I thought the updates for every 2 weeks are meant for everyone? not 1% of the population, so not sure what Lande is talking about. If you want to keep it hard go to tribulation mode -_- this is insanely hard just for a normal mode. dear lord.
http://i40.tinypic.com/2vbo17q.jpg this room is giving me nightmares. someone save me from this madness -_-
I got to the gong, about 3 times. Died while following it down, and then gave up. I also need new knuckles.

This I believe sums up a lot of frustration people are having.
Yep…. Exactly that!
My sides too!

Zone 2: Dart traps can only be spotted at the last second..
Please look more carefully. If you dash through without looking around corners you will lose a lot of lives. As designed.
You mean the extra pieces of wood on the walls that I thought was apart of the architecture?

World 2.
Zone 1: Rapids were buggy. It took me roughly 20 lives to go through and combat the random teleportation, air that acted like water, and rocks that acted like water to pass it. That was the only -painful- part for me in Zone 1.
Zone 2: Dart traps can only be spotted at the last second. I’m probably not even half-way through the zone, and I’ve spent about 54 lives because of the stupid dart traps. I hate exploration through death.
I want a refund on continue coins.
This list will be updated as I progress.
Edit: I am streaming my painful run here at twitch.tv/clumsywizard. Developers are welcome to watch. These dart traps ARE invisible. Because I run over a certain spot and then suddenly.. DARTS EVERYWHERER!
Edit 2: Consider this a walkthrough too.

According to the wiki she’s a former Aetherblade Captain.
When was this stated exactly? I don’t remember that popping up during the Aetherblade events.
That, and I’m trying to answer someone’s questions on Ellen Kiel’s history, and when I give the “Check the game’s Wiki” they state that it’s not a valid source of information because Wikis can be editted.
I don’t think ArenaNet can handle a fractal like that. Most fractals are short and no lore/explanations are given to the players after completing them. This is the fall of Abaddon we’re talking about.
The 6th human god that lived in Arah with the humans. The god of secrets and water and the god who gave the gift of magic to all races in Tyria. The god that caused most of the first games problems (Shiro, the Lich and the fall of Orr, Nightfall, the Searing, the Guild Wars, etc).
If ArenaNet is planning on making a fractal out of the final mission in Guild Wars Nightfall, how will they include the Sunspears (and the player character him/herself)? Will they just lie and make it look like Kormir defeated Abaddon herself? Will ArenaNet allow us to defeat Abaddon again? If they do include the Sunspears, they’d have to redesign all the GW1 heroes from Nightfall for this one fractal.
Or if ArenaNet is planning on making a fractal out of the event where the gods fought and defeated Abaddon before imprisoning him in the Realm of Torment, what would be the point of that? The GODS fought Abaddon, not a bunch of mortals. Who will we fight in that fractal? Will it show the actual human gods fighting? If that’s the case then they would have to expose the appearances of all six gods which so far only their avatar forms have been seen by us, the players (an exception would be Kormir’s form at the end of Nightfall).
Sadly, the most realistic approach to this from ArenaNet would be turning it into another Zhaitan fight. Cute cutscenes of the big bad monster flying around and doing stuff before “slipping” into a state of vulnerability so you, the player, can hit #2 at the safety of a cannon that probably isn’t even aiming at the big bad monster. There weren’t any asuran cannons in Orr/Crystal Desert(Sea), how could they possibly make “The Fall of Abaddon” work?
Just to humor you I’ll say human cannons. Also we’ll be on bamboo rafts, and the gods will be fighting above us.
No, but in all reality. Let’s hope that ArenaNet has learned from that mistake. There is no possible way that they would take an Abaddon fight, and rehakitten into Zhaitan. If you want a MMO with so much rehashed content then I recommend a MMO that came out in 2004 it has elves, greenskins, humans, furries, and blueskins.
Away from that.
Kiel had my vote until I read Evon’s information. Waypoints for cheap for a month is not as enticing as sliced Black Lion Keys, or research into fighting Abaddon in a Fractal.
This might be related to the Dragon Bash story.
First time I’ve played in weeks, and I think I found the mysterious formation.

Streaming it currently, and eatting.
Edit: You missed the talking.
My computer tends to crap out on beta drivers.
I’ve been having this problem recently. Actually these problems have been cropping up AFTER the Razing part 3 update.
In Lion’s Arch I’ve encountered mass amounts of shadows flickering from visible to non-visible. These are not single groups of shadows, but -every- shadow weather or not it’s rendered by player models or buildings.
While I’ve been tweaking around my settings I’ve found that this problem gets worse the lower the settings I go. So on medium or low shadows or even texture quality I’m having chunks of textures disappear with the shadows or even off in the extremes of whole building models flickering in and out of existence save the NPCs that are inside said buildings.
Direct-X Diagnostic is attached.

Ten sequels? I’ll just stay in Moto’s fun land.
One of my guilds is angry with me being in there all the time as well as not representing them.
I agree here, but this feels more like a comment rather than a constructive thread.
From what I heard the updating of the Super Adventure Box is determined on player reception. The more the majority of the playerbase likes it. The more updates will happen.
I’ve been playing MMOs for around the same time as you, but I’m 21 not 24. I do have to comment that I WANT this to stay within the game beyond the month it’s staying. Yesterday I neglected the need to sleep because I loved the Box even if it’s three to five levels (If you count 2-1, and the bonus round.) I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’ve mentioned my joy over this to one of the Programmers in-game and all I can say is that I’m mesmerized by it. The look and feel of the Super Adventure Box reminds me of my early childhood of playing Commander Keen and Secret Agent and other 16-bit-like side-scrolling platformers.
I agree with the 10 gems per coin price too. It’s affordable in-game and it’ll be a real money maker.
P.S: Thank you ArenaNet for taking the time and effort to develop this. It’s fun, and it’s brought friends who left due to a lack of content back into the game. This is awesome, and I know if this was some other MMO this would be a fancy blog post or a webpage dedicated to this.
I’m fine with the lack of expansions.
Didn’t it take Factions a year or two to release after Guild Wars launched? That’s how a MMO should be built. The Developer should think of polishing the base game first before expanding to new content, but once they start expanding via expansions the Developers should finish the polish on one expansion before moving onto the next.
While the first Guild Wars was not my cup of tea I use it as a reference on how a MMO game should be built with expansions. A game shouldn’t immediately release, and then announce 6-7 months later that an Expansion is due early next year (SWTOR is a perfect example of this.) when the base game has a lot to be added and worked on.
I’d much rather have the Guild Wars treatment to Guild Wars 2. Have the base game finished before an expansion releases, and then polish that expansion. The one thing that ArenaNet has done right with Guild Wars 2 is the new content patch every months. Even if the content is lacking for one update it’s just a simple, and short 30-ish day wait for the next patch to come out to expand on it.
A perfect example of this content expansion through patches is the Living Story. Granted people are complaining about the vagueness of the “Story” bit in this series of content updates, but it’s there.
Patch one of the arc introduced the problem.
Patch two of the arc finished introducing the players in the story.
Patch three of the arc is going to introduce the excitement of the story. (The build up has finished, and the real meat of the story comes to light, the parts that -everyone- likes. Action. Lots of action.)
Then Patch four the arc is going to wind down and come to the stop as the story is finished.
Hm.. I may’ve gotten carried away, but my bottom line is that I enjoy this lack of announcement for expansion content. Until there’s a press release by ArenaNet the news of an Expansion are rumors, and nothing more.

So!
After tackling the Warrior, and the Thief for a bit I’ve decided to set my sights on a Necro. After slaving over it a bit I’m starting to think more on terms of builds, and what might be better for me in the long run.
Currently my Necro is level 37, and might be in the mid-to-late 40s to early 50s by the end of today.
Right now I’m thinking of focusing on a Spite/Curses/Blood Magic build for leveling until I unlock the last skillbook.
I love the use of Wells, and the melee capabilities of Dagger/Dagger and Dagger/Warhorn. I’ve tried out the Staff, and I really don’t like it at all, it feels far too boring, and the marks don’t seem to work on Siege-esque content.
So, at 80 what is a decent PvE centric build that utilizes Wells? Also I’m interested in any Non-staff utilizing Minion builds.
Note: Interested in PvE, and Dungeoneering only. I’m not a fan of WvW or SPvP.
I’ve always gone through Protect Seraph’s Landing on my characters, and always fed the animals, or murderized the bandits that come up and steal supplies. I’m going through on my newest alt, a Necromancer, and I’m curious on where these hungry soldiers are so I can feed them. I’ve literally taken a food tray and talked to all the seraph and none of them wanted my offering of food.
Are they in a specific place?
Or is this part of the heart broken?
Edit: This is a heart in Harathi Hinterlands.

Thank you!
With about 45 minutes of play with this build I love it. Absolutely love it.
I just got a thief to 80, and during the time spent leveling him up I used everything. After settling that I like Sword/Pistol and Pistol/Pistol the most out of every thing I wanted to see if there was a build suitable for this set of weaponry for PvE, and Dungeoneering.
I’ve tried to love the Shortbow. I TRIED so hard to try to like it, but it just felt horrible and clunky in combat as well as being a bit boring to me after using it for levels 62 to 69. So after my leveling process and having fun with the nerfed pistol whip I came to the conclusion that I’d like to spend my time at 80 as a Sword/Pistol with a Pistol/Pistol off-set, and a focus on traps; because really.. Who doesn’t like traps?
~ahem~
Could I be pointed in the right directions to a build that could work for me?
In my long winded post a page or so back I mentioned Aurora’s Remains and the event there. I only brought it up that it had this weird otherworldly homey feeling to it. The event I did solo wasn’t too terribly hard, and it did have a chest at the end. Granted it wasn’t a huge chest it was a Sylvari-looking chest. I looted a few greens and blues from it. Event link is below.
It’s http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Draw_out_and_destroy_the_Demagogue%27s_spirit
Weird, I just did this event and got no chest after killing the champion, did get loot from the body though
Theres a chest. You have to jump ontop of a few shrooms to get it though. Look for orbs of glowing light.

Area is filled with Shining Blade and White Mantle ghosts, and some of the NPCs mention that they were slain there during a battle that took place there. Final Rest is usually determined to be the spot where someone died. So at this point instead of looking into Orr and doing that Catacombs event maybe look elsewhere? I highly doubt it’s even in Orr and could be a level 80 exclusive drop from any chest granting event in the game world.
Before anyone asks I was the only person doing this Group Event.
(edited by StygSec.7163)
With how low the drop rate is, and the likelihood that it’s a group event (so the Anet employee would need help from the community or from quite a few Anet employees) makes that not a real viable idea. The best Anet could really do (without revealing more about it) is to attain it on the test servers.
That would prove nothing though, since the test servers have frequently had cases where something worked fine there, but then faceplanted on the live servers. I think it’s reasonable to suspect that this is a case where everything looks perfectly fine on paper, all the numbers in the flowcharts seem to be in the proper place, and yet for some inexplicable reason the thing just doesn’t work on live.
I doubt Anet wouldnt notice something like that. The reason being that if it does srop from a major/popular boss, grenth, melandru, teq, etc. then id think anet would realize something is seriously wrong with the stats since collectively the players have killed each of those bosses at least a 1000 times since release. They did say the drop rate is very low but I doubt that low. Id still guess its in orr, just a much less popular legendary boss, like the one I suggested in the zhoqafa chain. The reddit user I had seen mentioned something interesting. He said during the final part of the chain where they meet the eye of zhaitan, he says something like “you have disturbed my FINAL RESTING place”. Along with thr fact that the people in the chain mention searching for something valuable
I did the Zho’qafa chain and after blocking an unsavory person who believed they were better than me because they farmed CoF path 1 thus making 50g a day (How? Magic Find is a broken stat, and DR kicks in after a few runs.)
So as I was going through the chain and the unsavory person informs me that the mob at the end only spawns every 3 hours, and is the one that has a chest. (Thankfully they moved off to do Balthazar.) I got to the end with myself, and about five other 80s with me.
I slay the Eye of Zhaitan, which is a joke a real joke, and open the large chest. It’s bigger than a Dragon Chest, but it has the same model. Sadly all I got were the deterring blues and a single green.
While the boss does mention a final resting place I do believe that it’s flavor text at the moment.
Event: (Incase someone doesn’t want to know what the event contains)
Atleast TWO Risen Abominations
Atleast ONE Champion Ooze of the Translucent variety
Consumes several minutes, and goes by slowly if there is not enough people. (Circle strafing is STILL a viable combat tactic to this day, if you’re using a melee weapon and have a pillar.)
Eye of Zhaitan is the final boss of the event, and the triggerer of the chest. You disturb his final resting place by having one of the priory people look for something old and ancient, and rattle a sarcophagus.
If a Skritt suddenly died in Harathi Hinterlands for no reason, and proclaimed “THIS IS MY FINAL RESTING PLACE!” people would be all over it.
However, seeing the Staff is something Gargoyle-like, and what not. Anyone know of any events in the Ascalon region of the world that seem rare and people rarely do? Thinking it’s in Orr is a bit close minded in the speculation stage of this item. Also that staff looks out of place in terms of location. I think I’d find it in Cursed Shores or in an area around The Wall.
Edit: Has anyone done that Demagogue event in Aurora’s Remains? Why I point this out is that there are White Mantle ghosts, and Shining Blade ghosts here. Granted this isn’t a resting place a lot of said white mantle and shining blade died there during battle when the Shining Blade was the uprising against the old Krytan rule (I think. I got to this mission in GW1 and then stopped.).
From what I read is that there is crystal running and the like. Since this is a nod to the Aurora Glade mission from GW1 there might be a chance that this area also might have Final Rest on it’s loot table.
(edited by StygSec.7163)
Haha, love that one!
I honestly have no idea where to stick this, but this si sometihng I came up with right now, and I’m about to go to sleep.
I’m also a bit intoxicated.
“We’re not forged by the moments that temper us. We’re not inspired by the craftsmen of legend, or story. We’re not bound by bindings strengthed among allies. We’re ascended by the inspiration, bounds and moments we command. We’re not just the heroes of legend. We’re warriors that have ascended through our deeds. We’re the might of Tyria, the last line from extinction, and the end of the world as we know. We are the heroes that the world needs, and not the heroes that the gods want. A new age within Tyria is born, and the fall of the dragons will come! Quaggan will lead you all to battle!”
— Commander Oogglaburahl of Queensdale
Hammer. The autoattack + mighty blow are all you really need to power through most content. You can even kind of AoE grind with symbols, though not to the absurd extent of shortbow thieves.
Thanks for the tip.
Never tried the shortbow on the thief aside from infiltrating the environment. Yes.. I played around with their “5” still and it’s broken.
I’ve always wanted to feel for the Guardian as they feel like their in the shadow of the might Warrior, and they’re the class I’ve seen with hammers more than Greatswords.
So!
After getting my Warrior on for a while I decided to try out the Guardian. Currently hes level 11 so.. still on the low side.
Any direct advice for builds to utilize for leveling? Granted I do want to do the high damage for leveling and I’m thinking about support for the later game.
What can you folks give me?
Edit: I’m more PvE and dungeon focused over WvW and SPvP
Ah-ha! Thank you kind gentleperson!
And.. I don’t have to change my gear, much.
Clarification:
I would like a damage build that I can have more damage than Survivability, but stay away from the GreatSword.
I’m currently a Support focused Warrior using a slapped together build with a Mace and shield. Granted I switched to this from a GS focused build and found it fun, but now I find it lacking.
So! I’ve come here asking for a build that’s damage centric, but stays away from the Greatsword. I want to be mobile while damaging my enemies instead of rooted in one spot for a 3 second channel ability.
So, anyone have suggestions?
Zapping kittens.. You’re against cuteness now are you?
There is spam now on this website now?
Who gave the spammers that brilliant idea? /sarcasm
Redhare you’re mentioning the most obvious solution to this situation. However, the only question remans is..
Will ArenaNet jump onto this?
Asuka Shikinami, I do like your thoughts on finding other ways to ban but It really would not solve the PR for the game. No matter what is being done to ristrict these individuals there will be those that disagree. Maybe if Anet could get a PTR server up these exploits could be found before hand.
I agree.
There needs to be a better developer to user bridge when it comes to content. Give out a PTR to test the build instead of relying on the QA department.
It is known that a wider playerbase tends to find bugs better than an internal QA team. With case in point for that one game that Blizzard Entertainment heads. Since they released a PTR their game-breaking bug count -dropped- with each patch.
Currently it’s only .lua scripting and in-game engine scripts that break that game, but still. There needs to be a playerbase testing area for the new content drops.
All of those bugs in Fractals could’ve been avoided if there was a PTR for that content, oh and the Ancient Karka fiasco too could’ve been avoided.
Hell, that 28 karma sword that people were buying and salvaging could also gasp! been avoided if there was more player interaction with future content through a Public Test Realm.
I think if the company was to have an open forum about the game it would have to be crowd sourced with funders and investors.
Not a gem store.
Edit: I’ve been -trying- to post my response here, but you know… Forum Troubles.
Any idea when you will add the Armor category to the list? (Light/Med/Heavy)
This is the account issues forum, and not the place for that question.
I had this redirected to me during a deep discussion within my guild’s VOIP server, and that change is just.. horrible.
If there is any good to come out of this I don’t see it happening. That new name is a poor choice on whoever did it as a sick joke.
Either someone in Anet was offended, and their only retort was to rename the account to something awful towards the owner, but as a costumer of this game as well as a player.. I find this offensive not done by the community, but done by the company that’s supposed to be acting as a parent to the community that follows it.
I’m full of disgust by this action.. Urgh.. before I start typing things that shouldn’t be said I’ll just stop now.
What was the bug you were experiencing?
How did it happen?
Without stating what the bug is it won’t get fixed.
I have not had this issue before, but since the latest patch I started to have it.
However the ringing in my ears it causes have led me to become -very- nauseous and has led me to vomit at times when getting up from the computer aside from being -very- dizzy.
I usually play with the sound off and I still get this despite not listening to any in-game sound or music.
This bug also causes prolonged annoying ringing in my ears that last for hours on end and does cause the room to spin hours after I’ve relogged from the game to fix it.
Could the exact cause of this be known? I usually get it in WvWvW after the zerg I’m in connects with another zerg and the game freezes for a few moments before catching up with itself and causing this annoying, health problematic siren.
Edit: I have my sliders at:
Sound Quality: Fastest
Music Interval: Shorter
Mixing Buffer Size: Most Stable (all the way to that opposite bar)

Culling is a bad solution period.
Majority of the people that play WvW are serious about their gaming and have the tech to run an uncensored game. Those that don’t should really be left to suffer. They won’t be able to do all of WvW, but they can still do small stuff like guard camps and escort supply. It only costs $30 bucks to get a reliable video card that can handle the work load of GW2. And eventually when people want to do more, they just upgrade their tech.
GW2 is a beautiful game and it is worth the extra coin on upgrading one’s system to enjoy it. Culling really is unnecessary.
The thing is that the performance isn’t just centric on your GPU alone. You have to count in the RAM, the CPU, the health of your hard drives, and the state of your motherboard if you want to upgrade to a decent preformance. Granted I’m running a crappy Radeon HD 5775 on a computer with a Dual Core, but you have to remember that upgrading JUST the GPU just might not cut it for some people.
I’m lookign at a $475 upgrade for my rig just to render the game high enough to play in the laggy WvW content.
I don’t see any change to this at all.
Even as a trial solution I’m still getting slaughtered by groups of invisible players that only pop visible upon my death.
At this rate I’m never going to get world completion =/
Let’s see.. I was just out and about in Snowden Drifts slaughtering those worthless Jotun while on my Guardian and suddenly the game crashed. However, the game didn’t really crash it jsut stayed up while the crash log was up on my screen (See attachment). Log is also attached.

I guess you enjoy losing to better geared opponents then. Most of us don’t.
=/
Your snarkiness is missing my point here.
I don’t personally like WvWvW. I don’t do WvWvW. I only step into WvWvW if I want to play with a Treb. That’s all I do in WvWvW. I get on a high, hard to jump into spot, lay down a Treb, and slowly build it on the hill. Then I throw cows at people. Happy, diseased, dead cows at people.
It’s fun.
Ok! Ill bite. So then lets say for instance, after you throw those dead, happy diseased cows to your hearts content. Oh.. but wait.. you get tired on doing that and feel like going down and participating in the zerg vs zerg downstairs.
You and someone see each other and start fighting, for this example, we’ll say hes the same class and does the exact same skills as you. But one difference here. He spent time to do an optional “raid” you didn’t want to because you believed the manefesto was correct and everyone was equal.
He kicks your tail as he has better stats due to said armor. You suddenly feel as if you HAVE to do said raid in order to even complete with this.. kid.. that has more time than you.
And then, my friend you realize why people are crying foul.
Though, I do hope you enjoy that treb. I really do. :p
I love the treb too much to do anything else other than that seriously =P
I have the ascended mats in my inventory that I’ve picked up along the way, but seriously I lack the idea what to do with them. Heh.
Well.. uh.. I’m tired. I was going to make a point with this post, but I’m going to slepe or something
Hah.
Now if I could have some sort of karma turn-a-round like that in my situation. =P

I thought that all of the dungeon content was optional as well as the SPvP and WvW content.. How is implementing a new optional tier of gear getting this many people upset?
Everything is optional. No one is forcing you to do FotM to get the Ascended Gear. No one is forcing you to get Map Completion, Crafting to 400, and making legendaries.
Everytime I see someone with some dislike towards the new type of gear. I tell them. “Sit down. Have a breather, take a smoke, reflect for a bit. What you’re complaining about is optional. It might not appeal to you, but it might appeal to the people who lost interest when they hit 80 during the early start when they realised there was no Endgame content.”
How is 20-50% better gear optional? Sure it’s optional if you enjoy getting your head caved in in WvWvW.
It’s optional in the sense that the only person who might want to get it is you. It perked your interest. It’s new. You want it. You want to tear into the gear like it’s a raw piece of <insert favorite food here>.
I’ve met people in the game who play and do other things in the game. They’re not centric on getting the best weapons, with the best gear, and the best build. They’re here to have fun.
The only person who makes the Ascended gear not optional is YOU.
Edit: Your reasoning behind this is using optional content. I rarely do WvWvW, or SPvP. I find both aspects of the game boring. I just go there if I need money for a repair bill.

Never got detention in middle school. I don’t know this feeling =<
No such thing. It’s something people say to act as if you’re in big trouble, mister.
Ah, gotcha.
Thanks for the info. I probably should’ve set this as a Q&A post. Oh, well.
Alright.. so I exploded in anger over someone for messing up too much in FotM and they obviously got upset over the situation, and then typed “Well.. I’m going to add your account to the IoJ Blacklist.”

While this is an odd bug.. I have to say that the texture artists took a lot in consideration for the textures, and I approve of their skills.
