In dynamic events healing and reviving are not counted (or at least count significantly less than dealing damage) toward event rewards. It is often necessary for someone to focus on healing and reviving everyone, but being that person gets you fewer rewards.

I’ve noticed that when healing, too. It doesn’t seem to be counted at all toward your participation. Really needs to be fixed IMO.

I can’t recall the last time a AAA title had a sale within the first 3 months. If something is continuing to sell well why reduce the price so soon?

I bought Dishonored (well, my wife let slip that she picked it up for me for Christmas) and XCOM for $25 each, and Assassin’s Creed III for $32 on Amazon (all for Xbox 360). None of those AAA titles have been out three months yet. This happens all the time. When Deus Ex: Human Revolution came out I got it for like $45 two weeks later and it wasn’t even the holidays.

These points make a lot of sense to me, maybe I’ll try it on my warrior. One other thing though, in the past I’ve noticed that the sigil in the offhand weapon seems to have no effect. I’m talking about bloodlust mainhand, precision stacking offhand. I only get the stacks for the bloodlust. Is it really correct that I could use two of these sigils if I’m dual wielding?

Sigils interact with each other in specific ways. Stacking sigils (Bloodlust and Perception in your post are examples) don’t work together. You can only stack one type of bonus, so you will never see Perception working while you have Bloodlust (probably would be reversed if they swapped hands). You’ll need to find a different type of sigil you like for your off hand.

It would normalize the time:reward ratio across events, making more different events attractive for rewards. Scaling for difficulty is the goal, but I just mentioned that as a sort of automatic version which would (hopefully) be easier to implement, in that it would not require a designer to revisit every single event to determine what the rewards should be.

Yes, the more efficient player would get less, but they’d be able to complete more events in the same amount of time, which could make up for it.

No, there’s no resource nodes. Something else will take the place of ad-hoc, holiday content on the go. There are new crafting recipes, but the components for those will come from the rewards gained by playing any holiday content.

And the person you dueled might have been a mate of mine in the guild. Not too sure, but he kept ranting about his drawn out duel against this “Frickin Ele.” (I don’t listen to him when he’s like that :P)

lol, I was having a blast. When he finally defeated me I tried to run back to that spot hoping he’d still be there just so I could emote some kind of cheer or something at him.

Best one I had was not knowing it was a D/D ele, we both hit RTL and then Updraft at the same time. Was like fighting a mirror.

Ha. : ) During this fight, at one point we both put up shocking aura at the same time. It was kind of funny: both hit each other at same time, both stunned, repeat until shocking aura wears off.

I love these kinds of fights! So far I’ve only managed to get one recorded with fraps. It wasn’t the greatest but here it is:

Sending multiple requests to a database is pretty much always going to be slower than sending a single request. The database can optimize how it executes the requests only if it has them in a batch. A lot of database optimization, as far as I know, is just finding ways to combine statements so you send fewer requests.

On top of that, it’s pretty much guaranteed that sell requests are small enough that batching them would help with network traffic as well. I think they would have to be in the megabyte range for this not to be the case.

For instance, if the sell interface for your inventory allowed you to choose prices for the individual items without leaving the inventory list, then check a box next to each you want to sell and send them all to the server in a batch.

And Crests/Medallions/etc. can be stuck in accessories as well if desired. You have the potential to equip 12 of them (+ 1 in water breather). So maxed out Crest of the Soldiers would give:
+ 240 Power (+ 260 underwater)
+ 168 Toughness (+ 182 underwater)
+ 168 Vitality (+ 182 underwater)

Of course you’d have to compare against whatever these would be replacing from the accessories. Or if they’re just better than what’s in your accessories, you could have both Superior Rune of the Soldier and 6+1 Crest of the Soldier:

+ 249 Vitality (+ 263 underwater)
+ 129 Toughness (+ 143 underwater)
+ 120 Power (+ 140 underwater)

The artificial supply I was referring to is the one you’re suggesting creating.

The price would be variable, the only time the price would trend into a diminishing state would be if the demand consistently decreased.

Wasn’t the whole point of your suggestion to force prices to tend down toward whatever you seem to think they should be by artificially increasing supply if the prices go higher?

In this system the impact of people artificially inflating and deflating is offset by 2 factors:

1) a delay between the inflation and deflation (much like what happens in the real world)
2) the “quarterly” economic cycles would be reduced in time to the point where boom and bust effects wouldn’t have lasting effects without having lasting trends of pricing which influences the average price.

This system is pretty much fool proof unless you get thousands of players together and they all start over or under bidding for weeks and weeks and weeks but that’s the thing: if the masses aren’t happy with something they have a right not to buy it and thus cause the prices to reduce.

I’m not sure what you are talking about and referring to. Here is what I’m reading your suggestion to be: automatically increase drop rates proportional to price increases in the trading post. If the price rises X%, the drop rate rises X%. The average daily price is used to determine when this artificial drop rate increase kicks in, but that shouldn’t matter because the effect of raising drop rates would be to trend the prices back down toward the original price when this system was started, unless people are gaming the system.

Although, since you don’t suggest artificially reducing drop rates if prices fall, what you’re really suggesting is a system that would only support falling prices, never rising prices. Eventually you could expect everything on the trading post to cost 1c over vendor value.

Not true, if the artificial supply increase doesn’t reset or diminish. The price would be expected to tend to fall to whatever prices they set as the pivot point for starting the drop rate inflation.

It might not have been just one guy, but a group of people. For bag space, they probably have a bunch of character slots, since I’m currently unaware of what the limit to number of characters you can have. The market was clearly manipulated for chocolate. If you look at the charts for chocolate bars, there was a sudden 500k increase of buy orders at around 60c on November 27, 2012, and then a subsequently curious 500k drop in the buy orders yesterday after the manipulators sold their supply and made their profit.

Click the link I gave above and read the posts by the user I mentioned. What happened with chocolate is not a mystery or a secret.

Is the log only created when the client exits normally? For my situation that setting probably wouldn’t help get a log file, since I had to kill the process from Task Manager (well, Process Explorer is what I use instead of Task Manager, but still). You can’t exit normally from a loading screen…

My game got stuck on loading into The Grove with two different characters over the Lost Shores weekend. I had to kill the game process and log back in, and once when I did it, the game couldn’t decide if I was in The Grove or Caledon Forest and the loading screens kept switching back and forth between them until it eventually settled on The Grove. Pretty sure I had it happen for Black Citadel once also.

Lately this skill (Trident auto-attack with air) will often get into a state where it will shoot above the head of my target and continually miss while the target keeps hitting me until I move around to a spot which lets me hit them (usually above them).

Yours is more oriented to support. Shard of ice would be nice but I can get vulnerability in other ways and with my build the uptime on protection, fury and swiftness is high especially with dual daggers.

Here’s the one I’m working up to (currently level 77). It’s my Cantrip build, focusing on survivability. So far I’ve only done PvE but I intend to WvW at some point.

The idea is to maximize Cantrips (Mist Form, Cleansing Fire, Armor of Earth), and also get a lot of survivability through healing, vitality, and remove conditions (with Cleansing Water triggering for you and nearby allies every time you attune to Water, and also whenever you use a Cantrip due to Soothing Disruption). With Runes of Dwayna you also get 5% chance of regen every time you get hit (which will also remove condition, plus for yourself and nearby allies every time you use your healing signet). Or alternatively Runes of Strength could be used since you have Might so often. So every time you use one of your three utility skills you get (in addition to the effect of the spell): Vigor, Regeneration, 3 stacks of Might, remove a condition, and that skill will recharge 20% faster. Oh, and you get all this for free with Armor of Earth whenever you get knocked down to 50% health (90 second cooldown). Seems fun to me.

There are a couple other interesting options I came up with, too.

This one is intended to maximize Signets. Your utility and healing skills are all signets, but you get their passive effects even while they recharge, so you can use them at will. Every time you do, you get a fire shield, 3 seconds of Protection, and cause Vulnerability. They also recharge 20% faster, Signet of Water gives Regeneration, and Signet of Fire burns longer.

This one is intended to maximize Auras. With dagger/dagger, you have access to Frost and Lightning auras, and with Fire’s Embrace you get Fire Shield whenever you use a signet. Signets won’t grant passive bonuses when recharging with this build, but every time you get an aura, it is granted to your nearby allies also, and grants 3 seconds of Protection to go with it. With Runes of the Earth, you also get Magnetic Aura whenever you fall below 20% health, and the Protection from all your auras will last longer.
