I enjoy the first half-hour or so of the new updates, then it starts to feel like a zergy grind just to get some new kind of loot bag or whatever. It all seems about getting a new armor or weapon skin rather than some kind of epic overarching plot.
Regular updates seem great in theory. But I would really like to see a significant expansion so I will feel like rolling a new character and really get more deeply involved with the world again. And I’d gladly pay for that.
+1
I totally agree that the theory behind these updates is to keep the game feeling new and fresh but often times they feel more half baked then anything. While they are mostly still worth the time to play after a few hours they just get repetitive.
Sadly I don’t think we will be getting any kind of big update anytime soon. I would love to go back to elona and win it back from Palawa or break through Cantha’s isolationism to see what is going on there but from what several higher ups have said the game is supported completely by mini transactions and they really have no need to release new payed content, so they will continue focusing on these little LS updates in an attempt to keep the micro transactions happening (hence the whole black lion ticket scrap bullkitten). bet people are wishing they got the key discount instead of the wp discount now :-P
That would only work if we ignore the question. the question was asked taking the entire world into account.
Are there dwarves then who are not stone out in the world somewhere still (assuming then there were some dwarves who did not participate)?
So they ask “Are there dwarves out in the world somewhere that did not participate?” Then the answer is “All dwarves participated. There are no non-stone dwarves in Tyria.”

This assumes two things:
1) that all the dwarves that were in the original game were accounted for. It’s a fantasy world if they want to make it happen they could invent a situation where some dwarves (unbeknownst to anyone else) did not partake in the ritual. I mean until they created the asura in Eye of the North there was absolutely no indication of their existence at all. Who can say that there is absolutely no way whatsoever that dwarves could make a return?
2)that there won’t be some reason that they want to say “screw it, we said there weren’t any but the player base wants it so lets bring them back somehow.” As if ANet has never said one thing and done exactly the opposite ever.
I am not trying to argue the lore. I am not trying to say that dwarves are a guarantee, what I am trying to say is that what looks fairly solid now in terms of lore could be changed with one genius idea from a random dev. For that matter we could see elves eventually if they really wanted to add them. I just think that dwarves are far more likely since they already exist, and ANet has generally shied away from western fantasy.

I do not know about everyone else but one of the options I sorely miss from the original game is the ability to follow someone, particularly during escort missions.
I also really enjoyed the ability to dye my weapons in guild wars 1. I know this is a victim of fashion type problem, but lets face it a lot of us are very dedicated to the look of our characters. I have several weapon skins that I really like but probably won’t put the effort into getting simply because they won’t match the color scheme that I have picked out for a character.
I know, I know first world problems.
I can see this being potentially problematic. One of the major downfalls of GW1 was the sheer number of skills that were in the game that constantly had to be balanced and refined. (Shadow Form :p).
I will however say that I like the general idea of your suggestion. Make it so that the original 1st skill chain stays the same (to cut down on skill count a little) and then make it so that the skills 2-5 can be replaced with 1 alt for each skill. This way if there is a particular skill on a weapon that you don’t use often you can swap it out for it’s alt if you prefer that skill.
I would also suggest that the current method of having the skills required to be unlock stay with the alts. Except make it so that you have to learn the original bar and then the alts take longer/have more in depth requirements for unlocks.
This suggestion seems like a great idea to me. It could even have a display check box that would allow you to turn off the mini if you want to for some reason.
I think it is fairly obvious that the elven thing is against ANets vision for the game. I will say that there is absolutely no way for us to know for sure that ALL dwarves were turned to stone. Its part of the devs teams rights/responsibilities to create exciting plot twists and such. One of these may bring about the return of Dwarves in some way.
I however find it much more likely that they will add the ability to play as one of the races currently in the game that have been displaced by the dragons. Such as the Kodun.
Just my thoughts.
No. If you put the pet on peace mode and stow it will come out the millisecond you are back in battle and still be on peace mode. I’m all for a perma-stow option.
SHOULD. I said it should lock him away until you intentionally bring him out. I know that right now nothing keeps him stowed. Take some fall damage and POP… out he comes. Go underwater and there he is. Get a splinter, and he’ll be there to lick your boo-boo.
And if you stow your OWN weapon, it would be nice if that also triggered the “return to me” function. My pet will run off and attack anything up to nearly my range of sight. With the current state of targeting, that means he often goes out to bring home more aggro after the battle is done. If I sheath my weapon, I would like him to heel.
100% agree with this. If I sheathe my weapon he should return to me and not run off like a blood thirsty berserker.
A lot of people say that this mechanic would break the rangers pet mechanic and would give them an unfair advantage.
The problem I run into a lot (and this is just a situation that i run into frequently) is when I want to do, say, the daily dodge achievement I will frequently switch to an alt instead of doing it on my ranger since most of the time my pet will grab 1v1 aggro. (which is exactly what I want MOST of the time).
Here’s a solution that I think would be viable and easily implemented. Give me a ground targeting skill that allows me to flag my pet in a certain spot. Then, make it so that if I move a certain distance away from the pet the pet auto returns to me. Flagging was a great thing about GW1.
Or you could instead make it that when the pet is in peace mode he no longer gets any kind of aggro. When told to attack a target he would auto switch to aggressive until the target was killed or switched. This would effectively nullify the pet’s presence but still keep the mechanic of having their skills usable intact.
This would be a decent way to know your skills are being used. I agree with koko though that this would be potentially a big cluster of numbers.
Maybe have it be an option that can be enabled if you like it? (Sort of like color blind mode on certain games.) Think about the nightmare levels of lag this would cause for most people during boss fights….
Seems like a lot of work though just to have extra damage reports.
The licensing fees and work required for generation of the items mentioned would far outway the potential profit.
Actually the taxes attempt to keep the active player money supply in check and that in turn helps keep inflation at bay. But I nitpick.
Sounds like the OP forgot about the fees when pricing the object for sale and ended up with less than he was expecting and is transferring his anger from himself to the TP.
I did not forget the fees.
Here is the problem for me. I know that in this game there are people who are just completely unable to make money. Through ineptitude, play time restrictions, whatever. But I also know that there are people sitting out there with 2000g in their bank just chilling. I have nothing against either of these class of players. What I do have a problem with is that the people with the tons of money literally have nothing to fear for buying everything they could ever want off the TP.
With the game the way it is it is very easy/cost effective to create a quasimonopoly on certain items. If there is no fee for buying, someone with loads of money can just go in and say hey I want everything of said item and be done with it. If there was a 5% sales tax they had to pay that would be a fairly large money sink on said ventures. The average player wouldn’t really notice the difference but it would be a small burden off the sellers shoulders.
I am not saying this is perfect and I know that in reality it will make little difference but it just seems unfair to me to heavily tax the sellers and never charge anything of the people that buy loads of stuff off the TP.
Alright look, I am just want to say that this has been an issue that I absolutely had from day one. I am just now talking about it because I knew deep down that Anet would see the issue and take care of it. Since they seem to think its ok I want to call bullkitten.
There is absolutely no reason to take a 5% listing fee AND a 10% sales tax from the seller. The only reason you have for this is to bleed money out of the economy to force people to continue farming/buying gems to convert to gold. If you absolutely must continue with this make the fees 5% and 5% and have the buyer shoulder some of the burden.
It seems illogical to me that the SELLER should have to pay a 10% sales tax!!!! How does that make sense? If I am doing the favor of creating the supply why am I being penalized so heavily?
Oh and one more thing fix the “projected profit” to include both fees. At least then the box won’t be lying about how much you will profit.
In the perfect world you would charge a 5% listing fee and have that be the end of it. There is no need for a sales tax at all.

I keep hearing about this bad “rep” but I have never had an issue getting into groups, or leading a group in a dungeon. I even have received numerous compliments in dungeons.
Maybe it’s the GW1 title, I’m not sure but I think it’s all in how you playin the environment. Maybe majority of rangers are using LB and SB and standing in one area? This is a game all about moving around, and mechanics.
I normally run a solid SB, LB, trap build and never have much issue.
Unless majority of people are just extremely nice and don’t say anything, but knowing how people are, I doubt it.
I couldn’t agree with this statement more. I run traps, longbow/shortbow and occasionally longbow/sword&horn. I run a complete power/precision/crit damage with ascended (exotic armor and weapons obviously) and full ranger runes on top of all that. Granted there isn’t a real burst built into this build but when I have spike and flame trap on a group plus arrow storm and have my flame sigil proccing literally every 3 seconds I have major aoe.
Warriors up front need a heal no prob my fern hound has some help for you that I can micromanage, not to mention his knockdown and cripple. Oh, you want more damage instead of healing let me bring out my jaguar to stack vulnerability and bleed on the target. I have one target i want to spike down? Shortbow for the win. I need to avoid attacks and be elusive? Sword/Horn.
Not to mention this entire time my build has a 85% critical rate and does 256% damage on a critical. Not to mention if I pay attention and place myself well I can engage multiple targets constantly with Piercing Arrows. A LB/SB build is perfectly viable and a ranger doesn’t ever have to switch IF they know how to use each weapon to its fullest.
Sorry for the rant but I grow tired of the rangers suck and dont contribute much argument. A bad warrior isn’t necessarily going to be able to contribute much just like a bad ranger wont be able too. Granted a good warrior is extremely useful, but in my opinion a good ranger can be just as useful. Long story short I fully believe that rangers are a great class that is harder to be really good at than most but when done correctly can be a very solid character.
Don’t get me wrong I would like to see some things buffed/tweaked for the ranger. A buff for spirits to add more utility options would be great, and the option to flag pets would be very nice for soloing/dungeons. But knowing how well I play my ranger and how much fun I have with it I simply just do not buy the whole “rangers suck”/“bad” rep thing.
This whole thread has been nothing but a QQ fest, I mean seriously. Your remember back when we had to do EVERY achievement to get the meta chest? When we had to do an entire story arc to get one achievement that counted towards the meta chest? Stop complaining. If you want the wings do the achievements, its that simple. If you don’t get the ones that you can buy. Anet may be slow on some things but I guarantee that eventually you will get the wings if you earn them.
Blue steel, and some Clawmag fun
what pants are these they go well with the norn t3 stuff
Sorry about the poor quality of the pics I am at work and this rig can barely run the game so graphics are real low. Love this armor was one of the main reasons I rolled a ranger first.
Dyes are celestial for main parts sapphire minor parts and winter ice for the shiny metal parts. I have this sets legs and boots with a duelist top, shoulders and gloves that I run on my thief with the major/minor dye choices inverted.
the skins do look great and i really believe as mentioned in my previous comment that there is nothing inherently wrong with RNG boxes, the problem I have is when that is the ONLY method of obtaining something. Make the RNG box skins tradeable and then add a way to grind for the skin that isn’t.
They could incorporate a skin ticket into the achievement category for story and have that be untradeable.
Thats just an idea, I don’t claim to know what’s best for the game and I know this is a company thats out to make money. What I do claim is that if they continue to do this sort of thing with elite skins being locked away behind RNG crap their player base is going to dwindle, and that won’t be good for anyone.
hey guys, you remember when we had guild wars 1 and the weapon skins didn’t change at all except for new expansions? I fully support their frequent updates of the skin pool but I agree that there needs to be a much better system for this. Instead of it being find this RARE drop then hope it has a SUPER RARE drop in it there needs to be another option. The current option is fine but it needs to be tweaked so that the items are sellable on the TP, this will encourage the gamblers to heavily invest in the boxes in hopes of a large profit.
That being said there needs to be a way to make it so that people that want to grind out the weapon skins can do it.
I thought that the hero armor upgrades in GW1 had a perfect approach to this, a completely separate instance that had a low percentage drop rate off mobs and a slightly higher chance in the chest for completing it with the chest occurring once a day.
I wondered why my map completion on character select said 76 when it was actually 75 (its 78 right now though). And I feel for the OP, the green BL map is the only WvW map I have not completed. I still need 2 POIs and 3 SP for it.
are you still on kaineng? BC I am on yaks and we are matched up against yall and crystal desert and you guys have GBL so you should be able to complete it.
Or the two spots use different methods of rounding.
I have a strong suspicion that this is the case and I would suggest that they both round down to the full percentage so that there is no confusion on the matter. Besides, it is slightly frustrating for the game screen to tell me literally everytime I log on that I’m so close to 100% it might as well round it up.
The tracker that shows on the character select screen seems to round up. More than half my characters have 1% higher totals there than they do when I log into them and check their actual map listings. And that’s out of a sample group of 16 characters, where I update a spreadsheet with their Level, Funds Carried, Crafting Skills, Skill Points, Story Level, Current Personal Storage Use and Map Completion every time I log off of one.
Just ridiculous. Everything after the second sentence is just insane amounts of dedication.
The home instance of the Order of Whispers is the likely culprit here. It’s a POI that is outside the normal maps but still counts for the global achievement.
I did the whispers story arc with this character so it would be really interesting if I was missing that particular POI. Thanks for the help and comment though.
Sorry guess I should have explained better. I know what spots I am missing. I am at 100% for PvE. When I hover over each map they all say 100% except green borderlands in WvW. So I know exactley what points I am missing just thought it was interesting that the account based tracker has me at 99% but the character based tracker has me at 100%.
I also run the LB/SB combo (with a sword&horn for added group swiftness for long runs). Currently I run Perception/Flame but have been wondering if a Perception/Bloodlust combo would work? Do you get stacks of both and if you do is the resulting 250 power even worth it? I run a full glass cannon build so my crit with full perception stacks hits 71% crit which is noticeable difference but is the power as noticeable?
I know that a lot of people have probably had this problem at one point or another. I also know that world completion was about as clear as mud on launch and has since been easily defined. I would also like to point out that I very clearly know EXACTLEY what points I need (kitten you Kaening and your always holding garrison) but I just thought that this was an interesting bug that would surely have a simple enough fix.
Don’t worry bud you are certainly not the only one with these exact problems. I am currently at 98% and the only parts I need are constantly in the other servers borderlands, it seems to me that they should make it that every once in a while the borderlands your server controls is swapped around. It would help with the exploration part but also keep them from being so static.
As to the norn jumping puzzle thing. I have done every single one of them on my norn and you are completely correct half of them would be much easier if the camera angle wasnt FUBAR. I remember that in GW1 it was possible to zoom your camera all the way into your character and play in 1st person mode. I am not saying this needs to be an option 100% of the time but there is obviously code in place that detects when you have entered a jumping puzzle so made they could just add the ability to zoom in to first person for the duration of the puzzle.
But yes exact same issues here lol.
First off I would like to say that I have scoured the forums and net in general for a good answer to my questions and nobody seems to answer all of them. First some basic stats so we all know what I am asking:
Currently in the world there are:
301 Renown Hearts
512 Waypoints
721 POIs
202 Skill Points
266 Vistas
I have been out of touch since roughly Dec. 2012, I know there have been several updates/patches that added things to the maps. I have completed 92% of the map with only Mount Malestrom and Dredgehaunt left in PvE and all the borderlands (not EB did that first thing) left in PvP. This completion includes all of the waypoints and POIs they added in previously completed maps.
The part that encouraged me to post here was finding a link to a map completion table on wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_completion/table
Based off of that list there are:
301 Renown Hearts
508Waypoints
706 POIs
202 Skill Points
260 Vistas
Now to the questions:
1) Which of the two (if either) is correct?
2) If the table from wiki is correct what do the extras from the in game total include?
3) If the totals from the game are correct what is the wiki missing?
4) Do dungeons count? I read somewhere that dungeons did not but I think that would just about make up the difference between wiki and in-game totals.
I also know as of the moment South Sun Cove is not counted towards the map completion but the answer to wether or not they are included in the map total is not clear.
I would also like to thank anyone in advance for there contribution to this topic I know it is a tired one.
