Some kind of official response at this point would be more than appreciated Anet.
I have asked a few devs about this bug. all they said was ‘Sorry we can’t do anything,’ wouldn’t even dignify me with a ‘We are aware of the bug and plan on fixing it.’ Also reported the bug in-game and on the site.
It’s a bit ridiculous that I have to wait a week to get the last skill point I need to finish my legendary. I really hope this doesn’t end up like the POI in Plains of Ashford that was broken for several months. :/

Not to mention there are plenty of events in the open-world that are bugged out to the point that it either takes an hour to do them or they are completely kittened…
And all that’s keeping me from my next legendary is map completion at the moment, which is why I’m personally a little tweaked (it will probably take months to fix these things too going off past experience with these open-world bugs.)
The whole ‘invalid path’ thing is ridiculous honestly. Before the patch you couldn’t Lightning Flash to half of the places that you put it anyhow and it would go on CD without moving you. Now it’s just as bad on Guardian/Thief/Mesmer, half of the time because of some minor dip in the ground. But you can still Infiltrator’s Arrow up to a lot of the same kitten, so it’s like they just broke teleporting completely without fixing anything except for Shadowstepping back through walls. My whole guild is pretty annoyed by this, but we’re waiting to see when/how Anet fixes this.
already ded gaem, killing toypocalypse is just kittenting on the people that had any respect for this company.
Ultimately though, I think the problem with sustaining WvW populations comes down to three big things. One, lack of variety and wildcard elements each week to entertain people and make communities think about how they are going to fight that week. Two, inadequate loot that forces people to leave WvW so they can get the stuff they need to be more effective in it or to just keep themselves from going in the red in terms of Gold. And three, lack of getting that sense of prestige with titles that are mostly INSANELY time consuming to get or ranks that you can only really be showcase to enemy servers when you are in WvW against them.
While I do think a few of the other things you suggested were good ideas, such as giving you the option to show your name, more trait lines, and commander tags only for guild groups, your three points here are probably the most important.
I also like what people suggested about EotM being only available when maps are queue’d – EotM was only meant to be a waiting room but people just use it as a way to go around in circles and farm champs and levels. If Anet does to EotM what it did to Queensdale then will as many people do EotM? Probably not. They want easy money, easy loot, with little effort. My biggest problem is that WvW is not rewarding whatsoever, I get a bunch of bags that only occasionally give me items worth having. I wouldn’t mind long grinds in WvW if it meant I could choose a really cool reward with the tickets/badges I’ve earned, not just ascended (which most people in WvW already have plenty of.)

I’m new to WvW and GW2 so I didn’t put much thought into my server world. Now I’d like to play WvW but my home population seems very low and as such WvW is very boring. We seem to lose 80% of our zerg fights due to low numbers. Sometimes our biggest force is wiped out by a simple roaming squad.
I’m not the best player in the world so die very quickly if I break off from the group, I prefer zergs at the moment.
I know it’s cheap and cheesy, but I feel like transferring to the most dominant world and rolling the other 2 factions. Seems like you’d get more experience and world bonuses that way.
Any reason, besides cost, to not just transfer to the best server?
“Rolling” the other 2 servers because you have more numbers (normally your ‘#1’ server is going to be pulling more transfers than the other 2 servers) does not give you more ‘experience,’ it makes you lazy as a player because you’ll just be karma training and PvDing most of the time when the other servers avoid your massive blob. Anytime your #1 server can’t pull a blob they will probably get rolled, lol.
World bonuses are worthless imo. You want (nearly) guaranteed ascended drops? Go FotM every day. You want actual rewards? Go PvE. You want decent rewards with a PvP aspect? Go EotM or PvP.
Just…don’t transfer to NA T1. Seriously. TC is just ktraining all the time now that most of Mag and SoR have fled to TC (as well as they’ve had many EU transfers.) Most TC pugs are awful anyhow. BG hibernates outside of seasons (#Hibergate), and during season 3 they crushed JQ and TC hard. No clue what BG will be like once/if their players come back from their PvE/EotM farming off-season – if a majority of their players do come back I will expect them to roll everyone (#Beastgate). JQ had some guilds leave their server for T2 I believe, and half of TW took the chance to jump from BG to JQ and form their own division with Dods (TWL) to keep the server from getting totally rolled during NA/EU.
Not really sure what T2 is like anymore. Most of it seems pretty toxic from reading the gw2wvw.net forums. T3 is just 2 servers getting dominated by the T2 server that drops down (there are 4 servers that fit in T2 from what I’ve heard.)
I could be wrong about some of this but, as a NA T1 player, most of what I’ve said is what I’ve seen firsthand.
Whatever server is dominating T1 is dependent on how many guilds have died off due to NA T1 WvW dying and/or other games like AA being released. It’s also dependent on the number of transfers you’re getting to replace those guilds that have died or left gw2/your server. And of course it depends on which servers/guilds stop giving a kitten about WvW when it’s not seasons/tournament time.

stuff
snip garbage
It is Anet’s job to make roles like sentrying more rewarding if they’re expecting people to keep doing it after 2 years.
…fix condi damage (weak in big fights, OP in small ones).
Condi damage is fine in big fights. There are a few builds in smaller groups that can hurt a lot but if I have issues with it I’ll just run an extra condi cleanse. Only times I’ve had major issues with this is when a ranger/thief group stacks over a minute of immob on me repeatedly.
My suggestion: every enemy group of certain size, let’s say 10-20 players, is always shown on the map.
…
> Orange Swords at 10 again
Maybe 30+ people, 10-20 players can be easily wiped by havoc groups of 7.
OJs are fine at 20 people.
…
Unless they want to change the rules for WvW based on tier?
‘I want to move to a t1 server but I want to be on the server with all the ’good’ roamers’
Being on a US T1 server, this is probably the worst idea ever…
Seeing what people are saying about EU, it’s apparently like lower tier NA, and I can see this completely screwing over every tier. Yes, it will give the losing servers opportunities to try to snipe objectives. But the servers that already steam roll in their match-ups will mostly likely be able to provide many more scouts than their opponents due to population imbalance… And for those same servers that steam roll their match-ups, they will also be able to just karma train any battlegrounds they go to without any opposition, save the few towers/keeps (most likely keeps) that ARE being sentried. Whoever thought about this obviously didn’t flesh out the idea enough because this will only continue to imbalance WvW and provide more incentive for people to continue stacking Stackgate or whatever servers on EU that are the equivalent.
After the Adopt-a-Dev BS I would like to see a list of how many admins went to which servers and what content they were looking to get more perspective on.
Also, Berk is making many great points in this thread that devs should REALLY be reading.

If you want T1 SOLO roaming you’re not going to get what you’re expecting to get. As mentioned in this topic before, most people will bait you into 1vX as they’re almost always in a party with others. Roaming groups and solo roamers often run cheese no skill builds, are either extremely bad players or extremely good, and will kitten talk you in whisper then immediately block you regardless of whether the fight was fair. (My guild leader has a constantly expanding screenshot thread on his website of whispers he’s received in WvW from angry players.) If you want to see what T1 roaming is like, watch some Twitch streams (guilds like Veretta’s oPP do streaming often.) Nirvana and DemonCow both give good examples of what the current T1 servers are like (zerging and roaming wise) so if you transfer to a T1 server you will most likely end up joining a havoc guild or zerging guild, or both.
If you’re that insistent on T1, be prepared to get zerged, siege trolled and hit large queues during NA prime, then get zerged 10 more times because you killed 1 person (this happens regardless of the T1 server you’re on.)

Asking in this thread since I wasn’t sure where else to post, but is it bannable to for players to buy legendaries from third-party websites such as [site redacted by moderator]? I’m already sure the answer is yes, so do I report the player as Selling Gold or Scamming? The report options seem fairly limited for the amount of things that are bannable in GW2.

I’m looking for a guild to join that does tPvP/sPvP and sometimes dungeons, maybe even some WvW. I’m on Kaineng currently, but I plan on transferring once I get the opportunity. I’m fine with doing TS (I don’t really know how to use Vent so I’d need to be taught).
The main character I play is my thief, Jaspers Lalonde. I’m only rank 13 in PvP but I didn’t play it often until recently.
I ended up switching Afflicted for Melandru for a bit more survivability while I was still messing around with this, then Thieves Guild for my elite to mess with other players while I stay ranged with pistol.
I’m still playing around with this build until I find something that I like though, as I’ve tried d/d and s/d builds in pvp. S/d seems nice now that they fixed the 3 skill but even though I run d/d for pve I find I can’t use it in pvp very well.
Build I made in pvp to mess around with conditions (bleeds, cripples, and poison.)
I’m not the best at making builds so criticism is appreciated.
Opened just now in Kaineng.
I have a level 80 thief and I’m working on a mesmer. My original character was actually a mesmer but deleted it not long after the beta and rerolled with thief as mesmers get the kitten nerfed out of them and Anet hadn’t figured out what they were doing with mesmer at that point.
Thieves are typically more difficult to play as you are almost forced to go GC to do any significant damage in dungeons and WvW from what I’ve seen. It also makes you squishier than you would be normally. If someone actually does a lot of damage as a thief without going GC then that’s great, but I know quite a few players that are elitist-types and they’ve all spec’d for GC. My own thief is built around my personal play-style, so whenever I try to do dungeons I feel like more of a burden than anything when I can’t do a kittenload of damage in a few seconds, which is why I rerolled as a mesmer. My thief is still hella fun to play and I’ve sunk a lot of time and gold into it, but I wanted to have a character that didn’t require perfect timing and constant attention.
Thief and mesmer are a lot alike and very different. Mesmer, as one of my friends said, is like a magical thief. Thief is based on stealthing, critting and condition damage (poisons and bleeds), whereas mesmers may be built around shattering or phantasms (or condition damage with confusion, but I mainly see people talking about shatter/phantasm builds.) Both classes require a certain amount of evasion (thieves moreso than mesmers in my opinion because mesmers shoot kittening lazers out of their weapons instead of having to dance around enemies.)
Mesmers are apparently great dungeon runners. My aforementioned friend is very well known for constantly doing dungeons and leveled his mesmer to 80 in a few days just so he could do better in dungeons than he did with his necro (which took him 5 days to level – he’s a major elitist and likes his mesmer much more than his necro.) They don’t require the attention that thieves do though, which makes them a lot more appealing. Some people just enjoy rolling difficult classes, and I personally think thief was a lot easier to level and reach 100% map completion on than my mesmer. Thief and mesmer to me are like dervish and ritualist from GW1, which were my favorite two classes, just like thief and mesmer are my favorite classes in GW2. In the end it just depends on your preference though.
To me the thief profession has the most potential but because of underwhelming utilities such as traps and venoms, traits which trigger internal cooldowns or support the underwhelming utility skills and the unsynergistic weapon sets (P/P is the perfect example of this) it’s the profession which has to rely mostly on gimmicks which in response gets Anet to nerf the Thief over and over.
The problem with constantly nerfing the thief is 1) the nerfs totally miss the point or 2) they take away the only viable options for the thief to remain viable.
What I think needs to happen in order to fix these issues is a redesign of most thief traits, especially the ones that trigger internal cooldowns and a redesign of the weapon sets (not all the abilities need a redesign but there are weapon abilities which are clearly not worth using and which lack synergy in the weapon set).
This was one of the posts I agreed with the most, especially the part about needing a trait redesign and Anet’s nerfing.

I guess I’ll just wait until later to get back to Guild Wars. Thank you for your assistance though!

Stuff you don’t need to know:
I have owned a Vista for about 6 years and I know the system has more issues than it’s worth – usually I can find a way around issues or coax the program into working for me, either by running the program in compatibility mode or running it as admin. I have two Windows 7 computers which both have Guild Wars 2 on them and usually play with my mother or sister with no issues other than my firewall having a hissy fit occasionally. As I am at my grandma’s house though I am forced to use one of my two Vista laptops. I’d like to be able to do some of the Christmas events with my mom while I’m gone in case we don’t have time later.
Actual issue:
As I left my GW2 installation CD at my house, I’m using the Gw2Setup.exe. After the first 10 mb or so downloads it will disappear for a second, reappear and ask for permission to continue to install. After I allow it, the Guild Wars installation window stays still for a minute, then minimizes, and the program will seem to continue running, but as the icon stays the name next to it in the taskbar area disappears.
I’ve attached a picture of my system information, along with a useless picture of the program not working.
I have disabled my firewall and am running the program as an admin. I can also say the problem is not my internet connection.

I love WvW, though usually I just play PvE solo. The main character I play on is a level 80 thief, human. I love doing events and jumping puzzles (not that I’m any good at them). My server is Kaineng but I’d be willing to jump to a different one if I find a good guild, as the one I’m current in is comprised of my family and family friends (that of which aren’t very active.) The guild I’m looking for should have active members and wouldn’t be a huge guild, hopefully it’d have somewhere between 20 and 100 members. I am by no means a hardcore Guild Wars player so I’d probably need guidance here and there on certain things (I’m still learning about a lot of things, like I’ve never done a dungeon or used the Mystic Forge before.) As I’m a student there will be days that I cannot get on but I can promise it will be at least two or three times a week.
