appease a few people compared to the game population

Sorry, but this is BS.

Casuals hardly ever go to forums. They refund and walk away.

Forum goers are a minority, a much more invested and vocal minority.
And judging by the length and number of threads saying this was a problem I’d say that pretty clearly indicates the large majority of forum goers felt that, well, this was a problem.

Which makes you the very small minority of a very small minority.
And by your own logic, they should not do things to appease you.

See how that works?

250 HP For Elites [Feedback][Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ScribeTheMad.7614

ScribeTheMad.7614

One of the biggest problems ArenaNet has, is they use known terms from gaming without considering the implications.

They called it Elite, and wanted people to grind for it.
Elitists see the term “elite” and latch onto it “Oh Em Gee guyz it’s an elite spek onee 5 peecent of popuulation shud eevr be able to urn it!!!!11!oneone”

You think I’m exaggerating, or just mocking people.
I’m not.
I’ve had several people straight up tell me that most players should never be able to unlock it because “it’s an elite spec”

It’s just a word, used to describe a new traitline and weapon unlock.
And somehow being able to zerg enough hero points makes it special?
No, not really, just really time consuming

They used the term (imo) more to be able to justify limiting you to only one of the new spec lines for balance reasons (yay esports) than any sense of it truly being “elite”.

Because if it were truly elite it would need to be more powerful, and if more power is directly gated behind the expack then the expack is pay to win.
(because buying it gives you a numerical advantage over someone who has not)

People need to take a step back and stop applying other games definitions of terms to every other game that uses it.
Why aren’t elite specs only for the elite players
Why aren’t rares rare
Why aren’t exotics exotic
etc

So? What’s with the “I have more currency than I can spend this instant I need a sink!!1”
There’ll be more elite specs, and I imagine the “leftover” HP will be factored into that process somewhere and we’ll be back to complaining we don’t have enough.

Giant Eye and new map bonuses

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ScribeTheMad.7614

Here’s the thing to remember.

That interface does not properly indicate the sequence of rewards. All it tells you is what’s next. How they sit in the other rewards section is irrelevant.

For example I chased charged lodestones in Straits of Devastation for quite some time and my rewards went something like
Vicious Claw
Vicious Claw
Incandescent Dust
Vicious Claw
Vicious Claw
Charged Core
Vicious Claw
Vicious Claw
Incandescent Dust
Vicious Claw
Vicious Claw
Charged Lodestone.

And writing that out feels too short (maybe because that doesn’t show that each one was two events?), so that might be inaccurate by missing a few more of the T5 dust and possibly a second core. But I stopped at the first lodestone because it took ages and I was simply done with grinding events there.
For the super pricey ones like eyes now is probably a good time to farm them, but I dunno about some of the others.

Ah, I see after flaming my comment on the other thread (which had had it’s name changed after I commented)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Can-t-complete-spoiler-Fight-Bugged/5670543

you felt the need to whine about it further.

Some people like to keep up with whats going on in the community/bug fixes/etc and would like to do so without having the end of the story thrown at them from every other thread title.
And that is not an unreasonable request.

People are perfectly free to discuss/report issues with things like end boss encounters without spoiling all the gory details of the story.
All we ask is you use a generic thread title labeled as a spoiler.
I believe the title of the original thread was
SPOILER...Can't complete Mordy Fight. Bugged!

This is a spoiler. and people posting such spoilers this close to launch should be given a posting ban of a week. Repeat offenders should have in game bans of similar time frames (imo)

Hilariously enough you’re example of Snape kills Dumbledore being a spoiler worth complaining about, when that is a perfect example of expiry of statute of limitations on plot twists (as I like to call it).
That particular plot twist is old enough if you haven’t gotten around to reading it you can’t complain if someone mentions it.
Darth Vader’s true identity, and the ending of The Sixth Sense fall into the same category.

A few days after release is unreasonably early to be spoiling things.

Also bought. Can confirm you get all the items in the description:
outfit
glider skin
immortal weapon box (can select a single weapon skin from it)
1 total kit
5 flame dye kits (with a CHANCE at rare dyes, but they can also give low value common dyes – RNG)

I’m happy with my purchase and pray they continue to put weapon skins in such smartboxes rather than the BL tickets and scraps system.

Seriously! I hate the gambling RNG aspect of most weapons (and since I know people always tell me just buy gems, convert to gold and buy them, its not the same feeling!)

You’re reading it wrong.

You get ‘a choice of an Immortal weapon skin’, ‘flame dye kits’, and a ‘make over kit’.

Not a choice of ‘Immortal weapon skin or flame dye or makeover’

Also, it dyes very well IMO. You can dye the crystals separately, the metal, and the cloth.

Source: I bought the pack.

your choice of an Immortal weapon skin, a Total Makeover Kit, or 5 Flame Dye Kits

Interesting. I’m thrilled to hear that, I just want to note it says or 5 dye kits, which in the context of that sentence proper grammar indicates a choice between those three items (with one of the choices being another choice lol).
I assume it’s a typo then.

Thanks guys!

So I was looking at picking up the Arbiter pack, love the glider, kinda like the outfit, and it has a makeover kit, an immortal weapon, and some some dye packs.

But As I’m looking for a chat code to preview the outfit so I can see if it dyes well I run across the blog post advertising it.
It says: "This pack contains the Crystal Arbiter Outfit and Crystal Arbiter Glider as well as your choice of an Immortal weapon skin, a Total Makeover Kit, or 5 Flame Dye Kits. "

Your choice of. This clearly says you do not get all 3 of those things, despite the fact that in-game it very clearly advertises that you get all 3 (see attached pic)

I am now confused as to what exactly I’d be getting, which to a moderate degree impacts the value of said package.
Anyone picked it up able to shed some light on this?
(and maybe direct me to a chat code for the outfit?)

Thank you,
Scribe

You buy a car.

You drive this car for 3 years.
The manufacturer comes to you and says, Hey, we’ll sell you a motor upgrade and a sunroof for $50, and transport you and your car to another continent so you can experience the new ride in style.

You say, holy smokes that’s the best deal since sliced bread.
You pay $50, they upgrade your car and take you to (insert other continent).

You hop in the car. And as you do the salesman says, oh by the way, you have to drive the old car for 50,000 miles to unlock the new features for the car (with a discount to 25,000 miles if you’ve already driven 250,000 miles where you came from).

You say hey wait a second, I thought I was going to be able to use the new features as I drove around the new place??
He says, nah you won’t get a sense of adventure or journey if you aren’t earning the new features on your car by experiencing the new place, so getting to use them is locked behind experiencing the very thing you wanted to experience with the upgrades.

It’s like putting the cart before the horse.

How would you rate the HoT Fun Factor?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ScribeTheMad.7614

ScribeTheMad.7614

I would rate it very highly.

Some of the hindrances:

Elite spec grind:
See my post here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/People-Gotta-Chill-Just-a-Little-Bit/5663039

Too many contested waypoints.
I actually don’t mind dying here and there, whether to mobs or falling or whatever, but when I then have to run half way across the map (losing credit for events in the process) this is not fun.

I don’t have a problem with masteries being a grind actually, they’re supposed to be a long term progression sort of thing, not something you grind out in a week (seriously I see all these people grinding their minds out who are going to be whining about not having anything to do in just a couple weeks tops (sorry I think that’s kind of stupid, imho))
For some of it, the gating makes sense and is kind of cool, like older games (back in my day get off my lawn blah blah) such as OoT where you needed new stuff to get to whole areas and it was fun getting those.
But you didn’t get them by killing redeads a thousand times.
Imagine if instead of simply grinding kills/events for mastery exp, you did events specifically for the Itzel, and as you build favor with them they start to sell you stuff (A gliding instruction manual that simply unlocks gliding)
Or an unlock for something being part of exploring a mini dungeon or at the end of particular event chains related to certain things.

Not making Ascended significantly more expensive and then lying about it.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Sorry, I wanted to play the jungle as my espec, not get it as an end reward for doing all of the hero points in the jungle, grats here’s an elite spec to stick on a shelf somewhere.

I could go do core world completion for half of it, so that it only ruins half the jungle grinding for the other 20 points, but that’s not how I envisioned starting off with my Rev.
