They are cleary not taking the WvW community seriously.
WvW community is one the biggest. Just compare the number of post made in this section compared to sPvP or any other PvE section.
However their lack of actual improvement in regards to WvW is slowly killing WvW. More and more player are leaving each days.
How hard is it to put a ranking system ? Where are the class balance for WvW ?
Granted adding WvW armor set or any other content can take time but they are plenty of other things that they could have done in that time.
They removed stealth capping ONLY today. The issue was reported a long time ago.
In the mean time, sPvP got a new map which I am quite sure no one could care less about.
Instead they keep throwing empty word at us that they gonna improve things and implement this and that for WvW. But have not seen any action yet !
February is WAY too far.
There is no need for an other MMO for people to quit. People are stopping even if there is nothing else. I saw lot of people going back to WoW which they despise only because GW2 is not showing any improvement in WvW and they rather PvE in a good old fashion game than WvW in the current state.
5 man squad is wrong (cannot handle zerg). 10 man squad is the “DAoC” formation !
Cloak and dagger perma invis build seems better to me.
They are two issue with rogue mechanic :
- anti-stealth not appearing between stealth (only if you attack). They should make it happen even out of combat (like they did with ranger pet)
- a class with no cooldown. That’s probably the root of all problem. That’s like WTF, we got a great idea, let’s make a class with no cooldown but energy management. Didn’t they ever realise that powerfull skill would be spammed ? They should at least add cool down on some of the thief weapon skill. You cannot balance without cool down.
What happened to all the French Canadians?
As I see it, the only language without a significant overseas population are the Germans.
There was only 1 canadian guild on AS for 2 weeks but they want back to NA.
Also, Europe spans on 4 TZ and there wasn’t any major problem before that, sure Russian (most being GMT+3 since “European russia” accounts for 80% of their population) have a tiny advantage against GMT+1 players (SP/DE/FR) but they aren’t much of a problem since being 2h earlier can easily be compensated, there’ll still be some 2-4h of shared primetime.
It’s GMT+4 since 2011 when Russia Abolished Winter Time
Also, it is not an advantage. One who lives to the west has an advantage because when you go to sleep after your prime time, you have opponent PvDooring and reinforcing everything and profit for 5-8 hours. At the morning however there’s less game activity obviously even if you get up earlier than your opponent. Job and other real life stuff, you know.
I agree with you, West got advantage on East with the current system and do not think anything can be done about that. I feel sorry for Russian players as they are the one who struggle the most because of this.
Ideally if servers would ranged all timezone or only 1 timezone, the current system would work. But we all know this is not the case.
NA do not suffer from language and cutural barrier as we do in EU. So it “might” be easier to balance (although i doubt it) but for Europe, it is impossible. FR and DE would never mix with other. I know it is hard for outsider to understand even if we live 2012, you cannot expect or force it to happen.
I think they are already plenty of other weapon siege that could fit that role instead of catapult.
Right now catapult behind doors are way too OP. You can stop a raid of 10-15 players with 1 AFK auto click on a catapult.
Boiling oil should be the weapon siege which was meant for that role but are right now to easely destroyed.
with that lack of guild message when your claimed point get attacked, it is hard to defend.
I personally find those way too easy to capture event with max upgrade.
It should take a longer in order to let the defense time to react.
Right now we see exchange because, capture take less than 1 minute so no time for confrontation
The easy fix would be : no catapult can be build inside wall.
I don’t think doing an exception for just 1 weapon siege would really be that hard and they don’t need to rewrite engine for that.
And what about Oceanic players?
Yes that also a big problem for those. But there was no Oceanic since start and it was decided by community that they join US server (better ping).
Because both NA and Oceanic are in the same bracket , I think it is less an issue as opposed to EU brackets where it was clearly designed to hold EU community.
But again, I do agree that is not perfect which is why ANet need to do something about the whole situation and not just stay silent or remove thread like those to ignore the issue.

No, but they should’ve guessed that this would happen as people play together worldwide. Though they might not have meant it to be like that, if they really wanted to stop it, they should’ve region locked.
And then we’d hear whining about the Oceanics, Asians and Russians though, I’m sure
They did lock region in first stage of beta but there was too much whine about it. Of course people did not know at that time that NA/EU moving to an other bracket would have such impact.
But yeah, ANet should have known that.
24/7 game is different from NA moving to EU and vice versa. ANet did not meant that else they would have never separated ladder in 2.

I agree with OP. ANet should do something about it, either merge ladder and feel the wrath of the DE/FR/SP community or create a new system which do not allow large guild to migrate to a different ladder whithout blocking individual who want to play with their friend worldwide.

Because in sPvP, you can cap point even if there is someone stealth near by.
In WvW it does not work that way. This is from personal experience, you could stay 20 minutes without the point ever capping.
I must admin I do not know the exact specific but it is either due to a delay for capture or that stealth do prevent capture in WvW.

Unfortunately you are wrong. They is a delay to capping point which is bigger than stealth time.
One of my guildmate already done on Stonemist castle and blocked capture for about 15-20 minutes.
Those case should not happen at all. No single person should be able to block a capture for that long.

It takes a long time to kill one thief with perma stealth spec. By the time you kill him an other will come in and stop you until the whole servers comes on you.
This is happening more and more now.
This is not a culling issue. Their a very specific spec that allows thief to be perma stealth and very resistant while being stealth.
This is because Cloak and Dagger does not have cooldown and stealth immunity does not proc if you attack after stealth is gone. Stealth immunity should happen at the end of any stealth capacity.
Server titles are just basic guidelines to direct players where to go if they are unsure of a good destination. Every server is hosted in Austin, Texas so there’s no advantage on being on one server over another.

They never meant to point at non-EU players because there was none to little present in EU brackets. Today we are not in the same situation.

You obviously never followed T1 match did you ?
Elona matched our night presence then AS did with help from a 30~ member canadian guild (which caused drama on french forums)
Either way, we will all see each other next week and you will see the real strength of both VS and AS as there won’t be any school holiday and the night resistance is likely to lower by a lot.
Until ANet says otherwise, EU brackets is supposed to be for EU players. Non-EU players have nothing to do here.

You are wrong. France and Germany have problem with english language. The issue is deep within the root of their culture and cannot be overcome just like that.
Both France and Germany have huge player base which is why ANet decided to put language server (they did not in first beta). ANet knows it is inconceivable to have two countries inside an english server. We would have seen much more drama if this was the case.
Also people prone to international server must realize that technical issue (server stress, latency and other) that can have devastating effect on the game.
Like someone said, I think it is time for ANet to step in and make a stand on this issue to either make server international or discourage non-EU massive transfer to EU servers, provide asian/oceanic players with their own brackets.
Because let’s face it, players are not reasonable and are trying to transform EU brackets into NA2 with the same NA/Oceanic problems (except here it is EU/NA).
NA players in EU are doing the same damage Oceanic did on NA region.
Last thing we’d expect is at the last 24 hours the 2 french servers decide to ally up again lol.
Don’t worry. It is almost impossible for it to happen again this week. Too much competition, tension and drama between AS and VS
With or without cap, AoE would not be different. It is extremely rare to have more than 5 enemy in your aoe. If people are stupid enough to stay in aoe, even with cap, they would die either way.
The only use to the cap is to make that turtle strategy working.
Correct me if i am wrong but during the private beta, weren’t Europeans not allowed to join WvW due to latency issue it would cause on the US based server ?
Go play on NA if you want international challenge.
Why should EU players suffer from NA server problem ?
ANet expected players to help balance servers with free transfers. Well look where this has led us. Eu was spared till now the NA- servers problem but not anymore.

And shame on people recruiting non-EU players and those moving to EU for the sole purpose of nightcapping.
I don’t mind nightcapping as long as it come from actuals players from europe. Which was the case on VS and ER.
Let’s start with some history on how things got to this point :
- Baruch Bay [Spanish Server]. Since day 1 they have latin Americain. Everyone knows that. However they have never been good in day and prime time so they loose to the top servers.
- Vizunah [French] : Because of Baruch Bay, people believed canadian were doing the same and joined Vizunah. But that was not the case. Only hardcore dedicated made the difference. (You will understand why this is true later on)
- 2 Weeks from now, German got school holyday. They clearly had more manpower than any other EU server and stomped every server.
- In part due to this, Aborstone [French] recruited canadian guild into their server. This was one the first big migration from US to EU just beat server who were strong at nightcap even without US crew.
- Desolation recruited US guild
Now all the EU servers are trying to do the same.
I agree that no region lock should be put in place. However there is a couple thing that are just plain wrong and pathetic.
First, ANet did not add a NA spanish server. Why ? Did they not realize how huge the spanish community is in america ?
Second, whole NA guilds moving to EU. This is something that would not have easilely happen if transfer wasn’t free. Again ANet is too blame because they were not fast enough to deal with this issue.
Now we are stuck in a situation where more and more US guild will migrate to EU. This will increase lag on EU servers (there was huge issue on the private beta I recall with EU joining WvW). And it cannot be undone. ANet cannot force people to move back.
What can be done ? Nothing. People will not change and only look at the short outcome : Our server is winning so we don’t care what happens next.

I have not seen bot in our WvW. Our maps are way too active for people to farm scales and such.
AoE doesn’t work. With the right spec, Thief have very high regen in stealth which makes aoe damage pretty much pointless considering he can dodge most of them.

You still see green dot on map from your allies even if not in clipping range.
Yes there is a possibility for people to be beyond enemies line. But still, this seems very unrealistic. I was being very generous when i say 100 because i couldn’t see that number but just in case I was wrong I put a higher number.
I have been wondering this for a while but 2 days ago, I noticed something very strange.
On our server, we have a constant queue of 30m-1hour in primetime no matter what map you choose.
On the map I went in, we were cornered to our spawn with just 1 tower left. No need to say that almost all player should be seen around that tower and spawn camp.
According to player cap we should be around 150+ players of 1 side on 1 map. With all the good faith, the estimate of players could go no higher than 50-80. Let’s say 100. So where are those other 50+ players ?
I know I have read similar feeling from other players on other servers.
So what is the deal with the population cap ? Is it broken or I am just being paranoid ?
One of the theory I have seen is that population cap is not based per server side but for the whole 3 servers. This seems very likely and that would be very bad.
I hope we can get an official answer on this.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

There is still a delay for enemy to appear. Many times, I see 5 enemies, rush in and like 5-10 sec later, i am in the middle of 40 people.
This is in no way acceptable.
If the engine cannot support it, than their is no point in having massive battle in open pvp

WvW is unplayable. Need hotfix
1. Never count on your pet to help you kill anything.Utilize their CC abilities to try and synergize them with your own, and sacrifice them to save a player.
I do not agree on your vision. Ranger Pets give the best dps. A ranger without pet will fall far behind other class in term of damage. Depending on your spec, it account for more than 50% of the dps (i would say it can go up to 70%).
Major gameplay component of ranger increase pet damage, yet in dungeon are very hard to use or even impossible on some area.
The main issue is really that dungeon are designed with lots of movement/escape mecanism (which I found really great) but those are not compatible with the ranger pets.
I don’t using pet commands to get him out of trouble except that most times :
- pet cannot get out of danger zone quick enough
- takes too much damage and get killed before you can react
Melee pets have the biggest issue overall as the melee combats are designed with the highest requirements of dodging.
Again FS players boasting about loosing. You guys make me laugh.
@IKShadow.4582 your reasoning is wrong. When one server is on prime time, the opposing server might not be.
So a prime time is not defined by adding them together but when the two prime time collides.
For example, Let’s take VS vs FS.
VS is french, GMT+2. FS is mostly russian, for simplicity we take GMT+4.
The 20:00 – 00:00 from russia put in GMT+2 would be 18:00 – 22:00
So the prime time from both server meets at 20:00-22:00 GMT+2
Playing past 00:00 is not abnormal. I am quite sure both russian and french play till 01:00 – 02:00, but you can guess that 2h difference in timezone makes a huge difference.
Therefor countries who are the closest to the GMT will face minimal resistance on their prime time.
You may argue that the other side have the same advantage the hours before primetime but that is simply not true. The population in afternoon is far more important than night.
