After the update of today, my characters are stuttering on my screen.

Everything else on the screen is not stuttering , except my character (when moving)
Running 64bit Client fyi

- Tried to relog
- Tried to restart

When using movement skills, there is no character-stutter.
It’s only when running.

The last recent balance did things mostly good but skipped alot of broken facts, for I dont know what reasons.

The things being most OP never got touched and I think today’s show has proven pvp is still missing nerfs.

Let me make a small list of OBVIOUS broken stuff you never even cared about the last and current meta:

- Scrapper’s survivability + dps + gyro’s with passive play (stomp/rez).
All you’ve done is increase some cd’s which were good but still ridiculously low for some reason. It still has too much survivability for the amulet its using. I know you don’t want to make it a dead spec but come on..

- Druid’s Pet DPS; coming from Bristleback specifically. It’s broken as kitten. No idea why, despite ALL the complaints, you let this through. It one-hits any other DPS’er along with 1 daze/stun. Such passive play should NOT be supported.

- Revenant’s Mobility + DPS + survivability. Exact the same as Scrapper but only worse. I know you’ve toned down the damage. You can leave the DPS the same all I care but do something about the survivability and mobility. It’s just ridiculous.

- DH’s elite visual bug. It’s still in the game, like wtf, really? I get knockdown for walking against an invisible wall, over and over for 4 seconds. Traps are already very rewarding and you’re just making it worse by let it have a visual “invisible” bug.

Those OP’ness stated above is just making the pvp matches make very toxic. Every team is now running 2 Revenants, 2 Scrappers and an Ele. Great.

I really hope the 23rd of February you’re going to tone down the passive-play in the above mentioned topics.

I wish for the day I can play both my mains again; thief & warrior without the feeling the match is lost because I’m playing I class I want but being mostly useless due the broken stuff around.

Don’t wait 4 kittening months for really simple, small stuff.
I swear, alot of ppl will lose their minds and just quit the game again and wait till next balance patch like I did with the previous meta.

Don’t be lazy, I beg of you.

So I am curious.

Given you clearly watched the matches today and there was a grand total of one druid (and several eles), why do you think this proves druids need nerfs ?

Just as much why Turret Engineer used to have nerfs. Or other specs who didnt even cut it for ESL/Meta. Too much reward for no effort.

How is it fair for a single button (on low cd) hitting over 10k?

I really lack the insight in why people would even support this kind of damage on pet. Unless its the only build in the game they can/want play because of easy 1v1 kills.

All in all, I got to say the balance is overal fine compared to other mmo’s despite some OP spikes here and there. I wanted to make this list for ArenaNet so they get my overall view on the matter what should change drastically and what (top) players would love to see aswel.

  • Queue’ing outside of HoTM: waiting 5-20mins is a real pain and might be one of the reasons stopping players to PvP. Let us 1v1 and/or Map Completion w/e meanwhile
  • No action/change inside HoTM; as another post said HoTM is not really fun and gives us nothing but AFK’ing while waitin for queue pop
  • NEW: Stuck in Queue pop window: Why did you ever implent this? As it wasn’t worse enough to be stuck in HoTM AFK’ing till queue pops, now we can’t even continue what we were doing when queue pops
  • Class Stacking in Matches: Should not be allowed anymore if we aim for more balanced matches. This should also be the case in (Un)ranked and hotjoin. To clarify as alot of people dont understand this: 3 thieves in your team results in automated loss while having 3-4 eles will make your team win.
  • Give us what you promised: the bi-weekly balances are nowhere to be seen, aside from very minor fixes to tooltips. Nerf/Buf faster and see the PvP Community grow
  • Re-think matchmaking formula: letting low MMR play with high MMR players is far from a working system
  • Re-think matchmaking system: split SoloQ and TeamQ ASAP. Premades vs Soloq’rs is NEVER fair. As Helseth proposed back in April, make a seperate queue for teams only, perhaps. (watch the first 15mins of the vid linked,where he rants about matchmaking)
  • Boot Camp: Have low ranked ppl play with other low ranked untill they reach a certain rank
  • Report Options: There are close to none pvp related report options as exploiting and/or AFK’ing/griefing. AFK’ers should be dealth with
  • Build Templates: Those should be ingame since BETA. Ppl are forced using other character slots for total different builds they cant 100% remember while multi-classing.
  • Important Bug Fixes: should be one of your priorities. Mid-air immob is killing loads of players and destroying certain matches, no idea why its getting ignored or not even responded about it on the threads
  • More PvP events/HoTM buffs
  • More PvP exclusivity (like what comes with HoT badges and legendary backpack)
  • More communication through forums, certainly on Thief & Ranger forum, where I noticed no red posts for tons of pages whereas all other classes do have a red post within first 10 pages.
  • More spectator options: able to spectate a guildies or friends (Un)ranked would be really nice, with a delay ofcourse.
  • Map Overlook: As another thread clearly stated, the symbols of the points are a bit too big/wrong color. The class symbols fighting on the point can be barely seen. A change would be beneficial to have a better view where your mates/opponents are (maybe different colors?)

Evan Lesh quote: "Ranked will always have higher wait times than unranked because it has a smaller population of players. The only way to compensate is to make worse matches. This will be a different story when Leagues start though "

Where’s the minor balance tweaks you promised us in the official Guild Wars 2 post?

I’ve uploaded the screenshot here so you’ll see.
Tooltips fixes or just fixes arent balance tweaks.

Now I can wait for months again to play my mains Thief/Warrior, without having to worry about being optimal for my team or.

Oh and get flamed on because my main-classes arent viable again / still

Still waiting for:

- Rev survivability shave
- Scrapper survivability shave
- Druid Pet (Bristleback) Damage
- DH’s Elite Trap invisible bug (which is really gamebreaking and still not fix?)

1) Pre-Seasons to avoid Stompfest in first weeks of Season
2) Minimum 4 different classes per team in Ranked
3) More periodic nerfs/buffs to utterly broken/obvious stuff that needs to be fixed (this will eventually show the real pro players instead of ppl getting carried by broken mechanics, eg Rev/Scrapper) along with more PvP-oriented updates.
4) Add Tutorial explaining what Conquest is
5) Have a bootcamp for beginners untill they reach 250 ranked games (separate league where they only face players in the same league)

It’s in good shape in terms of conquest, still. Although it needs more nerf depends on who play the thief itself. Tips? Play the Trait System and look for yourself how wonderful it is.

More nerfs? It actually is in a dire need of buffs.
It’s already bullied into a corner, tyvm.

If you dont play/main a thief, please don’t call for nerfs without knowing how it works.

ANET chose to strip the vast majority of Mesmer defense. Offensive power was also greatly reduced ( 50% Alacrity nerf .)

At the same time they buffed thief auto attack by 30%. This alone would have meant that a thief pulling off a backstab would most likely be able to kill a Mesmer in 1 or 2 moves.

That wasn’t enough though.. ANET added an unblockable bassy venom. This makes the Mesmer shield ( our new weapon ) essentially worthless v. a thief. With the damage increase, a thief can practically kill a Mesmer with a very short combination of button pushes with almost no risk.

I doubt that even shortsighted ANET could have failed to anticipate this situation and it is likely to kick Mesmer right back to trash tier where we languished for years.

So, my question is; “Why do you hate mesmer , ANET?”

Are you taking revenge on a Pro League Mesmer?

Is it office politics at ANET?

Do you simply not want Mesmer in the game?

ANET won’t answer of course, that would require both courage and honesty.

Like, honestly, all I read is “oh no, someone can finally counter/pressure me a bit”..

Some ppl are STILL protecting that Grenade Barrage is working as intented with Grenadier Trait.

  • Without Grenadier trait: 6 nades (TESTED)
  • With Grenadier trait: 13-14 nades (TESTED + screenshot below)

The circles show where every nade is going to land.
Note how many circles there are with Grenadier trait after using Barrage, which should only have 7 circles aka 7 grenades and not 13 (which is utterly one shotting everyone without some 25% hp trait)

Fix this asap, its one-shotting fair players and ppl trying to rez.

Hopefully this will also get the attention another “WTB” thread had.

Basically what I suggest is a SoloQ Ranked system in between Seasons.
You won’t have to worry about burnout because aslong it’s SoloQ (and not with parties), it should be fine.

SoloQ with a Leaderboard, only in between seasons.
Use this as a test to see if many ppl play SoloQ and eventually implent it permanently.

Anet stated that the PvP community has grown and keeps on growing.
That results in also more ppl who want to have SoloQ aswel.

And I think alot of ppl would SoloQ just to avoid Unranked and/or test their builds they used in Unranked to SoloQ.

I do suggest being strict around requirements aswel; such as no class-stacking and no parties allowed.

Btw: Thief has been destroyed in June – the only spec still halfway viable was D/P – doesn’t mean it was good but it can avoid most damage and hadn’t had its core traits nerfed unlike every other thief build.

Let’s not forget that the only reason D/P remains viable is a borderline exploit stealth stacking technique which requires unintuitive camera work and was most certainly not designed to work that way in the first place.

I’m going to quote you on that; that’s not true.
Top Tier thieves won’t waste their initiative on the 4th HS, for that 1 second more stealth.

There are other classes which uses this “unintuitive camera work” or swap wep/kit mid leap to make it shorter to stay on point..

S/d is viable. You need to adapt in terms of traits though.

All builds are viable but far from optimal in competitive pvp.
S/D is beyond bad in competitive pvp.

Thief is being pigeonhold into D/P 60606. Every Thief player knows this.
If S/D was really "optimal’, we would’ve seen them at ESL yesterday but no, only d/p, I wonder why..

I do agree with you but there’s a catch; in order to figure out such styles, which at the same time should be viable, they need to test.

Anet doesn’t have the amount of testers, nor do the testers there have a clue about high-level conquest to reproduce on the site.

Basically what I’m saying is they’ll need us as guineapigs to fight out for weeks, like a League season.
Problem on using us as test is that there will always be 1 “style” of meta, like we always had.

So its kind of a vicious circle.
In other words; it’s impossible unless they revert back to the HamBow meta, which seemed the best period of balance and fun in PvP.

Despite ppl calling it a bunker meta, I think everyone right now (except those adoring their faceroll specs now) would be happy to switch back to the HamBow meta.

Every single class, including Ranger, was used in top tier play. (yes, even when ppl called ranger unviable, there were 2 EU top teams using a ranger and winning all their games).

Engineers with ‘Elixir S’ x 2 + Vamp runes is too much if you ask me.
Not to mention their blocks and stealth/moa :/

Im seeing a grow in Soldier Engineers using this build, as it is a bit too rewarding for making too many errors.

Either a nerf will come to Vamp Rune or CD increase on Elixir S.

Oh noes, mesmer is actually viable the first time in 3 years, better get those nerfs rolling.

They were always viable, it just took more skill & team practice compared to now.

That myth has been debunked like months ago.
Mesmer’s havent been meta for some time.

Mesmers havent been meta because no1 outside helseth’s & frost’s teams actually put effort into playing with it (high risk = high reward)

Having 2 eles and/or shoutbow was more rewarding for much less effort.
Why go high reward = high risk if you can low risk = high reward?

Mesmer was always viable. It had a higher skill level to be viable + needed top partners to make it work, which is a difference.

Teams had to make a comp around mesmer/thief, which costs loads of time and effort.
As we know, lots of teams on EU and NA actually split after a while. Which is why it wasnt worth it going for a mesmer.

Not being in most teams comps doesnt mean its not viable.

Frost and Helseth actually debunked your theory.

To add to this terror..
Here is a history of mesmer that everyone seems to forget.

Mesmers started dropping out of the meta at the same time warrior was buffed. Recall that this was when they nerfed mainhand sword into the ground, making effective play much harder. It came back a little with double ranged shatter builds, but by the time those got much use, the condition meta hit and dunked mesmer out of the meta hard.

After the condition meta started getting toned down was when s/d thief skyrocketed in popularity, and forced mesmers to remain out of the meta for this period. Shortly thereafter, the celestial meta hit, and mesmers have remained out of the meta for the remainder of it.

At all points, a couple people still played mesmer. This, however, is anything but evidence of mesmer’s meta status. Even the very best mesmers in the game spent record time in downstate, and were ultimately only on the teams because of portal, and because their personal skill allowed them to bludgeon a non-viable class into use.

Lastly, as my original point that I made was about, that was foolishly disputed, at every single point in the history of play, the meta focused towards builds that were low effort, low risk, and high reward.

Again, being not in the meta comps doesnt mean it wasnt viable. It WAS always viable.

Power ranger was viable but not optimal

Saying mesmer sucked very hard as a burst class is simply wrong because it was back then one of the best duelists of all classes.

But as I said myself, the effort into going for optimal was a waste of time because ele and shout warrs were a better option. (low risk = high reward).

But pls, never say mesmer wasnt viable, it was just not optimal

“Not viable” means its not even good for average SoloQ plays, like Spirit Guardian.

@Denied This attitude is why they stopped being so transparent in the first place. They announce what they’re planning on, but things change. Then people get upset. If thief is strong without it, I don’t see any reason to complain about it. And as for eles, I agree, but it should be fixed soon.

Thief is far from strong (currently), I said thieves are ok in Conquest as u said they are in most teams.
They’re not in teams because “they’re strong”, you know that, Olrun.
Only good for mobility or +1 as we cant really fight 1v1 as Mesmers can..

The CC’s on traps are ridiculous + the elite being visually bugged and you cant expect melee specs to just wave at your from afar.

..another “nerf ele” thread , like there are not already dozen of them…sometimes I wonder if people buy games just to have forum accounts but more than anything why playing something that makes you that angry and salty? Games are meant to be fun, if you’re not having fun, buy another product and leave for good

If ppl play ele to faceroll and AFKwin, there’s no need to play this game either, is there?

[Feedback] World Tournament Series 2015

Pros:

  • Introducing Clips: Those were amazing and fun to watch to gain an overall view about the Team Captains and get a ‘personal connection’ to them.
  • Stage: The stage was nicely done and put together with nice colors, complimenting the logo and lights effect
  • Host: The host, who’s probably new to Guild Wars 2 actually did a good job at hosting the Tournament. Ofcourse, it was done by a professional but I felt to share this nevertheless. He was fluent and had the crowd started.
  • Casters: The casters did a great job overall. Great job Daniel & James!
  • Analysts: Quite surprised about Chro Nick being so active as an analyst overall and the way he could overlay points towards his partners. Also his English pronunciation was off the charts for someone who doesn’t speak English as main language! Props Chro Nick! Wish I could speak English as fluent as you!
  • Advertisements: Now this is a double-edged sword which I will have to split in Pro but also in a Con. It was shorter compared to Boston and China’s ads, which was followed by a solid transition back into another match. Total ad time was like 5-8mins max
  • Introducing teams and its members: Before the matches were going to start, teams got introduced with a picture with names to its respective owner. This again gave a personal touch, so people know who they’re watching
  • Keyboards and mice: I did notice most players were playing with a different mouse and/or keyboard compared to its partner. I don’t know if they are the player’s personal equipemnt brought from home or ArenaNet/Gamescon actually was able to deliver what the player wanted. Me personally I would love to continue seeing this in the future LAN’s. I remember seeing every player had to use the standard SteelSeries equipment in previous LAN’s. This is something that scared me away of even trying to join a LAN since I cannot play without a Naga/G600 (12 sidebuttons) by my side due my left hand being less responsive. Quite sure there are more like this amongst us!
  • Prizes: This is again a double-edged sword split into a pro and con. I felt the prizing was solid, certainly for our “Flex-Machine” Toker who got the MVP prize (Alienware PC if Im not mistaken). The Team Captain got his hands on a brand new GTX980 (4GB DDR5 If Im not mistaken) which is a very solid GPU. Now I’m not sure if all team members got something asside the prize money, there were more GTX 980’s lying on the floor, next to the Host.
  • Announcement: It was a great PvP announcement for Veterans amongst us to hear leagues are finally going to be a thing. I remember making a big Word Doc for ESL 1-2 years ago (while I was an ESL Admin), suggesting leagues and how they should work. So to hear we’re getting Leagues inside Guild Wars 2 PvP is one of the best things that could’ve been announced! This was quickly followed up by Curse Entertainment with a bit more in-depth about the announcement on their Youtube channel. I’ll link the specific video below after my feedback! It also makes we wonder why Curse would announce this.. I’m hoping for an Ingame Curse VoIP personally. (despite many ppl are against this, which can be discussed in another thread)
  • Pause scene: The pauses were quite short and had nice background music if you ask me. Made me even wonder if that music is HoT specific music? If so, wow!

Thief God Mode

ANET chose to strip the vast majority of Mesmer defense. Offensive power was also greatly reduced ( 50% Alacrity nerf .)

At the same time they buffed thief auto attack by 30%. This alone would have meant that a thief pulling off a backstab would most likely be able to kill a Mesmer in 1 or 2 moves.

That wasn’t enough though.. ANET added an unblockable bassy venom. This makes the Mesmer shield ( our new weapon ) essentially worthless v. a thief. With the damage increase, a thief can practically kill a Mesmer with a very short combination of button pushes with almost no risk.

I doubt that even shortsighted ANET could have failed to anticipate this situation and it is likely to kick Mesmer right back to trash tier where we languished for years.

So, my question is; “Why do you hate mesmer , ANET?”

Are you taking revenge on a Pro League Mesmer?

Is it office politics at ANET?

Do you simply not want Mesmer in the game?

ANET won’t answer of course, that would require both courage and honesty.

Like, honestly, all I read is “oh no, someone can finally counter/pressure me a bit”..

I would love to see the in-combat running animation changed.

It’s like we’re running with a Hammer.

Would be nice to see us run with the staff holding behind us with 1 hand!

[Feedback] DPS Revenant

Build:

  • S/S Shiro – Hammer Dwarf
  • Marauder
  • Rune of Hoelbrak/Pack
  • Traitlines: Devastation, Retribution & Invocation
  • Solid, high DPS on non-moving target
  • Test took 4 hours dueling and playing (un)ranked, but no Stronghold. Although my feedback will mostly likely stay the same after playing Stronghold with DPS Revenant.

Feedback based on current “meta”:

  • lacks sustain
  • lacks defensive abilities next to 1 block (like all other DPS classes/builds have: Aegis, blocks, invulns, blinds, …)
  • lacks mobility to be a good DPS roamer (outside fights)
  • lacks reliable stunbreaks (unless u take Legend Swap Stun Break Trait)
  • casttime on Healings are too long for a (melee) DPS
  • Dwarf Legend Utility Taunt doesnt always hit (bugged)
  • overal casttimes are too long for a DPS
  • countered by all DPS builds (in Conquest and both 1v1)
  • stuck in same utilities (no chance to take more Stunbreakers)
  • energy start (50%) too low to actually engage full on as DPS

Overal:

  • Nice concept and decent design
  • The ‘ideal’ DPS Revenant is close but needs some rework to be ever viable in PvP as DPS. Having Shiro as one of the legends, it simply needs to be viable in PvP
  • Feels like Ranger; fun for 1v1 but horrible team-utilities and sustain for Conquest. Although even in 1v1, the Revenant has a really low chance to win unless opponents makes tons of mistakes and you bring your A-game.

Revenant Shiro was basically the only reason I pre-purchased HoT for the beta and I’m, sadly, a bit disappointed. However, I do hope with the incoming feedback, you’ll be able to make something out of it
