Go down to the video and skip to 15:20 where Colin Johanson talks about which Elder Dragons in his opinion have the best potential for an expansion. This was said in March last year…
Feel free to talk about this

I say we remove mistform, earth of armor and all conjure skills. That should teach them a lesson!
Ok, so since I don’t wanna bunker I have to go burst (sort of)? That’s just stupid, I wanna play my good ol’ supporting elementalist who throws a bunch of heals, does area damage and can still survive. Too much to ask Arena Net?!?!?
Hey there,
I’ve been sort of experimenting with builds on my elementalist and was wondering what the current meta was?
Thanks
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this idea yet but I think that a lot of zergs are formed from random people following a commander. The ability to have in game voice communication which only the commander could use I think would be really good. The commander would be only heard by people in the squad of course. This kind of feature could also be implemented into normal parties for dungeons and stuff in some way.
Anyone? Nothing to say anymore? Well then…
The great Orb Armageddon of 2013
Before I say anything I just want to thank Devon for actually trying to tease a bit of information at us. I also want to thank the forum users that tried and warned Devon about the consequences that would’ve happened to the community if they implemented them as a stat buff.
However, we still don’t even know what kind of a buff it will be? Did you guys fail to notice how they thoughtfully placed the wvw skills in the game not affecting open field combat. They knew what to do then and we didn’t even think about how it could affect open field combat because siege bonuses and keep stuff and guard stuff doesn’t affect open field combat. Notice how I use the word open field combat when I could just say GVG. Because thats what this is. If they are not smart they will not affect open field combat in wvw because, really, you guys that do gvg just enjoy the fighting in open field without any siege weapons.
I wouldn’t even mind a orb that gives some form of a buff to help the server that has the orb. Sure it may harm gvg but gvg actually isn’t in the game guys. If they really care about the gvg community we would already have arenas for it. I’m sure they know they would lose players if they killed of gvg so if they ever put in gvg it would be at the same time as the orbs i’m sure.
If you already want gvg in the game so badly sign this: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/official-gvg-setup-in-gw2/
I don’t even want to mention gvg in this thread and just say instead of killing of gvg, killing of fair open field combat.
PEACE OUT!
I really wish a developer would say something on this post so we knew that we aren’t just talking to thin air
I actually don’t even think that the buff is gonna turn out to be that bad, because unlike popular beliefs, Arena Net knows what they are doing and they aren’t stupid…
Also guys, on the note of gvg, there is this petition you might wanna sign: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/official-gvg-setup-in-gw2/
I’m sure the devs are reading our comments and will learn from this forum, I think they already know that they shouldnt put stat buffs in like they did before from all the people that said it xD
We don’t have evidence about how the orb is gonna work, so all we can do Is say what we do not want it to be
What if the buff isn’t a point or something like that? What if transporting the orb will just give points when delivered and that’s all? I mean I don’t think its gonna be something like this but you never know
Ok then, since everyone seems to hate stat buffs why not make a the waypoint cost money to use.
If they did this you could make the buff be something like:
Free waypoint traveling and stuff like increased siege power and supply capacity
If buffs are given to players in the open field then you’re killing off any small scale roaming, duels, and GvG’s – there’s just not enough variety in WvW and things have been growing stale for a while now. We finally have a booming GvG scene to liven things up and you’re effectively killing it off. It just seems so heavy handed and unnecessary given how unwelcome these buffs are, and how unwelcome they were in the past.
If you guys insist on keeping the buffs please make them only apply within keep/towers/castles and allow us to face other players/groups on an equal footing in the open field.
…there is that…
…or…when they put orbs back in…they could also put a Guild versus Guild game mode into the game called Guild Wars…
Just take any “openish” area with some interesting terrain in PvE, chop it off, shove a fence around it, boot it up on some servers, and let us kill each other in 15 v 15, 20 v 20, 25 v 25, and 30 v 30. No stupid capture rings, no arrow carts, just one side gets loot bags and the other one dies. Its that tried and true good ol’ fashioned team death match game mode. It’d blow anything and everything ever done in sPvP straight out of the water the day it went live and create a massive resurgence of competitive PvPers.
But it wont happen, because it’s a logical, rational, and genuinely good idea. How do I know it’s a good idea? Because they actually already did it before…
I’m just saying, the name of the game is completely unrelated to GvG and has to do with something else.
But everyone needs to calm the heck down. Did the Developer actually mention that there was going to be a stat buff? The answer is no. I’m sure if the devs already didn’t know it, they know now from this forum that no body wants the stat buffs, they won’t do anything like that. Arena Net isn’t a stupid company to put in something that players are gonna leave the game for. They still have time to change the orbs if they were planning to put them in the next update, so chill out and wait for the Devs to actually say something.
Or, if you wanna say something in this forum, make suggestions on how they should return the orbs of power since you are the people that are going to be actually palying the game, tell them how you want it to be.
Alright, since I made this thread in the first place, I guess I should probably say something :P
First of all, I think instead of wiping out the lake entirely they will make the quaggan shrine in the middle the capture point (on a tower so its harder to reach and you can spot groups easyer) which will win you the buffs of the orb. 3-5 minutes after taking the point and running away to capture points, the quaggans are going to come and try and re-take their throne (im talking veteran quaggans). Most servers would of had left maximum 2-4 people to guard this throne and thats just so a tiny group cant take it and as well as to scout since it is the perfect spot to do just that.
Now the rewards I had in mind for holding the point, that would not affect the gvg people are as follows:
+ 25-33% faster point capture speed
+ 20% DMG and DEF against guards
+10% Increased repair speed
+10% Ram damage
As you can see, these buffs would definitely help even a small server beat the big server because of all the buffs that are designed for capturing keeps, holding them and beating the guards. The tower would not be too hard to take however because of the quaggans that are going to be trying to take the tower, even if they just try and hold the tower, there is no point because they wont have enough people to protect their keeps, even from a smaller server.
I think this wouldn’t hurt the gvg community since they dont fight for keeps in gvg (as far as I know) and it would help the smaller servers fight the bigger ones. The bigger servers can also take it of course
Orbs of Power seem like an awesome thing to bring back and it could massively change the wvw from just zerging. I saw a post from a dev that they are gonna be bringing them back so we might as well use this post to discuss how would we like to see them come back.
I just think it would be nice if you could replay story modes in dungeons without having to find people who still haven’t done that particular dungeon. It might even make more people do these dungeons. Thoughts?
So I know this topic has been brought up many, many times and I know thakittens already been said that the answer to Guild vs Guild is no, however I am going to talk about some interesting points that may give you another think about Guild vs Guild in Guild Wars 2 and no I am not just gonna say it should be in the game because its called guild wars so just take a seat and read through what I wrote. (post is quite lengthy)
How its going to work:
So to unlock guild vs guild a guild would have to unlock it using influence and guild merits. It is going to cost a lot of both so you make sure that the guild fights aren’t too small and only a bigger guild could make that amount of merits and influence. Once you unlocked it your leader gets the option in the guild panel to invite another guild to a guild battle. You can only invite guilds in your region (EU or NA) The menu for inviting another guild will be under the guild missions tab. In the invitation you can specify how many people are allowed in each guild and how many rounds is the battle going to be (best out of 3 for example). If the guild leader declines well he declined it and that’s the end of that but if he accepts the leader gets the roster of people in his guild. He then chooses the people that he thinks should do the battle and they get an invite. If some of them decline he gets the menu again and chooses again. There is going to be information about how many of which class he chose displayed to him so he knows he has a good combination of classes. The number of people allowed on both teams is the maximum you can have but the leader can say his guild is ready even if he doesn’t have that many people. Once your guild is ready you are going to be automatically taken to an instance similar to those in wvw except smaller where your guilds get 5 mins to prepare. Once that is done you charge into battle and whoever wins more rounds wins. There will also be a time limit so people don’t just hide. Also your guild leader will have your guild banner displayed on the mini map so you don’t get lost. You get guild merits, banner tonics, influence, karma and GUILD REPUTATION (will talk about guild reputation later). You can do guild battles for multiple guilds if you so wish but obviously can’t do two at the same time so you won’t show on a guilds rooster for choosing gvg people if you are already in a middle of a gvg.
Benefits of adding this to the game:
The answer to this is quite simple actually. To add more end game and more stuff for the hardcore players to do. If people could do more stuff with their guilds i’m sure they would stop complaining about lack of end game. This will also further expand this guild system and make you guild community that much better because most of your friends in gw2 are from your guild after all.
Reputation and unlocking stuff in guild panel:
So once you get reputation you are going to be able to buy of course more plain upgrades that aren’t nothing special but you can unlock more awesome and permanent stuff. I’m talking about guild villages and guild halls. Now i’m not gonna talk about how much reputation its gonna cost but the more houses you want to have the more you have to pay to upgrade your village so for every 10 houses its x amount of reputation. But these houses aren’t free of course and this is where you guys make money. To rent a house (there is no buying in case you quit and your guild doesn’t want you to have a house anymore) you have to pay with gems and once you use your rent ticket you will get a specific house for a month.
House features and upgrades:
Your house is going to serve as a second bank separate from your guild and personal one. They are however gonna be shown in the same window so you can transfer items between them super fast. You can upgrade this houses functionality by spending guild commendations to add storage. You can buy house decorating guides in the gem store however to edit the looks and how much space your house has.
Guild hall features and upgrades:
Now your guild hall will be a kind of community gathering place that replaces LA and your entire village can be visited by other people if they go to a portal. You go to your guild village by going through a portal after which you get a window which you choose a village from. Your leader can re-name it. Your guild hall can be upgraded to allow for further expansion of your village and adding things like portals to pvp, wvw and crafting stations.
In conclusion that’s pretty much my entire idea and if you made it this far i salute you :).
Some things are a bit unrefined but Arena Nets job is to come up with ideas so :D
I just hope Arena Net realizes how happy the players would be for more end game and more content. You can put this in the next expansion if you so wish but id be happy with it just being in the game. Its pretty much money to be earned for Arena Net and content to play for us :D
I actually quite like the idea. It will also add a bit more tactics for example while the enemy server is escorting the orb their whole zerg will be near the dolyak as it needs to stay alive. But during this time you could take their keeps as a distraction. This could cause them to leave the orb while you kill the dolyak and take a keep somewhere else
WvW needs more variety and not just be like:
Put siege > Take tower> Run off To another tower>put siege>take tower> Lose tower> run to tower> put siege> take the tower back> lose tower…
Im just curios about the whole deal with orbs of power. I think bringing orbs of power back to world vs world would make it a lot more interesting. Thoughts?
Adding a delay between the real match and the spectator mode will stop voice chat coordination between 2 players of which 1 is watching spectator and telling the other the locations of everyone. I haven’t seen anyone abuse this too much so far but it might become a problem later on.
I believe there is Guild Battles but you are looking in the wrong area. I said it before there old GvG is what the WvWvW is. No it is not the same but is similar in many aspects.
Zerging sometimes ruins it :/
Nowadays it’s standard to have observe-mode / custom servers and leaderboards in a game. They released GW2 just too early with the consequence that 80% of all players left after 1 month. So now they working under pressure to implement these futures for the rest of us. Imagine if custom arenas/spec-mode and leaderboards were there after 1 month of release. Would be a completely different game.
I don’t think its Arena Nets fault it was released to early, its probably NC Softs
Removing the AOE limit would be a good thing for every skill except for the ranger skill with the arrow shower. It would be too over powered. It would be fine for arrow carts since they are a siege weapon for defense after all.
You all have to realize that ArenaNet’s goal right after the launch was to fix and improve any already existing mechanics. For the first 6 months after launch they were really just focusing on getting the game to work as it should and improving what already exists. I’ve researched a lot about what ArenaNet is doing atm and the only thing I can conclude is that they are changing some stuff so later it is easier to add things such as GvG to the game. I didn’t play GW1 so I don’t know how they messed up the game but would you seriously play something that has broken mechanics.
You can’t expect them to change all the things in 1 months and still keep the game good for everyone
Well I just thought about everything ANet has done in the past and realized a big part of all the updates had something involving sPVP and i’m sure all of us are great full as heck! I am excited for the spectator mode and the arena mode! I just wanted to take this moment to thank ANet for all the attention they give to sPVP
So as you know WvW is one of the more tactical activities in GW2 so I thought as a part of the WvW community I should think about what additions would be awesome?
After a whole school day I finally realized that there is no way to drop off supplies so my ideas were quite limited?!? And there I realized, dropping off supplies would be a great addition to the game on its own anyways!! So there I give my idea hoping that you will find the amount of tactical possibilities with this being added to the game.
I admit that it would be nice to have a space village guild.
but I think it would be smart for people to see the lobby, and do not join a guild.
Disappointed by chance they fall and can watch a register name, nominate. We could have visited allies, or knowledge that can come to the tavern of the guild.
The guild is installed on existing areas, or sea, sky etc. …
short, it does not isolate the guild in a small personal world.
Well you can visit the other villages but that’s about as far ANET can go in making this a shared thing because making something in the world will be impossible without a whole expansion
So the topic of guild halls is mentioned quite frequently on these forums but that idea is no where near good enough for this game. Not saying that its a bad idea to have a guild hall, im saying it should be on a bigger/more useful scale.
So instead of having just one building which to most guilds will just be a gathering point, we can have Guild Villages. These villages will be added to purchase with a lot of influence by the guild leaders. These villages will have an option to buy a guild hall but more importantly will have housing. This housing will be bought with gold and will have a small storage space that is NOT connected to your bank storage. You can also spend aditional gold for even more space (upgrading the house) and can personalize it a bit with furniture you can purchase in the guild hall and with color you can buy there as well. Purchasing guild village in the guild tab will also allow for many different guild specific upgrades.
How may we get to someone elses village or even our own? Well while going around Lions Arch i noticed a bunch of space across the main city portal platform. There will be one gate which can take you to the village of the guild you are representing (which will be labeled with your guild’s banners) and there will be another gate which when you go through gives you the option of choosing a village to visit (with the limitation of the village being on this server. I haven’t figured out how many houses there will be or how this system will work on guesting because the villages are server restricted. There is also the question of what happens when a guild transfers servers.
Those are all just questions for ANet to answer but for now this is a pretty good starter :)
So I was just reading through my personal story I did a while back and I came across the Claw Island missions and the text describing that mission for some reason just isn’t there. This I felt was a real shame because this is mission where the certain someone from the order of whispers sacrifices themselves (as far as I remember that is and I’ve said certain someone because I don’t want to spoil it for some people). This part of the story is pretty big so I feel it should be fixed (unless you thought you shouldn’t write more than a sentence in that part of the story which would be quite stupid)
So I thought it would be really cool if you added weapon and maybe even armor rename tags. This would allow you to change the name of a single weapon but it would make it soul bound. This would be especially cool for legendary weapons and it would sell A LOT!
WARNING: Before you go on to read about my idea note that I have not played Guild Wars 1 so I do not know if anything similar was already implemented in the last game so don’t reply saying stuff like it was already in the last game
THE IDEA:
So my friend came over to my house the other day and he doesn’t play Guild Wars 2, so i’ve been sort of showcasing it to him and after seeing WvW he started asking stuff like how big can the battles be and why does is the game called Guild Wars and i’ve realized we don’t really have any sort of competition between guilds do we? And after my friend told me this I replied to him that Arena Net doesn’t want to ruin the community with competition so he made the amazing idea of adding the annual GUILD OLYMPICS!
This will work just like normal Olympics except each guild will be a separate competitor having a team of maximum 15. Each server will have its separate Olympics and each server has its own winner, these winners will represent their servers in a region wide CHAMPIONSHIP!
This idea seems fairly hard to balance but if you can nail it it will be gold :)
Well in general just read the title and you will get what this is about, also if anyone from arena net is reading this remember to upload it to YouTube so we can laugh our butts of :D
So I was just minding my own business adventuring in Lions Arch and suddenly while doing this I noticed what seemed to be a NPC that looked exactly like me! Just the nose is different and im a bit smaller
I’m sorry, TP reset… when? Could you be a little more specific?
I think he was saying that when he reset his account the TP isn’t reset and then complained about that
This post was really all about your personality. The people that said that it needs to be more dark probabbly dress in darker clothes then those who say that it shouldn’t its just the mental state of players considering this I say its fine as it is. It would also be pretty hard to change all of the colors from a sudden. I think what you meant was a different atmosphere.
So when you go to Heart of the Mists and go check the wall of champions (next to that big statue) and check the monthly tournament winners, beta tournament winners and the yearly tournament winners, all of the board aren’t updated and are just saying Squad 1, Squad 2, Squad 3….
Is this just bugged for me or has it just not been updated?
The TP works as it is supposed to. You guys are either too greedy, either too selfish.
If you want to give something to someone, mail it. If you want to sell something, put the price you want in TPIf you’re going to sell anything to the TP, you might as well just vendor it.
Depends on the thing really, if you have always been selling to the vendors instead of either crafting or selling at TP you probably have very little gold at the momment
You know.. I don’t get the gw2 community, when someone wants something that is PERFECTLY FINE in any other mmo in existance. They say stuff like “THIS WOULD RUIN THE ENTIRE GAME AND WOULD NEVER WORK IN GW2!!!” when in fact things like this are in every mmo out there and work just fine, nothing wrong with them. This reminds me of the people that said player mail would break the game because no one would ever use the trade post. It’s not that big of a deal to add in trading, it’s not game breaking.. look at other mmos. Use your brain for once people.
Well right from the start GW2 wasn’t quite a regular MMO refering to its mechanics. This mechanics react differently to different things making GW2 so uniqe. But really it would probably just mess up the economy and increase the amount of lazy people in GW2 that think that mail is too slow.
So.. you’re saying that with a trade system.. absolutely NO ONE would use the trade post? lol edit: I’d also like to add that if someone is lazy.. they’ll just post something on the TP, trading would be alot of trouble for someone that is lazy, once again use your brain.
Not saying that nobody would use it its just that it would change probably for the worse, I also realised this can change by making a party only trading system which would probably be more easyer to monitor. Some people also don’t want to use TP for certain things because the price for them if I may say so is quite s**t.
So as you may have guessed from the tittle or noticed from playing the game, almost nobody is doing the story mode dungeons or is willing to help somebody else do it. Not so much the latter dungeons but I am still trying to get AC story completed without success. Its a bit annoying but I don’t know how this can be fixed. ANy suggestions or thoughts about this situation.

Spoilers much :P
Because a whole new storyline would have to be writen if you didn’t want to join anybody. Plus, who said the Order of Whispers was useless, they are perfectly fine so Im not too sure what your problem with them is. This really was a bit of a stupid question no offense
Well I sort of understand you but really don’t forget, it must have been really hard to make all these different paths you can choose and with the game already taking a huge amount of time to complete it would take a lot more to make emotions be a thing in the game. Im sure they will add something in the future regarding this so you might want to post this in the suggestions regarding more chosen by you emotions from your character.
So I’m not nearly completed with my personal story which is good for me because I quite like it, but recently I’ve been hearing from my friends that the story is going to end quite soon. So this is why I’ve come to a conclusion that Guild Wars 2 needs a bit more personal story added to it. Not to much at once but make it so that every month or two a new bit comes out sort of filling the puzzle in a cliff hanger that’s going to be introduced by the previous story. Also it would be quite nice If our hero had like a family member of some sort and the story revolves around them being taken or something so you gather heroes from all over land to go get them back. Just an Idea but the main point is more personal story just so we can keep ourselves entertained a bit longer
I agree some sort of a system to make trade easier should be implemented in the game, but its hard to think of one that wouldn’t ruin some of the other content. This trade system would also very much ruin the trading post quite a bit and the gems prices would change drastically as well I’m guessing
Your point might seem good at the moment but if you look at it, once they make the world darker its going to be to dark and you are going to want it to be more cheerful. The game would just be too depressing and with a depressed community it would really be a proper MMO.
In my case really depends on the person and the enemy. If you don’t like being a D/D combination you are gonna need to have a lot of attunment switching and a lot of kiting.
But the main reason an Ele really is durable is because they have lots of control abilities
