With the recent changes and the direction the game is going, I think it’s time for me to bid you all a very fond farewell. Try not to complain too much without giving credible feedback and I hope they fix many of the things wrong with the feature pack that over killed me. I had some good memories these 2 years and I wish they could of lasted longer. Take care!

All the best, i’d keep an eye on the forum and patch notes. But i too will be leaving, Shame i regarded GW2 as the best MMO i’ve played.

Asof tomorrow, my input to GW2 will be minimal Archeage is being released and those devs listen to the player base, Perhaps ANET should take a look at their forum and see how customer relations work.

Such a shame seeing as this was the best MMO i’ve played.

I want to clarify one point I’ve been seeing expressed. This is one type of retention. There’s another type of retention where new players try the game and churn out before they even get to the point where they’re seeing the potential the game has to offer. Yes, a certain amount of people will just do that; they’ll log in to see what it’s about, have their curiosity satisfied, and move on. But we were seeing a lot of places where people who would otherwise have become active users were churning out prematurely because of the issues that we’re addressing with the NPE.

As Colin stated above, we can’t talk in detail about the ongoing development to drive retention for our veteran players, but I just wanted to make the point that the NPE was deliberately designed to address the early game retention issues, and ensure that Guild Wars 2 can benefit from a strong and steady influx of new players into the game.

I’m not one for forum posting, i think it’s useless. But this thread has got me biting. I’ve been playing GW2 from the pre release and in total only not logged in for 2-3 days in the time it’s been released. I’m a WvW player there is nothing in PVe that is of intrest any more. I’ve done every dungeon there is to do and i have managed to kill every Dragon there is in the world more times than i have cared to count. The end game is poor. It has taken way to long to bring out content for veteran players. To be honest this last patch is an insult to vet players, The levelling system was fine for us so it would be fine for new players. I think the time has come to quickly satisfy the vets out there. Bare in mind us vets, were here for a long time and we feel pushed aside. Take us WvW players, from day 1 till now we have the same maps. granted we have EOTM but thats not really WvW as it doesn’t help with points only serves for lower tier servers to have fights. Now we have coloured tags, wow. I guess that makes a difference. For the simplicity of including account bound and colours this could have implemented months earlier. Apologies for the rant, but i think more should be doen to keep vets.

mtpelion is correct. There are only the two events that were cut this time around, and two of the events from that original chain that were reworked. The two events that were cut were unfortunate, but due to the nature of this release’s development cycle, we just didn’t have the resources to go through and overhaul all of the events.

The level drop on the map from 80 to 15 was definitely done so as to not throw our new players from China into the “deep end of the pool” just a few days after the game opened to all on 5/15.

Ahh this now states the direction ANET will take from now on. It didn’t matter when it was released last year the new people would be “in the deep end” but now they have a new market to get money from, its thanks NA/EU but “See you.” Shame really i expected more.

Obviously many servers have lost a lot guilds and I know some guilds completely stopped playing Guild Wars 2 or are in the verge of doing that. I know for example that Piken Square has lost guilds. And if you read this announcement from Arenanet, it doesn’t make a genius to understand that from March 18th to March 27th will see some very large transfers:

People naturally want to stack on that servers, which they will think will have good chances to win. But prediction isn’t always that easy as fair-weather players can vanish if the server gets an unlucky loss at the start. My theory is that great & active PuG commanders and huge PuG population and good coverage is much more important for the win than having lots of hard core WvWvW guilds, who can win in open field and steamroll most of the PuGs.

In Season 1 – Gold League Seafarer’s Rest (SFR) was holding rank #1 and predicted to win it, but of course that didn’t happen, but Vizunah to took the top spot with a very large margin. Similar our server, Desolation, wasn’t speculated to win, but you know what happened. Desolation won every single match up, just like Vizunah. And both are PuG servers.

Luckily our server, Desolation, is doing well, despite the relatively high transfer costs. If the same story will repeat, we can get a huge influx of people from our massive pve population (probably biggest in EU and we have also some non-EU coverage).

I think players and guilds should think wisely where to transfer. Those servers which look strong on paper, might not be the winners.

Still no refund for me yet, Filled a support ticket asked for the gems and 6 splitters. It’s the least they could do.

ANET let you change servers so there is nothing that can be done. You need Gems to transfer and i guess more than a few buy them with RL money. So why would ANET stop that?

Obviously this would cost Supply, coin and Karma.

As the title says, just an idea, i know the devs wont look but. What about if when you have a T3 tower, keep or SM., there was an option to repair the walls and gates? This would stop when it is fully repaired and would have to be activated again if the wall/gates get attacked again. It would then be a reason to have 2 workers and to keep hold of camps for as long as possible.

Whats your ideas on this?

A little while ago ( read months) i remember a post regarding the price of precursors going up. There was a dev reply saying there was “actively” watching it. I have seen that Dusk is now for sale for 815 Gold. I have tried and tried to get Dusk to drop for me via the Mystic toilet. 500 gold still no luck, i will not try anymore. A question for any dev out there that actually feels they could answer this. How are you going to stop the price from rising more? You constantly nerf farming! cos it’s not how you want it. Yet with the prices like they are how are we supposed to get this sort of money together?

For reference, i am bored of all the PVE content out there. WvW is where i spend as much time as i can.

Precursors do drop from the chests, but very rarely. I’d love to say you should be able to get everything ever from just playing WvW, but not only is that not going to happen, it’s not good for the game as a whole. We will continue to do what we can to improve the rewards available from WvW and there are some developments specifically relating to skill points that are coming soon to the game as a whole, but honestly if you want to get all the things in the game, you have to play all the game. Branch out, I suspect you’ll enjoy it. And WvW will still be there when you want to play it.

That’s basically admitting that they have to cajole us back into PvE for whatever reason. Be it making the LS look more populated than it would be otherwise or whatever. Granted, this post was about getting particular shinies. Shinies which I have no problem going without, but it still betrays that the devs feel the need to push us back into PvE for some reason. It was kind of insulting (and as a general rule, I’ll defend Devon and the devs) that he was implying that all of us in WvW land had no idea what we were missing. I’d wager most WvWers got their $60 out of PvE and are sticking around specifically for the WvW. That would be, like, playing how you want to play.

Spot on perfect. I have played some 2800hrs on this game. Not alot compared to some i know, but i have done all the PVE i ever want to do. I have wasted alot of my own money trying for a precurser to get a legendary( some 500 gold brought with gems) with no luck. I have no intrest in anything PVE anymore. I play the game for WvW yet we get no real support. I can only assume that the Devs are trying there best at pushing forward in WvW but i dont really see any light in the tunnel. It’s been 1 full year since release and what have we got. I have done every single Beta weekend that i could, and nothing in WvW has changed really since, then. Dont get me wrong i love the game. But we will never be treated like the PVEer’s out there.

I think this is the best fight I’ve had on GW2 since day 1. I only managed to record from when we took the gate down on bay. Please enjoy i know i did.

Hi Swisstony, I got only one question. Did you and your guild leader realized that what happened to RoF last weeks, can happen to everybod?
I dont know which server you come to, but I hope it was not GH,Gandara,AG,MS,FSR,Arb,FR,BT,Un,DL,Ko,WSR,FoW and Vabbi.
Because each of those servers had bad luck this week. Either they stomp or beiing stomped.

This week we have Dzag and RoS and I can say, reset night was the funniest thing happened in last 4 weeks.

Like i said in my post, moving has nothing to do with the match ups. Fighting Vabbi and FoW, ok not ideal but still doesn’t bother me. It is all about having fun. I’m glad you was having fun, but everyone’s definition of fun is different where we are was one of the best resets I’ve taken part in.

As Guild officer of one of the guilds that left RoF, i can tell you it was not a easy decision. But like i said in the community meeting I brought the game for my enjoyment and it came to the point when i was not enjoying myself anymore. RoF has been my home since BWE1, so believe me it was not easy for me to move. The WvW match-ups for me are not a problem i don’t care if we win or lose, all that matters to me is that i have fun. At the end of a day it’s a “GAME.” I moved away 2 weeks ago to another server where i was shown a completely different side of the game, which i really enjoyed. For me this is the reason we moved we simply wasn’t enjoying RoF anymore, Nothing to do with match-ups, nothing to do with PVE or even the pugs in WvW.

Thanks for an incredible 18 months RoF but it’s time to move on.

I’ve been thinking about the better use of space on every BL for a while now, and have come up with a idea. Get rid of the water in the middle of the BL it’s not needed and entirely wasted space. Instead replace said area with ground and place a tower or mini SM in the middle.

This mini SM could then be attacked by any other tower/keep on the BL. The points on holding this mini SM would have to be high enough to warrant holding it. But would constantly be in a battle state. Plus having a 360 degree attack face means anyone could attack it.

The only thing is if a server has massive numbers. But hey i operate on a low tier server with not many active players

I might be wrong, but i believe that if you bid an amount higher than the lowest selling price of that item, you will pay that amount (lowest selling price).

Like:
Item A lowest price is selling for 10g!
Item A highest bid is buying for 8g!
If you bid 20g, it buys the item for 10g!

About the item not showing up, wait a bit longer, as the TP was experiencing some abnormalities!

I’m guessing here and prob wrong but if you put 20g in then it will buy 20g worth of items. Or the excess amount will be available for pick up. Like i say prob wrong but you never know.

Ring of Fire, has one of the highest population in Europe, yet not many people seam to play WvW hence our low tier ranking. Now if only a dragon would appear in the WvW map we would own!!!!

Bear in mind that a commander can only have 30 (I think) in his squad so i would say a zerg is 30. a blob being 50 all stacked.

This sucks a bit, i just listed “firebringer” for 110 gold, it took my listing money, and the sword. But no sign of it on the TP. Jeez what a way to lose 100+ gold.

Why dont they just take the TP offline when it’s running bad like this, they did when the game was released.

i totally feel you and i am sorry for you putting up with us.. That’s main reason why most of my guild (WvW orientated) took a PvE week and we dont go into WvW (for example instead of WvW event we took balthazar today etc.) I respect you guys, because you are really fighting hard and doing your best. I hope they will finally do something about it…..

We had a bit of a talk about the lower tier scores in the guild the other day. As there are just two servers that lack wvw competition, absorbing the two into each other or other servers would break the multiple of 3 necessary for the matchups.

Although I don’t know the server or systems limitations, a solution would be to absorb the bottom servers into the tier above for the purpose of wvw in reverse proportion. So Vabbi would fight alongside ROF in wvw, woe alongside arborstone, and blacktide alongside whiteside ridge.

The shift in power would most likely accelerate blacktide/whiteside out of the bottom tiers, but should bring Vabbi and woe back into contention. This would also raise those servers wvw morale, and keep the lower ranks more balanced and closer together.

At current their rankings are so low that even with the randomisation, they will both be in the same matchups as each other getting beaten in the same or higher proportions regardless.

Minor edit: As Ashan above me was typing as I was, seems the general idea is a popular one!

I for one would like the idea of merging with Vabbi or FoW. I am a constant WvWer on RoF and i disagree with all the moaning from some of the guys here. I agree we shouldn’t of been put in this tier but hey ho, there’s nothing we can do about it. Many RoF guys know that our server is mainly a PVe server we lack the numbers for constant WvW, and with a serve merge like this it would only help us all in the long run. The thing is how would they do it. WvW only or maybe a full merge!!

I’ve had a lot of good fights with some Vabbi and FoW guys over the past couple of days.
