The blade shard vendor is a huge letdown. First was the “save your shards, you can get stuff for them” comment only for “a green or better” (meaning a green) after months.

Yep, I do agree with this. They sounded so mysterious about this merchant and commented on how we could exchange them with “neat stuff” and yeah… I was expecting cool stuff. Then again I can always keep them and make more ascended back pieces, I guess.

I traded in over 9000 shards.

I got 1 rare, one exotic, and the rest green.

Huge disappointment seeing as these things took up a ton of room in my bank for a couple months.

The yak race i dont think is fun, the crystal hunt is a giant Meh.

All in all this event is a huge letdown for me. The only thing i can say about it that’s positive is at least it gives me a vector to get the scelerite karka shell, even if its a big unfun grind to get it.

Without a noticeable increase in loot, i fear that a couple things will happen:

1) When i achieve my metachievement, i’ll have no incentive to run the pavillion (as i can make the same amoutn of loot even in a gold chest in about 1/20th of the time)

2) so will everyone else, and thus no one will do it.

The mobs should drop loot. At least have the bosses drop a chest.

Also the mobs are not counting for daily kill tally. That’s super irritating too.

Getting bored with it, frankly.

I’m on Sea of Sorrows, which vacillates between T1 and T2. When we’re in T2 we win, hands down, usually by a margin of 150%. When we’re in T1, we get wrecked, usually with a score 50% of the leaders.

It would be much more interesting if i couldn’t predict with 100% accuracy the outcome of every week’s match.

Allow 2nd set of weapon for ele/engi ooc ?

Ele’s don’t need a second weapon. Each weapon set they currently equip is kinda like having 4 weapons.

That doesn’t need to be multiplied to 8, nor does that need to be cut in half to accomodate a secondary weapon kit either.

Keep ele’s the same pls. Can’t speak for engi’s, i only played them a short while.

Learn to read kitty.

This is about out of combat switching for inventory management.

Easy there. No need to be rude about it. I misinterpreted a couple of the posts.

Settle down.

I will say this about megaservers: it has ROYALLY pooched the way that the PVE world train is handled, and has made taking down Teq and Tri-wurm a lot harder to organize.

It’s been good for some things too, but i miss the days of following a big ’ol PVE money train around without having to try to hot join on a friend (let alone get into my guilds Teq map without sitting there for, i kitten you not, half an hour spamming hot join on someone in my party already there because the map is full.

On the supposed issue of endgame

Shinavast.1328

Hey this is my first post on the forums and it’s for an issue that’s bugged for a long time now.

The main complaint about guild wars 2’s “failure”. Is it’s lack of endgame content.

I’d like to ask the question, what is endgame content. I believe gw2 has the most satisfying endgame content I’ve seen. Most other games have grinds endgame content, I.e. Getting mounts, raids etc.

Why are these supposedly better than gw2? We have tried to stray away from all grind and we are punished for it. After the community begged for endgame content a slight gear grind was released, yet there was huge backlash against it. If you want to grind for cosmetics, there are dungeons and minis to collect. If you want pvp content there are tons of it?

What do you want?

to me, endgame doesnt mean grind, it means a set of goals and things to achieve while playing at a high level. however people want to be rewarded for it. What that reward should be is debateable.

For example, in WoW people say the end game is chasing a carrot, but thats not really true, the carrot, is merely the guide, the endgame is a series of progressively harder dungeons. Essentially they use the carrot to incentivize you to do the classic beat a level and go to the next one game mechanic, which i honestly never had a problem with (main issue if the number of times you may have to beat the same level to proceed)

The point is, GW2 has few real goals/systems in place to encourage people to play once they have all their skills, and favorite builds, there are few challenges, and goals at that point.
mostly its FOTM, Arah path and… as far as goals, its legendary.

That endgame of harder dungeons sound like fractals to me. I just can’t see what we are missing besides grind :/

The problem with fractals is that there isn’t enough variety (honestly even as you progress up the difficulty ladder, it’s just the inclusion of some new mechanics), and the current way progression is handled is more than a little boring.

It’s a little dissapointing that the main barrier to the so called “high end – endgame” – meaning fractals of high level, is an arbitrary delimiter like agony resist, and not something that is based on actual skill.

The poster directly above me also has a good point : for the 30-45 minutes i put into a high level fractal, i can make more money and loot putting the same time into EOTM, queensdale, or frostgorge.

I already have a bucket of ascended rings i can’t use, and the other ascended gear drops rarely enough that it is faster and easier to simply craft what i want rather than wait for it to drop.

That’s the problem with calling fractals endgame.

Any advice for leveling?

in Thief

Shinavast.1328

The best advice for leveling i can give is find whatever damage build you like playing, and get gear with the offensive stat that plays to that, with vitality also somewhere in the mix on gear. For a long while (like level 35-60) i tried to go it with just offensive stat gear, and when i switched over (first to toughness tiertiary, then vitality)….

It was a whole new ball game. Certain areas i was struggling with became much easier.

Past that, try out all the thief offensive weapon loadouts, and try to get comfortable with as many as you like to play. They all have something to offer in some situation. In particular learning the ins and outs of shortbow is a must. Its a life saver in certain dungeons and in pvp – also very useful as well against some open pve boss mobs. You can cater to which others you like (i switch from D/D and Sw/P – though i do kind of like P/P occasionally too).

The more weapon loadouts you’re comfortable with the more you can shake things up.

Annoying Pistol Whip (PVP)

By itself, yes, pistolwhip is pretty easy to escape. Coupled with other skills (and add quickness into the mix), and your opponent pretty much has to have cc breaks off cooldown, or you’ll turn them into chunky salsa.

Warrior: Is it as easy as it looks? (PvE)

in Warrior

Shinavast.1328

From my perspective, after working up an engi and thief to 80…. the warrior is leaps and bounds easier than either of those.

YMMV, but that’s my experience. I thought GS/rifle main loadout was easy, until i switched to dual axes….

… and almost fell out of my chair as my 21st level warrior is doing half the damage my 80th level engi pulls.

Warrior thus far has been the easiest toon to level up (full disclosure, haven’t messed with ranger or necro much, and the other classes are only in teens to 20’s).

Norn Thieves- Dude what?

Not all people in a society buy into the whole honor thing.

E.g. – Ronin, ninja in samurai period japan, etc.

Also, thief is an unfortunate moniker. I wish they’d gone with “rogue” (generic, sure, but i think a more accurate portrayal of the class, despite the whole “steal” mechanic).

Think of Norn thieves in that way, and your suspension of disbelief does just fine.
