Well yeh, being able to spectate in client is something I mentioned to, it would be a great idea. Some people just want to watch the crucial fights and some people want to watch the people playing the same role as yourself, so you can figure out what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong.
Well its been awhile but another thing that comes to mind is most esports games (such as LoL and Smite) have seperate youtube channels for their esports scene and they list each match by itself on there, so you can right away start watching, say, Abjured vs Team PZ game 2 rather than having to fast forward through videos trying to find the spot you want.
Even if you just post them to the regular youtube channel would be fine, but it would definitely be better if you could find each match individually later rather than simply scrolling through the whole stream feed trying to find it.
I would wait longer than 3 days and at least until after we enable decay before making a judgement on how the team leaderboard will settle out. It is not our intention that a single team of players has the time to possibly keep that many entries at the top of the leaderboard.
While not wishing to be confrontational, for one the condescending attitude is grossly disrespectful to the people who pay your bills.
For second? You are completely incorrect in your assumptions. One of Abjured’s team is in the top 25 with only 6 games played. Many teams have more wins than this, you don’t need to put constant effort into maintaining your spot, just keep a high win rate.
Now the thread has clearly spiraled into a slightly different discussion but I just want to say, 6 hours for a for a division change is completely fine imo. I didn’t go from placement to platinum V in Smite joust in just a couple hours, I did it by putting in the time and effort and working like mad just to get there.
That’s how leagues SHOULD be. If you can go up to ruby or diamond in a day or two’s work, then that is literally pointless. The system wasn’t made to be easy and it shouldn’t be. This is what leagues are.
Tempest damage is pretty low, just make sure not to fire at them when magnetic aura is up. Best help I can offer low, other than that maybe roll a DH lol? It’s pretty much a power ranger these days just with more survival as well.
Only ever seen a single point given out, how bout you lol? I mean this may be due to everyone starting in the same place but as of currently the system is a solid 1 point per win 1 point per loss, with no differentiation. Plus the point pool is so small (15 to next rank) as opposed to 100 on most league based games which allows for more fine-tuned point rewarding based on matching.
I mean I went like 5 or 6 – 2 and we were just yolo qing, so I really couldn’t care less but the system is not as robust as preexisting competitive league systems.
The only problem with queuing with non-division players is the fact that Gw2 is using a simple win / loss system rather than a points system like mobas do. Which causes the problem that the amount of points gained / lost cannot reflect any skill/rank mismatches since its a solid win or lose with no grey area.
That said, I mean a 1 division difference isn’t huge, so I mean it really isn’t that bad. The difference between say, silver and bronze in Smite or LoL is not that high.
Yeh, there is no reason to say hey just no point to it. The spectator experience can be a lot better with even just a few small tweaks to it.
Yeah that’s a great point too. I think they should have bars / charts to show the total damage outputted but spectators don’t need the screen clogged with all that individual damage and evades etc, rather than provide spectators with more information it just makes viewing a mess and even harder to recognize abilities.
Every two weeks is completely unreasonable. Should they update more frequently than they do? Yeah probably. Every two weeks? Yeah that makes sense for a pro scene….
Seriously though, trying to adapt to a new meta every other week would be insane, even every month can be very difficult. That’s a strategy that favors not good teams but teams that can adapt quickly to cheese.
Hey so I pretty much no lifed gw2 last year but eventually took a year long break where I played a lot of Smite and later Heroes of the Storm. I follow Smite and LoL’s pro scene and love watching their games. I’ve also been enjoying the gw2 pro league the last two weeks. Yet I feel there are some major and some less major improvements that the game really needs for the spectator experience to be far better than it currently is.
Spectator UI
This is the most glaring issue and honestly some of it should be easy to fix. I’m not a game dev but I cannot imagine this being difficult to change and regardless it is worth that effort. With the spectator UI you see the names and health bars of the red team listed on the left, and the names and health bars of blue on the right. Yet when you look at the minimap it is entirely the reverse, with blue base being on the left and red base being on the right. This can make it very confusing and difficult to follow the rotations and action because the two aspects don’t line up. It really doesn’t matter whether you fix the minimap (and thus map) or fix the side that names appear on but it is pretty crucial to fix. I would imagine swapping the sides for the names would be easier.
BARS! Trust me it’d be awesome! No not the drinks but bars for showing damage output / damage received / healing done that you can display midgame so we can get a better understanding of who is doing exactly what. The visuals of abilities can be a bit messy so a clean UI that can display important values like this would allow the casters to show substantive information on how the game is progressing.
I’m pretty sure (been awhile since I’ve messed around with spectator UI) but there isn’t a free cam which albeit is difficult to use if you had a dedicated camera “operator” with a free cam capability you might be able to provide a better viewing experience for spectators.
Replays
This would require a deal of work and I get that, but having replays available where players could load up (ingame) and view a replay of the pro league matches from whatever perspective they want could be a major addition and would facilitate another idea for how to improve the experience of viewers. But no matter what it would help players examine and understand pro level play.
What was the other major addition? This year for Worlds LoL had several team fight breakdown videos. This was made possible by the ability to review the games after the fact from whatever angle people wanted. A lot of complaints I hear is that Gw2 is just too messy to watch with no clue of what is going on. I felt a lot like that when I was watching LoL the first time. I think if you guys did a slow motion replay of key teamfights where you carefully highlight as many key ability casts as possible could give viewers a better understanding of what happened as well as what to look for in the future.
I’ll probably come up with more ideas and post them as I do and who knows if you’ll use any of them or not haha. But I wanted to just put up my ideas of how you can improve the game for an esports audience and at least the first one should be fairly easy to resolve.
Haha well I said I was a bit of a warrior noob, totally forgot about the low endurance damage increase, that’s a good point. So the damage is probably a bit higher but berserker has been offering better sustain and set-up for my teams (with the myriad of stuns and the bonus heal in berserk mode) so for me it seems to make up for it. But yeah, I guess strength would boost the damage.
I should point out I’m playing this as a homepoint defender rather than a carry tho, so the added sustain sort of needed to be thrown in, without sacrificing too much damage. Sword + Shield might give more auto attack damage but it still doesn’t match the burst from HB or the mobility out of the rest of the kit. Gen. if I have to auto attack I’ve been on hammer, that chain seems to put out a little more damage.
Will keep playing with it and trying to find the best balance between them I can, just figured I’d give everyone a build idea to try if they’ve been disliking warrior atm.
Actually the damage loss is pretty minimal (comparing game-to-game damage charts) It’s worth noting that you gain increased damage after ending berserk and even more while in the stance. Not to mention the primal burst on the greatsword deals slightly more damage than the regular greatsword burst skill.
I mean, I’m still in the testing phase with this but the biggest loss I’ve seen in it so far is the longer greatsword cooldowns. (The greatsword after all gains the same bonus damage it would have before when in berserk and the hammer gets a damage bonus from berserker it didn’t get with the strength tree)
And all this is coming coupled with increased sustain. You get a 10 sec cd stun breaker and a full primal burst bar (10 adrenaline) actually qualifies as a level 3 adrenaline rank for trait purposes so its actually easier to maintain the level 3 adrenal health regen. And a 5k heal if you take fatal damage in berserker.
But yeah, I am still trying it out so maybe you’re right, it just doesn’t seem to add up yet. I definitely intend to keep testing it out.
Well take this with a grain of salt since I only have 43 games on warrior (compared to 1050+ on guardian lol) but I’ve actually been having a fair amount of success with Warrior as of late.
I saw that GS / Hammer warrior had made it to great on metabattle so I gave it a try and found it to perform decent though I agree it didn’t necessarily stack up to the meta builds.
But on a whim, since no one seemed to be using it, I swapped out strength for berserker and I’ve had some pretty good results. For one you can use the berserk to break stun, then the heal during berserk gives you a fair bit more sustain without sacrificing damage. You can pull off some pretty crazy good head butt, stun break with berserk and fire off a quickness powered HB into the primal burst…. yeah you can hit the target for like 20k in 4 seconds or less. (thanks to the quickness)
But yeah, still playing around with it or I’d link the build I’m running.
Just a small request but next time can you guys actually announce information more than a week and a half before the event?
For those of us that have jobs it is pretty hard to get time off with less than two weeks notice. It seems a bit absurd that for something so important you waited until the last minute to make any real announcements.
And can we get some clarification on what ‘top teams in the guild league’ means exactly for challenger’s cup? Just curious so we might understand what we have to do in advance.
Oh also have curse voice, almost forgot about that. (It’s free, so won’t cost you a penny)
Alright I’m looking for one more to round out a team for open qualifiers this Saturday to potentially Monday. We need a good team fight support-ish player, so preferably a druid / tempest / maybe shoutbow warrior. Only real requirement is that you are available for the tournament (starts at 5 pm EST this Saturday and goes until who knows lol)
Additionally if we somehow manage to make it to Monday we are going to need one, possibly two substitutes. Specifically a thief and possibly a Necro will need to be subbed for Monday’s games. (Again, if we make it to Monday, only top 8 teams will but most of us have 1k games played or more.)
If you are interested in any of the positions please toss me an in-game mail (Shepherd.5839) and I will get back to you as soon as I can, probably not before 7 pm EST November 13th.
I can’t whisper people on my friend’s list, like anybody except the one currently in my party. Did not have this problem earlier.
influence for favor huh, so why can’t we? I have a guild with 9.3k inf so why can’t we exchange it for anything?
So I can’t seem to find them anywhere but the guild panel tells me to look for them in the guild initiative headquarters. Did you guys just decide to say wa-hey we’ll release an unfinished product or am I blind? Both are quite possible.
Yeah so seriously… when can we get team and solo ranked again please? Because merged I believe at least 75% of all my matches have been against at least partial if not full premades…. couple that with how overpowered celestial currently is means PvP is pretty depressing to play still. Started having fun playing this game again but with the current setup, pvp is off the table and I mean, full zerk pve gets boring fast.
I mean like, I really enjoyed (and still do) the gameplay but it is one of the worst matchmaking systems I’ve seen. I mean yeah basing it on rank alone would be terrible, but I mean it should be to some degree. Like within a certain amount of ranks of each other it should be based on win ratio or personal points rather than rank but someone with 10x more matches played than someone else is going to be better than them in the vast majority of examples. There are some exemplary rank 10’s sure, but they are the exception not the rule, and having them play with other people their rank for awhile would only help them get better.
Time doesn’t mean as much as skill, agreed. But the more you play the better you get, no matter what. So yeh rank SHOULD be factored in. Say in League or Smite, the higher my level gets the harder the match ups generally get, this is because that DOES get factored in and it SHOULD.
Win rate is a far better determinant of skill…. after a certain point. But a matchmaking system where a rabbit whose played 4 matches and won 3 is considered high tier like a dragon whose won 1000 and lost 300 is not a good system, its not even decent. Time does add to skill, even if a dragon isnt always better than a rabbit.
Just to add my two cents here, I stopped playing a couple months ago, burned out h a r d (how does that become kitten? o.O) on the pvp after a couple months of Mistpedia 2v2s and ToL2. I just came back recently and decided to give pvp a swing again. I’m already ready to quit again. Now that the ranked pvp is merged every match feels like the old solo arena except now you occasionally get pitted against a premade and its even worse. Playing with one friend made it barely worth the effort but queuing by myself? My team has never hit 200 points and they just zerg points. So yeah, matchmaking isn’t broken it is nonexistent. I’m shark rank…. shouldn’t be queued with the bottom most rungs not to be an elitist, just totally unfun. Maybe I’ll check it out in another couple of months again.

Shelter is used mainly for the block, I rarely find myself needing it to heal.
Well yeah the 2 seconds of block is definitely the strongest part of shelter and the main reason I used it in the past but since using healing breeze I’m a bit torn as it provides a lot better team support than shelter would. Of course it gives me less blocks to proc empowering wrath but I’ve never been very worried about that haha.
Anyways just wanted to get your thoughts on its use. It seems like a very unpopular heal and yet its worked marvelously for me in team queue so I was curious why no one ran it.
Shield 5 is awesome and fits the theme. The cd is a bit long, but then again I don’t think they ever intended guardian to be a decapper. Also focus is about magic so magical shields surrounding you fits fairly well. Also shield 5 lasting longer seems pointless to me, but I only ever use it for the knockback. If you want to block ranged attacks there is always sanc, tho that is also a long cd.
Yeah Silven’s 2h damage build is a great way to go, more survivability than a triple med (in my opinion, less damage tho so I’m not talking crap about triple meditation don’t worry ;D). If you want a little more damage out of it you can swap soldiers rune for strength runes then air and battle on both weapons. Also I generally recommend air over fire anyways, the radius on fire is a little too small and you almost always end up in a 1v1 at some point where air is better.
Also empower + strength runes is pretty sweet. You can empower, swap to hammer (or greatsword, greatsword will get you more damage but less control) then pop F1 and bam, you’re at 18 might stacks.
Ok well the VERY few times I have run signets in PvP was with this build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAS5el0ApWoFCxTI8DRBBRkj1BFDYHX/eDA-TZxHAB1eQAQqMgBXAAAeCAXs/AA
That’s a signet bunker build. However as several other people said, Signets are really bad for guardians.
The heal: soooooo easy to interrupt
Mercy: Only a small amount of healing power from it and important to note: it takes longer to cast mercy than to stomp a player, so better hope they aren’t quick on their feet
Damage reduction: I mean I guess it makes sense but I tried it and found the results very disappointing. Bane worked better for me for higher damage and a nice old knockback to help keep pressure off yourself.
As for what you said Saiyan, Healing Breeze is awesome much respect. To kitten’ point Shelter is without a doubt our best all purpose heal but healing breeze can be better in certain comps, at least in my opinion. With a d/p thief and a shatter mesmer that extra 7.5k heal potential to teammates can make the difference, and even if its interrupted you’ll still proc 3.5k to yourself and 1.5k to anyone you are facing in 600 range.
In closing: Signets not great, and I don’t think you should run three signets without actually traiting for signets. (And in general, far weaker than pretty much any viable bunker build)
Ok so my first impressions right off the bat, drop the heal and purging flames. The AoE on purge is too small so you’ll rarely get many ticks off on it and the only way it’ll reliably clear condis off you is if you stay in it, which makes you a nice, fat, juicy target for a power damage player.
Now the heal is fine in PvE but in PvP it’s competing with litany for our worst possible heal. Now don’t get me wrong it can do far better than expected, but it is still no where near Shelter or Healing Breeze. The condi removal from it is too slow to work reliably and for sustained fights its not much of an enhancement over purity. The most important thing is that heal has such a long cast time, you might as well ask them to interrupt you.
Personally I find the best build for a start-up guardian in PvP is a 2h damage build, either gs or hammer and a staff. 0/1/6/6/1 with zerk amulet, soldier rune (strength if you want more damage but soldier is much better for starting out, good survivability) and then sigil of air and battle on both sets. If you know you’ll be in team fights most of the time then fire is better, but with hot joins and yolo q what they are this is a rare guarantee.
However with hammer and gs as the two weapons it really is going to hamper you a bit. For one I don’t really see the point in AH. AH is great with staff for that empower but with gs and hammer the majority of your boons come from symbols, and good players rarely stand still so that boon application is unreliable at best.
But the best bet I could say with those weapons (never tried hammer/gs outside of PvE myself) would be zerk amy with runes of the soldier, air and battle (maybe purity or generosity if you are really worried) and then 0/1/6/6/1 with purity, retributive armor and maybe glacial hits, or take that last point out and put it either into blind exposure or MAYBE vengeful? Then superior aria, two-handed mastery (I mean that one is a definite with those weapon choices) and then pure of voice so you have heavy condi clears with the soldier-PoV combo.
For skills, shelter (that block is going to be a major boon for you starting out and its without a doubt our best all-around heal) then hold the line, stand your ground (this shout is like the single best utility in the game lol) and save yourself (great team support). Finally, renewed focus (are there any other elites?)
The reason you aren’t seeing any real high damage coming from the necromancer in your combat log is because most MM necroes utilize condition damage to deal the bulk of your damage. And if you are not clearing those condis off you are going to be burning down particularly fast, no matter how many blocks you pop. (since condis damage through blocks, including Shelter and Renewed Focus) Condition damage does not show (unfortunately) in the combat log.
Guardians are easily one of the best bunkers in the game. I run staff/mace +shield (sometimes focus too) so I can hold off a lot of damage with well placed lines of warding then kiting the enemy through it or mace 3 (all praise the lord mace 3) which when timed correctly can absorb even the best of spikes. Shield 5 also gives me breathing room while blocking damage from enemies trying to range me.
As for conditions the key is to not cleanse them too early. One stack of bleeding is barely noticeable and its generally better to save the shout cleanse for when the stack is a bit higher, at least 7 or so. Shelter can give you a great 2 seconds of block (I run healing breeze now but shelter is definitely the better all-arounder).
The general gist is to make sure you dodge the spikes such as killshot (in general, if your target leaps into the air you might want to dodge roll) and block as frequently as you can. If you need health pop a virtue or shout. Only use renewed focus as a last resort, using it may lead to your point getting decapped.
Yeah triple meditation is the way to go, it can generally deal enough damage (and fast enough) to catch most players off guard. Personally I find guardian to be one of the weaker 1v1 classes but our team support is just so friggin good I’d never complain. That said I’ve done alright in 1v1 scenarios running a ranged damage build for guardian and I still have a hard time believing that lol.
My thoughts, having tried your triple meditation build on your old post (I rarely run triple med so while I do have my own build now too it’s hardly streamlined) I will say I wasn’t all that thrilled with Rage sigil. While sure it does some really great stuff it only gives you what, 3 seconds of quickness and then you have to wait 30 seconds before it can proc again? That’s not a lot of uptime on it. So that’s why I’ve started staying away from it.
[EDIT] Sorry been awhile since I used it so I don’t remember the cd off hand but either way I said still stands, its a long cd so you only get a small amount out of it.
(edited by Shepherd.5839)
MM Necroes don’t seem to be anywhere near where they use to be at. That said they are very difficult to 1v1, since its really not an even fight with all that incoming minion damage and the support they give the necromancer. That build really falls apart in team arena though, once you get two or three people on them those minions are going to go down from unintentional cleave real fast.
My best recommendation is to make sure to cleanse conditions once they start getting high, not before, and to drop as much AoE as you can right on top of the necromancer.
I would love to see what you’ve been running lately, been messing around with some builds myself. Also curious what do you think of healing breeze? Personally it works better for my team than shelter (though it is easier to interrupt) and I was curious what your thoughts are on the heal. Shelter definitely seems the best all-around heal choice but do you ever run breeze?
Man this just keeps getting better and better haha. Thanks for the info Karizee.
Yeah Karizee summed it up well. I’ve been mostly paying for mine out of pocket which has been a bit of a nightmare so hearing about this is pretty awesome, though obviously that’s a fair amount of gold per day. One thing I don’t know, if you wait a week and a half into that grace period and then buy a day, does the grace period start all over again even if it was just one day? Cuz that would be pretty sweet just in case I ever have trouble finding the funds
not sure if this is the right forum for this but in reference to being able to buy arena time tokens with gold….
I love you.
That is all.
Mine would either be winning a solo arena 500 – 499 with a last minute 25 point comeback or more likely the match on temple where my team and I went from 150 points behind to winning by 7 with a lucky tranquility and stillness cap followed by a slow bleed into far preventing the cap. That was pretty awesome.
On a side note one of my teammates won a match 503 – 500 so I mean, that must have been pretty awesome xD.
Yeah so bump to this again it has been a month. Despite the existence of China I would like to add that the old regions still exist too. This is a minor issue I suppose but really, this should be an easy fix. Have the unlock skin option added to the book and make it unlock the koss skin. Simple. So why hasn’t this been done? Why has there been so few bugs adressed from a patch almost two months behind us?
I’m going to be honest I can understand the hate. I mean I’m a pvp player and Guild Wars 2 pvp is some of the best I’ve played in my opinion. But at the same time I can easily see where hate would come from.
For one Anet rolled out a major April 15th patch and then, as they themselves said, abandoned the EU and NA communities to focus on the China release. And now even after the Chinese release we see a festival of the four winds release… and the bugs from the previous patch are still unattended to. What Anet could do to really try and help their public appearance would be to stop releasing so much content so quickly and instead make sure their releases are actually polished. I still have an item with no skin unlock, getting close to two months later now. So I mean, if they actually started working on outstanding bugs that would go a long way to improving I believe.
For PvE players there are plenty of reasons to complain as well as PvE has seen very little serious new additions outside of world events. We still have only the eight dungeons we started with plus now fractals which while more challenging have certainly gotten old fast. Not too mention the rewards from them are lack luster at best. I mean in the 15+ Triple Trouble wurm drops I’ve only received one reward worth mentioning (ascended helm) and that encounter is not easy to do.
WvW? Well Tarnished Coast and Jade Quarry are happy but anyone from Blackgate has as much reason to be mad at Guild Wars 2. After all they lost the season to match manipulation and having literally no chance at winning in a 1v2 situation. So obviously that sort of helplessness can foster plenty of anger, especially when the match manipulating goes against the code of conduct and is illegal in any sporting event. So the fact that they ignored it completely doesn’t foster good company-player relationships.
Overall Guild Wars 2 is still one of my favorite games, but Wildstar’s best hope for stealing my game time is the fact that for the past month there has been a definite sense of Anet abandoning its existing player bases for China. So that is a bit tasteless. PvP reward tracks were nice tho xD.
Honestly what I’ve learned most from the current release is that megaservers were a poor idea, certainly as an only option. I would love to see a megaservers option so that people could seek those larger groups if they want.
However right now I’ve never even seen silver reward on Boss Blitz in over ten attempts, severally of them where a large concerted effort was made to try and organize but simply not enough people listened and far too many piled onto one boss making it scale up far too much to kill.
What this made me realize was just how much the megaservers ruined. Content like this is now barred to only guilds, it really is. I remember in the last few hours of the Battle of Lion’s Arch us on Blackgate managed to get Six Minutes to Knightfall. What guild was running this attempt? No guild just Blackgate and the people that guested there. How could a server full of pugs accomplish such a feat? Well it was the community on Blackgate and its reputation. Those of us from Blackgate really wanted to succeed at all these big events and put in the effort, and listened to good commanders, to accomplish these things.
Additionally many knew about this fact about Blackgate and for every person who guested over to get a free achievement there were at least two who guested over to actually try and work together to accomplish this. Now with megaservers all the people, dedicated and otherwise are lumped together. With no dedicated community either many people don’t feel the same connection to the people around them to actually try and give it their all either.
To be honest, it isn’t some Blackgate elitism that makes me post this. After all, I’d be a fool to think we accomplished what we did on our own. When we got the NA first wurm kill many of the people there were guests from different servers. Why I post this is because I miss getting the chance to actually beat this content. Looking forward I cannot see a point to any more of this great and challenging large scale pve content. From my experience the megaservers have set us so far back in progress and our ability to beat this content that there is no point to release anymore.
I may be a part of a large pve guild that can handle this content, but I miss the days we could just show up and have a good shot at beating it because of our strong community and the guests that supported us.
So please, please remember the players who aren’t from China again. Give us a chance again and give us back our main servers. Megaservers have their pluses, but with them the only option then the world content has been destroyed.
Actually the Mad King’s outfit is not gendered so I only had the wintersday one before. But thanks for pointing that out. Still glad the asuran females got this version of the set though. I like the look.
Can I just say, I think its pretty awesome that the female asurans get the female version of the outfit. I think it actually works out really well so please don’t change this ^ ^
Okay just gonna say it doesn’t really make sense for the server time to be set (at least in NA) to a time zone that is not in NA. I mean its North American servers should it not be using a time zone that is actually IN North America, at least somewhere?
But hey maybe I’m just complaining because they really screwed up one of my guild’s events because we had it scheduled for server time and then they changed it without warning ahead of time. Little bit poor choice there but I suppose the actual time zone doesn’t matter TOO much just wish they had warned us ahead of time.
snip
Same thing. Either you have match manipulation or you don’t. Either all 2v1 counts or not. You can’t have an exception. If you do then what is consider an exception? If said server getting 2v1 is when 2v1 is bad? One point or one server is the same. Objectively speaking it is all to achieve the same goal.
If it is manipulating rating then I would say transfers are the biggest offenders of match manipulation. This can be through guilds allied with each other on their previous server and decide together to move somewhere to win.
And you agree working with existing system. 2v1 is one of them. It is WvWvW for a reason not WvW (1v1) . You are talking to your friends on to work together to accomplish something. Just happens your friends are on another said server. On top of that the results are based on keeping the 2v1. Even if it isn’t discussed you wouldn’t want to win say 3 times in a row cause that means you are now the focus of the 2v1. Nobody in their right minds would do that. No commander or server leader would do that.
The rule 22 only applies to sPvP not WvW. It isn’t about if I’m in sPvP. It is about the match. sPvP matches don’t start unless I join them. Whereas, WvW is constant. Right now a match is occurring. Therefore, if you invoke rule 22 on WvW it must apply now regardless since the match is in progress.
As you can see rule 22 doesn’t apply. WvW is never meant to be fair. If you want fair maybe something like this: lock all BLs at 100 people on each side.
Okay I guess you did not understand my original answer to you. Match-fixing is working with another party to deliberately set up results to your personal choosing. So If every week is a match for WvW then to be deliberately manipulating the match would be making efforts to determine not through skill or gameplay but pre-planning, in coordination with another server, exactly who would be in what position at the end of the week. Saying, hey lets all take out that keep over there and then we can start murdering each other again is not determining the end results of the week or match, it is merely coming together to determine the outcome of a single point at a single period of time. There is a difference though I AM sure you will still say otherwise.
Second I DID say working within the system. That is correct. Using external communication such as teamspeak to coordinate the actions of two servers in a borderlands is not working within the system it is in fact working without. Contrary to popular belief the program Teamspeak is NOT an ArenaNet program. What a surprise, I know right?
Once again server transfers isn’t manipulating. You are deciding you want to move to a new server for whatever reasons but you have no guarantees (and you yourself cannot guarantee) that it will mean you win. You won’t find out till it’s over. And no matter how many you transfer over you still can only get that certain amount in and having more than that just means how long your queues are.
So you aren’t breaking the code of conduct with sPvP because you didn’t choose to enter an sPvP match? I thought that was what I said with WvW but I guess I’ll explain it again. There is clearly a button to enter the mists. I can choose to click it… or just not go there. Therefore I have a deliberate choice to either enter WvW or not. So yeah, not breaking code by not coming in. Also it is VERY funny that the counter to the argument of match-manipulation in WvW is “you guys not coming to the borderlands is breaking code 1 by ruining my gameplay.” I hardly think rule 1 is going to apply to WvW in that way BUT since you insist, the other servers purposely fixing match results is ruining my gameplay so they are all in violation of the code of conduct. Does that sound better? I doubt it.
Also to that last bit they let an even number of people in from all three servers, no server has a higher pop cap than the others, so not sure what you meant there. Sounds like aside from guild-specific blocking (which doesn’t make sense, guilds trying to win with their guild members from the same server is exactly what wvw is. You do know we are discussing two servers rigging the weekly matchups together right?) your suggestion already exists, i.e. even pop caps.
I heard people here blabbing about match manipulation.
So one server give up because they are no match and let the other 2 server PPT as much as possible is match manipulation? When SoS and BG destined to faceroll Mag and Db and FORCE them to 5th and 6th, is it not match manipulation?Stop making excuses.
Just say it out load BG, you want to be TOP and faceroll everyone right?
You want other servers to be idiotic and get your deserved first reward right?
I never see so much complaint and using code of conduct excuses before when the match result of the lower server is heavily manipulated by the stronger servers, but this time BG got manipulated once and they cry so loud.Just adding a side note, you so called match fix-up is simply just we focus on taking BG stuffs, which is just like you taking everything from Mag and DB, there’s no difference.
The players are the ones who decide the assault, and they decide to take a short break so that they did not assault as much as they suppose to, that’s a breach of conduct?
Please read the thread before responding. What we are discussing here is not taking a break from fighting one server to fight another. It’s not even two servers happening to attack the one server’s side at the sametime. It’s very intentional teamwork for the long term goal of changing the overall rankings in the season 2 ladder. Like I said in the OP I can give you screenshots of a zerg from one server capturing a tower while forces from the third server camp our bodies and just let them take it. That is because it was decided that server would only get 2nd that week so they mostly cleared us out so the other could cap.
Also I would like to remind people AGAIN that we are not allowed to discuss particular match-ups and in all probability it is an infraction to do so. AGAIN I caution you to not use particular server names/match-ups in this post.
Lets look at the so called rule:
While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.
There can’t be an exception so in your case. Either it is or it isn’t. If temporary working to achieve a single goal (hitting a WP) is fine then doing it constantly is fine. If temporary is not ok then constantly is not ok. The rule doesn’t have exceptions so neither should your cases. It is either one way or the other you can’t have it both. Therefore, either 2v1 has existed for a very long time and it is not ok. Or it is ok and it is just the nature of WvW. As for temporary one can say the 2v1 is temporary just for S2.
Does transfers count as match manipulation? What if I and a bunch of other guilds who I’m friends with decided to mass transfer before S2 to say bronze league and stack it for an easy win. Does it count? Why is it only 2v1? Servers in a 2v1 still have to work to 2v1 something. In the same way groups of people stacking a server still has to work to win. Same thing.
On top of that the rule does say to include “disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches” . I would say said server that is getting 2v1 is breaking this rule since they aren’t going in WvW even though they are online. I have seen said guilds in EotM and such. And there are people from said server that specifically stated they will not join WvW because of “2v1” . I would say these individuals should be punished since they are breaking rule 22 and ruining my experience in this WvW match since it is boring with no fights. And said server showed up in numbers and force the day before. On top of that how about people that only participate during W1 and they don’t participate in any other week. They still get chest rewards and S2 rewards. Isn’t that against rule 22 since they are leeching rewards?
As you can see this rule doesn’t apply to WvW because if it doesn’t apply to things like leeching or not actively participating which is against rule 22. For sPvP this applies when someone afks a match and such.
First off working together to take down a keep or camp etc isn’t the same as rigging the whole season. In the end you are both attempting to win, you are merely joining forces to take down one point harming both of you. This is not fixing a week by agreeing that one server will come in second and the other will come in first etc. That is match-fixing. The thing here is temporary alliances versus permanent alliances. A permanent alliance is attempting to manipulate the ratings and result of a match whereas the temporary alliance to take the keep is simply setting out to take out a keep, not rig the end result.
Second, do server transfers count as manipulation? So you know there is a population cap on the borderlands right? Of course it’s not manipulation, you are all still restricted to the overall cap of the map. And you also can’t play around the clock for a full week so you may be an awesome group of friends but you can’t win the week by yourself. You are simply getting your friends to your server so you can all work together through the existing systems to accomplish a goal.
Third it says not actively participating in matches. If you aren’t playing WvW you aren’t participating in matches at all, actively or otherwise. Actively implies that you aren’t afking in the match. If you aren’t in structured pvp are you violating the code of conduct? Do we all need to immediately jump into a match? Of course not. However match-fixing is not something you can do unintentionally. I have in fact not contradicted myself but I’m glad I got a chance to elaborate further.
I’d also like to add that I highly doubt a clearly competent company like Arena Net would want match-fixing to occur in their game. It doesn’t really mean good things for the longevity of a game where there is no reason to be on any server but the ones that are teaming up (since the one losing cannot possibly win, whereas currently there are well known dominant servers but at least the other servers COULD match their numbers if they got more players). I mean why bother playing if you cannot possibly win? And if there is no reason to play then why bother paying?
Also for the record yes I am from Blackgate yeah it does seem obvious. But I’ve been in Blackgate since beta so yeah didn’t switch over for the win. Honestly wouldn’t care if we were losing if it wasn’t in a fight that we actually cannot possibly change whether we show up with full numbers or not at all. Doesn’t matter how many players we have.
