How modifiable is Guild Wars 2?

I played around with this a few months ago. It’s a really cool idea, but when it does work, it doesn’t work particularly well (with the exception of Battle and Boss Battle, they were pretty awesome) and half of it just doesn’t work at all. Crafting and Defeated playlists for example.

I also think KISS off of gunnars hold is worth a mention here, I’ve seen them handle 70man blobs with 20 rather casually

Are you seriously telling me they’ve changed much from this?

I’d say as far as organized Guilds it would be BuLL, GD, RG, Scnd and VII to name a couple.

Nope. From what I’ve seen of them recently I’d say that video pretty much sums them up.

Join a handful of the rest of us who’s dailies and all the things associated with it, such as, ectoplasmic crafting and chests from world bosses and dungeons, are screwed. Can’t get rewarded for doing most the things I like doing since my daily hasn’t reset since the feature patch dropped.

TESO WvW equivalent is not as fun IMO. It feels kind okittenward. The map change would be a cool idea, but I like waypoints. There should simply be no “window” while it is being sieges.

If there was no window whilst it was being attacked, then all the time and effort someone went through upgrading that keep would go to waste when 1 sod could keep running up to your gate and hitting it thus making the waypoint completely useless. To be honest the time the waypoint is open when under attack is minimal anyway. The other day my internet was playing up and my attempt to waypoint into a keep under seige was met with a load screen and a trip to my homebase instead.

So you complete the reward track 3 times to get all the dungeon armour? This would take absolutely no time at all to do, especially when you compare it to the amount of time it’d take you to earn enough dungeon tokens to buy it by running the dungeon.

This is clearly not a bug and more poor wording in the description.

Again, this view of it is ignoring the rate at which weapons are acquired. The reward tracks are giving 3 weapons per piece of armor. Weapons are more costly than armor is, and that’s the biggest argument for this being not working as intended.

Then they should remove some of the weapon rewards. It seems that everyone wants everything for nothing in this game.

Seriously guys, for the love of God, stop QQing about the slight damage reduction you’ve received.
Regardless of whether you were using the gear in PvE or WvW you were using it because it did the most DPS. Guess what, it still does the most DPS.
The only difference….oh noes, now sometimes I might have to throw 1 or 2 more attacks than I used to, to down a person.

For some builds it is more than slight. For example, a hidden killer thief who runs valk armor and zerk trinkets will notice up to a 30% drop in damage. “But power is unaffected!” Builds like a Hidden Killer thief that rely heavily on critical damage might as well consider crit damage their actual damage since the moves you want to crit most should always crit. That being said, the drop is more than 10% easily.

I’m aware of this and to quite frank. Good. The “hidden thief killer” deserved a nerf. It’s kind of bull that a class can stealth, sneak up on somebody and practically instakill them before they even know they’re being attacked.
The fact remains that this build relies heavily on burst damage and the best way to get this burst damage is still using the same builds.
Also, losing 30% from your crit damage stat is nowhere near losing 30% damage overall, regardless of the fact they crit with nearly every attack. That’s just really bad maths. I can’t be bothered to look up the numbers a build like this would have had and now does have, but I would imagine that none of these builds are losing any more than 15% at most.

I sure hope this is a bug/not working as intended.

I like my mix-n-match amrour sets and often had people asking me to “ping” my gear to them, which of course is completely pointless now as it’s taking it’s name from the ascended set I crafted as opposed to it’s appearance, and thus is of no help to anyone interested in my look.

Also I don’t particularly like Zojja so I’m not keen on having her name plastered across my gear.

Remove WvW from map completion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ShibVicious.9681

ShibVicious.9681

also add to that that dedicated Pvp areas are not added to World completion and that only supports my opinion that WvW should not be counted for Map completion either
specially since PvP maps contain unique areas while WvW contains 3 maps that are near perfect clones of one another..

In WvW you take the gear and items you have from PvE with you in order to take part. Whilst in PvP you are levelled up to 80 and given access to everything you need for free, as opposed to being upscaled based on your gear. This makes the PvP seem like a seperate entity and thus shouldn’t be included in the map completion, whilst WvW keeps that connection to WvW.

Despite how much of a pain in the kitten it was to complete those maps (which I did back in a time when I despised WvW) I don’t think they should be removed from the map completion. I also don’t think PvP should be added to it. I do however agree with what someone posted earlier that Dungeons should count towards it because these things share a link with the PvE part of the game.

I hope this is not under your control

Yet when the city was being razed to the ground and we were doing all we could to save as many of the citizens of Lions Arch, she sat safe and sound aboard her airship only coming down to get out Magnus, a full 5 minutes before they gave the order to evacuate.
Meaning of course, that she had sod off and was probably sipping tea whilst we (those of us who were not close enough to an asura gate come the eventual call for evacuation) were left choking to death on toxic fumes.

Not through the wardrobe system.

However legendaries are becoming account bound so you can swap your Twilight across. Ascended gear is also being made account bound, so if your armour is ascended then yes you can also swap that,if not, you’ll have to make do with reskinning another armour set with the look you want.

You have the crystals and stones the wrong way around. Crystals are for level 80 gear and have a conversion rate of 1:1 with suggests that the Stones (being the lesser version) rate of 3:1 is also the opposite way around to what you’ve said. so 50 stones will infact only give you 16 charges.

1:1 Stones (The 79 and lower Transmutes)
3:1 Crystals (The 80 Transmutes)
5:1 Splitters

100 Stones = 100 Charges
50 Crystals = 150 Charges
5 Splitters = 25 Charges

There, fixed, and still equals 275.

The rates of conversion are:

1:1 Crystals (The 79 and lower Transmutes)
3:1 Stones (The 80 Transmutes)
5:1 Splitters

[Edit]: So if you have 100 crystals, 50 stones, and 5 splitters, you’ll end up with 275 Transmutation charges.

100 Crystals = 100 Charges
50 Stones = 150 Charges
5 Splitters = 25 Charges

You have the crystals and stones the wrong way around. Crystals are for level 80 gear and have a conversion rate of 1:1 with suggests that the Stones (being the lesser version) rate of 3:1 is also the opposite way around to what you’ve said. so 50 stones will infact only give you 16 charges.

Whilst I’m one of those people that doesn’t particularly like Trahearne, I do want to see him return in LS Season 2. He’s too important a character to overlook.
I would like to see a little change in his character though, he has had a successful campaign in Orr, and has an elder dragon kill under his belt, so I’d like to see a more confident and pro-active Trahearne.
One of the things that annoyed me so much about him in the PS, is that he was supposed to be running the show, yet I seemed to be doing all the strategizing and executing of all the plans. So if LS Season 2 plays out anything like the first season, that’d already be an improvement on Trahearne as there won’t be those decisions to make. He’ll tell us what needs to be done the way a real leader should, and we’ll do it the way us Heroes do.

Season 1 | Lack of Major Male Characters!

in Living World

Posted by: ShibVicious.9681

ShibVicious.9681

Sigh. The fact of the matter is the thread is about an inequality amongst the characters in Guild Wars 2 not the video game industry as a whole. Which means your “peer reviewed research articles from a gender-issues focused journal” mean diddly-squat.
Especially seeing as there was no reason what-so-ever to throw them out there anyways, because EVERYBODY already knows that there are more male characters in video games as a whole, you don’t need a questionable research article to get that point across.

Also if you read the OP, whilst he does point out that there are more female characters, his main problem is that he feels the male characters suck, and that he’d be happy with SOME good male characters. Not that he’d be happy if we oversaturated the game with male characters.

Season 1 | Lack of Major Male Characters!

in Living World

Posted by: ShibVicious.9681

ShibVicious.9681

Mmm let’s see, from the research article posted above
The 60 video games yielded a total of 489 separate characters with an identifiable sex for coding. Chi-square analyses indicated that female characters (n?=?70) were underrepresented in comparison to their male counterparts (n?=?419)
That’s 85,6% male leads and 14,4% female leads.

and of course because somebody wrote it down on a peice of paper it must be a fantastic report and obviously 100% gospel worthy. Though if they’ve actually taken there figures from the 20 Top selling games well then you’d be aware that a handful of them are sporting games (I highly imagine not counted), and another large portion of them are war games. In which usually you play as a highly trained special ops team, and guess what? These are predominantly (if not entirely) made up of men.

In short, throwing links at debates? doesn’t make your points any more valid, especially when what you are saying is a counter to someone that is practically pointing out the definition of equality.

ShibVicious.9681

When you bare in mind that they didn’t (I assume were unable to) even keep a undestroyed version of LA running alongside this LS version, for the story instances that take place in it, the idea of them running 2 different versions of Orr at the same time (especially as it’s larger and so much more goes on there) doesn’t seem feasible.

Also how would they implement this? If my Orr maps are different because I’ve finished the story on my character, then I wouldn’t be able to play in the same Orr maps with friends that haven’t finished the story. It’s not like they’d instance the 3 maps that make up Orr.

If they could find a way to do it, I’d love that, as it does annoy me some what that even though I teared through Zhaitans armies and went on to kill him there are swarms of risen controlling the place. But theres no way (I can think of) in which they can do this whilst keeping it accessible to everyone.

I doubt it. His Wyld Hunt is done. His story has concluded. He can spend the rest of his days relaxing on the beaches of Orr while it slowly returns to life.

I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t return. After all he is the leader of the Pact. The Pact was put together for the sole purpose of killing the Elder Dragons, and an Elder Dragon has just awoken and is likely going to be our enemy in the next season.

If we are going to be battling an Elder Dragon and Trahearne isn’t involved in some way, shape or form then there is absolutely no hope for the story writers at anet.
A character as important as him can’t just disappear off the face of the world, no matter how much the players wish for it.

If it’s useless it means it’s useless and you shouldn’t have to use it. So is it useless or not? Because I’m constantly reading that defensive stats are useless. Was it always a hyperbole? I don’t like using hyperboles in serious discussions.

Toughness and Vitality are by no means useless stats, the problem is by taking gear that has them you greatly reduce your dps, as you will very rarely crit and when you do you do practically no extra damage, and seeing as most of pve ultimately comes down to fighting enemies that deal large spike damage as opposed to sustained damage, it makes more sense to kill them quicker so they don’t get to hit you with it as often.
However as I mentioned you can’t crit world bosses, making the precision/crit damage on berserkers gear more “useless” in those situations than having that extra survivability that will keep you in the fight for longer.

It’s the end of this season of the living story. There is more to come, and like most things that have multiple seasons, it’s likely to pick up where it left off. What reason do you have to think that Mai Trin or Caithe will have no part in the second season? Knights are not world bosses. I was replying to a comment specifcally about the usefulness of bringing berserker gear to world boss fights.

Seeing as I’m pretty darn sure you can’t crit world bosses like Tequatl, yes you are a dead weight in zerkers gear. 2 of the 3 stats that gear offers you are rendered useless.

But haven’t we all heard that vitality and toughness were useless?

In a situation where you can’t score critical hits, I genuinely do not see a downside to being able to deal the exact same amount of damage whilst also having a significant increase to both your armor rating and health pool.

Large group of people rush the knight. All those wonderful zerker characters that do tons of damage run in, get swinging there swords and sure, they’re putting up some big numbers. Good job. Problem. 20 seconds later. Half of them are dead. One attack and poof, all lying on their backs, perma’d and begging for a res, instead of wp and running back.
In contrast, I’m running knights gear. Sure I don’t hit as hard, but I don’t die as soon as I’m hit. My increased survivability means that ultimately I’m out damaging a large number of these zerker characters because I’m constantly damaging the knight throughout the encounter, as opposed to throwing down some mad spike damage at the start and then nothing else for the remainder.

Disrupting the flow of magic doesn’t necessarily mean preventing it from being absorbed by the dragon. I think it’s more likely that she disrupted the leylines that weren’t leading towards to dragon, thus forcing the magic down the ones that did. Hence “feeding” the Dragon quicker.
