As we’ve said before, the royal club system currently running in China will not be coming to the NA/EU version of the game.
I dropped like 3 so yea 100% rng.
Mai Trin? Is that you?
Hrouda! :’(
I’ve really tried to like it, and I probably would’ve if it hadn’t been for me experiencing the truly amazing levelling experience GW2 initially had. It was perfect, it made sense: You use a weapon, you unlock its skills, you use another weapon, you unlock the other weapon’s skills. How would me spamming scepter 1 help me learn dagger 2? The new experience doesn’t make sense to me. Weapon swap at lvl 12 (or 13 or whatever it is)? Sure it makes sense for new players, but please give me an option to receive it earlier after leveling my umpteenth alt. Even still, I think I would’ve been able to make my piece with all that if it hadn’t been for the awful awful awful awful awful AWFUL trait system they implemented.
With that said, kudos to them for admitting their mistakes and reverting back some of the changes…now if they would only implement a more veteran-friendly leveling experience…
And patch notes are up. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-November-18-2014/4568956
A new Pact weapon set is available at Black Lion Weapon Specialists for a limited-time price of one ticket per weapon. Tickets can be found inside Black Lion Chests.
Of Kittening course. Shoulda known that was coming. For every one ingame acquirable weapon set the BLTC gets at least 5-10.
They release new, completely optional, skins through the gem store which is practically their only mode of gaining money after a player has purchased the game? How dare they? I think it’s time for a boycott!
Wow so it’s true, GW2 players are really and truly spoiled…
I’ve had Firefox as my main browser for a long time yet I still get crashes regularly if the browser is open at the same time as tp, and I don’t really have any Java-related problems or error messages. Any communication from the devs regarding this matter would be most welcome as it’s starting to get ridiculous now.
Thanks guys!
I am going to get all the info that has been provided above to the correct team as it will help them determine why y’all are still having issues.
Any luck so far? Are you guys getting near a solution? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
I use my excessive tokens to purchase greatswords and gamble at the mystic forge, you never know when it’ll happen and you get a pre (no luck so far though)
Otherwise the best consistent method is to purchase the least expensive armour/weapon pieces and salvage them with black lion or mystic kits for insignias/inscriptions. And yes, they are salvageable.
Thoughts on standardizing the priority of combo fields regardless of overlap to the following:
1.) Fire
2.) Fire
3.) Fire
4.) Fire
5.) Fire
6.) Fire
7.) Fire
8.) Fire
9.) Everything else

When I think of Sylvaris, I think of Rangers.
When I think of Asura, I think of Elementlists and Mesmers.
When I think Charr I think of Warriors, Thieves, and Engineers.
When I think Norn I think of Necromancers and Guardians.
When I think of Humans, I think of people who lack imagination.
In order to fix something, it has to be broken. The game has its faults but for the most part it’s just fine. It certainly doesn’t merit such a drastic change as you are suggesting.

I’m torn about this. While it would be great to be able to mix n match, outfits are wonderful for when leveling a new character without having to worry about your character looks. You just tick the outfit box and you’re free to wear all those ugly low-lvl skins. The best thing, of course, would be to both keep the outfits as they are, as well as adding a separate version of them as individual pieces, but one can only dream…
There’s a champ abomination in the marshes in south-western corner of Gendarran Fields that is great fun to solo, though he might be a bit too easy (he’s basically a miniature version of Arah abom boss). It was great fun practicing on him as a lv50 warrior. Let him build up a couple of frenzy stacks for extra challenge.
Not sure what the point of this thread is. If you like efficiency you run zerker with like-minded people. If you like straying around and day-dreaming then you run whatever you like, again with like-minded people. The point is not whether to run zerker or not, the point is to play the game with people who share the same definition of fun as you do. Nobody ever tries to force you to go full zerker and as you pointed out, there are many “all welcome”-lfg’s out there. So again, I’m completely missing the point of this thread.
I thought I was the only one who experienced those weird dungeon lags. Yesterday however, my whole party dc’ed in the middle of TA forward and we lost the instance and had to start over.
The weird part is I seem to only experience these lag spikes when in a dungeon instance. I can stand in front of the dungeon area and go through my skill rotations without any problems, however as soon as I enter the instance I get skill delays, chat delays, weird movement patterns and all kind of other annoying lags. Worth mentioning is that this mostly occurs during prime time.
logged in on mac today to try the new tp fix, but nope, worked the first time but the game crashed the second time I opened the tp (just like before patch).

Unfortunately, the approach we are seeing here is one a company would take if they have no intention of making the changes players are suggesting. I do believe that this is probably an order from higher up at NCSoft, and Anet just has to deal with it also. Gail is simply doing her job and telling us what she’s been told to, while the execs hope that the rage will die down and GW2 won’t implode suddenly like so many games that got really greedy before it.
I have absolutely no doubt it is. However that still doesn’t explain the lack of communication prior to releasing it. Creating a simple thread like: “Hey guys, we have decided to switch the gold/gem conversion to fixed amounts instead of free conversions. How do you think this should be implemented?”
This would have eliminated the vast majority of the shock and rage posts in this thread.

I’m holding my breath for an item that lets you exchange gold to gems freely as before. C’mon Zomorros, I believe in you!
I don’t understand this whole confusing to new players thing: Weren’t we all new players once (both to gw2 as well as the gaming world in general)? Didn’t we figure out everything as we went? What’s stopping new players from going the same road as we did? Why do they have to be fed everything with a baby spoon? Also, just an fyi, not everyone like to be spoonfed everything, that includes newer players. Some people like that curious feeling of starting a new game and learning the ropes as they experience new thing, crazy I know.
I never suggested unskippable cutscenes. In fact, I am severely against unskippable cutscenes in any game anywhere. I used to make games for a living and I spent a LOT of effort making cutscenes skippable (it’s actually quite hard in some engines) because unskippable cutscenes drive me bonkers.
So no, unskippable cutscenes would never be on the table. I was just pointing out that because everyone these days speedruns, most new dungeon players have never and will never see them, and that is sad. By enabling non-speedruns to be viable you also allow for more casual or new players who DO want to watch the cutscenes.
Is it possible to form a casual group right now and watch the cutscenes? Yes.
Is it really hard to do so and takes forever because 99% of people in LFG are speedrunners? YES.
So you are trying to change the playstyle of the majority to cater for the minority here, why should that be the case?
Again, if they make trashmobs/cutscenes/anything-in-the-middle-of-the-dungeon rewarding then there are two likely scenarios to happen: Either the rewards won’t be worth it and completing the path faster would still be more profitable, hence people would stick with it. Or the rewards will be so great that it is not worth finishing the path, which will lead to players doing half a dungeon, exit, and repeating the process.
If I may ask a question, OP, what is wrong about speedrunning?
So my original title was bad – I shouldn’t have called it “eliminate speedruns” – if that’s what people want to do, they should be allowed to do it. Eliminating them as an option wasn’t really my goal – there’s nothing wrong with speedruns.
I believe that a system where speedruns are heavily encouraged is wrong because it is insular and hostile to new players and also too uniform, resulting in a very grindy experience because if the overwhelming majority of groups/pugs are speedrun-based, it becomes difficult or impossible to experience the content in a different fashion.
I’d love to do a casual, slow dungeon run where I watch the cutscenes and just do things at a “normal” pace, but finding players willing to do this is virtually impossible. It takes an hour or two just to get a group together; most people in LFG will ignore a group advertised as “no speedrun” or “casual group” – even “new” players often want to speedrun.
I’m suggesting a system that makes it equally profitable for “casual” groups to take an hour to clear a dungeon.
I hear what you’re saying. The problem is that most of the people who are interested in dungeons have done them hundreds of times now and seen those cutscenes multiple times. Consider yourself in their shoes, if you’re a veteran dungeon runner who has been running the same dungeons for 2year+ now, how would you react to things like unskippable cutscenes? Sure, they may be nice to see the first or second time around. But what about the 10th, 20th, 50th time? Don’t you think they’ll result in an even grindier experience? Just look at the vista example in open world: How many people running on their 20th alt stop and actually view the vista rather than just skip it for quick experience? Your suggestion about more spread-out loot has been tried before and all it leads to is people farming half the dungeon to get to the most profitable part and repeat the process (à la the SE1 situation that we have today).
As for new people having a hard time finding a group, my experience has been the exact opposite. I’ve seen a myriad of “all welcome” lfg’s all over the place, not to mention the wonderful community initiative we have on our hand in form of the Dungeon Mentors guild: People who have spent 100s of hours in dungeons trying to teach the ropes to newer players. I really don’t get where you’re getting all this toxic thing, sure some people can be kittens but please don’t blame the whole community for it.

I know you’re trying to be helpful which is great, but do you really think it is wise to be offering this kind of terminology to a player who is completely and admits openly to being overwhelmed?
It’s very unlikely that this has any meaning at all to somebody this new, heck, I’ve only been playing a month or two (although my account is a release account) and I personally have no idea what that string of numbers means at all, apart form it being something to do with traits.
No offence meant to you, you’re only trying to help, but it does grind my gears a bit when players of games offer help to new players in the form of game specific cyphers not thinking that it means almost nothing to them.
Relax there. He has no idea of what you (or OP) know or doesn’t know about the game. The terminology exists there for a reason, it is a standard used by most players to denote trait allocation. You can’t simply expect people to read your mind to see what you know and what you don’t. If you have problems understanding a specific advice offered to you, try asking nicely instead of going on full offense, I’m sure alot of people will try their best to explain it to you.
I know a nomad guardian that’s darn near indestructible in WvW.
The golem in HotM is indestructible too..

One target is already confusing enough, don’t you think multiple targets would confuse newer players?
ehh I’ve got loads but can’t remember all of them. Here are some of the memorable ones:
- TA up + fwd with blackjack and hookers (I’m assuming he was kicked from one of the other lfg’s)
- AC P1&3, no male asuras (for some reason)
- SE P1 farmbox only warrs ping gear, get with the pros (I didn’t know pros only used warriors)
buuuuhhhh anet is awesome anet is great
Here we go again. The only boss in the game that is actually challenging and people are asking for nerfs? Do you want another zerg 11111 afk boss? Don’t we have enough of those already?
And to those people complaining about other guilds organising it? really? You do realise that those people take time of their life to organise 150 people in order for you to get the achievements, and they ask for absolutely nothing in return?
Also what is this talk about this event being exclusive? I have never joined a wurm guild, all I do is hop on TS like the rest of their members and usually i either end up in one of their maps as they coordinate a jump, or I always find some friendly soul who is willing to taxi me in (usually taxis are announced in abundance in TS).
With that said however, I do agree that there is no incentive to do the event beyound completing the achievements and getting the titles. So I’d welcome higher reward for this event more than anything else.
Sell it. You are still a low level and 40g is an enormous amount of gold that can get your first character fully geared and still have enough gold left for a sandwich. My rule of thumb has always been to favour efficiency more than cosmetics, at least when you’re starting your adventures. You can always go to the tp later and buy that dye once you hit lvl80 and start making more gold. But as of now, you need that gold more than a dye that holds nothing but cosmetic value anyways.
When they will add new weapons, they should consider PvE abilities, like healings and blocks. Targeted healings and more blocks for the tanks, and the aegis buff should stack…
5 man Dungeons, in a game that doesn’t have more than that (10/25/40 man), should have “holy trinity”.
Ok that’s it, you’re grounded. Now go to your room and think about what you did!
The easiest way of obtaining Bloodstune Dust and Emypreal Fragments is by running dungeons, they drop in abundance from final chests that you receive when completing each path daily.
Best way of obtaining Dragonite Ore is by simply farming world bosses as well as the temple events in the Orr maps (Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap, Cursed Shore). World bosses spawn on set times, you can view a schedule of the upcoming world bosses through the following link:
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/
Just copy and paste the waypoint code in your chat and you will get the nearest waypoint where the event spawns.
As for Obsidian Shards, as far as my knowledge goes, you only need 30 of them to craft an ascended weapon. The most common way of obtaining them is through the karma merchant in Straits of Devastation. The merchant is only available upon completing Balthazar temple event, so if the temple is not open on your map, you may have to gather enough people to complete it. Each Obsidian Shard costs 2100 karma, therefore you’re going to need 63k karma overall to buy enough Obsidian Shards. That isn’t much really, and you probably already do have more than that just by levelling to 80 alone. If not, just spend an hour or two on the Edge of the Mists train (accessible by pressing the “B” button) and you should have enough karma.
Well I don’t know when the ascended armor was added to the game but as far as I know, exotic armor has been there since start. And I believe that most people still run around in exotics, if not on their mains then most definitely on their alts. Not that it’s that much of a difference since ascended is only 5% boost compared to exotics. So you must be doing something really wrong outside of armor rarity choice.
