Hi,

well it’s interesting to follow this discussion – since I too was raiding on tuesday evening (EU) and was hunting for the achievment for Envoy armor II. So I did a couple of Cairn kills and while the first kill the loot bug got to me (other did get the loot), the second kill was denied by crashing the whole instance. At that point I had to stop raiding for the day and didn’t went back to until until it was fixed. At the end I got my kill (and loot) on saturday, but as far as I understood I would still be eligible for the gift.

There seems to be the second bug hitting – but I’m really glad it could be found and now it will be interesting if I really will be found worthy of the gift or not. Also I think it was a good decission to increase the number of eligible players because I know quite a number of raiders who help other on their boss kills even through they have killed already every boss after the reset and reached the shard cap.

The real reward during the discussion was the statement Jeremy. It was honest, considering and straight forward. I mean not to critisise you Gaile you are provided some information from the other and of course think this is the (whole) truth. Still sometimes also the players are right and (another) bug occured – so trying to finding and fixing it will always improve the game and I think no one out there will deny it if they are honest.

So thank Jeremy for the statement, thanks Gaile for following this thread and responding to us players – and maybe even thank you for the gift ;-) (future will determine that).

I would welcome a easier Raid mode – especially for own reason. Right now the best way of getting ascended weapons and armor are raids – except from crafting. So this easier version could give slightly more shards as a reward, but remove the legendary stuff and maybe also minis/asc. loot. So more people could learn in a little bit more forgiving situation the raid mechanics and aquire the gear to take the challenge on. Even for the “better” player it might be interesting to join the people on this mode in order to reach the weekly cap of shards.

I have puged the kill on the vale guardian, but am still trying to kill Gorseval. For the raids i even had to give my guardian a rest and level a revernant… . So since i’m not playing hardcore/since release of the core game i don’t have ascended weapon and armor boxes … And sadly it is hard to get in a raid per lfg without full ascended gear (trinkets and one-hand sword i have).

No, he takes normal damage, but is not moving around or spawning blue and green circles on the ground – so one tactic is to let him be and dps until the next phase. But the areas still will light up.

Short question: Do these knockbacks, stuns, daze, … occur in the raid? I can’t remember them. Maybe i didn’t get far enough in order to see them.

So this is my thinking / playing so far…

With as less toughness as possible to hold the aggro. And also going into symbols (Hammer/Mace + Shield or Focus). Writ of persistence is clear and sometimes also in the direction of AH to take some pressure of the healer.

Going for dragonhunter instead of virtues gives the possibility to use a trap and a flat 10% damage reduction due to no conditions in the fight i have seen so far. Also this opens up the possibility to use a dps-trap to push your personal dps a little bit.

Right now i have the trooper rune in my knight armor set – but this was in there before and i didn’t change it. Rune of scrapper might be nice. Also sigil of water might be worth a try for the second slot in the weapons …

In the end it should be fine-tuned to your group. Maybe dropping Valor for zeal in order to increase your symbol damage is an option, but this depends on the amount of healing you need. Other option would be droping dragonhunter in order to increase the passive amout of heal, but this should lower your personal dps – also because of losing the trap – which could be replace by Signet of Judgment in order to keep the damage reduction.

I think it is not really the optimal build, but as i said it really depends on your group…

My experience so far is that guardians are mostly accepted only as tanks via lfg – simply because there are so many people looking for a raid group. Even as a tank you would have competition with other classes.
My feeling is right now, that a lot of lfg-groups try to get the top dps-classes in order to increase the chance for the kill – which is not wrong, but bad for guardians – as much it hurts me to say it (also maining – nearly exclusivly – a guardian). But i hope in time everyone will get more experience in killing those bosses so that the preferences for which class one should bring will be diminishing – as long as all roles are filled.

Well here (Germany) it is already cheaper in the store then what it cost via Pre-purchase (even pricing in the additional character slot) so from a financial point of view i regret it definitly. Other then that … compared to the number of hours i will be playing it should be okay.

I would welcome a buff to empowering might. Reducing/deleting the ICD might be one option. I don’t think, that this would lead to a big dps spike. Normally your attacks take about 0.5 s so you could get ten stacks of might when attacking 1 target with 100% critical hitchance and without any +% boon duration. This i find absolutly reasonable. Counting in that most of the attacks are cleaving one could argue that 30 stacks would be possible (but still with 100% critchance). So when your are investing so much effort to get to 100% critchance you are already missing out on buffs to strength and it is okay.
But of course buffing the number of stacks or duration is also fine for me. Increasing duration might be best when you don’t want to buff AH… .

One thing to consider is that you are putting down a lot of light fields in order to get to your dps… Not everyone around you might like it – especially in world boss fights.

Am i the only one who has still a problem with the issue, that all our symbols are light fields? At least in PvE it is often the case, where light fields are not liked because nearly everyone wants to have a fire field – especially in fights against world bosses. This reduces also the use of symbolic avenger and of course hammer :-( .

I like the separation of stats from the trait lines – even if it leaves me with an even lower health pool.

As mentioned above shield is really disturbing … a guardian without a shield …. i really hate it – and for a melee based class it shouldn’t have knockback – it’s not really helping. Also already said – sometimes there is no real competition between picking a trait because all the other option are not worth it – even when ICD (also for empowering might … 5s might with 1s ICD … :-( ) are nerfing some traits so much.

would it be cool if we had a GM trait that changed symbols from light fields to fire or water?

I would find it fantastic – i mean both are used in longer fights – one for damage / stacking might and one for healing. I would even welcome it if the symbols wouldn’t be a field of any kind – just a symbol.

Lowest HP….now nerf the classes main source of damage mitigation….more….

Well just to point out the facts: thiefs, eles and guards have the same amount of HP, without using gear. Of course guard has around 150 toughness more then thief and around 300 more then ele.

One other tought – when you talk about stealth being a defensive mechanic it is only half true, since it is also an offensive power to be able to choose where and more important when to engage in a fight (CD!). Im not saying it should be nerfed or not, because i’m only playing PvE at the moment and my main is a guardian.

Right now i avoid WvWvW most of the time, because everytime i went there to unlock some traits, heropoints, vistas, … some roamers came around and engage in a fight.

I just feel it should be mentioned in the hope to get a more objective discussion.

I have a question – maybe a stupid one, but shouldn’t be (or are?) GS/Mace+Torch better for big bosses like Tequatl and Triple Trouble Wurm which you can hit two times with one swing thanks to cleave? I mean if i read the numbers right scepter is about 7.5% higher in DPS then GS/Mace+Torch but don’t these extra hit compensate for this?
Maybe this is clear to everyone except me, but right now i am unsure if this is the case or not.

Isn’t there an ICD? This should massivly limit the amaount of radiant fire procs … (like Empowering Might :-( )

You dont say.
That’s why it is that broken and everyone wants the fix.

1) Opening Post – Group of five Guardians …
2) Something constructive? Would it be enough for you to limit the stacking to only the symbols from a group? I don’t think so. In my opinion only the symbols put down by that guardian should be counting – if that would make the skill to weak for Arenanet, well there is always the possibility to change the factors…

To me it looks like, that all symbols are counting – not only those from the guardians in the group. Otherwise the damage output shouldn’t be soo high – still to high of course. I mean five guardians with quickness should be able to have permanent ten symbols on the ground – which would result in a factor of 2.59 instead of 1.21 (for only one guardian). So the effective number of players “only” would be doubled for the present guardians.
To me it looks like the boon bug a week ago – so hopfully it can be fixed in short time (without making this trait useless – maybe using a cap for the multiplicators (2?), or only counting the symbols which oneself has put down ) .

We don’t know yet how challenging tequatl will be. After the (first) patch there where the condition damage which was massivly increased (i like it, that condition are an equal contribution to the complete damage now). There also where different bugs – like perma quickness and triggering/stacking symbolic avenger – and there might be more, which we don’t know right now.

Doubling Tequatls HP (and from all the others) might be over the top or might not … nobody will know it until the other bugs are fixed. Arenanet will do it and then we can see how it works out. Maybe a little increase in stun time after a battery phase would be enough, maybe it is completly good, maybe their HPs have to be decreased to 150%.

A permanent testserver like with the beta might be an interessting idea for Arenanet to consider. But i don’t know if it is doable or practical for them to do it.

On a side note – it is interesting how quite most of the people where while the buff bug was online compared to now where only the guardians are affected from a bug (which looks quit similar).
