Well, Wintersday is long gone. No youtube video for you.

All they need to do is implement something like WoW had.. CoDs. The sender specifies how much gold the item he is sending is, and if the recipient doesn’t accept, the item gets sent back to the sender. Problem solved, and not terribly complicated to code.

But Anet, for their own reasons, want us to use their TP, and lose 15% every time.

I was thinking the other day of expanding a bit on the Norn elite racials.. Become the Wolf, Raven, Bear, Snow Leopard. What I’d like to see is for those to become viable as an actual playstyle. Currently, they cannot because of the long-kitten cooldown, and you can only use one of them unless you swap out.

This would never happen, but I was thinking something like the above idea would merge well with the ranger class… or profession, as Anet likes to call it. It would give many opportunities to provide some sort of synergy between a ranger’s pet, and the ranger himself morphing into whichever animal. This could be worked into one of the “packmaster” specs already suggested as a side spec.

Bottom line, I’d just like to see some mechanism where the “Become the Wolf/whatever” becomes a viable playstyle to choose.

However, if Anet brings back the Stag Helm before Wintersday is over, I will create such a video.

I can complete the activity in the festival area. Usually. But it generally takes 2 trips of the dolyak for me to do it. My methodology is to run ahead of the zerg, pick up a snowball and start pelting as fast as I can as soon as they pop, and hope no trolls are around. As it is, I usually get frequently blocked by getting hit with a snowball myself.

Solution: 10 skritt is crazy and unnecessary. Why only make it 3 players, but 10 skritt? Make it 3 skritt, too. Or 3 skritt and 10 players. That is much more manageable.

Hey, Anet. Any word on when the Stag Helm will be back? I thought it would have been Wintersday 2016, but no sign of it yet.

Are you going to make me go months of logging in every day, heading straight to the gem store, and do a search for “stag helm” and come up with zilch? Because that’s what I’ve been doing for several weeks now, and it’s starting to get a bit monotonous!

Every day that goes by without the Stag Helm in the gem store, Trump sends another tweet.

I’m suspecting it’s a corrupted file, then. Because it certainly isn’t something I’m doing. I’m doing the exact same thing time and time again. Sometimes it works.. and sometimes it doesn’t. When it doesn’t, the only fix is to rezone. It’s never happened on any of the stationary forges.. only the portable one. So I submit they aren’t exactly the same.. something’s different.

Over the past few days, I have noticed that after a couple times using the Mystic Forge Conduit, it craps out.. I have a bunch of rares, I’m going through them, and all of a sudden after putting in 3, everything greys out and I can’t put in the 4th. Logging or way pointing to another zone resets it and lets me use it a couple more times…. but certainly doesn’t fix it. It craps out again after 2 or 3 times. I have no issues at the regular mystic forge, but the Mystic Forge Conduit has started acting up like this.

I’m in the same boat. What the heck pops this event? Seriously.. anyone know? Need to kill Siegemaster Lormar, and there is a serious lack of information anywhere on the web regarding it. All the wiki says is you need to do these other events like destroy trebuchets.. but those are never up, either. So, what starts the chain? Anyone know?

Actually, the warbler comes in pretty useful in Act 2, for the Leave It To Me achievement. Using it apparently gives you the use of some of your utility skills.

Well, you guys must be special cupcakes, then.. because Hobbs isn’t giving me an option to rebuy anything. And I’m stuck not being able to craft the staff parts now.

Would it kitten kill Anet to put up a friggen dialogue box for this sort of stuff? That’s kinda basic MMO game design 101.

I don’t want clones replacing my phantasms, either.

I run a chrono phantasma build, and clones just mess all that up. The benefit of chrono phantasma is just gone if even 1 phantasm gets replaced by a clone, because chrono phantasma doesn’t work with clones.

So for pve, at least, clones are generally not desirable with that kind of build.

An acceptable fix would be if you have the chrono phantasm trait, any ability that generates a clone generates a phantasm, instead. Even if it’s just a dummy phantasm that does nothing.. because it’s just going to be shatter fodder anyway. I don’t need it to do anything else except shatter.

I would say yeah.. situationally. For soloing trash mobs, quite often the thing’s dead pretty early in the rotation. So what I do for the mobs that tend to not last long is just modify the parts of the rotation that makes the most sense in the situation. A lot of times, I can’t even be bothered to swap out of hammer.. I’ll stay in Shiro, but hammer them at range because I feel too lazy to run up to them and use sword/axe. If they’re already on me, then yeah, I’ll use sword/axe and that’s usually enough to kill them without swapping to glint.

In Verdant Brink, I took out 3 champ spiders just with Shiro, sword/axe, and then Enchanted Daggers, Impossible Odds, autoattack. 8 seconds, they were all dead and my health never dipped much below 95%.

So for most trash mobs, just use whatever parts of the rotation make sense for the situation. If they live for a while, like champs, then you get to spam the rotation to its fullest.

This guide is what I use and it is phenomenal, though I alter it a wee bit just to suit my style. He also includes a pre-Glint build for people working up to it.

Using just the Shiro half of the rotation, which is available to you now, I was able to beat down 3 vet spiders in Verdant Brink simultaneously in less than 10 seconds, while still maintaining greater than 90% health. All I used was sword/axe, then Enchanted Daggers, Impossible Odds, and auto attack. Ensuring you put Enchanted Daggers into the mix is a further dps increase, plus the more you hit, the more you heal. So it keeps you alive, PLUS adds to your dps. Don’t underestimate it. It’ll allow you to face tank something that you otherwise might not be able to.

Also, my play style I use hammer a lot. If you have full zerker gear, it hits mobs for a decent amount. To soften up a group of mobs, I start with hammer #5 (Drop the Hammer), followed up immediately by hammer #3 (Phase Smash) while they’re still picking themselves up, then hammer #2, (Coalescence of Ruin). Those are all aoe attacks, and you can fire them off in very quick succession. They will usually bring the entire group of mobs to below 50%. By then, they’re on top of you and quite often just standing there and swapping to sword/axe and doing the Enchanted Daggers/Impossible Odds/auto attack is usually more than enough to finish them off. Sword auto attack hits 3 mobs at once. Test out the technique to become familiar with it, see how you like it.

The idea is to kill them off before they can damage you appreciably. If, for some reason, after the above rotation some mobs are still standing and beating on you, then you can incorporate all the dodge techniques and abilities that you have, such as sword #3 (Unrelenting Assault), and your regular dodges.

I’m experimenting with the bleed build that was posted here, and will see how that goes. It looks like it has potential. No staff, but meh.. it’s the best I can do at the moment.

I’ve spent a couple days puzzling over this, and trying to work out the rotation. I’m a bit slow, so let’s pretend that I don’t fully understand all the mechanics, or how they necessarily work. Actually, we don’t even have to pretend.

At the moment, I’m using the Glint/Shiro combo, with hammer and sword/axe. I’ve been trying really hard to follow the above rotation in order to understand what’s going on, and why. One thing that isn’t specified and I had issues with trying to work around is, you don’t specifically mention the F2 facet.. am I correct in assuming that when you say “activate all facets”, that includes the F2 one? And if so, do I ever blast it, or just leave it alone? I’ve been having troubles with it when swapping to Shiro and attempting to use Impossible Odds.. because Impossible Odds is unavailable with the F2 still active. So I’ve just been ignoring F2 altogether and don’t even activate it in the rotation. Again, let me know what I’m doing wrong, there.

So what I’ve been able to gather, and you allude to it in your rotation notes but not clearly enough for me, is the only reason we are in Shiro is to use the heal, Impossible Odds, and autoattack.. and that’s it. Right? What isn’t clear is what is the trigger that makes me swap back to Dragon Stance.. is it when Impossible Odds runs out?

Then, when you say “activate all facets except elite”, again, does that include the F2 facet? If so, I’m not sure I understand what you mean in your notes by letting it run out for some sort of cooldown avoidance. What exact mechanic are we striving for there?

Can you provide a bit more description about what exactly is going on during this rotation?

Yep, installed that last night. I’ve already noticed improvements.. I’ve been relegated to running around the place in Best Performance mode, because if I do any boss event in high performance mode, odds are 50/50 that I’d crash. Plus, in high performance mode, it takes forever to load maps.

With the 64 bit client, maps are loading in high performance mode in about half the time that they used to. And I did the Auric Basic meta event successfully last night in high performance mode. No crashes so far, but that was just one event, and without the number of people like you’d have around Shatt or Teq. I’ll test that next.

WoW druids were a blast to play. And yes, they could fite.

Hehe, they sure were. They’re probably the only thing that I really miss about WoW. They could turn into a cat and fight like a thief, a bear to tank and hold aggro, a tree to heal people, a moonkin to cast spells at range, a bird to fly, a cheetah to run fast, and some kind of seal to swim. Very versatile and very fun to play, no matter what your playstyle.

Now, I’m not asking for anything like that here, nor would I expect it. But if Anet’s vision is that the only role for druids is to heal in the upcoming raids, then I guess that’s what their role is and I should probably stop trying to find ways to make it a main outside of raids.

To be honest, I was kind of hoping that someone could convince me to play Druid. I really do want to love it, and I think it has potential, but it’s not doing a whole lot for me right now. I don’t play Ranger in PvP, but I might give bunker Druid a shot. I’m still hopeful that raids might have a slot for Druid, too.

That sort of expresses my sentiment. I’ve already expressed here that I just like the concept of druid.. I play it as my main in any MMO that has one. And I am really scrambling to find a way to do that here. However, Anet’s vision of what a druid is and brings to the table does not appear to include elements that allow me to solo AS a druid. Yes, as mentioned, I can solo as a ranger primarily with some druidic elements tossed in as an afterthought.. but I wanted to MAIN as a druid. And I still do.

My fantasy is that Anet will do something to make maining as a full druid spec more viable. Not better than base ranger, but at least as good. I’d be happy with that.

Druid was my main way back when I played WoW. They were initially primarily healers by design (sort of like druids in GW2 now), but had other, suboptimal builds that allowed them to dps. Even though at the time the dps builds were suboptimal, I still enjoyed playing a druid as a dps class. This is sort of what I was wishing for here in GW2.. that I could viably play druid as adequate dps if I so chose. And that was why I started this thread the way I did.

Yes, I know I can still go full longbow ranger with melee weapon swap and do adequate damage. But I can’t seem to do that as a druid, which is what I am after. In any MMO I played that had a druid class, I always made that as my main. In this game at the moment, that is extremely difficult to do. Or seems to be. Hence, my question.

I agree with Tragic Positive.

To me, the issue isn’t with the druid not being able to read people’s health and to focus their heals like in other MMOs. Anet won’t bring “whackamole” to this game.

The onus is on the OTHER players to keep themselves healed, by availing themselves of the druid. The onus is not on the druid to keep other players healed. Everything the druid does puts out some sort of heal. He farts, he heals. I think people need to train themselves to hug a druid if they’re taking a bit of damage they can’t handle. And then the druid just needs to make sure he and his heals are available. If people don’t wanna use them, well, not his fault.

Bottom line, if you’re looking at this healer as part of the traditional MMO trinity, you’re doing it wrong. That wasn’kittens design.

Ok, I’ve maxed up my druid spec.. and now I’m scratching my head a bit trying to figure out if it’s possible to viably solo (without falling asleep) with just a pure druid. That is, fighting through content with just your pets and staff.

And if so, what darn armour would you use? Minstrel stats appears to be the “druid” armour. Has anyone tried to have a solo druid build through HoT content? And if so, what utilities, skill rotations, weapon and armour stats do you use? And pets? Strategies?

I’m thinking that you put your tiger between you and the mob, and just use staff 1. That will keep your tiger healed while he does his business. That’s situational, though.

Anyone else have a secret, super effective druid setup for soloing content?

Sounds like you and Anet have parted ways, then… if they appear to be moving in a direction different than what you would like. Fortunately for you, there are several other games out there.

Most of the reasons you stated why you don’t like it are pretty much the reasons why I DO like it. Anet has chosen to shake things up every few months so people don’t just go for the current cookie cutter build and rotation, and have that remain the same for years. I like that they’re mixing things up. It would be incredibly boring for me if I take a year off then come back only to find the same cookie cutter build and rotation haven’t changed at all. Granted, it’s difficult to get rid of zerker because of the dps they output. But all the rotations have changed numerous times for all the classes.

It sounds like you just find it too hard now, and want things to go back to the way they were. It’s an evolving game, and requires that you update your playstyle. This is by design, not accident, on Anet’s part. You may disagree with that design decision, and that’s your prerogative. I happen to like it.

I can only imagine they put the electric wyvern and the tiger behind this Byzantine process because they are probably meta pets. I know the tiger is, I was very impressed in beta with it. As for the electric wyvern, in beta I wasn’t that impressed.. but then maybe I was using it wrong or not understanding its mechanic well enough. Regardless, one day I will be there and get them both.

Then I will put tiger out, go full druid, put the tiger between me and the mob, put Solar Beam on auto attack, then go for coffee.

You know what… I’m willing to bet dollars to donuts the tigers are going to be found in Tangled Depths.

That’s what I would do if I were the guy in charge of this at Anet. But, I certainly wouldn’t make their location obvious, either…

They’ve got to be hiding somewhere… I’m at the point right now that my searching for the tiger is negatively impacting the time that could be better spent leveling masteries. So I think that’s what I’ll do. Someone eventually will find these things.

I’m going to reserve judgement until I can see exactly how much damage they can do. I like to play solo as well, and want to know if a druid can support a solo play style in a viable fashion.

In other MMOs, healers can solo stuff.. but it takes forever and a day to actually kill anything. I’m hoping druid isn’t like that. Heals, fine. Just as long as their dps is viable enough to solo as a druid.

When I mouse over the achievement for Master of Arah on the achievement panel, it shows 4/4 paths completed, and Tier 4 of 4 tiers.

However, on the achievement panel itself, it says I only have 4/5, preventing me from getting Master of Arah. And yes, I did my personal story in there. I just did it now on a character that needed it.

Is this a bug?

I think they could do a lot around guild housing. Just like they borrowed a lot of ideas from DAoC for WvW, it’d be great if they borrowed some ideas for guild housing from DAoC, too.. especially the part where you could hang trophies on display from difficult content, such as Triple Trouble.

Meh, I been playing GW2 for almost 3 years.. I still call ’em classes. :P Professions have always been like crafting and stuff, to me.

Oh, and if you want a class with a good peeve off factor in pvp, necro is good for that, along with thief.

And by the way, welcome to the game! It isn’t like most other MMOs… the reason why you can dps with all of them is they don’t do the holy trinity of MMOs like tank/healer/dps. You can more or less fulfill those roles to varying extents on most toons.

You can dps with pretty much all of them. A lot of it just depends on gear, runes, weapons and traits. And, of course, how you play.

Depends as well if you mean pvp or pve. You would spec differently depending which one you want.

The Maguuma Wastes Spvp Track gives a guaranteed one at the end if you rather do that, otherwise just keep opening the chests you’ll get one eventually. Also you can only get them in the drytop chests, not silverwastes, just an FYI.

So the fix is yet another week away? Really, it’s that complicated to fix?

Ran into this bug yet again last night while doing a Teq run. As we were told Anet considers this to be an exploit on our part (!) I asked everyone to stop the event and to leave the map. Of course, I was ignored and they got Teq down.

Anet, you’ve known about this rather large and annoying bug for months, now. Can we get an update as to how come it hasn’t yet been addressed? Especially since you will happily ban us if we happen to get the bug and take Teq down anyway? People don’t appreciate having 1 or 2 hours of their time wasted, if you expect them to leave the map for a bug that should have been addressed months ago.

Basically, with Teq it’s a crapshoot. Unless you are with a guild that can organize an entire megaflow, or the RNG gods favour the megaflow with a sufficient percentage of people capable of listening to a commander, then you will fail.

The Teq mechanics are easy, and repeatable for the most part. Most of the bugs have been ironed out, though one will rear its ugly head once in a while and cost you the win. Because the Teq event has been out for a while, more and more people are familiar with the mechanics of it now. As a result, there are more wins.

Three headed wurm, however, is a different story. Only the mega guilds kill it with any regularity.. and the RNG bugs are more numerous for wurm, costing them wins that they should have had.

I doubt pugs will ever kill wurm.. it requires the coordination of basically the entire megaflow server. And the megaserver mechanics are such that it does not really support 150 like minded people getting into the same megaflow. So wurm is even more of a crapshoot than Teq. It requires more coordination than Teq, and you need voice chat communications to adequately coordinate.. unfortunately, there are a sufficient number of puggers who don’t think they need voice chat, don’t need to pay attention, and think they can just face roll 3 headed wurm and collect their phat lewts. Well, if they are in an organized megaflow with over 90% of the people listening, then the few who don’t listen will win as well.. thus reinforcing their opinion that all they need to do is show up and faceroll and not bother listening.

I am in Eastern time, as is a really huge chunk of players. Did I see the timer right for the Triple Trouble Wurm? When I get home from work, I need to wait until midnight to kill the wurm? Well, ain’t going to happen.. some people have to work in the morning.

I might as well quit TTS.. seeing as I will no longer be able to attend wurm raids. And TTS doesn’t do guild events, so will never be able to unlock the wurm on its own unless they get creative and jump through hoops.

I will bet any Anet employee ten thousand dollars that you will notice a big, honking decrease in the number of wurm kills. Maybe that’s your intention.. to try to break up mega guilds like TTS, who formed because that was the only way normal people could do your content.
