In all fairness to the OP, the guardian could have had 25 stacks of life. Stacks are OP and need to be removed. That along with kitten Skyhammer. That is all.
I am also an older pvper who could not agree with you more. I grew up playing on Vallon Zek EQ and have recently gone back to playing some Vanilla wow. The reward and accomplishment system needs a drastic boost in order to make it worth your time.
Yes. Seems to have been down for around 30 mins. now. They must be working out credit terms to have the servers on for another year….
You all please leave Silentshoes alone. His comic relief is invaluable and these forums would not move an inch without him…carry on Silentshoes.
Very nice post Kavia. Keep up the good work in the forums and in game. Cheers.
Use the “KISS” principle. Revive, Stomp and don’t die. “Keep it Simple Stupid”
Here is a suggestion that might help in the short term: How about a little more time between the que pop and the match starting. This will allow players to determine the best composition for the map/group, be able to adjust (switch toons) and still be able to communicate with newer players should they be clueless (I had an engineer on my team this morning who had no idea where the point he was to cap existed).
Great build Jasher. Nice counter to lockdown Warrior build.

I hope Anet can answer that 1 ^ Cause they said the rosters were hidden and it wouldnt happen.
The rosters are hidden. SYNC is a timing variable players are using not an addition and deletion from a roster.
isnt a solution cause ppl farming hot join i saw so many rank 40 50 playing like a noob
What is hotjoin for higher level players? Farming? Testing new builds? Learning a new class?
So you are essentially saying that those same level 40-50 who are farming 8 v 8 hotjoin will also do so in a ranked solo que match? I like the chances of a rank 40-50 not acting like a nub rather than a newer player. YES, there are exceptions.
(edited by Snate.2961)
They need to implement a minimum level rank requirement of at least 10 to enter SOLO QUE RANKED. If you are under rank 10 then you must do TEAM QUE RANK or hotjoin.
Yes, the que times will be longer but it seeks to ensure that a player has a basic understanding of conquest and the various maps (notice I left “their class” out).
If you are under rank 10 then you can do TEAM QUE or Hotjoin to rank up. This gives younger players something to work for as they rank up. It also indirectly serves to “declutter” the SOLO QUE Leaderboard with alt accounts.
(edited by Snate.2961)
One way to solve this would be to implement a minimum level 10 rank requirement to enter the SOLO QUE ranked match. If you are under level 10 then you need to do TEAM ranked que or hotjoin before u can enter SOLO que ranked. If you are a higher ranked player on an alt account then too bad. This takes care of clutter in the rankings as well as one of the ways to ensure that players have a clue before trying to go for the leaderboard.
Talk about needing more reason to play spirit ranger…don’t let your players die. I think I will stay out until they fix this.
Not sure if it is the same but this used to occur right after major pvp patch.. “Respawn loading screen bug”. Logging in and out before match seemed to reduce your chances of “catching” it but that was never 100%. Report, report, report.
Revive, Stomp and don’t die.
Ok but let spirits attack then.
You can’t compare them with minions, spirit weapons or turrets. They’re not designed to do the same thing and they’ve got a very long 60s CD btw.Shield of avenger and bow of truth have 60 secs cds and they don’t attack. Have lower hp and die if you use a skill (if not traited for it).
No, instead the bow shoots at allies healing them and the shield creates a Shield of Absorption during combat. Regardless, those are Spirit Weapons, minions are minions, turrets are turrets and spirits are spirits. They are all their own entities.
My point was to show that neither one of those spirit weapons attack and they have 60 sec cds. You can try to individualize them, but in the end they are all summons with different properties.
Lol, so you agree – they have different properties. In the case of minions and guard sprits they follow you. Rangers have to spec into that, otherwise they are like turrets. Difference between turrets and Ranger spirits, the turrets auto attack where I have to be active for my spirits to do anything.
They are all different things, and as you explicitly say, they have different properties. CD is one of them.
Spirits act as party-wide signets releasing a buff in an aoe-radius. It’s cd is low compared to spirit weapons because it begins when it’s summoned. You have a complete spirit weapon build when you go into 1 trait-line. For a guard, he’d have to go into 3 different traitlines to achieve a decent spirit weapon build. Even so, if the spirit weapons are killed, it’s over for the guard. They don’t have the sustain to live through things without utilities (No condi cleanse, no easy access to protection, no evade skills).
If we were to compare:
—————————————————
Spirits have a trait which make them more tanky. Spirit weapons do not.
Spirit weapons can attack yes, but they die so easily and their attacks are so subpar it’s not even worth it.
Spirits can trait to being useful when they die. Spirit weapons—when they die, it equates to FML.
Sure, you have to trait into spirits following you, but it’s not as stupid as the trait “When spirit weapons are commanded, they do not die” —- If we want spirit weapons to be viable we HAVE to take that trait, and that’s pretty stupid. We have a trait that also makes them last longer, but when they get focus-fired, it doesn’t even matter, the cd will always be 60 when they die.Yes they are all different. But spirits have the better—if not overpowered, design. They are passive, but they also have active skills. They can’t attack, but they can almost act better as a shield (via bodyblocking) than the shield of the avenger. Plus, they are given to the most weapon-wise self sustaining class ever that already has a pet. Just with a spirit ranger alone, you can mitigate aoe + give your allies buffs without even trying.
I’m not going to sit around and say that a gun is just as good as a sword in battle even though they are different. Why not give everyone something that has the potency of a gun? Or give a class better weapon skills to sustain while sacrificing valued utility slots. Spirit rangers are the bottom-dwellers of no skill.
Excellent post. Could not have said it any better.
The deathshroud aspect that you explain in #2 needs to be reworked. Very difficult to take down a necro with lifeforce with the current meta necro build.
I actually thought that doing research online was an integral part of playing an MMO. In the days of growing up on Everquest we were lucky to have online access to maps with locations and co-oridantes that we could print out. Lazy, lazy, lazy, players who never had to play in four feet of snow with a Dial Up Connection…
Same here. :P
Best we could hope way back when was EQAtlas and Allakhazam/Caster’s Realm/Lucy being accurate. I was really into doing that research. I think it’s something that all games need to encourage in some form or another, with as little pain as possible. That, and adapting to whatever the devs throw at you. :P
Bah. Carebear EQ players had it way easier than us UO players. Not only did we have dailup (for really reals), but we had people, like me, who would kill you and take all your stuff.
Or, more often because it was more challenging, “Thy gold or thy life, knave!”
Lulz…I was no “Carebear” thank you. I grew up on the Red server Vallon Zek (coin only loot). If you really had the “cajones’” you went for Rallos Zek (Item gank). UO was a tough platform. Good to see some of us “oldschoolers” around.

Cannot log in as well.. I guess keep on trying.
As some have pointed out above: emotes/commands that you can save and load into chat instead of having to type…..
Learn and play the other classes.

You cannot discredit the thought, effort, and time the threader took to try and improve the pvp experience though…
Yes, Anet actually instanced a similar type of pvp map over their “Wintersday” festivities. The “Snowball fights” were 8 v 8 matches (if I remember correctly) with your choice of 4 different classes to play. 2 teams would start at their respective “peaks” located on two geographically equal points fixed to a delayed spawning orb at the base of the peaks. The team goal was to capture the orb and return it to your respective base. Rinse, repeat.
I really enjoyed this map (as I worn slick of the current line-up) and I hoped that the post Wintersday release of the “Spirit Watch” map would closer resemble this type of map. Yes, in Spirit Watch they introduced the orb but also came the various glitches, bugs and nerfs that followed (which were to be expected and still evolving). Obviously with only the 4 classes and “locked” skill sets to choose from, ANET was able to “pre-balance” this instance fairly well.
I do like your treb suggestion and it adds another interesting twist to allocation of resources (what your fellow teammates are doing) while reintroducing the treb in a different context other than Kylo.
To build upon your thought process:
1. Team with control of the orb could not score the orb if their home base was below a certain “resource” level.
2. Treb as well as player damage could deplete these levels (similar to a wall in WvW)
3. The means to repairing the base could be obtained at random nodes spaced out on the map. These could be fought for like random popping buffs.
4. Repairing base is similar to repair on WvW wall.
This might be a way to bridge some of the WvW conquest (break down gate, crush resources, defend, reinforce, counter attack) into PVP conquest method (point holding).
Typical business models will thrive and flourish when they are able to adequately meet and exceed their customer’s needs, wants and demands. Remember, ANET is a business first (a young one at that) and still has to “pay the bills” so to speak. Until they are able to meet the ever changing needs, wants and demands of their MMO customer base (most especially the pvp customer base) no good company will ever discount the valued thoughts, opinions, and suggestions of its current customer base.
Props to you for your suggestions and taking the time to express them. Cheers.

Do you not know? If you reroll ranger right now, you get a free warrior as your pet! Don’t miss that opportunity mate!
good fuzzy warm cudly kittens.
they should change it to “meow” just for kittens and giggles.
Why are there 2 sets of data that are displayed showing different leaders as I page through?
Update the map please and thank you.
+1
Good post with some good ideas. Hope it helps.
Evan is very cool. Keep coming into the mists and playing. Thanks again for your efforts.

Add me as well Follidus. I can help with guards NA if you need an extra perspective.
great idea. thank you again blinx.
Yes, they should add a 2 v 2, 3 v 3, and 4 v 4 arena type death match.
If this is even a possibility though lets try to focus on the “KISS” principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) here. Meaning, start small with a 2 v 2 concept and progress forward.

The same thief 3 different times waited to stealth, spike, and then stomp to give the loading screen bug 3 times in a match. Exploit, exploit, exploit…
