Same here. This game is unplayable for me atm. Lag started 24h ago and has been steadily unkitteningbelievable.

all is vain….
Aeroxe is a very solid thief. Highly recommend him.
Any meta thief build or shatter mesmer. (d/p trickery or s/d (and any variation thereof)).
Why? Because a bad thief or a bad mesmer on your team is such a handicap. On the other hand; while engi probably has a higher skill ceiling than thief, I’d much rather get a bad engi than a bad thief on my team.
how to make power crit builds viable again?
would greatly increasing the damage from power traits help? O_Oi.e. warrior’s strength trait line
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Berserker%27s_PowerIncreased damage based [sic] how much adrenaline you have built.

Gain bonus critical-hit chance and critical damage for each stage of adrenaline you have.
Adrenaline stage 1: 15% critical chance & damage
Adrenaline stage 2: 30% critical chance & damage
Adrenaline stage 3: 50% critical chance & damagewould this cause kamikaze warriors to roll 30/10/0/0/30 for the uber damage potential?
this means no adrenal health, no cleansing ire, but would the extra damage be worth it?
What the kitten are you smoking?
They added death match arenas.
That is all.
That would probably make me actually want to play sPvP :o
Something like capture the flag would be awesome too. They have something similar in the wintersday events, so I can’t see why they can’t add that into regular sPvP
You mean, like spirit watch?
So rude, Happy Kid.
It would be in your benefit to salvage the items from the chests for luck.
Actually given the conversion rate of 1k glory = 1g. 100 glory for a salvage kit is about 10s. It’s an outrageously high price considered you can open chests, get boosters/dyes and delete the armor. Convert the glory into gold and buy globs for a MUCH better luck return.
One last thing I’m unsure about is Runes of Perplexity. I think adding them would see a large shift in meta and I don’t know how I feel about it.
Caed~
I agree. I would actually like to see more traits (for all professions) linked to successful interrupts. Mesmers get halting strike that can hit for upwards of 3-4k on a squishy target. They also get might on interrupt. Warriors get confusion on interrupts.
Instead of introducing perplexity runes, I would love more “interrupt” traits; because they are skillful.
I know this is a joke thread, but one thing I keep seeing. “Reduced condition duration by X%”.
What’s 100% of 5 seconds? 5.
5-5=0
-100% condition duration is immunity.
What the hell is -200% condition duration LOL.
really?
you need that much help from dev’s to play thief now?
If you actually read the changes, most of them are to traits that are NOT used, and weapon sets (or specific weapon skills) that are not used.
D/P is an awesome weapon set and shouldn’t be changed. The bread and butter 10/30/0/0/30 is also in a good place in terms of balance. S/D is also a viable alternative, but the weaponset is limited to pressing two (see three) of the five weapon skills.
Who has ever used d/d and been successful in the past 10 months? Nobody. It’s still being used in WvW because the damage of C&D wasn’t nerfed.
I think what Jumper is trying to get to is that a thief should have more than one build to choose from in order to be viable in spvp.
Dancing dagger (currently) has to be one of the worst skills in the game. A single shortbow AUTO ATTACK is both more reliable and does more damage.
Good stuff Jumper.
Road to top 25 in solo queue is run is run cheesy skyhammer builds on skyhammer (20%), and play intelligently with a decent build; preferably a class that can do damage and sit on a point if needed (i.e. warrior)
If you really dislike Skyhammer, try going TeamQ, especially if you can rope in a friend to queue with you. Who knows, maybe it will work better for you
Oh you mean wait for 10-15 minute queues to go up against 5man teams on voip, just because you’re already in the top 100 in team queue by casually pugging it every couple nights?
No. Get kittenhammer out of solo queue or give us an option not to play that trash. There’s nothing competitive about skyhammer, the team with the most troll builds wins, and I don’t enjoy using troll builds. Are you saying that because of one map, I should be playing classes/specs I do NOT enjoy; simply to win?
You do no damage…
5 Black lion claim tickets (I think) or Trading post. It’s a skin that you then convert to pvp
day 172: skyhammer still sucks
Hambow warrior, Condi warrior, Necro with full DS, skilled thief (either s/d or d/p), PU mesmer, MM necro, spirit ranger, DPS guard, skilled engis (unless you’re a condi necro- bonus points if you have full DS)
Basically any class or spec that do backpoint or far-point assault relatively well is by definition a great duelist.
Healing Spring is totally interruptable. Just ask Vanish, he loooooved doing this to me.
Healing Spring is not interruptable along with the Engineer’s Turret healing unless predicted, which is a matter of luck anyway.
There is no way an human being have a reaction time of less than 1/4 of second, excluding the game latency.
Unless you know at which % HP people will heal at. I interrupt engis’ healing turret very often with sleight of hand trait for steal.
1v1 MM necro is very strong but in competitive play they are very weak.
This is the SPvP forum right? In 5v5 matches a LOT of encounters are 1v1’s.
What serious team uses a MM necro?
They provide very little in a team fight; no support, just a tanky presence and some damage. Many other classes are very good in 1v1 AND offer much more in a team fight such as a hammer longbow warrior.
1v1 MM necro is very strong but in competitive play they are very weak.
Spirit ranger is fine if you disregard the elite. The Spirit of Nature Renewal is like a warbanner that follows you around, heals everyone for 450hp/s, can rez everyone three times while curing 5 conditions, and obviously trigger again upon death.
It’s so broken that it’s impossible to win a team fight (or 1v1) while it’s up. You have to instantly make the decision to focus it, which wipes all of their conditions anyway.
No competitive team will ever NOT use at least one spirit ranger in it’s current state.
Oh and it’s so tanky that’s actually very easy to play.
Any roamer that can win a lot of 1v1s and be very effective in teamfights. A really good engi can seriously kitten another team up.
I know this is a bug and should definitely be fixed, but I’ve played over a thousand tournament games and not once have I encountered this bug changing the outcome of the match.
Are you sure we’re not blowing this out of proportion? Obviously this bug has been around for a very long time and now that it’s more widely known I’m sure more people will attempt to exploit it. To which people could just chill by their gate/treb and “defend” it before the start of the game.
Just remove it from solo queue or add an option to never have to play the map. Please.
Seriously considering quitting.
I que in team arena with 1-2 others and it’s fine. Not going to threaten the top spots by any means, but have won a lot of good games and usually have to earn it. The quality of players and teamplay in yolo que is terrible in comparison.
Agreed, however as your mmr goes up, you’ll face top teams with groups of 1-4 that aren’t on voice comms and there is no conceivable universe where the “top team” doesn’t win.
It quickly turns from pretty fair games into getting farmed by people with 60-90% win rate and who have been playing together for months.
I basically have to solo queue if I’m not with a team, because my mmr is high enough for me to face top teams.
As ken said, 5man should be a league of its own and “solo queue” allow for 2 to 4 players to queue up together or solo.
- Allow 1-3 people to queue together for it (call it “Standard Arena”) like in SMITE
I agree, given the smallish population at high mmr and considering everyone pretty much knows eachother at that level; the chance of having 2-3 people who are already on ts/vent/mumble on the same team is pretty high and guarantees a win.
Thief best traits:
Executioner, Mug, Sleight of Hand, Bountiful Theft and Feline Grace. All the other traits are pretty lackluster.
Hello,
I like to think I’m a pretty good s/d thief. I can also play engi, mesmer and guardian; I have much more experience with thief, but I am willing to adapt for a good team.
Mostly kittening tired of skyhammer.
I’d be fine with mentally challenged teammates if I wasn’t forced to play spirit watch + skyhammer all day.
More “new”, “dumb” or “don’t know how to play” players in solo queue is actually a good thing. It means the pvp scene isn’t dying; it means there are new players attracted to pvp. I wish people would stop being elitist and are willing to look at the bigger picture.
Top MMR solo queues can sometimes be very good games.
which [BB] won 5-0 btw
Aren’t Borlis Brawlers a GvG all star team? Don’t get me wrong, they’re definitely good. But, I heard they’re comprised of good players from different guilds.
That’s cool, but not as impressive as a normal guild group that plays together regularly.
No, not really. We have a handful decent players, majority of mediocre and some very subpar players. More often than not our driver is drunk, late or doesn’t have a kittening mouse. We never run together, we never practice; we just show up and kill kitten on gvg night. BB is open to pretty much anyone on BP who is capable of pressing buttons, has a level 80 character and has half a brain.
I’m probably going to hurt some feelings by saying this but I personally think that BB is pretty bad. I have no idea how we’ve managed to win all our GvGs aside from one against HOPE.
tl;dr we’re awful but you’re all trash.
Should i start blowing through my glory boosters? cause i got tons.
The fact that they are easily obtainable by using glory in the mystic forge… I would say yes.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Assassin's_Signet
At 2000 power*, 180 additional power translates to roughly 9% increased damage. That’s a permanent 9%. If you activate it, you get 15% damage increase on five attacks on a kitten ** cooldown. So you basically five attacks that do 5-6% more damage, on a kitten cooldown. Is this a joke or is there absolutely no incentive to activate the signet?
You need both signet traits to make the utility even remotely viable on activation. With both the 5 might stacks (175 power) and 20% lower cd; you get the “intended” effect which should be a flat 15% bonus damage on 5 attacks, followed by lower damage for 26 seconds (36s – 10s of might equivalent to the signet passive).
Don’t get me wrong, 180 power is great for a signet, but the activation is very very underwhelming comparatively to the passive effect. Now, I do understand that anet loves their passives (oh come on – I had to), but unless you fully trait for signets, you actually LOSE damage by activating the signet.
I feel like the recent buff to signets placed this specific signet in a very weird place. What do you guys think?
*Thief builds will have anywhere from 1839 to 2304 power based on runes and traits given a power based amulet/jewel.
**FORTY FIVE SECOND – come on censorship.
(edited by TNoD.8143)
I’d simply be happy to a loss not being counted if there are leavers in the game.
did it on the sniper with the mines.
using every gamble except earthquake and squemish. full zerker thief with d/p.
porting in, blind him, use scorpion wire to drag him to you if he ports and use haste as soon as he hits 50% with heartseeker spam.
took also the +50% when downed which i needed in the end ^^
Headshot works wonders as well! I went s/p with malice and interrupted him with pistol whip/headshot.
It is beatable by every class. Every class has a condition build/DPS build/Tanky build/Dodgy build.
They’ve stated you might need to change your build within your class
Improvement: Give us a kitten title for beating Liadri
I agree. Anet, please make a titled called “Kitten” for people who beat this.
I just said bad “another word for someone’s posterior” I feel like the censoring makes me appear as much more obscene than what was intended lol.
I just want a cool title ;_;
The gauntlet is an extremely cool idea and implemented beautifully (visually).
However, functionally, it’s far from perfect.
The fact that you can go up and see other people fight is very awesome, and I’ve talked to some people while waiting in queue discussing strategies which is awesome.
Improvement: Make targets inside the zone targetable so that you can actually see if the person is close.
The transparent ground is again, beautiful but it makes things hard to see and.
Improvement: Make it opaque when you’re inside, or one way see-through from the bottom. Bonus points: make it possible for colorblind people to do these as well
Nobody knows how long you actually have to finish a fight, other than the annoying announcer which repeats the same thing a few times before giving you a five second countdown.
Improvement: Make the fight an event with a timer visible to the player and spectators
Gambits are not visible to spectators.
Improvement: A way for spectators to see which gambits are used
Many mini games inside GW2 have a title associated with the achievement, but the most challenging yet… doesn’t? I want an easier way to show off my accomplishment. The issue is that (generally) people who care about minis don’t really care for beating the hardest content of the game, and people who love challenges generally don’t care much for minis.
Improvement: Give us a kitten title for beating Liadri
The dome is beautiful, but your FoV gets screwed up when you get close to the edge and it becomes very difficult to see what is going on.
Improvement: Fix it somehow
It’s situated above an absolute kittenstorm of people and mobs, performance wise this is ridiculous. Again, the design of the area is beyond beautiful and the concept is extremely cool on paper, but if some players are unable to enjoy that content due to poor frame rates …
Improvement : Somehow make it so that you de-render everything going on below when you’re on the top level of the Pavillion
I think that’s about all my concerns for the gauntlet, again, I love the idea. I think it’s extremely cool to play and spectate at the same time. By far my favorite part of any update so far.
Good fights to SoS, aside from that one elementalist that glitched in a tower to kill the siege when the door was still up. Thanks to those that jumped off immediately.
Yes! There is only one possible bundle per profession in wvw/pvp. Mobs have a pool as mentioned above.
For the sake of completeness,
Warrior: whirling axe (pbaoe dmg)
Engineer: throw gunk (ethereal combo field)
Theif: blinding thuft (stealth and pbaoe blind)
Ele: 170 range chill (a little over 10 seconds) – I forgot the name
Ranger: water combo field with regen (blast and leap will heal you a lot)
Guardian: 170 range stun
Necro: pbaoe fear
Mesmer: 10 seconds all boons including aegis excluding stability
ITT: People who think they know how thief/mesmer works.
edit: I agree that culling needs fixing, but people are being clueless about stealth
Maybe look at the plans for WvW in March.
Yeah, this.
I’d also point out that Anet went ~5 years into gw1 without really providing any benefits whatsoever for gvg except kitten size. So, frankly, I’m glad to get any sort of rewards.
I don’t think people want rewards so much as they want to compete / fight on an even playing field. I would wager large sums of money that the over whelming majority of people playing WvW could care less about any rewards they may get and only ask for the " rewards " so they can be equally geared with every one else and not have to waste countless hours in PvE.
I think WvW is unbalanced, but in a balanced way. Anyone can roll and level any class in a relatively acceptable amount of time. There are no classes that are useless in WvW. Even ranger is great for AoE that can reach AC in towers/keeps.
Sure, some classes rule roaming/1v1, but overall all classes/builds can be useful at one thing or the other.
I would wager large sums of money that the over whelming majority of people playing WvW could care less about any rewards
That’s the issue, in the lower population servers, night shifts are extremely sparse and prone to night-caps. The issue is, if PvE is more appealing (reward-wise) than WvW, how will you interest the rest of the server in it? How is it that it’s EASIER to obtain the commander tag in PvE than WvW? That’s just one simple example of the point I’m trying to illustrate. I agree that this has been brought up numerous times, but it’s still relevant.
How are we still SERIOUSLY talking about double-teaming. rofl.
Well said! I agree with you Lord Vrael wholeheartedly. I play in Tier 8 and it is really apparent that WvW is broken there. I play on the SF server that is dominating, but when there is no competition it is hard to find the funds to upgrade towers etc if they are taken during the night. Something should be done to make WvW more in line with the rest of the end game rewards.
You’re right, I didn’t even talk about the issue of upgrading costing several g. In BP, there really isn’t any issue with this as most of our commanders are either filthy rich and/or have large guilds that have shared funds for this. I do my fair share for the southern towers but I never had to upgrade a keep and always find them upgrading/upgraded.
I’d say the issue is that players don’t stick around to escort yaks after retaking towers. (see problem #4, no incentive to do the boring stuff)
Maybe look at the plans for WvW in March.
It’s not going to solve all my points.
Number 4 is the most damaging, in my opinion. There’s no incentive to do the “boring stuff”
If all you want is rewards, go farm CoF path 1 all day. If you don’t find having fun in WvW worthwhile then please go do something else.
Did you read the TL;DR?
Disclaimer: I play WvW every day because I like the challenge of killing people as PvE is no longer a challenge for me since about 500h of play time. Dungeons are easy, FOTM is easy, etc. WvW is still difficult.
At the moment, there is absolutely no reason for players to play WvW aside from acquiring 500 badges for the gift of battle. Let me elaborate:
1) You’ll die the most often out of any other game mode (dungeons, fotm, dynamic events) – repair costs are the highest in the game.
Oh wait, you’re a pro and you never die in WvW, RIGHT! That’s because you don’t push with your Commander and generally don’t listen, but you’re there to stand in the circle to cap a tower or keep! Yes yes, you know who you are. The truth is, you are MEANT to die WvW, simply because you cannot always win against other players, if you are, it means your WvW matchup is not balanced and not fun. Dying is part of the fun and is necessary. This issue creates a lot of “fair-weather” WvW players that leave a map once you start losing which causes frustration to the people who stay.
2) The rewards of killing players are much lesser than farming in Orr or doing Fractals.
Sure people have gotten lucky and have gotten precursors from players, but I’ll venture that your odds are better in PvE. Devs, feel free to prove me wrong. I’d love to hear that. As for gold/h, if you really think that WvW is worthwhile… Well you’re wrong. I do always come ahead, but with food that costs 5s /30min *2, in a full day of WvW where I’d get ~500-600 kills, I’ll make maybe 1-2g. I can make that in less than an hour doing a fractal run.
3) The rewards of capturing objectives are much lesser than dynamic events in PvE.
Example: I get more karma/xp/loot for killing Claw Of Jormag by barely doing anything aside from auto attacking the mob and rallying other players than fighting for several hours to capture a keep in WvW.
Now don’t get me wrong. Killing other people is fun. Fighting with your server is fun. It creates a feeling of belonging and patriotism towards your server, that’s good! But WvW is seriously lacking in rewards and incentive. WvW was supposed to be the utlimate end-game, and it does a very poor job at it. The only people who seem to be constantly doing WvW are those who seem to:
a) not care about better or cooler gear
b) already have everything they want
4) Doing the necessary things for your server are REWARDLESS. Patrolling your BL is completely rewardless. Refreshing siege every 30min is rewardless. Trebbing Durios for your server is rewardless. Defending an objective outnumbered 2-3 to 1 is very underwhelminly rewarding.
Many other things in WvW are broken/not optimal, but these in my opinion would bring a lot of new players to WvW and make a much more fun experience.
TL;DR I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FUN (WvW) AND WORTHWHILE REWARDS (PvE)
Some of my smoothest AC runs were done with < 80 characters. Believe it or not, a properly geared level 35 will have better stats than an improperly geared lvl 80.
Second of all, in the said epic run (I’ve run all dungeons many many many times, and I’ve never had a run without at least 1 pug) was so smooth because we maintained protection with 100% uptime at every step of the way with two guardians. We also had 2 eles, one of which was a level 80 with greens which allowed us, with shared auras to have fury 100% of the time as well and about 10+ stacks of might at all times.
Believe it or not, combo fields, finishers and boons will make your life 1000x easier than have 5 people will full exo/ascended that are playing a single player game.
Protip:
Guardian: Use a hammer with traits for symbols (longer and larger) and weapon mastery (20% less cd on two handed weapons) in the HONOR trait. This allows you to do a full auto attack (protection symbol) followed by blast finisher and repeat with no down time.
Thief: You have the single best spammable aoe blast finisher in the game, enough said.
Eles: Use a staff for the most combo fields of any class.
Mesmer: Timewarp, ethereal fields … enough said.
Warrior: Longbow fire combo field and blast. Banners are also blast finishers.
Necro: Dark fields.
etc etc.
Just read http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo and learn how to play your class for dungeons. When people realize that having boons for everyone is better than mix-maxing for dps, they will find dungeons easier.
