It’s not that Orr is terrible for having so many risen, it’s that the 6 zones I went thru before Orr were also packed full of risen and made me sick of them by the time I got there. There aren’t enough mobs out there that get me excited in the game. They’re mostly all the same size and same skills. I got excited about the giant mobs in the opening scene and then didn’t get excited again till level 60. In my opinion that’s way to much of a gap.

I definitely noticed this while leveling up… can’t even count how many ‘repel the zombie attacker’ events I did. It got extremely monotonous and I couldn’t wait to kill something that wasn’t a zombie…. you can only imagine how excited I was to reach Orr (sarcasm for the slow folks).

Guys really, stop this already.

We know you’re used to get stat-chasing as a long-term time sink from traditional MMOs but Anet made it a point to not have this.
They will not delude 99.9% of their playerbase, going against everything they said just because some people was so used to this obsolete mechanic that they can’t see beyond it in a MMO.

Every type of MMO has a few concepts and rules unique to it, call them fundaments.
No stat-treadmill is a pillar of GW2 and is here for the long run.
If you feel you need a long gear-treadmill that gives advantages over other players just realize it will never happen here so perhaps you might want to go back playing MMOs that work this way.

I always love when people start throwing around made up statistics. If you actually open your eyes and read the forums, and see whats being said in game, the community is pretty much split in half on this argument. So yes it is completely valid, and Anet has never stated that no gear progression was part of their business model. In fact, there actually is gear progression in the game, most of it just takes such little effort that everyone is bored by now.

Please try and bring some constructive comments to the thread, there are tons of ways that anet could appease both sides of the argument. Also I never understand why people say to just go back to another MMO, because trust me its not fun watching an MMO you love die and servers get merged.

Sadly I have been seeing guild wars be referred to as the communist MMO a lot lately and not just around here. Having that sort of reputation could be detrimental.

If anet is smart they will appeal to both groups of people by implementing regions of the game that take gear into account and regions that don’t. Oh wait they did that already, and everyone is exactly a like in both those areas. I feel like I’m playing this game with a bunch of clones at times, so bland.

Consider what happened to Diablo 3.

This game is not about loot, if you need loot please note the uninstall option in the game folder.

If it is not about loot then why is there any in it at all? In fact send all yours my way if you don’t need it.

Also, love when players jump to the find another MMO conclusion just because someone has criticism towards the game. I am sure A-net really appreciates you sending business away.

@Doolio Definitely appreciate your post and it actually made me realize that I am more in your shoes than I am compared to most players. I never have the best gear and have died in Aion god knows how many times to players better geared than I. Sure I do believe gear in some games plays too much of a role or gives too much of an advantage, but i think there is plenty of room to give players something to work for and earn without giving anyone the ability to one shot another player.

Also, its a game… dying to me is fun as it provides a good challenge. Right now I almost never die in a 1v1 and I have completely lost that sense of excitement and nervousness that I would get in other MMOs playing against well geared players.

Similarly, keep working hard at GW2 and you’ll become a GOOD player. Then you’ll get your reward.

Except there is currently no reward developed in the game at the moment for this. Also if you are speaking of legendary weapons… those are the epitome of grind with a road block of RNG to make things “fun” according to the devs.

PS Your analogy is also way off wack, I could name a million situations were people get rewarded for not working hard or doing something well. Try again.

Oh you’re one of the “anti-levels” crowd.

I get it, I really do. The perfect game for me would have zero levels and all of your skills would be quantified by what you do in the world(i.e. spend a day killing rats, get some minor permanent bonus to ratkilling).

But dude… the game is already released!

You really expect ANet to do a massive coding overhaul for this giant, and very complex world? Right now, after 5 years in the making??

I respect your point but, it just ain’t gonna happen right now. Hate to say it, but your argument is moot.

Lol I think you missed my point… I love leveling and I love any kind of progression in an MMO. I was comparing levels to gear progression since they are one in the same. My point was people totally against gear progression should not be playing an MMO that has levels since in their mind it is all an “unfair advantage given to the player with the most time”.

I’ll explain it to you I suppose.

A lvl 80 vs lvl 20 is technically not fair…you’re right about that. But you’re not really taking into account the speed at which leveling occurs in this game. You can get to 80 anywhere from 1 week to 1 month, even in WvW. It’s really a non-factor considering you could use that time to learn the game mechanics.

Now I suppose if you want to be equalized from day 1 then ya…it’s unfair. Almost everyone, I would bet, doesn’t mind the small amount of time it takes to get to 80. Besides, comparing gw2 leveling speed to other games…it’s like 1/100th the amount of time here compared to those games.

Does it really burden you to spend a couple of weeks, or at most a month, to get to 80? Leveling is actually a little too fast imo, but I’m certainly not complaining.

I agree, level was pretty fast and I did find it more enjoyable than most MMOs. So if someone can hit level 80 in about a month. Than why not add some gear for that level 80 to achieve that takes about the same amount of time? Even then I doubt any gear they could possibly implement would equal such a drastic advantage that a level 80 would have over a level 20.

So then people argue that it is not fair that the level 80 should have an advantage over another level 80 without the same gear. However, it is okay for that undergeared player to have an advantage over someone who has not had the time to hit level 80 yet? My point is that any type of leveling system in an MMO is progression based on the amount of time played. Does it give players an unfair advantage sometimes? Sure does… so if people want a truly level playing field in a game, then all of GW2 should be based on the sPvP environment.

If people want to be against progression of their characters then fine…. be against all forms of progression. Progression in a game should not stop just because some people get their pa.nties all in a wedge.

No.

Because if I do you’ll use a strawman to exaggerate it to try to prove your point, as has been done far too often in this thread already.

The fact is the game was designed to have absolutely zero grind required.

If you want to grind you can, but you won’t get an advantage from it.

If what you really want is an advantage, not the grind, then I think that says all we need to know about you.

News flash…. leveling is a grind. Yet you support there being levels and do not support gear progression… hence hypocrite…

Could somebody who is completely against any progression in gear please explain to me why it is okay for players to have a level advantage on each other but not okay to have a gear advantage? If you truly want to play a game that is perfectly balanced from the start, then why play a game that has levels at all?

If I were to agree with all of you, I could come to GW2 and complain that I do not have enough time to level to 80 and that it gives players who have more time available to have an ‘unfair’ advantage over me. Whether it is levels or gear… any MMO that has a level system rewards players with more playing time from the very start.

Anyone who is against gear progression can not argue otherwise without looking like a complete hypocrite. Stats from higher levels or gear…. it’s all the same…

Not everyone sees the world in black and white. It’s not always 2 mutually exclusive options.

My previous post was a little, teensy bit too abstract for most of you so allow me to explicate my feelings on the op’s post.

It’s dung. Endgame is not some whimsical abstraction that you make on your own. Endgame is not a make your own adventure novel nor is it a bologna sandwich.

Maybe no one defined it for you before so I will. Endgame is progression of your character at or near max level. It’s not subjective. It’s concrete. Anything not adhering to the parameters outlined is not endgame. Leveling is not endgame. Playing dress up is not endgame. Sitting on the bus is not endgame. And gw2 has a lack of endgame.

I just had to reply to this cause I found it so hilarious and extremely true. Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of players out there who wish all level 80 characters to act and look exactly alike, just an army of clones, cause no one should have anything better than anyone else in their book. I have suggested non combat bonuses to gear but everyone immediately jumps to thinking there will be an “I win button” and are blind to anything else.

@coglin If you do not believe in character progression and level 80 then whats the point of leveling at all? Why don’t we all just get the same gears and skills when we start the game like in sPvP?

People continue to do so because it’s not true. It’s your way of disregarding the skill argument, by disregarding its existence.

You’re statement makes no sense and does not in any way debate that someones build doesn’t outweight a players skill… please approach me with a valid arguement time…

Also since everyone in this forum seems to love analogies and you mentioned sports and athletes, if they were to follow your rule of thinking then anyone who was more muscular than the average player would be disqualified because that is an unfair advantage of strength.

Are we seriously debating that the ability to press 15 keys in succession, half of which have very high cool downs, has really that high of a skill cap?

GW2 is like communism where everyone is supposed to be equal and see how communism turned out to be. Not so great.

Sadly this is actually the vibe I am getting from this game. Now before people pounce on me for “wanting an I win button”, there are tons of stats that can be added to desirable gear that do not directly effect combat and yet would still give others the OPTION to grind towards.

I also wonder how people keep throwing around the word that this game is strictly about skill, when in fact it is primarily about you’re build compared to the given situation… only after that is player skill taken into account. Even when considering player skill, there are only 15 skills at their disposal while under pressure which ends up repeating several skills within the same battle.

Also several of these people who have problem with gear with better stats, do not seem to have any problem playing against underleveled players in WvW. If everyone should be equal, then why not implement the same sPvP structure into WvW? Shouldn’t that be the fair thing to do rather than plow over a level 20 in full blues with your level 80 in full exotic? Haven’t heard anyone complain about that yet, but as soon as someone may be able to obtain better gear, then they all panic like the sky is caving in…..

I love how people seem to always assume that players who want progression in a MMO are looking to just one shot everyone. In my opinion, that is not fun either.

There are plenty of ways to implement progression in gear without buffing stats to the point of making things unfair… for example…

Magic or gold find increase as additional stats
Increase the amount of supplies a player can carry
Falling damage decrease
Even a out of combat speed buff
There could also be gear created to enhance class specific skills that dont have stats but effect utility skills

There are many many ways they could implement progression without upsetting all the carebears that cry as soon as they think someone is going to have something better than them. Any of those added to hard to obtain pieces of gear would keep my interests in the game and yet still keep a 1v1 battle perfectly fair so no one sheds any tears.

Take the Olympics in any sport where gear is a factor, say fencing. The olympic officials make sure there’s no advantage (it’s why the spanish grip is still not legal in competitions) and they don’t give the best foilist a better foil for their next match, no they give them a gold medal. That gold medal doesn’t increase their ability to compete but just recognizes that they’re the top for that olympiad in that sport.

This in my opinion is exactly why they created sPvP… which I enjoy very much and have absolutely no problem. In fact since you seem to be insulting me and assuming I have no skills… I often finish top of both teams and have no problems with 1v1s.

My point is that why cant there be the sPvP portion of the game with make stats equal among all players, as well as a portion of the game that gives you gear to work towards such as WvW? Having both of these implemented in one game I think would be a huge success for all player types to enjoy.

Also as I said earlier, in most other MMOs that I have played I never had the elite and best gear…usually far from that. In fact I would die a ton to other people better geared than I. The difference is that I wouldn’t go crying about it and expect it to be as fair and strict as the Olympics….

…last time I checked MMOs weren’t an Olympic sport so I am not sure why you used this analogy.

It’s funny when people say GW2 is for carebears when GW2 is more about skill than a WoW (or clone).

Funny that you mention this because it is completely not true…

What is skill? I believe skill is knowing which skills to use at the right time when under pressure.

Funny thing about GW is that you have tons of skill but can only access 15 at a time. Plus there are traits which can play a major roll in battle, and can not be changed on the fly. Therefore, GW becomes more about planning than skill to be honest, while games like wow tend to be more about gear than skill. At least in other MMOs if you go up against someone with equal gear then it will be about skill. In GW even a skilled player could be caught in a bad situation with the wrong build and lose.

So honestly GW is more about planning and WoW type game are more about gear…. neither seem to ever purely be about skill. Just a side note… I never played WoW.

Edit: since I was asked what a carebear is…. they are people who expect everything to have everything without having to work for anything… they are the people who expect every child in a sports tournament to receive a trophy just for showing…

MMO's need a grind but not for fluff

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sleaze.3748

I came to this game totally understanding that sPvP was where stats and gear would not matter. With this in mind, I already knew that WvW would be where my time would be spent. After I hit 80 I then realized all gear has basically the same stats and has no effort what so ever to get. Ironically the gear that has possibly the biggest grind to it (WvW) just looks incredibly dull and boring.

I am one of those players that gets hooked by having that carrot dangled in front of you. I rarely get the best gear in MMOs and constantly face people better geared than me, but that never discourages me… it just makes me want that gear more. The cool looking skins are nice, but if thats all gear has then it will get very boring very fast.

If Anet was smart, they would leave the sPvP for the people not into gear treadmills and WvW could be for the people who enjoy earning something with better stats. If this game doesn’t implement something to work toward, then I really doubt it will hold my interest very long. But then again since I am not paying monthly, I really doubt Anet cares to capture the interest of players like myself.

I am starting to get the feeling that this is more of a carebear version of a real MMO, suited for very casual and non competitive players.

Story Mode - Developer said it was easier = Untrue

Sleaze.3748

I love challenging content, but story mode is not the place things should be challenging… First of all it is a road block to accessing exp mode, so most of the time you’re just grabbing who ever need story mode to get a group together to complete it. Casual PUGs are not the types of groups they should be throwing some of these bosses at. In exp mode, sure make it as hard as you want because that will likely be the runs I go in with friends or guildies.

The other thing is that it feels as if the developers created bosses designed for games that use a trinity and ironically they’re game has none. If you change the dynamics of combat for the players, you also need to change the way you develop the bosses…. you can not use a standard hate system that other games use when there is no tank to take the hate. I honestly think they need to completely scratch their idea of what boss fights should be like and develop them specifically to this battle system to make it actually enjoyable.

Right now, its not fun.

Whats the purpose of no names in WvW?

in WvW

Posted by: Sleaze.3748

Sleaze.3748

Honestly I am one for having names show… they took the amount of effort to make their name database be a global server instead of a separate database for each server. This already screwed me out of my top names I would usually pick in any MMO. So all that time I spent figuring out a new name was wasted because in the end I am just clumped together with the rest of my server with no real individualism.

I like knowing who I am fighting, and having that nervousness come up when I know someone is a real good player.

Lets get real, no names really is not protecting new players in any way. The only thing it is doing is covering up bad game design of players being able to speak cross servers.

Also if taking out names in WvW was to prevent griefing, then why didnt they do the same in sPvP where is is actually possible to grief someone?

Somewhere in the class description, ANet needs to add: “this is not a pet class”.

I’m not trying to make it a pet class, I am only trying to be able to use the F1-F4 skills that we get, which are the special mechanic that makes us different. Just like thieves get steal, elementalists get attunement change, etc……..those of which do not get rendered useless in DEs like ours do.

Also if you read what I had to say about phantasms, that would actually take us even further away from people thinking we are a pet class.

And maybe you should read the full responses instead of the first line of a post, hmm? Not once did I say the DPS was small for phantasms. What I said was that the Mesmer is a flashy class that can do anything and that relying on your phantasms as your main source of damage is limiting yourself.

So now everything you said basically sounds like you agree with me but didnt read what I said and you just jumped to conclusions thinking I was begging for a buff.

Obviously when comparing clones to phantasms… as I did, it is DPS vs survivability until you shatter, then clones either become damage or further forms of survivability. I never once said I had problems with the DPS of our other skills that do DPS that are casted by the player, which I use quite often…. Once again you place the phrase “main DPS” into my mouth which I never said.

I also said that I do not leave out 3 phantasms purely for DPS as some lazy Mesmer do, so please read that part again. I said I prefer to take an active role doing DPS rather than summoning phantasms and sitting back like some of the others.

Meanwhile you jumped all over me as if I was asking for some major buff to Mesmers which I am not, I am asking for the game play of them to be more active and fun instead of just sitting with permanent cooldowns in DEs and clones that can never be used and or get off attacks because of targets dying or them dying themselves

Sleaze.3748

I do read your post. You keep mentioning that Phantasms are your main dps.
Well mesmer is a complex class. The dev wanted the player realize they have to choose between protection and shatter. This is what makes a mesmer interesting. No, although phantasms so a significent amount of dps, there are a few other skills that does a decent amount of damage. #2 main hand sword and great sword skills. Majority of mesmer’s skills are meant for survival. It doesnt matter if your clone dies, it matters if you die. If the devs gave a little bit more flexibility then the mesmer class will be overpowered.

Um I never said phantasms are our main DPS so please stop putting words in my mouth. Just as my quote says, phantasms are a dps skill, unless you find some way to disagree with that.

Also for my third time saying this, I am not looking for a DPS boost. I know how to play my Mesmer so stop talking about alternate points. I also love when people speak as if they know what’s on the devs minds when they created the class. You claim the devs wan us to choose between projection and shatter? Then why can you use projection and shatter at the same time so well in pvp? Yet you can barely get any skills off in a DE.

Thank you for explaining to me what Gs 2 skill does as I never mentioned anything wrong with it.

You really think allowing clones to remain up until the player ends combat will really make Mesmers OP?? Wow seriously….

Sighh another mesmer pve thread. Seriously, learn to play as a mesmer they are a powerful class. If you ware only using mesmer dps skills then you are doing something wrong.

I am sick of people thinking that our phantasms are our main source of DPS. They are secondary to the damage we can dish out and the boons/conditions we can deal.

I seriously wonder if people read posts before replying to them. Not once in my post did I say that Mesmer DPS was poor or that I had any trouble soloing in PvE or PvP…

My main point was focused on DEs and that there are too many factors that go into getting a shatter off in them and even in PvE in general. Between the target dying or your clones dying…. you would be very lucky to get a shatter off with one clone let alone all 3.

And would keeping clones up until you’re out of combat REALLY be that game breaking? I really doubt so, it would just allow us to actually shatter our clones in DEs and make the class actually fun to play in DEs.

As for what I said about phantasms, I also never said they were our main source of DPS, I just said it makes no sense to sacrifice DPS for DPS especially when they are even less reliable versions of shatter fodder. Also, if they ever did rework phantasms to just attack and despawn… obviously the DPS on them would need to be reworked, in fact it may even make it easier for the dev team to balance their DPS since so many other professions seem to constantly be shouting how OP they are. The only people this would affect are the lazy Mesmers who constantly leave 3 Phanstams out and never shatter.

Why Mesmer PvE is awkward

in Mesmer

Posted by: Sleaze.3748

Sleaze.3748

I think everyone can agree that Mesmers do well in PvP and even 1v1 PvE. But as soon as you take on a group of mobs especially one in a DE then the class gets extremely awkward and the most you can do it tab and auto attack each mob before they die.

Why is it so awkward in DEs?

Mostly cause illusions and phantasms either waste their cool down on a target that is going down fast or die themselves before doing much of anything. This leaves the mesmer in a constant cool down status getting lucky to have a phantasm get off his attack in time.

Don’t even think about shattering…. this mechanic just takes way too long between summoning your clones and then waiting for them to run to the mob (and possibly even getting destroyed before attacking). By the time this happens your target is down and shatter is wasted. Once again leaving you tabbing and auto attacking everything in sight.

While I agree with the other posts that some better and more reliable AoE skills would be extremely useful in DEs, I think they should first work on making the shatter mechanic useful in these situations. I think a decent start to this would to stop clones from shattering on targets death. Sure, they still have a problem of getting 1 shot by AoEs but at least it would allow us to maybe build up some clones in a DE to shatter with.

Now again I am talking strictly PvE and not PvP, but I think phantasms should be treated more as a skill that goes off once and disappears, not taking up any clone slots (this is basically how that act now since they are often killed immediately).

Phantasms are obviously our DPS skills while Clone skills do almost no DPS at all unless they shatter. They act as our defense unless we sacrifice them for more DPS which makes total sense. But why would I sacrifice a phantasm for less DPS than it can do on its own? This is counter productive and phantasms actually make shattering less reliable since they have so much less HP. This is why I would say to unlink Phantasms from shattering and acting as clones completely… Now I am sure lots of people will hate this since it will prevent them from summoning 3 phantasms and letting them do the work, but personally I would rather a more active role in the DPS than having my NPCs do it all.

Now I am not saying these are the only problems with mesmer, just saying this is why DEs and PvEing in groups is just extremely awkward at the moment.

Op definitely hasn’t played Mesmer much. Blurred frenzy has a crazy small radius, sword is good for pvp… Not so great for pve.

And mind wrack against a group of mobs requires all your clones actually surviving AND your target can’t die or you just lost your AoE. Too unreliable.

Mesmer is terrible at AoE and we just got worse.

Oh boy, I can’t wait to do an event where mobs die so fast my phantasms don’t even get their skills off in time and still go into cool down. Tabbing constantly and auto attacking everything sounds like fun fun times…..

Recharge Timers

Just wondering if they actually increased the cooldowns of the phantasm skills or just the recharge time between their attacks?

In my opinion increasing the cool downs of our main DPS skills makes absolutely no sense, especially in PvE where we are bordeline terrible. If they increased the time between attacks on the phantasms, that would ACTUALLY make sense because it would encourage people to shatter more for DPS instead of just leaving as many phantasms up as they can at all times.

Sure Mesmers are great in sPvP but they can’t balance the entire game based around sPvP….. at the most skills need to be separated. In fact I think it would have been smarter for them to decrease damage and keep the skills the same to encourage mesmers to shatter more…

Instead now they are just encouraging Mesmers to just equip GS and not bother switching weapons…

The nerf to chaos storm just makes no sense in my opinion…. it’s hard enough as it is for us to get AoE’s off…. PvE is gonna be just miserable now.

The lack of the "trinity" is just killing my PvE enjoyment

I think the OP has a point, I think what the developers need to realize is that without using the trinity they can’t use the same hate system as all MMOs. Right now before the fight begins there is no telling who will pull hate and by the time they do the only thing you can plan to do is kite…. not really any kind of a ‘new’ strategy that is being brought to a MMO.

I think in the case of boss situations there needs to be more of a ‘party’ hate system instead of a single target. Where the boss is not specifically targeting one person and instead focuses on changing targets often or blasting AoE’s around the room. When any one target is focused on by any NPC then the game does lose its fun factor.

So far I am really loving this game and haven’t missed the trinity until I started dungeons. Right now dungeons seem to be a mess right now, but I dont think they are beyond fixing. It’s just going to take some creative game design to make them work like everything else in the game so far.

I don’t understand why you’re so concerned with stealth on mesmers right now. Sure we have a few different stealth skills, but anyone that would use all of them in a single build is seriously g.imping their own potential by doing so.

Almost every other skill slot has options that are way more effective. In fact the only stealth that I think is worthwhile is decoy while the rest are pretty useless. I guess I could understand you’re issue with it when the the Prestige was bugged giving mesmers almost endless stealth, but that issue was fixed weeks ago.

For someone to be saying that mesmers are ‘dancing around in stealth’ almost makes me wonder if and how much time you have actually spent playing them because someone that sits the entire fight in stealth will likely lose his phantasms and not be winning any 1v1’s.

edit: g. imp is a filtered word???

I totally agree with the OP and have had a lot of fun so far with sPvP but it is slowly getting boring and tedious. For now it still has my attention and I don’t plan on giving up, but I can’t really see myself even hitting level 40 let a lone level 80 without losing interest in its current state.

Perhaps if sPvP gear had stats that could be used in WvW as well that would give me motivation to stick with it. Unfortunately, gear for just aesthetics is much less appealing than something that can actually be used.

With that said, the game is still really new and I am confident they will implement something to keep us interested down the line.

Seem to be having the same issue as above, game ran flawlessly until today’s update, now can’t break 12fps even on lowest settings. Updating drivers to see if that works as a solution but has anyone else experienced an extreme FPS drop from this update?

Crossing the two would mean PvE’ers can look bad kitten in PvP and vice versa without actually doing any of it.

I think you’re misunderstanding his question. He wanted to allow spvp players to use their hard earned skins on boring looking over gear.

Not allow pve players to bring skins into pvp

In my opinion I think they should allow spvp gear to be shown off more than just one tiny confined zone.

mesmer clones are OP

Is this seriously a thread? OP needs to L2P cause there are too many ways to tell which are clones and which are real…

besides clones do absolutely no damage…

oh and btw this class was created based on tricking players into not knowing which is which and they didnt even get it 100% right…. seriously L2P

So you took a statistic someone else made up on a forum for a completely different game…. Well played…. Anyways my point had little to do with why people are playing these classes and instead why they’re complaining so much. Seems like any class right now that excels with a specific task is suddenly “op”

I think with the exception of maybe two classes people are playing the wrong builds and giving up too fast. A glass cannon build isn’t gonna work for everyone. Try getting creative…

I’m shocked a thief needs to ask this. Just mark the Mesmer before he gets clones up. His clones also dont have off hand weapons or buff and debuff icons. Dodge or stealth if you see a phantasm animation. Then haste steal and spam pistol whip like every other thief.

Couldn’t agree more with the OP. Does anyone else find how ironic it is that in the same breath someone will complain about a glass cannon class with insane dps and then also complain about the class that probably hits the weakest of all classes yet just has amazing survivability?

Seems like a lot of people cry whenever they get challenged. I die and win a lot on all my classes and haven’t yet found a class I haven’t been able to take down one minute then die to them the next.

I seriously think the trend in certain classes is from all the qq on message boards getting people to see what all the fuss is about.

I believe that less than 15% of players are reading the official forums. So if you did notice a trend it probably means more on the current balance than you actually think.

Love when people make up their own “statistics”….

Stop complaining and start paying attention to which is the real mesmer…

Anytime I play on my mesmer against someone who knows the handful of signs as to which one is really me, they shut me down instantly. And anytime I play on my other classes against a mesmer, I can easily shut them down cause I know which one is really them. I feel that most of the people QQing on these forums are the tab targeters who mindlessly attack whatever their tab target lands on first. Mesmers don’t “hit hard”, my theif hits hard and has low survivability…. my mesmer just manages to get some hits in but has high survivability. Unfortunately there are a few things that give away which Mesmer is the real one, once you know this… almost any class can out DPS a mesmer.

This post isnt just about mesmers tho, I feel that there is too much complaining about class balance in this game. I feel that things are off to a great start although far from perfect for many classes (even the classes most often complained about still have bugs against them).

I think the biggest issue most people are having is that they are focusing on learning their class only and no other class…. then running to the forums when they can’t beat someone. Ironically the trick is that you need to learn the other classes to predict their game play. In sPvP any skilled player who knows the classes can shutdown the other no matter what class they play.

The only class I believe needs some work to catch up to the rest is maybe Necro or ele’s, the rest of the classes I have witnessed both skilled players and terrible players.
