I noticed you put 5 on illusions while having Dom-X and Duel-IV. You don’t need the extra points there because the weapon cooldown traits you got already reduced both gs and sw phantasms. you probably would want to transfer that somewhere else, or change the wep CD traits instead.
-10 Chaos, +10 illusions for XI Illusionary Persona, or 25 Dueling Confusing Combatants. if you like your chaos try illusionary defense.

Asuras are small. But they are easy to find.
@Mice: because the racial skills of asura does not fit mesmers. Hounds of Balthazar is probably the best racial elite for condition damage because of the burning. Another reason why I regret being asura is because my greatsword auto animation does not levitate. Also, humans or norn females are eyecandies.
I’m asura and I’m regretting it.
Skillcap of mesmers aer higher than other classes. Except ofc the phantasm build.
for defensive purposes, use knights (phantasm) and apothecary (shatter/immortal builds).
It seems you like pointless Q_Q threads here at mesmer forums
Don’t forget manipulation range trait, and cooldown. Blink is also manipulation so it will benefit from those as well.
And do not forget it steals the three leftmost boons on the enemy, so if you want to steal stability on a guardian or ele, keep an eye on their boons before activating.
Additionally, the bounce doesn’t quite work like that. In my testing, I was able to get it to bounce from 1 enemy to myself, and that’s it. I couldn’t get it to even touch more than 2 targets.
confirmed. bounce only affects an ally after initial hit. doesnt bounce to nearby enemies
Looks a lot like a shatter cat build
You’re phantasm build. try using “arcane theivery” and “phantasmal disenchanter” utilities. for you it will have a 16 second cooldown.
If you’re still too worried about it, use runes of melandru for -25% condition damage duration.
I see where your problem is.
I’ve played a mesmer(zerk) and nothing compares to what another class can bring. usefull.
Mesmers are the best at what theyre built to do. If you’re playing zerk mesmer then you’re playing dps build, and naturally won’t do as well as other class in terms of bunkering or support.
However if you spec into certain traits, it becomes amazing. You won’t get much use of your glamors unless you trait into it. Like glamours, which becomes individual weapons by itself if traited properly, which includes veil. Diversion and other shatters can do aoe 25 vuln stacks if you trait it as well. Traited focus skills reflect projectiles which you can spam along with feedback.
And any decent player, regardless of what class, knows time warp is the best team Elite skill (better than warbanner imo).
I say mesmers are on par with anything other classes can do, if not better. Although its a shame mesmers cant do shouts. I’d replace all my signets for that.
Yes. I’ll do some testing tonight along with some other damage tests. I’ll post it tom
By default I use Blink, and 2 other utils depending on build.
Solo roam phantasm : Decoy, Disenchanter, Mass Invis
Group phantasm: Null field, Arcane thievery, Time Warp
Shattercat: Mirror Images, Arcane thievery, Mass invis
Glamor: Veil, Feedback, Null field, Time warp
You’d want to consider rune of the air for extra swiftness. The crit damage you will get from it is also good, and the 6set bonus is no joke.
blurred frenzy at the start of a summon and then summon on top of them. They do not get the summon off. Blinds as well, anything to stop that summoning. if you can lose LoS and summon on them in stealth, you can totally counter this build.
I’m not pyro but lets duel soon?
Im at kaineng.
Read Heart’s Blood by juliet marriller.
Imo toughness as a phantasm build are sort of like training wheels (rather like using Knight’s amulet). In the future you’ll find that you really wouldn’t need much traits on Chaos to survive as a phantasmer/shatterrer, and would allocate it to other trait lines for more damage or functionality
@jportell: I think you got it backwards
There’s a couple of misconceptions I found on the podcast.
First, boons are not transferred into your phantasms, so fury-increased crit chance does not stack with phantasm’s fury boons.

The only stat that have real diminishing returns in PVE gear is crit damage.

This is, however, relative to stat-effective itemization for cond/survivability in relation to raw dps. I.e. if you want to lose crit damage to stack on more condition damage or vit/tough. Builds with inherently high cond damge and crit might benefit more by replacing some berserker armor with Rampager on certain pieces for increased bleed/confusion damage which would scale better than crit damage (i.e. shatter cat builds)
http://www.suburbanlion.com/?p=387 can give a relatively good benchmark for Phantasm Coefficients. It also talks a bit more about the Sharp Images trait.

I’ll test this tommorrow.
iWarden is a whirl finisher and is a useful tool in propagating confusion, especially on condition damage/glamor builds.
so.. time warp/glamor fields+iWarden = confusion on hit.
“Epinny” asuran mesmer. From a character in a novel that sees her loved ones as hallucination. I thought it was appropriate
any recommendations on a glamour build that uses the GS?
Get a rabid gs with S. rune of corruption.
I suppose I haven’t been paying attention to the changelogs enough for it, but yeah I get how you feel. I know someone who quit gw2 when they introduced los for p.zerker. I’ll try giving this another shot tonight and just annoy people off points
I’d like to point out that to make confusion reliable, sticking to the target is essential.
check ollonais’ vid here I think he is running something somewhat similar. (with 10 dom, 10 ins for III Vigorous Revelation: vigor on shatter)

Melee attacks are always more reliable than projectiles. Melee attacks that mesmers can do at 1200 range is just plain stupid, especially in the past where we did not need line of sight for it. There is no blocking it; it can’t be reflected, its a whirl finisher and its an aoe attack… So there are your reasons for why it gets nerfed, but despite all that its still the strongest weapon set. Obstacles makes duelist rather kitten if used properly, but berserkers simply run around it.
Maybe its just me but I like the playstyle where I can have a different rythym to use when I switch weapons. Greatsword gives me exactly that. Also, I prefer to fight pistol mesmers than greatsword simply because you can predict their movement will be localised around the duelist (especially if there are also active swordsmen). Blurred frenzy at that area and a gs rotation will most certainly destroy their phantasms. I guess what I’m saying is, it takes a mesmer to defeat a mesmer.
edit: note that a lot of ranged attacks are ranged multi hits.
(edited by Thorment.7945)
these are my 2 cents here: personally i prefer using gs over scepter/sw simply because it is more reliable: pets, illusions, minions or even rock dogs will block the ranged shots of the phantasmal duelist. the phantasmal berserker insta-spawns directly next to the target when casted and is an aoe making it effective against strafing opponents. Additionally, blind can be easily removed using gs autoattack.
A limitation of the sw/scepter blocks are multi-hit attacks. I’ve had problems fighting hammer, mace/shield wars before using this build. Decoy, bf, and blink can only do so much against good kd/daze builds.
@Reven: yeah this build needs more condition removal. like wookie said, disenchanter, null field and AThievery are good alternatives to replace the signet with. In group fights disenchanters are the better choice because it gets the benefit from traits (recharge and hp). I use both disenchanter and AT as I find I can survive most tpvp situations with one blink and blurred frenzy.
As for stealth….a smart thief should know how to deal with 3 spawned phantasms: run away.

humans are far more superior than asura in terms of racial skills, and armor sexiness. not sure why you would want charr though.
