lots of QQ. I play both a Warrior and a Thief and both of them can be great… My warrior can self stack 22 stack of might while having 35% chance to crit and still sport 1.9k toughness and 27k hps….
A dps stealther sports almost no toughness, 14-15k hps… Stealth tries to make up for the rest and you CAN smack the crap out of them while they are stealthed.
We going to start QQing about mesmers being able to confuse you next? I wish more people would put in the effort to learn how to play the game instead of come here and cry about something.
Now Varnoth brings up a real issue, I think they should change the way that works. Whoever has the most people in the point should start taking it after killing the NPC.
Yeah nerf all the high dps thief builds If you root a thief with dps build he is dead meat, they run around with 13kish hps and almost no toughness.
I have “studied” the thief class with kitten near every build available… I mean sitting for hours calculating dps, damage, estimating survivability to come up with a build I think is the best bang for you buck as a thief. The thief builds that are high DPS (which most people are “scared” of) are honestly not very effective because they are 1 trick ponies and work in spurts. So in a 1v1 given a not so great player they are godly but once they blow their cooldowns and used up their initiative they are sitting ducks. Kinda like some of the warrior builds out there
That being said, when against those thieves…. Blow both block and immunity then charge them with your stun and kill them. Keep in mind you can hit them just fine when they are in stealth so if you rooted and they stealth, keep swinging. When I run up against the glass cannons that is what I do as a thief vs another thief.
thats one way to play thief.
Are WvW imbalanced the reason for the SWTOR-like fall of GW2 numbers on Xfire?
in WvW

I do not see it. I SWTOR I saw a drastic drop of players but here I see the same faces all the time. I"m not saying the population is not going down but I still see plenty of people around where in SWTOR places that were full started looking like a ghost town.
Depends on what you want to do bud. I personally run a pistol/dagger bleed/survival build and love it. However my friend runs a DPS burst build and also loves it, we are both very effective in different situations.
My build can take on multiples survive and kill (slowly but I kill em) he can jump in smack the hell out of someone and get out of dodge. I personally like my build better but I also love it when we run together and once I get someone down to 50% he gets them dead in seconds.
… for the sake of wvwvw.
If you always win, be it through arguments or games, eventually no one wants to contend with you anymore, culminating in less competition and players altogether.
Just something to ponder.
Edit: Flamecoat on
This concept makekitteniggle. Break up an alliance because they work well together so other disorganized people can be more competitive. All that does is lower the bar, it is like grading on a curve, now that the curve is lower the rest feel they are better when they really are just as bad as they used to be and have no reason to get any better because the bar was lowered.
Tonight in WvW I was standing in front of a Tower and an enemy Warrior walks across the bridge and BOOOOOM one shot! Looking at the combat log it appears that I was hit by an 18.7k Kill Shot. Granted the engie alt I was on was only level 21.
So I am just curious, what does it take for a Warrior to be able to do that? Thanks!
A spontaneous class change to a thief would do that.
[Edit]
And in case this isn’t actually a troll post, your combat log would have told you what you were hit with.
Von, get informed He actually said “kill shot” which is a warrior skill. I played warrior all beta and they are amazing. My alt is a warrior because if you know how to spec them they are insane.
I think it should be looked into but I’m not sure what the results would be, maybe anet can run some data and see how it would impact the scores on the servers.
One of the main problems with condi vs power builds in pvp is: when you manage to hit your power ability, the dmg is unleashed on the opponent and he can’t do anything to prevent it anymore, but with condi build even if you hit your spell (opponent failed to dodge for example) , your opponent can still almost fully prevent it with condi removal. Even if you hit all your opening Death blossoms and get 9 stacks of bleeds, any player with common sense will cleanse it right away and you are left with mhmm, no initative.
Considering the amount of condi removing abilities/traits (and there is a lot of them) condi build are very unreliable for pvp.
Considering condi ignores toughness, do you think this is a fair exchange?
This is why the DB build fails to be honest. Now in a group scenario it can be ok but honestly it sucks. Thats why I moved to a pistol/dagger where my 1 applies bleeds every time I hit so they can remove but i re-apply for 0 initiative.
Now one thing you have to think about is there are two kinds of power, the power you get from gear and the power that you get from your spec. Do not forget that the power that comes from your spec also increases bleed duration so it is actually MORE effective then going down conditions for bleed. Lots of players overlook that small detail and get 30 in the wrong tree when trying to increase condition damage.
Ty spart. Yeah you have to be patient as it is a bleed build, against certain classes you have to be aggressive but against most it is just about waiting until they are dead. My build is based around a balance of DPS and Survivability, I did a lot of testing yesterday and move some things around along with redoing my runes. I “thought” I ran the best build for this play style but now changed it and think I now run the best build for this playstyle… Of course next week… lol
Here is a new vid.
I love RvR / WvWvW so this game is endless fun for me. I hate gear grinds…. WoW is the master of carrot on a stick and plenty of people love that, if that is you this game isn’t for you.
I like the idea of getting “fluff” for effort, give me cool skins to go for so my toon looks awesome but not items that are almost impossible to get and then give a completely crazy advantage in pvp.
Thats the thing many people don’t get and/or don’t like, this is a PvP game so you have to keep gear in check to let skill be the main reason for winning.
what you do is you roll a mesmer.
be nice if they ran something soon. The game is pretty stable, nicely balanced (as far as mmo’s go)… I would like them to put in some kind of decent grouping mechanism before they start advertising heavily.
WoW set the standard pretty high as far as ease of use for a game. GW2 even though it is an awesome game is “clunky” and missing many of the nice things WoW has to offer on a UI level so they need to make GW2 a little more streamlined on the UI, finding groups, creating raid parties in pvp etc. so the people who do try it do not walk away quickly out of frustration.
Who says they are losing players? From what I have seen the population has been nice on every server I have been on and the low pop servers (devona and kaineng) actually seem to have grown from day 1. You also see more full servers now then you did at launch so I’m confused as it seems the base of your argument is false.
sounds like thief just isn’t your playstyle. As a thief (with my build in particular) I will cluster bomb which does ok damage on the bleed but what I do that changes a fight is go BEHIND the enemy and take out their guys, take out their siege, or jump off and make sure the guys that go down get KBed because I can do it from stealth and get away.
Ohh and few things are more fun then going in, hitting spin to win, then see everyone back off as your force starts to push them around.
Now if you want to stand on a keep and bring the pain, this is the wrong class.
there ya go, that is one of my videos. I don’t spend to much time editing lol. I have a few up and probably going to upload a last one tonight as editing the videos gets boring real fast or me.
Similar to the build I run sometimes. Been around a while However you seem to be getting additional initiative, I personally think the back bone of any pistol dagger build is 30 in shadow arts for the heal. That heal makes a huge difference in pvp.
rofl, comes to QQ and doesn’t even know the most basic of the class mechanics.
Learn to play a thief then come post video You are pretty bad.
Ranja,
Yup they are friendly if you go up against people who are noobs but once you run into good players that cookie cutter spec will require a lot of skill to pull off and live.
Warriors are another one that can be amazing and friendly against noobs but much harder vs a skilled player.
it should be but for reasons other then what you are thinking. Dealth blossom spec sucks long term and is horrid against a good player. It is only good against general noobs, I personally LOVE seeing a death blossom thief engage me…. I evade the blossoms and roll him.
lol that was funny, do a couple more with warriors, rangers etc so we can put this nerf everything to rest.
Shmerrick.9168
Nice way to just come in and QQ because there was 1 guy you couldn’t catch. He was using a bow and a skill that uses initiative.
So then they should nerf YOU because if you spec just right you might be faster then everyone else in a certain situation.
I personally get away by using stealth. If you have an issue and want to know “how” someone did that with the class come ask, get some feedback then say something that is at least mildly intelligent.
This is nothing wrong here, stack that kind of gear on a warrior or almost any other class and they will do similar things.
Great team work, that is honestly what I see the most in the video.
As a warrior, this is the thief build you should be scared of.
Wolfe,
To each his own and honestly you can spec this Thief many ways and be effective. I was just eye rolling about how there was a theme that CnD somehow sucked because honestly it is amazing. Granted you run Pistol/dagger you need a good connection and skill or else you will get stomped but if you have skill you can be a major impact.
One thing I didn’t show (and forgot to video last night) was a zerg vs zerg fight and me in the back killing the guys that were on their siege which allowed our zerg to get in close. Hell they didn’t really even pay attention to me until after I killed two guys that were on siege and even then they never killed me.
there are good uses for other builds but if you play Pistol dagger right you can single handedly distract the back end of a zerg allowing your guys to stomp them.
In DAOC I use to run a Stealther only guild and we made major impacts in fights, this game will allow the same. You get 4-5 good Thief’s together and they can swing a battle with all the disruption they can cause.
lol…
yup yup cloak and dagger sucks…. We only have 1 viable build and none that have dagger as offhand?
L2P?
It is amazing how little each of you know about the other class before crying in the forums.
First off his build SUCKS.. Yeah looks impressive in 5 second bursts where he blows ALL of his cool downs and kills a person or two and then goes on a 60 second timer before he is useful again. He has to play like that because he has zero toughness, zero defense. The thief in that video is a glass cannon and is honestly IMHO a crappy way to play one.
With that said, the original poster needs to learn how to play warrior. A warrior can do things just as crazy if you build them right, but again I would also consider that a crappy way to play a warrior because WvWvW and even sPvP is not a 1 on 1 fight.
I have ran into a few warriors that know what they are doing on my thief and they mowed me. They are actually the only class that if played well can mow mykittendown without to much problem. A warrior with little skill is easy to pick off though.
Also a warrior who knows how to use his shield and has high toughness and vitality iskittennear unkillable.
