply liquidate everything in the bank and start the guild bank over?
2) What happens to all of our guild influence once we are all transferred over? Does it simply stay on the old server forever?
3) Do we need to kick any residual inactive members before completely vacating the old home world (can re-invite them later)?
Let me know what else I may be overlooking, please.

Any news on the outright missing guild where we have needed to recreate and start from scratch, after using tons of influence and research time?
We’ll look up your guild specifically and make sure that it still exists (even if you can’t get access to it at the moment).
Played all day, checked the guild tab at various points, and still no guild. I still wonder why our one member could still see us all on the roster and check the guild bank (obviously the rest of us couldn’t), but the guild name was somehow changed?

Think you must be massively over-exaggerating things as the result of 1-2 frustrations…I’m at 75% world completion and so far I’ve only encountered one bug that prevented me from completing a piece of content (Mad Mardine’s Catapult to the vista in Moorwatch Tower in Diessa Plateau).
If you’re running into bugs preventing content, please describe each of them, individually, in detail along with methods for reproducing the bugs.
here are the bugs I’ve run into TODAY (not over the week, IN ONE DAY) on Blacktide:
Fields of Ruin:
Heart quest in ebonhawke mine: Lazy miners cannot be motivated
Royal messenger refuses to move
steal antidote quest only allows a maximum of 11 antidotes per person, none respawn
the sentinels refuse to break the crystal containing the boss in lake tenebron
the bonfire progress bar to signal to a branded griffon is stuck at 99%
quest to rescue sylvari and dogs from ogre camp in SE, sylvari refuses to moveBlazeridge Steppes:
World event: assault on beheim kraal chieftan doesn’t spawn making quest impossible
gather lodestones for brew quest has elementals spawning in midair
escort ogres carrying water quest, ogres refuse to move
waypoint north east of lowland burns waypoint is constantly contested, but no events are occuring thereIron Marches:
Heart quest where you help warhounds: dogs bark at nothing, seperatists do not spawn, hidden caches do not spawn (workaround: hitting certain trees enough with a melee weapon eg: a msemer using a 1H sword, will kill one seperatist, and knock the other out of the tree to be killed)
Heart quest to save loggers souls from shadow fiends: ghost spiders do not spawn, all loggers are dead and do not respawn, shadow fiends do not spawn
save cubs from the necromancer event, necromancer doesn’t leave house and is invulnerable
escort veterans against seperatist hideout, veterans refuse to move
flame legion boss in ruins on SW of map refuses to spawn
world event to protect siege devourer devourer not spawned, escort refuses to leave campMOST of these are chained quests, so because of these being bugged, it also affects countless other quests that are waiting for these to end (eg, the escort the veterans quest cycles between itself and seperatists invading the village).
ArenaNet: would it be too hard to put in some code that automatically fails a quest if it isn’t completed within, say, two hours? that way, people who took part recieve a reward, and the quests will reset themselves.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. This is exactly what I was talking about, and I sense it is a systemic issue since it was unusual in its ubiquity, in several different zones, otherwise I would have presented an itemized list on all 100 or so bugs (no, Errant Venture, I am not exaggerating) I ran into today.
I don’t believe I need to do this again here, as I am fairly certain from conversations with other players and map chat that ANet has received a multitude of reports on all of these several times over, and in the interest of brevity I didn’t go into detail on these in the forums (my husband works in IT support; we do understand the system for filing bug issues).
Here, I am more interested in the holistic state of the game (what was implemented that might cause something like this?) than the micromanagement of individual bugs.
I was at about 50% completion Monday, then all through Tuesday I kept hitting these quest glitches all over the place in several areas, particularly in Iron Marches.

I’d like to hire an exterminator, because today Guild Wars 2 is infested with bugs. I cannot even begin to outline all of them, because it is easily 25% – 75% (depending upon the zone) of the heart and event quests I have encountered today, including several skill point challenges. At least Shatterer was working.
That, coupled with the lack of guild (addressed in a separate thread) have made today a severe lowpoint in my GW2 gameplay history. What are the issues?

Same issue, although one member of our guild (Tommy Danger) is able to see the guild roster and bank contents as normal, although our guild name has inexplicably changed from “Blacklisted” to “Bane”? We’ve had a functioning guild since prelaunch headstart up until this morning.
