I am loaded with Condi/Vitality/Toughness for my roamer but I’m wondering if Precision would help damage or is that only for power builds?
Thank you for your help.
Another question I’ve wondered about.. For Sigils that activate on weapon swap, how does this work on an Elementalist? Does it apply when they switch attunements?
I was hoping that was the case otherwise I’d have to shell out a lot of gold to fix the situation.
Tyvm
I have a noob question. If I put Sup Sigil of Force on my off hand weapon and the 2 uses for that weapon are non damage (like block projectiles and a knock back) would the Sigil be wasted? Should I have the Sigil on the mainhand weapon that deals the damage or do I get the 5% boost no matter how the damage is applied?
Similar question, if I put a Sigil on that is only activated on critical hits would that be wasted as well on that off hand weapon?
I went 5-2 last night and was feeling confident going into today. Then i went 2-7 before calling it a day. I should have stopped for the day after two losses but like a gambler, kept thinking my luck would turn around on the next one.
I don’t seem to make much of a difference if I call out instructions (if no one else has) or if I switch classes to help our balance (ANet’s AI is God awful at balancing classes). I kind of give up. I guess I suck and I just need luck on my side so once it goes badly I need to quit sooner.
You feel no need to keep playing, yet apparently felt the need to come announce it on the forums.
He is giving honest feedback which should be appreciated. What he is stating is actually how I feel. I stopped playing after I got the final reward. I admit, I did finally log in and do a few more recently out of boredom but after getting all the rewards and dealing with a faulty system, the motivation is low to none now.
sigh
Please understand the system before you make false remarks.
Win percentage does not dictate rating. Rating is based on who you played when you won or lost. People with high win percentages are either improving or were initially placed lower than they should have been. Players near 50% win percentages are at the correct rating. Players with lower win percentages are ranked too high and are moving down.
Perhaps you don’t understand this yourself.
If 2 guys can go 6-4 in their first 10 matches but end up 500+ points apart on their mmr then something is wrong. At that point the guy who ended up higher could go 3-7 and the lower guy could go 7-3 and you end up with a big difference in W/L but the higher guy is STILL much higher rating wise. So what is the real problem? It’s the initial MMR placement.
It really boils down to how lucky someone is in those first 3-10 matches. I get how the common person doesn’t understand this I just don’t get why the guy running the PvP part of this game doesn’t get it.
tbh that would make things worse. As is you have people stuck in lower divisions based on a faulty initial mmr placement. You are proposing a way for those lucky enough to get good placement to not lose it but ignoring the people who got bad placements from the start.
I think it’s messed up as is and something like this would be even more unfair to those stuck in lower divisions.
I firmly believe luck has a LOT to do with where you are initially placed and it’s pretty hard to move very far from that point.
The best 15% will do well, the bottom 15% will do badly. The middle 70% can end up in random spots and never move far from it.
In short, I totally agree this system is not working.
I think it would work better if everyone started at the same rank and it took awhile to for them to separate, not 10 matches (or actually 3-4 since those first 3-4 swing you the most).
Its easy to get out of if you don’t belong there.
Unless you have actually done this you are just assuming.
Bronze teammates are a big dice roll. You can end up with decent guys who probably don’t belong there or a bunch of newbies who just want the rewards. It feels very difficult to escape the 50/50 in chances.
tired of seeing 3 guardians on 1 team, no guardians on the other and going “yup they will win cuz they have more guards”
its bs, they are op, why can they set traps DURING combat……you should use the gw1 method of setting traps requiring the player to be out of combat
Funny I should see this.. I was just in a match where we had 0 Guardians and there were 3 on the other team. I pointed that out as we started since I felt pessimistic from the start (playing a light armored class that gets destroyed in DM/ToF).
We did, in fact, lose of course.
But what bothers me most is why the system didn’t try to balance the teams more? Why 3 Guardians on one side and 0 on the other. Not that a team needs a guardian to win its just that way you don’t allow them to rotate their traps so someone is always able to lay one down.
They actually had 3 Guardians and 2 Rangers. We were given 1 Rev, 2 Thieves, 1 Warrior and I don’t recall the fifth (def not DH) but I think it was a necro. I was one of the thieves and switched to Ele to give my team more support… and the fact 2 thieves is 1 too much. At that time I didn’t know they had 3 Guardians or I would have asked the other thief to switch since DH’s eat up thieves.
Alrighty then.. that makes 3 wins not showing up under the w/l column.
Can someone take a look and let me know why this is happening? Showing 37-41 w/l but I have 40 wins.
And for the love of God.. if the game is going to miscount how about miscounting some of those losses instead of the wins?
I believe you are mistaken. The correct MMR placement math is:
rand(account_luck)
That is all.
Quoted for Truth
I read somewhere the formula is (previous mmr + 1200)*.5=soft reset rating
Is this correct?
If so, would the following be true-
Very good player- 2000 + 1200 =3200*.5=1600
Average player 1200+1200=2400*.5=1200
New PvP player 0+1200=1200*.5=600
Does this sound about right for determining initial soft reset mmrs?
Hmm, next match after I posted this the same thing happened but it was a different map. Is it possible wins are not counted under certain conditions? Perhaps if the other team has someone who quit or never made it?
But in that case why does the win show everywhere else except under the friends & guild section?
I am now showing 27 wins in that section but overall I have 29 wins. This time though, I do think I got the pips.
Luckily I’ve managed to avoid Skyhammer for the most part but I’ve been in a few since the new release. Last night we won a match and I noticed the win showed up on the left side of the interface panel (league -> friends/guild) but didn’t show up under the w/l. I don’t think I was awarded the pips either but can’t be sure tbh.
I knew my w/l record on my ele before I started the ranked and it checked out, the win shows there but not the w/l section of the interface.
Duo is good for the social aspect but, lets be honest here.. it’s unfair to those of us who only single queue.
I don’t get overly upset about it since I have seen plenty of duo queues that aren’t good and help give my team an easy win but when we play good duos it becomes very obvious. Especially when they are able to communicate on voice chat. That ability to instantly communicate without stopping to type is a HUGE advantage.
“The Invincible Ele Meta is back”
I must not be playing my ele correctly :P
If the other team ignores me in a group fight then I can do what I was meant to do, offer support and healing and appear invincible.
However, I find myself either being focused, caught up in DH traps, CC’d or CC’d and destroyed by a thief etc..
The last pvp reward can be repeated as much as you want.
I had some guild mates tell me that the ascended shards won’t be rewarded on the repeats of the last chest. They said they saw this posted somewhere, anyone know for sure?
3 class that melts DH easily.
1. druid
2. thief
3. revif u dont believe it just look at top 20 NA. full of thief and revs
Thief dies to a DH in seconds, actually DH hardcounters thief
This is one reason I stopped playing my thief. Seems there is at least one DH, if not more, in every team I face. Dragon’s Maw + Test of Faith = Dead thief. Even on my ele it hurts, I’ve blinked out and just been pulled back in.
The only good DH is the one on MY team.
If you basically started at Legendary how can it “feel prestigious to earn it”?
This system is abysmal if you don’t ace your placement matches. Nothing but casuals looking to farm pips regardless of win/lose. Not even remotely competitive play.
But hey, at least 250 players get to have fun…
“lulz just git gud! quit being a sore loser” Is what i’m sure someone is going to tell you, but not me because i am currently stuck in the joke that is bronze divistion, with absolutely no way of escaping!
I’m in the same boat. Lost my first 3 matches which is apparently the most important three matches you will ever play regarding your score. I went 4-3 after that to finish 4-6 and got stuck in bronze at 954.
Recently I won 7 games straight and managed to go up a whooping 80-85 points. I figure at that rate if I win the next 40 straight I might make it to 1500.
Good thing I was mostly after the ascended armor or this would be unbearable. But.. it would have been nice to not have my score decided so early based on (un)luck of the draw my first three matches.
We are tracking these bugs.
Thank you for acknowledging. I was beginning to worry when I saw no official response on this subject.
I would think the new armor would be pointless without the infusion slot. Like others, I’d like it for the WvW infusion, idgaf about agony infusions.
I have yet to see ANet comment on this so I’m starting to think its as intended which makes a bit sad. I was going to grind for this armor for my main WvW toon but it would be pointless without that infusion slot.
No infusion slots for the new pvp ascended armor?
Woah.. if thats the case I’ll stop the grind immediately. I’m not going to grind for shards for armor that is barely better than exotic if it doesn’t have the extra perks.
I remember playing LoTR eons ago (before it switched from subs) and it had integrated. It was especially useful when hooking up with PUGs to do story line events.
I know it would be some work for the developers but it would take the game up another level.
I can’t recall a single stronghold game where I didn’t pvp during the match.
I would like SH added for variety but it’s no biggie to me but I find it strange that I’ve seen people mention that players don’t face off in SH’s. We must be playing completely different games.
My first 10 matches were interesting, ended up 4-6. I figured in some of those cases I was playing out of my league and was looking forward to getting my ‘lower’ rating to have more competitive matches.
However.. after I got my rating I went on to lose 5 straight which was depressing
At this point I was really questioning how this whole thing worked. I did go 4-2 after that before calling it a night and felt a little better about it.
Still way too early to judge this but hopefully when I play again I can run closer to a break even w/l and continue to learn and improve.
I like the fact we can still earn the tickets/shards for the cool stuff regardless of how much we (I) suck. I think this is good for the game mode in the long run because it will keep more people playing. More people is always good for any game mode.
Is there an advantage or gain to be had by running through the LW stories on different characters or is it mostly for the storyline and intro to new areas making running it on Alts pointless?
I find it annoying as well. I have the bar maxed for it and need 4 more mastery points but I haven ’t bothered to try. I am mostly doing WvW anyways and I have that auto loot unlocked.
I have 6 max characters and an additional 300 tomes of knowledge in the bank from WvW. I get way more of those than I need just from running around and having fun.
They seem to come pretty easy to me.
I’m not overly attached to my world so moving wouldn’t bother me if it helped create more balanced gameplay.
I am not sure if it’s possible but if you blow up worlds would you be able to keep guilds together? I think quite a few would be more apt to like it as long as they can stay in the same world as their guild.
I find it funny you complain about Mag. All they have is numbers. They outnumbered us last night and even spawn camped us (or at least tried lol). They are so squishy that 5 go down when I jump in with wings of resolve lol. It is all about how you fight them too. They had 3 decent size groups split off from their main zerg. We took out two of the groups with like 20-30 peeps. Then YB pushed from behind and we wiped. So as you can see without their numbers they really do suck!
I distinctly remember Mag attacking the keep while FA (or maybe it was certain guilds, don’t want to blame the whole server) camped the spawn point and wouldn’t left YB back in the keep. I wouldn’t expect much love from YB after that. At that point it felt like a double team. But again, it may just have been a few select guilds helping Mag out.
Game crashing for me as well.
I get 2 error reports almost immediately and if I ignore them I get a third and the game stops working.
That is assuming i can even get into the game.
It only started today.
If they can’t figure out a way to stop cheaters/bored kids from wasting them then I agree 100% it should be removed.
In some cases I’m sure it’s a new guy but after you play WvW a bit you realize quickly that there are people with WAY too much time on their hands and take this game WAY too seriously lol.. they’ll do anything for an advantage for their server including things that go against the spirit of the game.
“If YB is winning the T1 matchup, they need to remain in T1. They would demolish T2 at this point. 75 might actually be too low in this case.”
-Agreed
Re: ppt tactics and k/d ratios, look beyond just the numbers. The K/D is a result of the tactics, not the ability of the server to play blob vs blob and bagging their way to a win.
I would be more specific on why servers lose to YB but have higher K/D numbers but then I may be giving away useful information. If they feel K/D > score then let them have their fun. If they decide to try to win then let them figure out what they are doing wrong and it’s not as simple as ppt and recapping
I like how the WvW is setup but I’ve always thought the best pvp game I ever played was one many years ago (I believe it’s still around) but only because of the risk/reward of it. The game itself wasn’t great but when you went in the ‘wild’ you could lose weapons/armor/inventory. If you weren’t careful you would respawn only with your birthday suit on after being killed.
Back in the day (before I gave up the drinking) I’d put on some music, toss a 12 pack in the cooler and head solo into the ‘wild’ and get my pvp on. Groups were great too if you were in some sort of chat (like ts).
Getting back to the topic, I don’t think that can be added here but I wish there was some way to create an area where the serious minded pvp players can go and risk everything to potentially walk away with great rewards. You haven’t pvp’d until you pvp like that.
I am a WvW noob but I have played my druid on my server and not heard a single complaint. My server is curb stomping the other two at the moment (Yak’s Bend). From what I see the domination has a lot less to do with what classes are being played and more to do with the leadership knowing how to win. These guys are kitten good and seem able to work with any group.
Although I’m sure they are happier to see some more zerg friendly classes I’ve yet to hear a single complaint on class choices in map chat or ts.
