It appears what happened was a krait in the last group before arriving at the tower did not spawn properly, it was still in the water and was yellow. If I attacked it would not take any damage (and would then apply the toxic water debuff on me).

I reset the mission and it’s now progressing.

In “Liberating Apatia” Trahearne gets stuck on the step “Fight your way into the krait tower.”

(If I try to talk to Trahearne he just says to stay clear of the water.)

I know ‘season 1’ of Living Story was all done as ‘live’ in-world events and I realize the amount of work I’m about to request.

It would be awesome if season 1 was ‘redone/remastered’ as instanced ‘episodes’ so players who didn’t get to see it (other than the recap NPC version) could enjoy it.

Obviously the large group events that were in it would need to be re-worked for single player/small groups.

In Guild Wars 1, there was a feature where you could save/load skill loadouts.

Now that Guild Wars 2 is getting more complex with the new mastery trait lines I think this feature needs to be brought back.

It’s somewhat tedious right now to switch between Ranger DPS and Druid Support. I gotta change 3 trait lines and 4 utility skills back and forth.

Right now, I have builds written down in text files so I know what to change but it would be great if I could just hit a load button and select my “Druid Support” build.

Doesn’t even have to include gear swaps.

Veteran entitlement mentality.

@Jongi.7612, it’s not so much a feeling of “entitlement” it’s a few things that ArenaNet has done here that they did not do in the past.

  • Guild Wars 1 had expansions that added HUGE amounts of content and features and were always priced about $10-20 below what the original game cost.
  • Heart of Thorns information, so far, is rather thin actually and sounds like a fairly minor expansion (I’d love to be wrong but based on information we have it seems very short on PvE story content, which, in an RPG, is what a lot of us want). It seems like $50 is a bit steep for what we’ve heard is in it. Especially based on previous ArenaNet expansion products.
  • ArenaNet did change the FAQ for HoT literally right before the pre-order offer was announced. So a lot of people did buy the core game, because the FAQ said it would be required only to find out that they just wasted some money (at least ArenaNet appears to be offering refunds on a case by case support basis.) In any case, this seems like… some sleazy tactics.
  • Veteran players with full slots don’t have a way to make a new character to enjoy some of the new stuff in the expansion unless they pay extra money for a character slot or one of the higher priced pre-order editions. While new players get 8 slots and the core game. Just seems kind of… disrepectful. It’s true a veteran player could create a second, new, account and use that but they aren’t linked in any way so it’s also kind of a pain in the behind.

In this list, it’s actually the first two that bother me personally. I’ll probably go ahead and buy HoT in the end if it ends up having some PvE story content. (If it’s just repeatable group events, there’s no way I’m paying $50 for that.) (Guild Housing etc is of no interest to me but I know some folks are into that.)

@Gaile, one thing that would be helpful is if the content of the expansion wasn’t so vague. If we’re getting TONS of stuff equal to say Nightfall was for Guild Wars 1 – might help us accept the pricing (well, some of us). Maybe if we really knew what the $50 (or more for the other editions) was getting us…

I definately think that a character slot or two for those that already own the core game would be a good move as well since the “free core game” really doesn’t act as an incentive if you’ve already got it… (I do think, for new players, it’s a great idea.)

Before you just assume that I’m just another player feeling “entitled”, hear me out.

I understand ArenaNet wants to make money. I do not have any problem with that.

I don’t have a problem spending money for content and things in games.
I bought all of the stuff for Guild Wars 1.
I’ve spent probably $200 on Guild Wars 2 over the past few years on various things.

My big problem is Heart of Thorns is being priced like it’s own stand alone game.

If it was, that would be fine.

If it has the same (or more) amount of story content as the original release of Guild Wars 2, that would be fine.

But, so far, depressingly little has been mentioned about story content. So far, it’s been housing (not interested in that), some new profession stuff (that’s somewhat cool), etc.

Typically, non stand-alone expansions for games usually retail for $20-30, not $50-100. In fact, Guild Wars 1 campaign expansions retailed for $29 and that was just fine!

I think that ArenaNet needs to have an “I already own Guild Wars 2” package.

At this time, I probably won’t pick up HoT unless I discover it has as much story content as GW2 did originally. Not at this price point.

I understand ArenaNet needs to make money but I agree that suddenly having Season 2 of Living World pay to play without prior announcement was a bit … lame. (Especially since it was free for everyone up until a certain time.)

A friend of mine came back to play through it as soon as HOT was announced and we were both shocked that it was pay to play for them. (They ended up going ahead and purchased it but still…)

(EDIT: As lordkrall.7241 pointed out, there was an announcement and I had forgotten about it so my entire complaint is now moot.)

We were never able to complete our first run so we exited, reformed the team and tried again. This time it was less severe and only had one dragon reset (after killing the other one).

Please fix this anet!

Ran into this tonight too, the workaround of leaving an add up did not help at all.

Had dragons vanish while using the cannon (not fly off, just vanish).

I think it has to do with a scripted NPC getting stuck and it eventually resetting the encounter. Destiny’s edge stays in the ship (Caithe came out briefly once) so it may be one of them (they also keep referring to the ship being broken if we talk to them).

I think this is a serious bug.

Sadly we are the ‘red’ server and seem to be in a bad stalemate.

Having said that, I have now managed to get the last vista I needed. I just need 3 points of interest (they are in towers but pretty deep in enemy area ).

There seem to be a number of music issues, both using the internal playlist and using the playlist feature.

1. Sometimes it gets stuck on one track (over and over).

2. Sometimes it doesn’t play anything (this happens in Orr a lot, oddly if you go underwater and resurface, it will play music again for awhile).

The particular issue you experienced is the ‘goes quiet’ thing and the reason why you got music for awhile during a fight is that there are ‘battle’ and ‘boss’ music lists that will activate but when it switches back to ‘ambient’ it will go quiet again.

I know this has been discussed before but are there any tips for finishing up map complete in the WvW zones?

I’m not really a PvP player but I’ve been trying to participate while trying to finish the map stuff but our group of servers (Crystal Desert currently grouped with Sea of Sorrows and Stormbluff) seem to be locked into an almost perpetual stalemate.

I’ve been working on this for nearly a month and while I’ve made progress, the last 3 points of interest (and a vista) are so far into enemy territory I am sad to say I just don’t see it happening.

Is there some way to get these?
Do we rotate zones over time so eventually that borderland will be ours?
Any (preferably helpful) suggestions would be great!

(Also, I know this has been discussed before but I do want to say that putting the WvW zones as required for map completion achivement was a bad idea. If players want to do PvP, that’s great, but if they aren’t into that, don’t force it on them. Oddly the structured PvP zones, Dungeons, etc are not part of map complete.

I’m not against PvP, I just don’t stay interested very long especially when it always ends up being cyclical and rather pointless – to me anyway.)

Actually, a cancel queue bind would be nice. Sometimes I have stuff stay queued (skill flashes) after enemy is dead and it basically means whenever I’m in range of anything I can hit, I will attack and there’s no real way to stop it. (Escape, dodge, etc do not appear to cancel it.)

I think this is a great idea. Other MMOs (past and present) have simliar systems.

Could even have it so team (below max) can queue up for fills (that LFM1-2 situation, for example).

I haven’t checked all of them but the special instanced areas in zones appear to be missing ‘exit points’ (the only way to leave is to use a waypoint (or presumably relog).

This seems to be a recent problem where the playlist (I am using the custom playlist feature) ultimately gets stuck and just repeats the same track (track 2) over and over again until I completely exit the game and relaunch it.

Currently, whenever you go to the production screen for crafting, the various sections (Refinement, etc) are presented in a random order.

It would be nice if, at the very least, it was always in the same order (a set one, sort by alpha for the category, something.).

Soundtrack Suggestions and Issues

1. The soundtrack randomizer currently has a lot of issues where it repeats certain tracks too often (e.g. track 4, track 9, track 4, track 5, track 4, track 3…). This occurs both with normal soundtrack and customized. This is my biggest issue with the soundtrack system.

(Might want to have the music player keep a list of the last X (5? 10? 25?) number of tracks played in memory and after the randomizer makes a selection, check the list and if there’s a match, run the randomizer again.)

2. Customized soundtrack could use some additional playlists. Vistas seem to always go to the default, for example. Some personal story missions seem to have special music overrides as well.

3. Some areas, especially in Orr, seem to forget to play ambient music.

(Some of them have water and if you go underwater, the music plays fine but when you surface it won’t play after that track ends.)

(I’ve reported them as bugs in-game when I can.)

Currently, most (if not all) event audio seems to have no distance/directional effects applied. This can be especially confusing if you’re in an area with several events running at the same time.

Audio volume for events (heralds, maniacs monologing, etc) should gradually falloff over distance.

Audio for events should be positioned with stereo/surround effects so if you are interested in joining the event (or running away in fear) you might have an idea what direction to head in.

1. Dungeon tokens/currency should be drops and reward option for all modes (exploration/story).

2. Dungeon chest reward tables should be a little more special. The karma/gold consolation prize isn’t bad but after a long challenging ordeal, I’d really like to at least get something other than blues.

3. For some bizarre reason, someone decided that story modes should give a free hat as the ‘big reward’. It’s often an ugly hat.

I’m a casual PvE player and my friends and I tried the first exploration path of the new AC over the weekend.

I will be the first to state that we’re not min/maxers/career players and are definately not the best players in the game.

We are, however, a group of friends who have been playing various MMORPGs for almost ten years and usually can figure things out.

We’ve done all the dungeons in story mode at least once, not without team wipes or difficulty but always been able to finish. We’ve done a couple of the later exploration paths successfully as well.

AC path 1 was so frustrating for us, we’re now reluctant to even bother with running dungeons much anymore which is not a good effect.

At any rate, to get into more detail:

The Spider Queen and Koheler were both very challenging and somewhat frustrating at first but ultimately effective strategies were worked out and we were successful. (We didn’t even have the Troll spawn to help.)

Then we got to the phase where we needed to defend the NPC from the gravelings (with the burrows) and it was an afternoon of frustration.

Our team makeup was 2 warriors, a ranger, thief and a necromancer.

1. We spent probably 3 hours on this part and never succeeded. Our fifth player (the second warrior) had some experience with the dungeon. It did not help.

2. We tried a number of different tactics and some of them seemed to work, up to a point. Some of the issues appear to be bugs (listed below).

3. The NPC just kinda stands there, yet in the previous encounter, he actually fights. I know he’s supposed to be ‘studying’ in this encounter but at the very least he should do some studying animations and perhaps make some effort to move away from attackers.

Possible Bugs/Issues:

1. A number of times, players fighting a burrow got moved to the other side of a closed door which pretty much meant that the encounter would fail.

2. Ranged players (ranger/thief with pistols) attacking burrows often got ‘obscured’ messages making the encounter much more difficult than it should be. Melee weapons worked ok (especially non-targeted ones) but more vulnerable classes not being able to stay ranged is a problem.

3. The knockdown the gravelings do takes the player (or NPC) out of action for a rather long time and the fact that they can chain this effect is just frustrating. (A number of MMOs put a special buff on a character when effects like this are applied that makes then immune to another application of it for a short time window – 30 or 60 seconds.)

4. We tried a number of tactics including particular players ‘guarding’ the NPC. Oddly, the warriors had a lot of problems holding aggro with large groups of gravelings. Ranger did not have this issue. Not sure if this is intended.

Parting Thoughts/Suggestions:

1. If there is a working strategy for the encounter (and obviously there is since others succeed), it should be a little easier to discover. Some kind of clue somewhere maybe.

2. There are definately some issues for some classes (targeting burrows, players being pushed beyond a closed door).

3. Ideally, dungeons should be designed to be able to be completed with various class combinations, varying player abilities (casual, experts, newbies), varying gear, varying skills and should be able to be done with everyone “at level”. I realize, as a software engineer myself, that this is a tall order with the sheer number of combinations but this should be an goal that ArenaNet strives for.

A cancel attack/skill keybind would be really handy.

(And this may be a bug, but sometimes I’ve had an attack skill get ‘stuck’ in activated mode, even with no enemy targeted which can lead to a surprise later. Currently doing a dodge roll seems to cancel it which works as a workaround.)

I don’t mean to offend ArenaNet or the ArenaNet QA team but something in your process doesn’t seem to work right.

This “Lost Shores” event seems to be more broken than working and some of the issues (Miyani sending you the same mail every time you zone) seem like they would’ve been easy catches & fixes.

The overall game itself, since launch, has had a lot of good fixes, some not so good fixes, and a lot of things that were reported in beta are still broken.

I’m not sure where in the pipe things are broken (QA itself, upper management overrides, or what) but I think you guys should fix it.

I know, from experience, that software development is complex and there are a lot of factors but there needs to be some improvement here.

[Broken Things in Event (so far, that I’ve noticed):

1. Noll doesn’t seem to be there sometimes.
2. The event in Kessex Hills with the assassin doesn’t work.
3. In Garenhoff the guy you’re getting information out of doesn’t work.
4. Miyani spams you every time you zone.
5. The Consortium crier repeats so quickly he interrupts himself.]

Nov 5th Update Bugs

So far tonight this update (Nov 5 2012) has brought a whole slew of new bugs, and I’ve only played for a couple hours tonight.

1. My online status gets changed to ‘invisible’. I can change it back to ‘online’. It says I changed it to online but then it’s invisible again.

2. Due to #1, none of my friends can even send me whispers.

3. Due to #1, I cannot invite any of my friends to a party.

4. When I try to chat in Guild Chat, it says I’m not in a Guild even though I am (I am set to represent them, my only option on the guild screen is to stand down.) Might be related to #1.

5. Candy Corn nodes randomly appear for an instant and then vanish. While they are visible, it’s possible to get stuck on them.

NOTE: Exiting the client completely fixed (at least for now) issues #1-4.
