This is a change I would like to see.
They just need to add ranks with titles, like realm ranks from DAoC WITHOUT realm abilities or the skill points. Jade Quarry Sentinel or whatever instead of Invader. That kitten stuff keeps a large group of players (PvPers in particular) in the game.
I love the idea of Orbs or something like them in WvW, but I agree with this temporary fix 100%. Thank you Anet for having the courage to pull them for now.
I see a couple of the same people (from the same server and guild) do this all the time in WvW. The most annoying is an Ele with that FoTM D/D spec that thinks it can take on my whole gank group by herself, and then disappears every time we down her.
Staff ele in WvW is scary how effective it can be. I’ve tried both 30/10/0/0/30 (very good damage, make sure you get the Area Attacks with Staff are Larger in arcane and watch all of them burn), or as a more defensive/support mix with 10/10/0/20/30.
I’ve got 4k kills in WvW, and in addition to my 80 ele an 80 guardian and 80 warrior, all of whom Ive played extensively in WvW, and guess what, in a group fight the ele can do the most damage at range. Sure my warrior hits waaay harder in MELEE, but you asked for range, and son if you use that staff, you got it. And D/D well played can be insane in melee.
If your complaint is only that ele does more damage in melee than at range, your problem has nothing to do with the ele class and more with the overall game design. ALL MELEE does more damage than ranged in GW2. Range is its own inherent advantage.
Bring back the old one. The new UI is terrible.
JQ truly showed this week what type of server they are…
-Zerging and camping throughout the day, bringing 50+ ppl when 10 enemies take a supply camp
-Getting pushed back during prime-time, despite the 3 orb bonus and all structures upgradedand now, up by 260k prior to the reset the next day, players from your server exploiting/glitching to take Sharadan Hills on the JQ Borderland.
I’m quite certain that you guys probably have some honorable guilds and players, as most in this thread have been respectable. It is a shame that those in the game are trash.
I’ve seen your guilds tag in Borderlands at prime time. I usually run a crew of 5-7, [QT], and we are often behind the lines taking camps and such. Never has a massive outnumbering by your UDL stopped your zergs of 20+ from killing us. That is WvW. SPvP with forced balance is that way —-→. I don’t see how we are trash, considering how many of your guildies we have killed.
As for the second point, you go ahead and try defending every point on the map all at once. See how you do, even with orbs and upgrades. At prime time when the numbers are equal we can’t be everywhere at once. I’m sure those doors enjoyed their orb bonus.
If people are glitching they will get nothing but grief from me, but I personally have not seen much of this in tier when ET isn’t around.
Lastly, I always chuckle a bit now when I see the occasional SBI moaning about anything to do with us on JQ (not all of you, god knows a server couldn’t possibly be made up of individuals and guilds from all over the rainbow). A lot of us have been on JQ from the start, like when SBI wouldn’t shut up about double-teaming us with Henge as good strategy and doing “anything to win”. Welcome to the other side of that coin.
As long as keeps can be upgraded to have waypoints, and there are mesmer portal and stealth and a million ways to get past a siege already then I don’t like the idea of players being able to deposit supply in keeps and towers for upgrades. You already have your personal supply that you can use for repairs and siege weapons. It is good to keep the yaks as the only way to get a keep upgraded for the sake of strategic control of camps and defending routes.
28 and its my favorite MMO ever, which is impressive I think for Anet because after like SWTOR and Warhammer and the other long sad list of A+ release absolute failures I was ready to say the genre was going to be dead forever… glad to have been wrong.
I have an 80 warrior, guardian, but I still love my first one best: my ele.
I love playing mages in MMOs and the Ele has a lot of unique character and abilities, and with the right spec and playstyle can fill many roles. I think most people that play it and think it sucks just put like 0 points in arcane and never change attunements and think they are ‘fire spec’ or whatever.
On JQ… me. jk.
I can’t remember their names, but any commander from [LOST] (I think it’s Legion of Steel, not the LOST tag guild from henge of quitravi). Zeromass might be one? Anyone form that guild has always had good ideas.
Last night Rawnoodles and ESOD[sp?] seemed very competent in borderlands.
I spend most of the time running my own crew taking camps and ganking so I haven’t worked with many of them, but JQ has an abundance of good ones.
Am I just getting old and slow, or does anyone else feel like a lot of the time in SPvP that combat happens at like the speed of light?
Sure, if you don’t dodge and stand in a combo you deserve to get annihilated. It just seems so fast to me a lot of the time. There’s like a rock/paper/scissors counter for everything in this game, it just seems to happen so kitten fast that I can’t do any of them, at least not as a reaction instead of an anticipation.
I’m mostly talking about team fights. Especially on my Ele and Guardian I have had super long duels with and such, in fact really fun ones where this system’s checks and balances get to come into play (because there is enough time to react and counter things). However, like in tournys when my buddy buffs my warrior I can crit for like 10k with my burst skill… and my ele only has an HP pool of like 14k. No wonder fights are over so fast.
TL;DR: I wonder if health pools are a little low (across the board for all classes) because SPvP team fights seem to be over in a flash.
Would Elementalists be able to use greatswords in the future?

I’d like to see one-handed swords first, but not saying I hate the idea of greatswords. I feel greatsword is already one of the most meta-popular weapons though.
I also refer to it as twisting, as I played a Minstrel in DAoC and you had to twist if you wanted to keep a pet and power song or speed song. Stance dancing is a term I would use with like a WoW warrior, but attunements aren’t really stances and I agree it sounds kind of dumb to call it dancing. Also the whole argument is kind of dumb from both sides, omg calling it something I don’t call it but we agree its the same thing…
Please add exotic quality trinkets (amulet, rings, accessories) to the various dungeon badge vendors. Why does Jeweler not have to compete with this path to rewards like weapons and armor and even a limited selection of runes? Oh, add more runes options to the dungeon vendors please.
This is a suggestion regarding the respawn time on basically all of the NPC enemies in the Orr zones (Straits, Malchor’s and especially Cursed Shore).
TURN THEM DOWN.
My solution: Summons stay alive until they are killed, then they go on cool down.
This has been my idea too. Nice and easy little tweak, and I don’t think it would be imba at all. And outside of pvp balance it would help with the super frustrating experience that is ele in like the orr zones, land of endless agro.
Hyperbole… If they are ‘unplayable’, why have I completed each of the PvP jump puzzle sanctums multiple times? Like I have seriously lost count.
PvP happened in a PvP zone. PvP them back, or leave and come back later.
Downed state is probably the only part of GW2, in terms of game mechanics, that I don’t love. It is truly a great and very balanced game for both wvw and spvp.
I also hate the downed state like many here, and not just because I mainly play ele. I think they should increase health pools across the board by about 1/3rd and then just remove the downed state. Maybe resurrection bars can be a lot shorter outside of pvp areas to make up for the change.
Adding Realm Ranks, and making people you know like Jade Quarry [Rank Title] instead of invader, would be an awesome idea.
Adding realm abilities like DAoC would be a terrible, terrible idea. Should I tell you about the time when I (a minstrel with Speed of Sound) and an infiltrator friend stole a relic from 100+ Midgards, or will you just take my word for it?
The point of camping a jumping puzzle is to stop the server from getting free siege. You can see the tactical advantage. Nobody is forcing you to complete the jumping puzzle. If people aren’t going back continually and giving the campers free XP, eventually the campers will leave.
Couldn’t agree more. As long as it gives siege and is open to all worlds, it isn’t even griefing at all to defend (e.g. camp) it. Any complaints by PvEers trying to get the achievement or whatever should be filed alongside those that ask for world exploration to not happen in the WvW zones. That is a separate issue I see come up often and would be more willing to say could be addressed.
I agree in concept with removing Magic Find. Implementation would be tricky, but it is indeed sorry to have to choose a non-combat stat on gear, and many players will, weakening their group.
Kryta makes me think of the Byzantine Empire near its decline. Vastly diminished in power, barbarians and new powers at their gates, a ruler that is breaking some of the rules of nobility, and just the environment a bit too of the temperate coastal.
Of course the architecture in Divinity’s Reach and such bears little resemblance to that and is more closely to akin to medieval or quatrocentro Italy, so its hard to say what attributes we are evaluating to place it.
Mesmer, Thief, Guardian. But not by as much of a margin as most people exaggerate.
Bump. I guess if enough time goes by and I get some more cash I will just test this out and report the findings. Would be nice if someone already knows tho
Hello, has anyone used any of the items from the Guild Armorer contract vendor? I would like to know how these work. Specifically, if I use the Guild Heavy Armor to change the appearance of one chest piece, can I then transmute that appearance again to another item when I have outleveled the one I originally used the Guild Heavy Armor on?
TL;DR: Is Guild Heavy Armor reusable or the appearance recyclable?
Thanks
No mounts, free waypoints, best solution.
Please add some eventually, there are are cool ones in GW2. A lot of people like Hylek. I personally want to make a Kodan warrior named Hated by Pepsi.
Good job with the races, Anet. Please let us play them.
Lol @ the OP, whining about SBI after double teaming us with HoD over the weekend.
Lol @ SBI currently double teaming JQ with HoD in EB. Hypocrisy is not an island near Greece.
In my view Legendaries should be account bound not sellable + SB

If they are sellable they definitely should not be. I like the idea of account bound also.
Like others have said, an ele with One with Air and Signet of Air can move really fast.
Commander rank: Why gold, when we have Influence and Badges of Honor?
in WvW
Posted by: Spacefish.4623
My guild tends to run around 7-8 people for WvW, and being so small we can’t afford commander yet and just have to use voip for parties larger than 5. When we do get commander it would be nice to still be able to have our private crew, grouped in game mechanic without being a zerg beacon. And yeah it should not cost gold, influence and/or badges of honor.
Half the Iron in 20-30 and 30-40 zones needs to be changed to copper

There is definitely a bit too much iron out there in the world.
I took my cooking to 400 without buying ingredients off the TP and mostly by doing discovery instead of gathering and grinding out stacks of food. After that experience I wholeheartedly agree that vanilla beans are the worst, the only ingredient that really gave me a headache through the whole process. They need to be added to other nodes or something.
I’ve done the permutations: Noble/Sister, Commoner/Circus, and Streets/Parents.
Noble/Sister may have had an anticlimactic ending, but overall it seemed the least disjointed and the best story for my 2 cents. Noble/Sister just blends kind of well and has a lot congruent themes, but I wont give spoilers.
I’m iffy about the movement restrictions ideas, even though the issue is aptly identified. Normalizing the loot drops is a very good idea though.
If HoD was a business it would be broken up as a monopoly. Imagine, hypothetically, if HoD was split between other servers. Can you imagine a SBI v JQ v ET matchup? The one I remember from matchmaking was truly epic. Having one server so far out there, in a league of their own, really makes it less fun for everyone…. including HoD it would seem.
This concerns the dialogue, not really the voice acting and audio which is very good imho.
Anyway, there have been a couple times in my personal stories where the dialogue just really jars me out of the suspended disbelief, mostly through some blatant anachronisms. There have been a couple, but suffice to say the reason I am posting is from a when a towering Norn warrior from the Vigil told me some information was “above my pay grade.”
Now I’m not a roleplayer, nor some stuffy historian that makes a fuss over flavor details, like viking helms didn’t really have horns or some other minutia. For example, it might make sense for an Asura to say something more modern, such as pay grades etc.
I dunno. There have just been some really blatant ones throughout the story, and they distract me for being so out of place in pastoral pseudo-medieval Tyria.
Round here it is pronounced “Kay”, as in “j/k” or K-mart.
