For me always Thief. My first character too. I’ve leveled all classes to 80 except Warrior and liked them all for various reasons. But, it always comes down to just loving the dagger/dagger pistol/pistol thief. Daredevil is a nice change of pace too!

I leveled my Thief using a D/D condition build. Focus in Condition Dmg and Power gear. Get the Caltrops skill ASAP.

The fight goes something like this:

1. Steal to initiate fight.
2. Hit Caltrops to start the bleeding DoTs and root the target(s).
3. Hit Death Blossom.
4. Hit Death Blossom.
5. Auto-attack or reapply Death Blossom bleeds until mob is dead.

Using this you can just watch groups of mobs melt right in front of you. As you get more comfortable with the GW2 playstyle you can mix in a more advanced attack by switching weapon sets in the middle of the fight. I use P/P as my backup set.

1. Steal to initiate fight.
2. Hit Caltrops to start the bleeding DoTs and root the target(s).
3. Hit Death Blossom.
4. Hit Death Blossom.
5. Dodge backwards and switch to Pistols.
5. Auto-attack or Unload depending on initiative available.

Also, learn to use the skill you get from the Steal skill. Each mob type will give you a different skill (a stun or blind or buff), you can anticipate it and plan to use it. They can be pretty useful especially in tough fights.

Use the skill point setup that gives increased dagger and pistol damage. When you can, get the skill that allows your pistol shots to bounce to other targets.

I finished my acheiv tonight. Went back to get my weapon skin and decided to stick around to help. A 30 minute Boom-Boom fight wore me out. I just can’t go back.

I’ve was able to finish my LS achievement tonight. I still think the design of the BB is flawed. The groups I got tonight weren’t any better at clearing the bosses in time, I got bronze all three times I ran it. But, at least people weren’t bailing on it like last night.

I’m done with BB now. I’l leave this thread with some positive comments:

1. Loot – I was able to get a sweet Queen’s Greatbow with the festival ticket. I appreciate Anet letting us get a great weapon skin from completing the event, instead of rng tickets. Very well done. No little loot for one big one….nice trade actually.
2. Dolyak racing was a blast.
3. I appreciate being able to get some of the special nodes and back pieces I missed from previous LS chapters.

Tonight in BB was even worse than last night. I spammed chat for help with Boom-Boom and no one ever came to help. Then, after we missed silver, everyone else got frustrated and left.

So, I paid money to get nothing at all for my efforts.

I did two full runs of Boss Blitz last night and couldn’t get my daily done. Ex. with no drops I only had 30% on Recycler and 20% on Daily Killer. So I ran to Wayfarer and did some gathering and mobs, Maw popped while I was there so I stopped to help. I got more and better loot from 5 mins of Maw than I did from 2 hours of BB. Got my daily done too.

I give it a strong thumbs down. No loot makes it just a boring grind. At least drop us some mats and boss bags. I came back just for this event, because last time was so awesome. I levelled my Guard to 80 in it. This time…not.

They really screwed up an awesome event. Last time it was epic! Now, I’ve run it once and don’t want to run it anymore. At least drop mats….

I love the unified system and would be sad to see it rolled back.

I love all these ideas. Especially the RP and map stuff.

I’m in the same spot as the rest of you guys in this MF screw up. I lost a lot of hard work and gold in this change across 5 level 80’s.

I completely agree with the last few posts. I was unhappy with the change originally and as time has passed I’m only getting angrier. Not the screaming on a MMO forum angry, but the cut my losses, move on to something else and not look back kind.

The worst part is the complete lack of any response. That is uncalled for. We played the game the way it was designed, we spent our money on it, we enjoyed it. We deserve some kind of response.

The sad thing is that two weeks ago I was loving this game.

The positive outweighs the negative in the long run in my opinion. Hey, it freed up six slots in my bag. Permanent magic find that I don’t have to think about? Good in my book.

Since it cost me 3-4g a slot on 4 different characters. Not. Worth. It.

I had 4 80’s with full exotic MF gear. They all had Zerker and PVT too. The ability to change it is useless to me. Way to go. Seriously.

P.S. I just found out I got screwed on my monthly too. Yeah

I was one day away from finishing the monthly….This is the second time I was screwed this patch. Wow.

WvW is pure patience. You should be able to get all but a few points in a couple of nights, but I had to wait months for sides/colors to be reset to get the last couple.

The PvE zone that threw me was Fields of Ruin. It is kind of hidden and not a high traffic zone. I got to 98% and couldn’t figure out why I wasnt @ 100%. Turned out I was missing the whole zone.

This news disappoints me. I have 4 80’s and a level 77. The first thing I do when I get a character to 80 is set up their exotic gear. One set of DPS (zerker), one set of WvW (w tough), and a MF set. I have compelte sets for all the 80’s and I almost have the complete set for the 77.

If they pull MF out I’m not going to be a happy guy. I can’t see any way they can possibly compensate me for the trouble and expense I have gone through to get it for all my characters.

Thanks for the help! I was missing a zone tucked away at the bottom of the map: Fields of Ruin. I swear I did it already. After 4 80s I guess it all starts to blur together.

I’ve been working at map completion for months now. I just “finished” and I’m not getting it. I figured I missed some spots along the way so I checked and all the maps for each zone says they are 100%. So I figured I missed some temp content stuff, but I check there and it shows that I already have it, checked WvW too. When I look at my World Map it shows that I’m missing quite a bit of content. Like I’m missing an entire zone. But, not when I look at the zone maps.

I find nothing missing when I look at each Zone Map.

Any ideas?

I ran out of ori axes on three characters last night. I didn’t buy any new ones because I thought this would be coming out this patch. I’ll do everyone a favor and buy new ones, so 5 minutes later they can add an emergency patch to add them. You’re welcome! :P

GW2 changed my expectations for a mmorpg. Active combat, multiple weapons, active content and events, PvE-PvP and WvW. Even after 4 lvl 80s I still find that I love it.

I still go back to SWTOR and LoTRo regularly because I love the lore and the worlds. But, the static gameplay gets to me.

And I still claim I will go back to TSW someday, but it gets less and less likely.

GW2 is here to stay.

Over a hundred chest opened and no tickets.

I love the gauntlets from the dungeon, but was disappointed that the weapon skins didnt drop in there too. (If they do, they must be very rare) I figured they would be rare at first release and then easier to obtain from the dungeon later…

I’ve got one POI and one vista (both in the same keep) to go for map completion…I’ve been waiting to get those for over two months.

My server seems to be green all the time and nver blue, which is what I need. That keep is right next to the home teams main castle, so it NEVER flips. I check practically every night too…

It really is a nice game. I played it at launch and found it to be a blast. I left the game after only a few months because all my friends stopped playing and my guild died.

But I have to say the stories of Ascalon and the Dwarves are worth taking the time to check out. Also, the monk class is awesome, it’s the only healing based class I’ve ever played and loved.

P.S. I bought it on Steam last weekend and checked it out again.

I’ve played since Early Access and I have 4 level 80s and a level 40 and I have never gotten a single one.

Hint: as you look for the objects on the ground press the Ctrl key it will make nameplates for all interactive objects visible.

Same here on Ehmry Bay during prime time.

Last night I got booted when Shatterer was around 70% health, I logged back in and helped get him to 10% health and got disconnected again. When I logged back in….nothing. No chest to loot.

It’s pretty frustrating since I’m a casual player and don’t have time to sit and camp dragon spawns all night. One or two group events a night is what I get if I’m lucky.

Edit: Also, I don’t have any disconnect problems anywhere else in the game and I do run Teq and CoJ regularly.

I’ll only go with chars I’ve played in the last week.

I 100% agree with the OP. I’m in the same spot, all my lvl 40+ chars have 3 sets of gear (PVE, WvW,MF) and this is a game where collecting cool armor sets and unique weapons is a big part of the fun. Also, my chars are all levelling 2 trade skills. Cooking alone takes up 1/3 of my bank slots. And yes, I have the guild bank set up.

Many other games let you have lots of tabs and even allow you to label and organize them. I’d love to be able to do that. Some of us just enjoy collecting stuff.

P.S. I’ve never had too many mats, between alts and guildies I always need more.

Are you aware of the pipe organ in Ebonhawk? It’s in a 2nd story room only accessible from the balcony at the southern most part of the city, under the Vista. I found it last night and thought it was pretty cool!

I love this idea! I know I could really use it. My bank is overflowing with karma/holiday armor sets for my three main characters.
