I’m playing on the Mac client, and it consistently crashes when attempting to enter our guild hall (Gilded Hollow).
This is the error I’m getting…

It’s disappointing, because dueling guildies in the arena (which we just unlocked) was one thing I was most looking forward to in HoT.
Yeah, maybe “bulk of” wasn’t the right phrasing. I just meant, I saw a lot of retaliation ticks, and wasn’t sure why it was happening.
Oh, that must be it! Thanks
So, that was just a lucky boon proc.
I bet the ranger was like “What the?” – the bulk of the damage he took seems to be from retaliation.
Here’s a video of me messing around in EotM on condi thief…

(The gameplay is nothing special, so please don’t judge too harshly.)
That said, at around the 0:39 mark, my character receives the retaliation boon.
I’ve replayed that several times, in slow motion even, and can’t seem to figure out how/why I got that boon.
It wasn’t on the ranger opponent (not a “stolen” boon).
As far as I can tell, it was applied when the NPC hit me. But that makes no sense.
Anyway, super odd. Potentially a bug with that particular NPC? I dunno.

Can you point me to where the celestial amulet changes were mentioned?
Thanks.
Shouldn’t you be satisfied with obsidian sanctum then?
Obsidian Sanctum is fine, as a map.
The problem with OS is that it’s not an instance. So, on tiers where GvG guilds tend to be, it’s not always available.
Also, OS doesn’t solve the issue of wanting to do GvG matches against opposing guilds that aren’t in your tier (or that you’re not matched up against in WvW that week), nor does it allow you to do a GvG against a guild from your own WvW server.
If they made OS an instance, that one guild could invite another to, that would solve pretty much what GvG guilds are looking for.
E-sports, rewards, official ranking/queue system, spectating… Those are all tangential.
I don’t think anyone who is interested in GvG’s sees those features as something that is absolutely necessary for Anet to build.
Yet, those arguing against the notion of a GvG mode keep bringing up those points as: too hard to implement, not enough return on investment, etc.
That’s fine. I/we get that. Also, we’re not asking for it.
best we can do is be reasonable w/ expectations and try to convince them to create ways for us to play our way. in the case of this thread, i mean, would a giant arena at least get you mostly towards the goal u want?
Obsidian Sanctum helps, assuming the guild you want to GvG happens to be in your server’s matchup for WvW.
However, as has been mentioned in this thread, that is why some guilds purposefully coordinate which server will/won’t move up/down a tier (purposefully losing in WvW, or doing a 2v1), to control the potential for GvG matchups (counterintuitive to how WvW is meant to work). The group of players I’ve been with for awhile, we’ve switched servers 5 times, in attempts to land in a “stable” tier, for consistent GvG style fights.
In the case of some NA tiers (T2, for example) there are enough “fight guilds” that Obsidian Sanctum is often in use during the hours your guild is online, and you end up awkwardly taking turns vs. other guilds, as to not upset allied guilds on your own server.
Making Obsidian Sanctum an instance would help, with the ability to invite guilds from servers that aren’t in your tier. Also, being able to do GvG’s against guilds that are on the same WvW server.
+1
I just read through each and every post on this thread.
For what it’s worth, I too hope to see some sort of official GvG support from Anet.
As for the toxicity of the community… I dunno. I try to be positive and respectful. (I’ll PM people in WvW and say “nice fight,” in hopes to set up more duels, etc.)
But I know tempers can flare in any competitive scenario. I don’t think that’s a reason to just write off what could be a great game mode.

This is my first engineer dueling video.
I made plenty of gameplay mistakes, but I feel like the duels went pretty well…
It had been awhile since I played engi, and was trying out a new build.
I am curious what y’all think about it…

This is an attempt at a “hybrid” build, with decent direct power, and some condition damage as well.
It started via a conversation with a friend, about how celestial engineer is awesome in PvP.
That led us to brainstorming about a possible alternative, with affordable exotic gear. It’s my attempt at a “poor man’s celestial engineer” build.
Here’s the breakdown…
– Berserker rifle. Sigil of doom. Sigil of purity.
– Soldier armor. Runes of the engineer.
– Rabid accessories. Exquisite chrysocola jewels.
Obviously, full ascended celestial would also have the “OP” benefit of higher crit damage and more healing power. Overall though, I feel like this is a pretty balanced build.

Um, yeah.
I just said I like it, in the previous post.
:)
I uploaded one more montage…
Also, I read through this forum thread…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/About-This-Condi-Guard-Hype/first
People seem sort of upset either for/against a hybrid (aka “condi”) build.
Honestly, I just play it because it’s fun. I threw it together as a lark, and it actually ended up being pretty decent.
I think of it this way: Would I craft ascended gear for this build? No. But is it enjoyable to play as “funzies”? Heck yeah.
:)

Yeah, I get overzealous at times, and try to double-hit with judge’s intervention and smite condition (even without a condition on me).
I don’t claim to be an expert player by any means, still trying to get better. The feedback is appreciated!
:)
Yeah, I hear you on run speed.
I find myself wishing I had traveler runes when covering large maps.
In terms of escapes, with the difference being no greatsword, it’s comparable to a power based meditation build.
But yeah, a shouts-based build would definitely have more stun-breaks and stability.

I’m a bit nervous as I post this, because it’s the first GW2 (or any YouTube) video I’ve uploaded, but here goes…
———
This is various footage from WvW and PvP, playing on my hybrid (power and condition) meditation guardian.
Though I wasn’t seeking out a specific type of opponent, this video has plenty of duels against thief, warrior, and ranger players.
While dueling some of the warriors, a thief and necro player interrupted. I left these clips in, as I felt it showcased how this build can apply sustained pressure, even with some cooldowns spent, and facing a fresh opponent.
———
NOTE: With food and runes, this build has +100% burning duration.
In WvW, I am running runes of the flame legion, carrion armor and weapons, with celestial accessories.
The weapon sets are sword/torch and scepter/focus, with sigil of doom and sigil of geomancy.
In PvP, because you can’t mix gear stats, I am using a carrion amulet (not celestial). Weapons, sigils, runes are the same.

I’d counsel civility within the thread…
Agreed.
Everyone loves it when they’re winning, but it’s no fun to be on the receiving end of gloating.
I can’t speak for the rest of HoD, since I only see things from my point of view, but in [KöMÉ] we don’t typically run from fights.
Heck, if I know I’m going to get overwhelmed, I usually try to get in a /dance as I die. Gotta go out in style!
Anyway, it’s just a game. I know tempers/egos flare, but I’m enjoying this matchup. In prime time NA, the FA groups do indeed hit hard.
:)
Semi-related: I had no idea we were up against Pyroathiest.4168 this week.
If you read this, big shout-out. Your videos were what made me want to try a mesmer!

Yep, we (KöMÉ) are loving our new home at HoD.
