Does the star show up to enemies? I haven’t, personally, map completed yet… but was hoping to find a vid/pictures from an enemy perspective. If anyone has these/could get them, posting them on here as well as Xavi’s bug thread would be much appreciated.
I completely agree with Ayanavi. Furthermore, I think what you’re experiencing is a symptom of the removal of class roles from GW2. Warrior still has to be able to do his thing… just now without a Monk to back him up. There’s a point at which the fights, certain champions/dungeon mobs are just too much for a Warrior to stand up to though. A few of my Warrior buddies tend to get rather upset that they’ve got to resort to rifle kiting certain things because the given mob’s power is over that point at which a Warrior can fight it “traditional” warrior style… without that Monk backing them up. Times like those make me glad that I’ve got one of the most versatile classes in the game.
I think the intent is to eventually allow for twilight/sunrise to count for that medal. I’m pretty sure I saw a post indicating that they were aware of the issue… don’t quote me on that though. My guess is that it’s on a long list of things that need fixing, and will be addressed once bugged events/skills/general gameplay stuff is out of the way.
…
Makes you wonder if the people who designed this armour a) ever actually looked at it and b) understand the concept of dyes. And I have to wonder, other than “fanboyism”, what can possibly make you defend these errors.
I’ll post pictures of my sylvari when I get home
I am not even remotely interested in screenshots of your character, nor do I see their relevance to this topic. This is the bug report forum and my post is a pretty straightforward bug report, meant to inform the developers so they can fix the issues.
In all fairness, as none of these other people can actually fix the thing for you, they’re just offering suggestions to tie you over until it does get addressed… if not that, just a generally positive outlook. Keep in mind that your frustration lies with the game, not your fellow players.
As for me, I feel your pain… the screenshot documents the issues perfectly. My suggestion to you would be to post that into the stickied “Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?” found here:
I think that would be the most effective way to go about getting these armor issues noticed by the dev team.
Oh it was happening on my necros scepter. I’m assuming because it’s got a string of different attacks for the auto.
Yeah, that sounds logical to me. I think they are aware of it, and cooking up a fix… just can’t seem to find that other thread.
Just me?
Nope. There was a large thread on this awhile back… can’t seem to find it atm. At any rate, it was deduced, if I recall correctly, that if you dodge roll while in the middle of your second auto attack(with a melee weapon), what you’ve experienced will happen.
Does the star appear to enemies?
Pictures, from an enemy perspective, would be super helpful in detailing this issue.

This always happens to me when I’m running through mobs. It seems like the distance(from their initial spawn location) at which the mobs get to be ‘done’ with combat is significantly smaller than the distance from that spot which the players get to be ‘done’ with combat. Usually I clear it by running in the opposite direction without pulling more mobs, or just logging out if I can’t do that. This is doubly annoying when you’re fighting a champion mob who’s going to one or two shot you, which causes the battle to migrate quite a bit… and when you hit that ‘done’ distance(on accident, of course), he gets to run back, regenerating, while you have to go twice as far the other way in order to restart that fight on even grounds.
I, personally, can’t say I’ve seen it. I would recommend you browse the Tech Support forum, as well as make sure you’ve completely removed traces of the old drivers. If you haven’t already, I would also run some tests on your new card… just to make sure it doesn’t happen to be the culprit.
Ran into that one, myself, with a couple of buddies… Confirming, as well, that no one can get through it.
I believe that ArenaNet has far more pressing issues than camera controls, such as getting the game to work. That said, for a game that focuses around action oriented combat, positional and surrounding awareness, competitive PvP and jumping puzzles, this is not acceptable as a permanent solution.
This pretty much sums up how I feel… just wanted to drop in and add another name to your list of support.
Yeah, sounds good for you. And if mobs in pve also are able to distinguish me from my phantasms by the star, they should remove it there, too. (Which leads to the point to make the star display optional.)
I am not sure how it works, but as I nearly only play pve I don’t want an AI that can see who the real mesmer is. ^^
You’re good on that front. The program will always “know” which of you is real. It just depends on how frequently they let the mob AI act on that information.
As for PvP… I’m really glad I found this thread before I ended up with map completion, as PvP, specifically Mesmer, is really the only thing that I find engaging in this game… so it’d really have sucked to ruined that after I’ve seen all there is to see. I just figured that our status would be mirrored to our creations… all aspects of it, including this. By definition.. a clone. I don’t feel that a toggle would be the right avenue to fix this, however. Applying it to the summons or disabling the star for EVERYONE in PvP would seem like the most fair solutions.
I can definitely confirm on that first bullet point for Mesmer… though I was noticing it happening before the Lost Shores, just less pronounced.
The previous thread handling these issues seems to have disappeared… Reposting this just to be safe. If it wasn’t necessary, then my apologies for the redundancy.
To summarize the first image… The Cabalist Coat appears to be sheared off, majorly in part due to the way in which it combines with the Cabalist Leggings. I’ve provided a quick thought for how it could be made to feel more natural when worn with any other type of armor leggings, but it’s just a suggestion. Lowering the shear-off point would essentially accomplish the same thing, but I think adding some detail down there would really give it a nice feel. The second image is just a quick indicator of clipping that occurs in normal “idle” gameplay.
Info as requested…
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Mesmer
Gear IMG 1(+IMG 2 frame 1)
Head: Cabalist Hood
Shoulders: Light Tribulation Shoulderguards (AKA Stately Mantle)
Chest: Cabalist Coat
Gloves: Cabalist Gloves
Legs: Light Travelen Leggings (AKA Stately Leggings)
Shoes: Apprentice Shoes
Gear IMG 2(frame 2-3)
Head: Cabalist Hood
Shoulders: Light Tribulation Shoulderguards (AKA Stately Mantle)
Chest: Aristocrat’s Coat
Gloves: Linen Gloves
Legs: Aristocrat’s Pants
Shoes: Apprentice Shoes
EDIT: I understand that the suggestion (IMG 1) is probably never going to get attention, with all the clipping that should be taking precedence… that said, IMG 2 has some really big (and easily fixable) clipping issues.
Yeah, I just did a quick search looking for this issue… You’re the first result. Confirming that I’m seeing this as well.
Edit: After a closer look, it appears that it is working, however, it does not trigger on The Prestige when you activate the skill, but instead triggers after the skill finishes. Still bugged… just slightly less crippling.
