I hadn’t actually noticed that the mobs the lying weasels nerfed didn’t contribute stacks, although I only have the sigils on a couple characters.

They said gen 2 legendaries would be considered HoT and wouldn’t require expac 2, although that does not exclude the likelihood of requiring mats specific to any new zones that the legendary comes with.

Because, as far as I know, all the other nodes can be shared, including the basic nodes that are also sold on the gem store.

Because this one doesn’t have to be harvested every day, from what people are saying you go in once, set a mat, and it simply mails you that once a day until you change it.

If it could be shared you’d only have to get into an instance with one when you wanted to change the mats which is far easier than getting into someone else’s instance every single day (plus think about people with multiple alt accounts)

The whole point is so that you don’t have to do every single mastery point to still unlock the masteries.
We got some extra, so what, not every single thing in the game needs a sink.

For every person who has points they can’t spend there’s probably a dozen of us struggling to get enough points to unlock all the masteries who really appreciate not having to Gold every so called Adventure to unlock Ley gliding or all the absolutely worthless tiers of Exalted to get Exalted Gathering which is also absolutely worthless beyond a single gathering strike to get all the Elite spec weapon collection items.
(See? there’s actually already a big MP sink right there)

4000+ hours and not a single ascended armor drop, the whole “lawl it rains ascended for me” thing doesn’t actually help anyone, as it doesn’t work that way for all of us.

Would be nice if you slotted them into a drop down instead of having to actually keep them all in your inventory, but anything is an improvement.

Agreed, and we even have the junk item class already, no reason for trash to be ascended quality.

I didn’t played GW1 (I tried a few hours, but didn’t liked it enough to continue), so I must ask:
What were the defining features of Ritualists, Dervishes and Paragons people seems to miss so much?

Rits had Spirits, ashes of various historical people as bundles you carried for various effects. Was pretty unique

Paragons used spears on land (something some people really want to come back)

Dervishes used scythes (again something people really want to see come back as its own weapon class and not just a crappy staff skin)

I could see them brought back as elites like Pax said way before I’d see them bringing them back as entirely separate classes for many many reasons. (I’d imagine ranger maybe rev would get rit, guardian would get paragon, and necro would get dervish because scythes, or possibly thief because medium class? or ranger if rev took Ritualist? no one else really fits)

I keep holding out hope we’ll eventually just get some new weapon types, but unless they give every new weapon to all classes inevitably it’ll be a storm of why didn’t X class get Y weapon?! (the down side of waiting so long to add any new ones in the first place)

They actually said way back that stuff like Charr clipping/visual issues wouldn’t be addressed because Charr were the least played class and therefor not worth their time (unless that philosophy has changed since).

I see that as making it very unlikely they’ll add a whole new race, which would have to have every armor in the game adjusted to fit or redesigned, plus every outfit.
Regardless of the animations and voice actors and etc etc, this is already more work than they’re willing put in.

The way I see it, I try to have my stuff feel like it meshes well aesthetically, and the glider is the only one (to me) that feels like goes with the Outfit well.

I presume the purpose of ddosing someone is to enjoy annoying as many people as possible.

A DDOS attack costs money. It’s supposed to hurt the organisation, not the people who visit thew website or log into a game. Even if the person/group that owns the botnet executes the attack, it takes resources they cannot otherwise use or sell.

Since it costs the attackers money and if they aren’t getting a financial return, such as a payoff by the company to leave them alone then the purpose is to annoy and cause trouble.

I would guess that they bear some grudge against ArenaNet or their parent or affiliated companies over some real or imagined hurt (which could literally be anything) that makes them feel justified in harming them financially and inconveniencing their customers.

It could simply be people revelling in a kind of power fantasy some kind of “haha, look at the harm I can do with these downloaded programs! That’ll teach them to change the cooldown on the Bear pet’s Bottom Burp ability from 8 to 9 seconds when it’s clearly going to destroy the entire game!” thing.

First thing to note is that (unless there’s an anet specific DDoS I’m not aware of) this DDoS isn’t being directed at Arenanet, it’s aimed at the service provider Level3, which means it’s impacting a lot more than just us, we’re most likely small fry caught in the crossfire.

It’s hard to tell the motives behind stuff like this when whoever is responsible doesn’t make demands.
Could be someone(s) upset about the FCC trying to sell out net neutrality.
Could be people on the other side trying to make giving them more control over the net look like a good option.
Or could just as easily be someone on a power trip, although since time/processing power = money it costs both the attacker and the victim so one would think it wouldn’t be wasted on just ego stroking.

It can be more than an annoyance though, companies have been put out of business this way.

I have several character ideas I want to make when the slots go oon discount again so I can pick up a couple and I’d love to have enough to level them all (I don’t currently)

I do feel that for people who don’t need them they should provide slightly more utility, like 3 spirit shards instead of 1 (especially now that we don’t earn spirit shards on level up anymore)

But I don’t want to see less of them, sorry

You still receive the Daily Log-in Chest, and when accepted the window for Dailies appears, whether you are capped or not. You also receive the notice of 10 AP when finishing 3 Dailies, even though you don’t actually receive the 10 AP.

Thus, in your case, prepare to be annoyed.

It can be avoided though, if you don’t open the daily login chests they build up like other reward chests and once you have more than I think 4 it simply dumps the contents of one into your inventory when you log into a character, no pop up window.
Assuming you don’t find unopened reward chests more annoying.

I picked up a couple inexpensive copies of HoT to create a couple Alt accounts for various things and I was wondering how you all handle the e-mail side of things?

Do you have to create a whole e-mail account for each Alt account or does Anets system handle the Address+ system? (Where address+alt1@gmail.com and address+alt2@gmail.com would go to the same mailbox but be considered “different” for login purposes, letting you base multiple accounts off one core e-mail address)

Figured I’d see if there was some wizardry I might be missing before just creating gmail accounts.

If you open your world map and zoom out a little bit, then move the curser over the heart counter in the upper left corner, it should flash a halo around one of the eyeglass “scouts” you can talk to to reveal the heart you need.

It is guaranteed and given in alphabetical order by prioritize the item for the current class. It is also once per day per account from each mushroom.

Ah! Once daily, it must have considered the reward given then, as it only finally worked after reset.

Just did this the other night, took almost two hours to find a map on which the event started, basically had to get a party and try to get on as many maps as we could.

I do think it’s bugged though, it wasn’t starting nearly as often as it was supposed to.
(I was on the same map for those two hours, staring at Zolin, was beginning to feel like this achievement had wasted my entire evening of play time.)

Update, killing it again finally worked, fourth times the charm I guess.

Am I erroneously assuming you always get the collection item?
This was character 4 or 5 most of which got credit their first times killing the very same mushroom.
Was afraid that since I got disconnected while fighting it the game may have considered the reward already given even though I never received it, essentially leaving me permanently blocked from completing the scrapper hammer (without buying a new slot and making a whole new engi)

Yes, the one I’m referring to is in Auric Basin, south of Eastwatch, I think it’s in Weeping Glade? Where all the Bristlebacks are.

After the usual travesty of a “patch” earlier and subsequent hotfix I am no longer getting collection credit for the treasure mushroom towards the specialization collections.

I’ve killed it twice on my Engi since the patch and nothing happens, I get the gold medal for participation but no chest with my collection item.

Anyone else seeing this?

They moved it here to sweep the issue under the rug, not to address it or consider it.

Personally, I feel auras are lame, they do nothing but obscure what my character looks like, make it harder then it already is to see the details of the look I created.

I don’t want to be a glowing mass or a blob of black pixels, neither is awesome, IMO.

Some of the lower tiers of new lodestones, like mordrem slivers are consumable, and when consumed upconvert to the next tier.

I would guess that the lodestone is not supposed to have that feature and you may have just eaten 4g.
Could it have dumped it to mat storage when you “consumed” it?
Do they even have a slot?

Guild missions are a shambling mess, it’s getting harder and harder to get people to show up to even try.

And lots of guilds have got the skritt defense challenge that’s totally broken at least 2 weeks in a row. Was challenge one of the ones that gets rolled the same for all guilds each week?

So far most stuff cycles through periodically, so I’m sure it’ll be back, we just don’t know when for sure.

Well, the weird thing is, there was a glitch not that long ago that “leaked” new hairstyles.
If you used a makeover kit within a fairly small window you could select and apply but not preview some new hairstyles.

Kits were disabled for a bit as they fixed this. No word on those new hairstyles actually being released though, many of us assumed they’d come with HoT.

It could be reasonably argued that taxi’s are an “access portal” not a group formation.
As most specifically say join and leave these days.
Access portals, such as advertising forming groups to farm home instances are explicitly prohibited per Gaile’s LFG sticky thread.
So it’s actually not far fetched to argue that taxi’s break the rules. (even if its silly, but then most reasonable people would say its silly to prohibit using it to form groups to farm home instances, so there’s that)

The real problem is all the people using Open World as a catch all either because there’s no sub section that fits what they want to do or they’re too lazy.
Or they’re advertising guilds, or selling stuff.
People buying and selling or guild recruiting should be reported and infracted no question.
Then we need sub sections revisited and organised, and then we can start infracting people who are still using Open World as a catchall.

Yeah salvaging for runes and a bit of karma seems a good option, it would be similar to wvw armor giving runes and a few badges.

Would be convenient, sure.
But it’s not a stack of 25, it’s a single item with 25 charges. So it doesn’t really make sense, mechanically speaking.

Add to that mystic kits, which use forge stones (technically a gem store item), being able to just buy ten master kits to get the same convenience would render mystic kits pointless.

That kind of convenience would also probably cut into the value of the salvage-o-matics.

Only thing I can offer is to suggest waiting until bag slots go on sale, possibly in January, they can go for 200-320 depending on sale, so its possible you could get those 3 slots for only 600 gems.

Still sucks having to unlock them for each new toon, I agree, but its what we’re stuck with.

Seriously. I think I report 15+ people a day for LFG abuse in various ways.

They swapped 2 of the 4 charges for shards of glory a few patches ago.

Why don’t you try teaching those people in game, instead of posting on a forum most of them probably don’t read?

Their favorite tactic, used all over the game, it was all they did to try to make dungeons harder, and its all they’ve done to make raids harder, tons of hp and enrage timers.
So mechanic, much wow.

That particular fight in the canopy is one of a handful they don’t actually use it in.
