There will never be just one server for a region. Likely, there is not enough population for six to nine servers. Any fewer, and there would be no WvW, and very long queues.
It don’t have to be servers dude.
For years everyone’s asked this question.
For years this question been merged with a 3 year old post and discarded.
But now, with me being a more active PvP member I’ve had to put my foot down.
We need an OCE/OCX server(s) or an equivalent.
I don’t wanna be playing PvP and having a fun, close match only to DC despite my internet being 100% fine and only being able to reconnect as the enemies score ticks over from 499 to 500…
I cannot believe that 4 years after launch an entire continent is still bared of from having an optimal and enjoyable experience in a game run by a western company, Shocking.
Sorry I had to sound so whinny, but something has to be done.
PvX Thief main here.
Increase base HP pool by 2,000
- We are too squishy.
If Trick Shot hits 3 opponents, Remove a condition.
-With the addition of HoT condition inflation has gone too far and needs to be stopped.
Increase base Trick Shot damage (By quite a lot).
- Short bow needs more love in PvP since it has extremely low damage (which I’ve found out via PvE) and offers little survivability as skill 3 is unreliable and skill 5 is for escapes.
Essentially Short bow is rarely used anywhere except for mobility with skill 5 and cluster bomb spam which is boring.
Surprise Shot also bounces between enemies, aka it allowing thief’s to Immobilize up to 3 enemies.
- Just a little flavor buff I suppose
I can go on for ages about this stuff but no one can deny teefs are probably the worst class in the current meta, little showing in raids but that’s about it.
Would not mind if they added the crowbars, chak acid, exalted keys and machetes to the wallet as currencies.
As well as the blood rubies, and the much requested keyring for zephyrite lockpicks, bandit keys, etc. And also a ‘book’ (better name is needed) for all the notes and books we now have/get.
And to OP’s 2), I actually like how it looks, I think it’s a fitting color and not at all a disgusting color.
Totally agree about the books, got so many I don’t want to throw away like the Chuka and Champawat books and the Bloodstone Fen books. Need a panel for them in the Hero Panel called “Lore” or something imo.
I don’t mind the way the UI looks personally, but I would love to see it scale with screen resolution or have more size options. Because there are fixed sizes, it becomes unreadable at 4k resolution.
Yea my idea was just 100% customization of the UI but I got a little carried away with what I personally wanted.

Yea I was going to add this into my original post but I was too tired to. Only thing really is that it doesn’t really act like currency, maybe another button next to the wallet named “Tool belt” or something and that it uses a similar thing my 1 pick does where when you use a crowbar or exalted key a little number with the icon of the item appears next to it and it does a little “-1” indicating you used it.
So now that we know Arenanet is actually looking at player suggestions and implementing them in game I thought I’d throw some out there. Feel free to comment below what you think should be added as well!
1 )
On screen currency calculations.
So Instead of getting 3 increments of “Unbound Magic +3” next to your mini-map feeding away at nothing, it will instead be feeding into a counter. So just as a “Unbound Magic +3” box thingy is about to disappear it adds to the total count of the ones you already have in a little box on screen.
For example. say i have 1000 Unbound Magic already in my account wallet and I just acquired 3 blue orb thing’s giving my 3 lots of “+3 Unbound Magic”, they will list away as usual but just as they are about to disappear, a little box showing the Unbound Magic icon and a 1000 digit next to it appears and will show a little “+3” animation adding it to the total. It will register it when the box disappears as I feel like its easier to follow.
I feel like this is a lot faster to indicated how much currency you actually have so that it cuts out searching for it in your wallet, which is a hassle when you are running a low end PC and high latency while also zerging it up.

Cleaner UI Toggle and/or Custom UI’s
I may have mentioned this somewhere before but I feel like the painterly feel of the UI is a bit dated, the brown inventories and hero panels with the disgusting brown smudge behind the skills panel at the bottom need to be fixed.
Something I’ve loved about this game in recent years is every time there is a new window added in the game like Fractal Select or Raid Select its black instead of brown.
I’d personally like to make all my UI panels a dark blue or black while also making it opaque (not items, just the background) while also clearing up the smudge behind the skills.
I had more but I don’t want this to drag and these 2 I feel like are the most likely to be added or well received. Also grammar is pretty bad but I dopnt care its late.

When you do a Jormag xpack and add a norn based rev legend please for the love of Dwayna make it Jora and NOT Eir. That is all.
So with me extremely happy with the spring quarterly update I thought it would be great to give my opinion on some changes and additions that I thing would add value to the core game. These are some ideas and balancing notes I’ve accumulated over the course of about a year that I would love some feedback on (mainly from devs, just so I can know more about game design eg where I’m going wrong)
Questing / Request Board (Small scale content)
This first idea might seem like me begging or bringing up un-guild-wars-2 like topics but I’m really not, yes I called it “Quests” but I’ve grown akin to calling them “Requests” and only really share a base principle. I pretty much got this idea from legendary scavenger hunts, (I refined this part today) more specifically the Chuka and Champawat hunt one.
The general idea is that under the Hero panel there will be a tab labelled “Request Board” (or maybe even “Quests” if the devs are feeling brave) that has a list of miscellaneous request from various NPC’s that require or need something done by the player around the world similar to a scavenger hunt. Each “request” or “quest” will take about 25 mins toan hour to complete and reward a decently heavy reward on first completion and will yield no rewards on subsequent completions, they will also only yield rewards again after they have “reset” at given intervals I have yet to decide on (around 1-3 months as a quick estimate). I have also not though up a reward but after observing the spring quarterly update’s dev AMA it seems you are looking for a way to obtain leather and cloth so maybe that? or just flat gold.
Maybe (if possible) add a team of around 3-6 people working on these sorts of things and release them at each quarter update in batches of 5+? (Educate me of this, devs)
Balancing
I’m not going to sit here and act like I’m a pro and every profession so I’m just going to say the blatantly obvious one. (the other obvious one that I am not mentioning (Druid) is a profession I know nearly nothing about so I will not cover)
Revenant
This proffesion is OP, they have the best Offensive weapon skill in the game (Sword 3 – Tones of damage on multiple targets, warp/blink/gap closer + untargetable) as well as the most OP Heal skill in the game, Infused Light. Here’s what you do;
Make Unrelenting Assault only able to hit an enemy once, if there are 5 enemies, hit each enemy ONCE, if there are 1 enemy, hit that enemy ONCE as well. The untargetable aspect of the skill coupled with the fact its a gap closer is good enough as is (This skill is pretty much Master Yi’s “q” from league of legends, but it works well).
Infuse Light is something I feel like is over looked, while it does have counter play on it by looking at it from face value, the revenant can turn it around and de-value said counter and re-counter it again while also getting the same if not more value out of it. Here is an explanation. Say there are 2 enemies on a PvP point, a Rev and an Ele and that your team has a Mesmer and a Thief. If the mes and the thief focus their fire on the rev and the rev uses Infuse Light this immediately causes the mes and thief to disengage and instead focus fire on the Ele (this being the devs definition of counter play) and while this is considered the “right” move, still has its draw backs. The rev can re counter that move by standing on top of or in front of the Ele soaking up the damage with her (all Ele’s are female) and healing her anyway, if the mes and teef disengage yet again they will be wasting time and will have forced the ele and rev to go on the heavy offensive and pretty much sweep the floor with them as teef and Mesmer are built on surviveability through offence. This obviously, is bad. To fix Infuse Light simply do this, add an initial heal on the skill of 1000 and make it so the rev can only heal up to a certain threshold (say around 6000 total healthaka 7000 Total w/o Healing Power). The option that remains is this, when the rev reaches said threshold, will the skill drop or will it keep active and act as an invuln? There are defiantly other things to tweak but these 2 are the most important ones (IMO)
Sorry I singled out Rev.
Burning Nerfs
Each condition has unique effects associated with it.
Poison = Small Damage + Healing Reduction
Bleed = Accessibility (All/Most Professions) + Medium Damage
Torment = Increased Damage on Moving Targets
Burning = Accessibility and Inaccessibility (High accessibility on a few Professions but little to none of a lot of others) + HIGH Damage
As you can see here, Burning is stupid, and here is what I would do. (Emphasis on I)
Make burning a condition that starts off doing low damage (pretty much poison level) but will do increased damage per tick, eventually surpassing its current damage (at around an estimated 4 ticks)
This means in PvE (where Condition Duration is a factor in popular raid gear) it will receive a buff while in PvP (Where condition removal is key/plenty) it will be nerfed.
That’s all I have time for but I’ll add more in a few hours.
It would be great if fellow players could add and improve my ideas or maybe even discus why these changes wont work. Lets get a read discussion going on in here.

1. They only allow for Display name changes if the name violates the TOS or is your real legal name. Neither case appears to apply so you can’t change your display name.
2. Contact support to get your log in email changed.
3. If it’s available and has enough characters in it I don’t think that would be a problem.
3.5. There is no reserving of names by ANet anymore. They did for a time reserve names for GW1 players who pre-purchased GW2, but those names that were reserved but not used have been released for public usage. You can however create a dummy character with that name and reserve it for yourself. You have 24 hours after you delete that character to remake it and guarantee being able to get that name.

3) Can only make character name if not take by some other player. If available then can.
3.5) No Anet do not save name for anyone. If want name take it. If you do not and some other player take it you will not get name.

Hello arenanet! 
Its a popular/common practice for twitter users to request taken names that are currently inactive so that they can use them in order for the name see actual use again (in order to avoid future users to riddle their names with numbers) and it got me wonder if that was possible for this game. Because of this I want to ask some questions (not expecting them to be met) regarding my account.
1 ) Can I change my display name (eg; TheShyGuyTheory.2849) – Sent in request/ticket under support.
2 ) Can I change my login email. (Changing the email in the settings only changes my contact address) My current one is unused and has been for 3 years or so and is a bit embarrassing as I made it when I was 9. – Sent in request/ticket under support.
3 ) Can I have the character name “Shy” (IF available)
3.5 ) Is it possible for you guys to set aside the name for my account use only? (Reserve it)
I’ve gone under a bit of re-branding since I’m not a stupid kid anymore so I want to “move on” so-to speak. :P

Ahaha, so my mate wanted to play this game again after a long hiatus and as he was downloading it and having trouble with his account, i noticed that he is already logged in and is somewhere in DR, shocked, he resets the password before I notice that someone is already logged in and has been using his account in Korea (we are from New Zealand). When he finally finishes the download and is satisfied with his new password, he finds out that his account has been “terminated” aka banned and is now furious LOL, wanna give a shout out to Arenanet. was a laugh.

That is my point, why should i change class when they should all be balanced…
someone on your team should have an unblockable cc. ideally team fight, or 2v2 & have them use it. or else just swap a skill out if you want to shrek revs (because I promise you, you can just kill them because they are so low when then shield block).
i know it seems unreasonable to expect a premade, or at least a duo- buy
this is an mmo. but not just an mmo, but a highly complicated competitive team based game. the amount of benefit cooperation has in a game like gw2 has is impossible to understate.for example; you play in a duo. you friends uses an unblockable cc (phase traversal > drop the hammer) & you kill the enemy revant with your burst. easy.
remember, in a team game you dont just have your skills available, you have those of your teammates too.
I don’t have a problem with the unblocable part of the skill, Its the healing that ruins it, Healing should be reserved for Staff and Ventari.
Gw2 pvp is not balanced around 1v1. So if you have a problem with someone holding a point that you cant kill, bring a friend or go to another point. If everyone can beat everyone in 1v1 there should not be any classes at all.
So have good strat and forget the 1v1 if you dont have a anti or good 1v1 class.
I am also aware of this, as a theory crafter i frequently subtract these sorts of things from equations, all of my listed points are technical, these problems shouldn’t exist as a whole.

Edit 2; I do believe though that if 2 people of equal skill levels clash on two separate professions that there is an equal chance of either one winning.

Ive already established my builds are not at fault as I’m far from inexperienced, I play a chronomancer, tempest, dragonhunter, herald, reaper and I do fine, 100% win rate right now actually. But when I go and play my best class… negative win ratio. PvP is unbalanced atm and you cannot argue that.
PvP has to be the most balanced i’ve seen for a really long time. There are two classes that are having issues, but at least PvP is not dominated by 2-3 builds anymore. Metabattle used to have what, 3-4 builds considered meta, while there is 7 right now and I wouldn’t be suprised to see more coming. It’s like everyone forgot when sPvP was dominated by D/D eles or Hambow Warriors.
Missing the entire point here. You are not justifying the issues, just moving them aside.
A third of your points are l2p issues, the other third is you ranting because your old builds dont work anymore, the last 3rd doesnt even make sense. Reaper poison application? changing the burning formula?
Also, personnal score is irrelevant, wins are. And Stronghold is a PvP map for casuals, it shouldnt even be considered in any serious pvp conversation.

To clarify, I am not using old builds, Having a high score compared to the rest of your team can earn you a pip even though you lost, so personal score is important, Necromancers have given me upwards of 15 poison on me at once, Burning is stupid atm, each damage condition has their own diversified aspect except burning.

Explain then, this is a forum after all.
What I am about to tell you is not an exaggeration. It can be verified by looking at the websites that record meta builds (based on Twitch feeds) and the ESL Pro League builds for this season…
It comes it down to this: The old core pvp builds that defined the game (D/D ele, PU Mesmer, Hammer Warrior, DPS Med Guard) they are all obsolete.
You can not play sPvP in GW2 using your old favorite build that (the one you trained on for months that took ANet two years to balance properly).
The new norm is high condi pressure combined with interrupts and immobilizing attacks. At a certain level it has become a game of "whoever gets the first hit and begins the chain/rotation to codi/immob/interrupt wins. At that point skill goes out the window and luck becomes the primary catalyst for the win.
When a game turns into that people stop watching and people stop playing.
I’m fully aware of the meta shift, I am a frequent metabattle editor and a pretty good thief theory crafter, I have thousands of hours on thief and i know how to clear conditions using every trait and skill available and am still unable to keep up, for example.
Edit: also like you said with the new meta being condi and interrupts, this still leaves professions that cannot do this as well as the rest obsolete. Guild Wars 2 used to be a game where pvp was balanced profession wise and now it is not.

A returning PvPer thanks to the new league system, I’ve noticed some BS things as of late.
1) First of all, how the kitten are Revs so tanky, at first I just thought my team was being lazy as he could tank 3v1 no problem but nope, this happened at least 10 times today alone. Nerf Glint Shield.
2) With the new elite specs, the Condi Application to Condi Removal ratio is way off, i do my best to clear them with everything I have and am still unable to clear them all, even if I do they just get re applied anyway.
3) There is still an issue with some play styles which means we get left in the dust player score wise, a bunker or anyone keeping busy 2 or more people can be a very important thing sometimes and I have seen these 2 plays impact a game tremendously but due to the way score is distributed this leaves you at the bottom of the leader board and due to score being semi important now with the leagues, its kinda unfair. Not to mention people have yelled at me for being 20 or 30 points under the second lowest even though I’ve been 1v2 or 1v3ing for a few minuets and they still manage to loose 2 points… (this one was kinda personal)
4) Why is burning still a flat damage condi that is just an upgraded bleed? why cant it be a condition that starts of doing low damage, (around poison or lower) and then with every tick progressively gets more intense (like real fire) to a point where it does the same damage as it is now (say at around 5 ticks)
5) Elementalists can still do everything, especially in PvP where it can either do Power or Condi damage and still out sustain most/all other professions.
6) Trap Dragon Hunters have no counters when it comes to squishy professions.
7) I think Daredevils, Berserkers, Scrappers, Druids and even Reapers are balanced but only if poison application on reaper is decreased.
Maybe make reaper shroud 4 only a 20% – 40% chance to actually count as a whirl, just like how Unload on the thief is only a 20% chance to count as a projectile and half the overall poison on it from 12 to 6. (8 max I’d say)
8) Stronghold requires too much communication for pugs to play it to a point where it is fun, its just a game mode where the team with the luckiest team wins, and by luck i mean the correct defense to offensive ratio when it comes to what people want to do. Because lets face it, as soon as you order or ask someone to go somewhere or to do something, you get called out and all of a sudden you are a bad person…

9) Despite leagues being implemented to improve matchmaking, I still get paired up againsed 3 emeralds and 2 amber’s when our team only had 5 amber’s, why not split them up and give us some of the emeralds?

There’s a bug when using movement skills like Shadowstep and the Dash dodge ability Daredevils where when it ends, your character would be locked in place and unable to move, only able to jump, the only way ive been able to fix this is dodging and returning to my original shadowstep position. Its very annoying in PvP.
Edit: So i was versing a condi mesmer than i was completely destroying but all of a sudden i couldn’t move, its not my keyboards fault cuz i type in chat to make sure but yet im still unable to move, i had to sit there for a few minuets (no exaggeration) while a clone was attacking me as the mesmer refused to do so as it was “amusing” smh….

Backstory
So a little back story, when the boss reaches 20% or 25% HP he goes invulnerable and you have to break his break bar, however all 4 party members died with the exception of the instance owner, a necro with very few CC. She then spent the next 40 mins to an HOUR using nothing but life steal to witle the boss down to 0 hp, before encountering the bug, by this stage all other team mates have left and it was just us 2.
Solution
The solution is this, the finish button isnt tied to the body, its still sitting towards the back of the platform where he originally spawned. just go over there and Boom, you should have completed it.

Very quick question, are there going to be any new Sigils or Runes being added into the game?
I mean, have we never mmo before? This is probably the most common QQ of all games with a pvp element. If they could “just fix it” I’m sure it would be done. As an avid pvp player, I’m tired of these threads. I can only imagine how exhausting the same exact complaint, day after day, all from people ‘who don’t rant, but here goes…". If you want to play gw2 and win every fight every time so it’s ‘balanced’ in your private universe, may I invite you to explore the vast pve options offered.
Did you ever stop and think that perhaps the issue of your losing streaks has less to do with anet, and more to do with your gameplay? I’m willing to bet using burn at all is considered ‘cheese build’ to you too.
1) Yes it is a common issue in mmo’s, but how does the exclude the fact this needs to be addressed?
2) I don’t want to win every fight, i loose all the time and i don’t get mad, they were great games, but pairing me with tiger and deer ranks is too absurd, come on now…
3) I highly doubt its my gameplay, i am a team player, i gladly stop what I’m doing to help out and play the objective, don’t judge my skill over the forums though lol…
Usually I hate it when people come up with ideas that drastically change the idea of something, but I feel like this is almost a must and essential, i think there should be an option above your initiative or dodge meter to change what dodge you have on, and not tie it to the traits/specialization line…..
Actually, why don’t you nerf all of the dodges and make the grand masters buff them?
I tried thinking of an example but couldn’t think of any, thoughts?
(The dodge nerf – tie the buffs to grand masters is an optional idea that dosnt have to be implemented but i still think the choice should be on the skill bar not the traits…)

make new Game modes that isnt all about king of the hill cap point system like most maps currently are..

Ok so you guys probably get this a lot but lets be real, the reason people comment it on forums are so the problem gets fixed and its not. I have put up with high ping and latency issues as i was fortunate enough to live in an oceanic reagion but i would rather settle the match making issues first, its that bad.
Here are 2 scenarios that I had to deal with just today.
2 Allies Mid (me), 3 Enemies. – Neutral Point
2 Enemies Home, 1 Ally. – Neutral Point
1 Ally Far – Friendly Caped
1 Ally Respawns, Runs Far.
…………………………. I am not joking, he ran all the way to far and sat their with him. I didn’t want to sound toxic but i lost my s**t and told him that you shouldn’t do that, he raged at me, told me to go play ranked. So i did.

5 Pugs Vs 5 man guild team…
Whhh—— whyyyyY?! just balance it out, even league of legends has a better system than this, they make sure the teams are mirrored in terms of party queues, if you queue up with a 3 man party, your going to verse a 3 man party, and if the other 2 people in your team are pugs so will they, why is our system so bad? it simply is just terrible…
I know someone would have commented “but dude, a ranking system is coming with heart of thorns, wait it out”, yea sure I’m aware, but c’mon i want to play the game now not in 2.5 weeks….
Also, i dont see how i am in the wrong at all, why should I be punished? even the noobie under ranked/skilled pugs are suffering, how are they supposed to win? if they keep loosing they will get mad and stop playing simple as that…

Why the daredevil traitline? I think shadow arts would be better.
It’s bad in PVE and PVP though. Hardly cleave.
The Deadly Arts line provides outstanding condi damage with Potent poison, trickery gives you the extra initiative, caltrops on dodge, torment on interrupt and interrupts on steal and daredevil decreases Impairing daggers cooldown significantly, gives you the upgraded dodge that helps boost your survivability as you don’t have much stealth.
Shadow arts is good for stealth based thief’s, this has hardly any.
As for “Its bad in PvP and PvP”, it totaly is not, in dungons when you are stacking, dodging into the walls provides loads of bleeds from the caltrops as well as spaming shortbow 2 and 4.
It works wonders in the raid to due to all the blue orbs as they cant really touch you as your dodging around things too fast.
I rekt in pvp too so, meh just you?

The current UI with all that painterly stuff is so outdated, it screams 2007 and to be honest, this game would be 100% better if you made it more modern…

Experience with thief:
1.4k Hours on thief an counting, Use mainly D/P Crit Strike Meta build in WvW but sometimes I use a full zerk 6/2/0/0/6 or 6/2/0/6/0 build with P/D.
In PvP i mainly run Panic, Crit or P/D Celestial as they are the most effective, the cele one is my favorite.
I dont really enjoy S/D or S/P but i do use it from time to time, usually running 2/6/0/6/0 with full signets and might on signet use trait for 20 stacks of might + power of inertia for a full 25 might. its actually suprisingly decent with the assassin signet active.
I have 2 legendary’s dedicated to it, Quip and Incinerator and have full ascended weapons (zerk Sword, a second zerk dagger, a second zerk pistol, zerk shortbow, rabid shortbow)
I have a condi/rabid set on me at all times with adventurer runes, a Valkyrie set for hight level fractals and a bit of hp in wvw (with eagle runes) and a zerk set with scholar runes.
I have full ascended trinkets (zerk) including back piece.
Not really sure what forum thread to post this in, but here in New Zealand and most likely Australia too, we get from around 150 – 300 average ping, 24/7.
Its not super noticeable, but it severely hurts us when it comes to combat in WvW and PvP, we are on a delay that means we cant act and react better which is the worst thing ever if your opponent that kills you mocks, jumps on your body and kitten talks you through whispers when you know for a fact you woulda whooped his kitten .
I don’t know much about servers but if there’s a way to make this more bearable for us please proceed in doing so, without making our own server.

I sold 3 of my favorite CS:GO skins for $23 on Steam just to buy guild wars 1, spend a few hours trying to get it to work, 5 hours playing it and then a few more hours trying to link it up with my own GW2 account.
Its currently not working and I’m 100% certain that its not related to me and that its just broken, pls fix… I want that Heritage Armor so bad…
